THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIA ON BAD BODY IMAGE IN CHILDREN

THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIA ON BAD BODY IMAGE IN CHILDREN Today's children grow up in a world flooded with the mass media. Statistics reveal that, on average, a child watches up to 5 h of television per day and spends an average of 6 to 7 h viewing the various media combined. Body image issues have been on the rise rince the introduction of social media websites that hoste the idea of ,,perfect" or ,,idealized" body sizes. Over the past 20 years, several articles have proposed a link between the thin female beauty ideal and the muscular male body ideal portrayed in the media with a range of psychological symptomatology including body dissatisfaction and eating disorders. Over time the cultural ideal for women's body size and shape has become considerably thinner and leaner and men's body size and shape has become stronger and more muscular.

Social media information and data collection and security

New Media Economy Social media information and data collection and security In this brief essay, i would like to focus on the social media platforms in our moren society. How people use them, what kind of information we give away, what companies will do with this. Information sharing and data protection has become very popular theme in the recent few years. People care more about their privacy and avoid „big brother“ foreshadowing. It is important to know what social media platforms promise and are they really going to keep it. Users should think about what they share and what kind of information they generate. Because it is all recorded and some info can be traced back to real people. Privacy and data protecion topics are becoming more and more important and the amouts of data generated is becoming larger. When wrongly access this kind of data, a lot damage could be done by criminals. Users privacy settings should be reviewd and fixed when needed.

show plasticity in response to environmental factors are important for the human cortex as well. Environmental changes can disrupt our circadian rhythms, that is, our biological 24- hour clock. Jet lag is a sudden circadian disruption caused by flying across several time zones in one day. Flying east, you lose hours of the day; flying west extends your day. Jet lag often causes insomnia and decreased alertness. The body adjusts about 1 hour or less per day to time zone changes. Typically, people adjust faster when flying west, probably because lengthening the travel day is more in accordance with our natural free-running circadian cycle. Examine one interaction between cognition and physiology in terms of behavior. Prosopagnosia, also known, as face-blindness is a condition when a person cannot recognize faces although they are able to see the face and understand that it is a face of a person

Body Shaming

“instantly,” and hide our “imperfections”… without actually knowing anything about us, much less our appearance. This is one example of body-shaming, and it is everywhere. It has become the norm to criticize aspects of our bodies as some type of bonding experience with friends – if we all hate our bodies; it somehow makes us feel connected and united. Body-shaming can lead to a vicious cycle of judgment and criticism. Messages from the media and from each other often imply that we should want to change, that we should care about looking slimmer, smaller, and tanner. And if we don’t, we worry that we are at risk of being the target of someone else’s body-shaming comments. Body-shaming manifests in many ways: Like Criticizing your own appearance, through a judgment or comparison to another person, Criticizing another’s appearance in front of them or Criticizing another’s appearance without their knowledge.
