htm). As can be seen, swearing has many reasons, but the first one is probably the most common. Using a swear word to emphasize something is often necessary as it shows how people really feel about things Secondly, swearing can be also quite beneficial. It can be a a useful substitute to physical violence as swearing often frees people from anger or frustation.Swear words can also be used in a more positive manner, in the form of jokes and humor, storytelling, self-deprecation or even social commentary. If one may want to emphasize how great one feels something is, a swear words emphasizes the positive feelings you have for that object, situation, person or event ("This concert is fucking awesome!"). Sure, one could just say "This concert is awesome," but the addition of the swear word emphasizes the emotional reaction we have toward it -- and easily conveys that emotional reaction to others (psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2009/03/30/why-do-we-swear)

such unimportant matters as the height of one's heels. It is interesting to note that even though lying is seen as a terrible offense in Lilliput, Flimnap tells a huge lie (that Gulliver slept with Flimnap's wife) and gets away with it. Apart from the ludicrous physical implications of a giant having relations with a Lilliputian, the problem here is that the society must be able to enforce its norm against lying for the law to matter. This may also be a commentary on the seeming ability of those in positions of power to get away with breaking the law. When the law comes down unfairly on Gulliver, he has actual rather than statutory power to leave, so he simply leaves Lilliput to live with their enemies. Furthermore, satire is shown through the plot of journey and return. The Lilliputians symbolize humankind's widely excessive pride in its own puny existence because, in spite of the small size of the

The Future of Work Automation anxiety has been spreading lately. What's clear is that there will be significant change. What's less clear is what that change will look like. The threat of technological unemployment is real. A picture that we see on our television screens, in everyday commentary is one where an army of robots descend on the workplace with one goal in mind: to displace humans from their work. Yes, machines displace humans from particular tasks, but they don't just substitute for humans. They also complement them in other tasks. Sometimes they complement humans directly. So a taxi driver can use a satnav system to navigate on unfamiliar roads. It also complements humans indirectly and it does this in two ways. Think the economy as a pie
1922 to 1928, he returned to Europe to become a writer. He lived in Paris for the next two years, and then came to England as a school-teacher. He lived for several years in poverty. By 1936, Orwell had joined the Republican forces in the Spanish Civil War. He was wounded in the fighting. Late in the war, Orwell fought the Communists and eventually had to flee Spain for his life. During the Second World War, Orwell wrote a weekly radio political commentary, designed to counter German and Japanese propaganda in India. His wartime work for the BBC gave him a solid taste of bureaucratic hypocrisy. Orwell, who was prone to illness, had his career and his life cut short when he died of tuberculosis on January 21, 1950. He left behind a substantial body of work and a reputation for greatness. He's most know books are: Animal Farm, Nineteen Eighty-Four and The Road to Wigan Pier. SETTING

Equally the lighting and framing are excellent, while Renoir's spatial awareness allows the camera to do everything from remaining resolutely still (trapping characters within the frame, forcing them together) to skimming up and around, moving smoothly with the flow of the narrative. Natural viewpoint gives the improvised feel of the action , despite that lines seem spontaneous evan as they are exactly the opposite. Altogether, ''La Règle du Jeu'' is an outstanding and non-judgmental film, a commentary on human behavior and charitable to its protagonists. Despite handling a number of thematic direction, Renoir's clarity of approach is such that these remain distinct. For example, the theme of mistaken identity, where one person substitutes for another (such as at the masquerade ball), is introduced at the airport and continues throughout. Together with the direct interpretation, every member of this upper-middle class social group is required (as a

