Comparison of diesel and petrol engine

09.09 Comparison of diesel and petrol engine Similarities Both engines have a similar combustion cycle. The cycle is four strokes long. The strokes are the intake stroke, the compression stroke, the combustion stroke, and the exhaust stroke. During the intake stroke, the piston moves down in time with the opening of the intake valve. This allows the cylinder to become full of an air and gas mixture. This mixture is compressed during the compression stroke, which increases the compression pressure at which the gas mixture will be ignited, or self-ignited. The combustion stroke is the stroke following the explosion of the mixture, and this stroke is what powers the car. It is this stroke that powers the crankshaft, and allows for the car to move. The final stroke is the exhaust stroke. The exhaust valve opens when the piston hits the bottom, and the piston pushes the exhaust out. Both engines also have c...

Beowulf(poem and Grendel(book) comparison

The differences lie in the language use, character types, speakers, layout etc. In the original "Beowulf" epic Grendel displays nothing but the most primitive human qualities. He is a grotesque monster who terrorizes a small community of Danish warriors. Therefore he can be called a flat character. In the book "Grendel" the protagonist and antagonist have been swapped. Gardner greatly alters the monster's characterization. In his novel, very little separates Grendel from his human counterparts: he has a high level of intelligence, as well as a human capacity for both emotion and philosophy. As the text is written in the first person point of view through Grendel's eyes, one gets a quite good picture of him. Unfortunately he is fighting with the inevitable. He keeps attacking and eating t...

Comparison of Education in Britain and Estonia

Comparison of Education in Britain and Estonia When looking into the educational systems of Britain and Estonia, several differences appear. In this essay I am going to point out some of the most distinguish features in the education of both countries. Firstly, there are dissimilarities in the age at which children go to school. In Estonia the age is 7 whereas in Britain children start their educational journey already as young as 5 years old. Primary school lasts 6 years just like in Estonia but the pupils in Britain are 2 years younger when they finish primary school than the pupils in Estonia. However, students in Britain and Estonia finish secondary school at the same age because secondary school lasts 5 years in Britain instead of 3 like it is in Estonia. Altogether, compulsory school in Britain lasts 11 years which is 2 years more than in Estonia. Moreover, there are slight differences as for the compulsory...

Comparison of Estonian and British State system

Comparison of Estonian and British State system Iam here to talk about Estonian and British state system, which have some similarities and differences. First of all the regime: Estonia is a democratic republic when the United Kingdom is constitutional monarchy. The head of state in Estonia is president who currently is Toomas-Hendrik Ilves and the head of state in United Kingdom is queen Elizabeth the second. Estonian president has a serving time of 5 years then in United Kingdom monarch rules the country till he or she dies, of course there are special occasions for that too. Second of all I want to talk about parliaments: Estonian parliament is unicameral and has 101 members and is elected for four years, when the British parliament is bicameral and has 1455 members currently and is elected for five years. Bicameral parliament means that there are two separate assemblies. There are quite a few minor difference...

To a Skylark

B. Shelley's and W. Wordsworth's "To a Skylark" Poems The Skylark is a bird whose singing is very melodical. It is an inspiration to many poets, two of them being P. B. Shelley and W. Wordsworth. The Skylark is a common nature metaphor for pure poetic expression. Shelly Shelley's poem is all about praising the birds singing and how the lark can create such beautiful songs unintentionally. For the bird, singing is effortless and comes out naturally. Still the creation is harmonic and spreads joy. The poem starts with Shelly calling the bird a "blithe spirit" and expressing his admiration of how the song comes from the bird's heart without any effort. "Bird thou never wert-/ That from heaven or near it" gives the mental image that Shelly doesn't actually see the bird but only hears it. Thus the bird doesn't exist for him as a real thing but rather as something supernatural, like a ghost sending its melody while stayin...

Comparison. Jan Guillous’ ” Evil”.

Jan Guillous' " Evil". "Evil" is based on a 1981 autobiographical novel by Jan Guillou. It is about a boy called Erik Ponti who had always had violence in his life. Whether he was beat by his father or was he the one being violent to others. After problems in school, his mother decides to send him to a private school, and in order to do so, she had to sell some of her precious items. Erik understand that the private school called Stjärnsberg is his last change to get a good education and he wants to stop being violent. He goes to Stjärnsbergwith great hope and at first, its seems that he could do really well. But after a while he understand, that the school is probably the worst place where to be, when you want a peaceful life. The teachers look the other way as the older students are very brutal to younger, creating a hierarchical society based on class and age. The film was made in 2003 and dire...