Jane Austen 1775 1817 Had a great home and family English novelist whose works of romantic fiction, set among the nobility, earned her a place as one of the most widely read writers in English literature Her works represent the transition from romantic literature to 19th century realism Her realism and biting social commentary have gained her historical importance among scholars and critics Her plots, though fundamentally comic, highlight the dependence of women on marriage to secure social standing and economic security Uses witty humor Achieved success with ,,Sense and Sensibility" (1811), ,,Pride and Prejudice" (1813), ,,Mansfield Park" (1814) and ,,Emma" (1816) ,,The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid. Eager to distance herself from Fanny's rudeness and insensitivity, Mrs. Dashwood immediately accepts the invitation and sends three servants ahead to Barton to prepare the house for their arrival. She informs John and Fanny of their imminent departure and encourages Edward Ferrars to come visit them at Barton. Following Marianne's tearful goodbye to their home at Norland, the family sets out for Barton Cottage. Commentary The opening pages of Sense and Sensibility are concerned with the laws of inheritance and succession that govern the fate of the Dashwood family property. According to the laws of male primogeniture effective in the mid-nineteenth century, estates went to the closest male descendant of the original owner. Since Old Mr. Dashwood has no sons, his estate is bequeathed to his nephew, Henry Dashwood. Henry, in turn, leaves the estate to his eldest son, John. However, as Austen notes, Henry

They are in-part or completely untrue or fantasy. Historically, paper production was considered too expensive to be used for entertainment. An increase in global literacy and print technology led to the increased publication of books for the purpose of entertainment, and allegorical social commentary. Most fiction is additionally categorized by genre. The novel is the most common form of fictional book. Novels are stories that typically feature a plot, setting, themes and characters. Yarn bombing Yarn Bombing is a type of street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted cloth rather than paint or chalk. The practice is believed to have originated in the U.S. with Texas knitters trying to find a creative way to use their leftover and unfinished knitting projects, but has since spread worldwide. While other forms of graffiti may be expressive, decorative, territorial, socio-political commentary, advertising or vandalism, yarn bombing is almost exclusively about beautification and creativity. The Qur'an is more concerned with moral guidance than legal instruction, and is considered the "sourcebook of Islamic principles and values". Muslim jurists consult the hadith, or the written record of Muhammad's life, to both supplement the Qur'an and assist with its interpretation. The science of Qur'anic commentary and exegesis is known as tafsir. The word Qur'an means "recitation". When Muslims speak in the abstract about "the Qur'an", they usually mean the scripture as recited in Arabic rather than the printed work or any translation of it. To Muslims, the Qur'an is perfect only as revealed in the original Arabic; translations are necessarily deficient because of language differences, the fallibility of translators, and the impossibility of preserving the original's inspired style

Uncodified constitution is a type of constitution where the fundamental rules often take the form of customs, usage, precedent and a variety of statutes and legal instruments.[1] An understanding of the constitution is obtained through reading commentary by the judiciary, government committees or legal experts. In such a constitutional system, all these elements may be (or may not be) recognized by courts, legislators and the bureaucracy as binding upon government and limiting its powers. Such a framework is sometimes imprecisely called an "unwritten constitution"; however, all the elements of an uncodified constitution are typically written down in a variety of official documents, though not codified in a single document.

Mõlemad annavad Nietzsche arvates tunnistust inimväärikuse puudumisest: Kristlik usk on otsast otsani ohvrite toomine: oma vabaduse, uhkuse, enesekindluse ohverdamine, enda orjusesse andmine, enese sandistamine. "TED Talks Lewis Pugh Swims the North Pole" (www.fourhourbody.com/pugh) Lewis Pugh is known as the human polar bear. Why? He swam across the icy waters of the North Pole in a Speedo and regularly swims in freezing cold water. Watch this TED speech for astonishing footage and blunt commentary on super-cold swims. fluence possible. Several of my academic colleagues read and provided perceptive comments on the entire manuscript in its initial draft form, greatly strengthening the subsequent versions. They are Gus Levine, Doug Kenrick, Art Beaman, and Mark Zanna. In addition, the first draft was read by a few family members and friends- Richard and Gloria Cialdini, Bobette Gorden, and Ted Hall-who offered not only much-needed emotional support but insightful substantive commentary as well. _PREFACE A second, larger group provided helpful suggestions for selected chapters or groups of chapters: Todd Anderson, Sandy Braver, Catherine Chambers, Judi Cial- dini, Nancy Eisenberg, Larry Ettkin, Joanne Gersten, Jeff Goldstein, Betsy Hans, Va- lerie Hans, Joe Hepworth, Holly Hunt, Ann Inskeep, Barry Leshowitz, Darwyn Linder, Debbie Littler, John Mowen, Igor Pavlov, Janis Posner, Trish Puryear, Mari-
She took letters and documents out of the file she carried with her and spread them out all over the sofa and floor. At once I had the strange sensation as if a dimmer switch had turned the inside of my entire body to maximum power. There was nothing to do other than remain open, alert, intensely present – present with every cell of the body. I looked at her with no thought and no judgment and listened in stillness without any mental commentary. A torrent of words came out of her mouth. “They sent me another disturbing letter today. They are conducting a vendetta against me. You must help. We need to fight them together. Their crooked lawyers will stop at nothing. I will lose my home. They are threatening me with dispossession.” It transpired that she refused to pay the service charge because the property managers had filed to carry out some repairs. They in turn threatened to take her to court.
Several young composers have shifted their attention to timbres and “pure” sound. The major, painful problem is the shortage of vigorous, impressive and profound core ideas. Considering that Estonian symphonism as a profession is just a century old we can hardly regard ourselves as highly developed. The opinions and evaluations from a modern perspective may seem an exaggeration, as Rudolf Tobias prophetically stated in 1913.2 Commentary and evaluation is a complicated challenge since no human language is able to adequately express everything that has been expressed in music. The essential thing for the qualified reader is undoubtedly listening to Estonian music: experiencing its emotions and discovering its ideas and values. It appears that the contemporary is not “contemporary” at all. In its deepest layers it maintains inseparable connections with the past and makes its way into the future
Simile Theory? 2 Pursue Fogelin's Figurative Simile Theory, attacking or defending. 3 Try to come up with a compromise view between Davidson and Searle. 4 Defend Searle against one or more of our objections, or make a further objection. 5 If you are willing to do some outside reading, discuss Ross's and Kittay's "analogy" phenomena. (Not for the faint of heart.) Further reading · Black (1954/1962) was a seminal paper and attracted wide commentary. · Reimer (2001) rehabilitates Davidson's causal theory. · Johnson (1981) is a useful anthology. · Cohen (1975), Elgin and Scheffler (1987), Tirrell (1989) and Stern (2000) offer further approaches to metaphor. White's (1996) work is particularly subtle and detailed. Concentration is a key success principle in every field. ■ SUCCESS VERSUS FAILURE Dun & Bradstreet has been tracking the results of successful and unsuccessful businesses for more than 50 years. Not long ago, it put all of its research on failed businesses into a computer. The data showed that businesses fail because of “low sales.” Businesses suc- ceed because of “high sales.” Everything else is commentary. As the president of your own company, engaged in personal strategic planning for your career, your job is to ensure the highest level of sales of your personal services that you can possibly achieve. This requires that you specialize, differentiate, segment, and concen- trate. As the president of your own life and career, you must become absolutely excellent at doing one or two things that the market will
" He grinned and tapped his forehead. "Built-in radar detector." "Very funny." I fumed. "Charlie's a cop, remember? I was raised to abide by traffic laws. Besides, if you turn us into a Volvo pretzel around a tree trunk, you can probably just walk away." "Probably," he agreed with a short, hard laugh. "But you can't." He sighed, and I watched with relief as the needle gradually drifted toward eighty. "Happy?" "Almost." "I hate driving slow," he muttered. "This is slow?" "Enough commentary on my driving," he snapped. "I'm still waiting for your latest theory." I bit my lip. He looked down at me, his honey eyes unexpectedly gentle. "I won't laugh," he promised. "I'm more afraid that you'll be angry with me." "Is it that bad?" "Pretty much, yeah." He waited. I was looking down at my hands, so I couldn't see his expression. "Go ahead." His voice was calm. "I don't know how to start," I admitted. "Why don't you start at the beginning..