Estonian and British Education System

In Estonia, the education system is based on six levels which include the: kindergarten, primary school, basic school, secondary school and university or vocational school. In Britain, the education system is also based on six levels which include the: nursery school, infant school, junior school, secondary school, 6th form and university or college. What is similar for both systems is that the first level of education starts at age of three. While in Estonia this level is called Kindergarten, then in Britain it is called Nursery school. Kindergarten is for children´s from age three to six, but Nursery school is for children´s three to four. Differently from Estonian system, at age of five to seven, British children ´s go to Infant school. This is called year one, year two and year three and all these three...

Links between Estonia and English speaking countries

Three quarters of the world's mail is written in English and eighty per cent of the world's electronic information is stored in English. The biggest countries where English is spoken as the first language are: Great Britain, Canada, United States of America and Australia. Estonian on in comparison to English is a language that is spoken only by approximately 1 million people. On the other hand English in comparison to Estonian is a very young language. Education

Until I do more teaching children, I can't say I've developed any insights or made any guidelines, except I know all students respond to enthusiasm and like to become fascinated. Educational systems of European and American types Being exposed to educational systems of both European and American types, I would point out the following positive trends in higher education of the USA in comparison to European style: 1. Link between the needs of real life and higher education which manifests itself in existence of Career Service, Job Fairs, study plus work possibilities ( Co-op system). Good students get well-paid jobs after graduating; 2. Support system . Psychological and academical ( Student Service Center). Fraternity and Sorority Organizations. International House with Center for International Education for foreign students; 3. Small number of subjects studied during the year...

Rakendusbioloogia teemad üldbioloogia ja biotehnoloogia kursusteks

Edasised huvid on tihti seotud biomolekulide 3-D struktuuridega (PDB andmebaasi uus konseptsioon Jaime Prilusky (email: lsprilus -at weizmann dot weizmann dot ac.il). Tarkvara kohta saab lähemat teavet David Hansen (email: cidaveh -at bioinfo dot weizmann dot ac.il) käest. Viimastel aastatel on ilmunud palju uusi bioloogilist informatsiooni sisaldavaid andmebaase. See on üldiselt hea aga paljud teadlased kaebavad, et selline dendents killustab andme allikad ja raskendab vajalike andmete otsimist eksitades otsija "andmebaaside labürinti". Informatsioon, mis on eeltoodud põhjustel laiali paisatud tuleb...

Scotland

Climate of Scotland ! Rainfall totals vary widely across Scotland-- the western highlands of Scotland are one of the wettest places in Europe with annual rainfall up to 4577 mm. Due to the mountainous topography of the western Highlands, this type of precipitation is orographic in nature, with the warm, wet air forced to rise on contact with the mountainous coast, where it consequently cools and condenses, forming clouds. In comparison , much of eastern Scotland receives less than 870 mm annually; lying in the rain shadow of the western uplands.[1] This effect is most pronounced along the coasts of Lothian, Fife, Angus and Eastern Aberdeenshire, as well as around the city of Inverness. Inchkeith in the Firth of Forth receives only 550mm (22in) of precipitation each year, which is similar to Rabat in Morocco, and less than what Sydney or Barcelona receive per year. Also, as a result of this...

Scotland

klass 2008 Etymology Scotland is from the Latin Scoti, the term applied to Gaels. The Late Latin word Scotia (land of the Gaels) was initially used to refer to Ireland. By the 11th century at the latest, Scotia was being used to refer to (Gaelic-speaking) Scotland north of the river Forth, alongside Albania or Albany, both derived from the Gaelic Alba. The use of the words Scots and Scotland to encompass all of what is now Scotland became common in the Late Middle Ages. History Repeated glaciations, which covered the entire land-mass of modern Scotland, have destroyed any traces of human habitation that may have existed before the Mesolithic period. It is believed that the first post-glacial groups of hunter-gatherers arrived in Scotland around 12,800 years ago, as the ice sheet retreated after the last glaciation. Groups of settlers began building the first known permanen...

Hiina

[55] China's accession into the World Trade Organization (WTO) was a goal achieved after nearly fifteen years of exhausting negotiations carrying many legal, political and social implications for all parties. China was finally able to convince WTO members that without China, the WTO is only partially a worldwide trade organization. The road to the signature of the final agreement of accession was long, but these difficulties pale in comparison to the problems that have not yet been tackled in terms of achieving real implementation of its provisions throughout the territory of the People's Republic of China (PRC). China's accession surely presents the world trading system with opportunities, but also poses the challenge of integrating a market with strong structural, behavioural and cultural constraints. The government emphasizes personal income and consumption by introducing new management systems to help increase productivity...
