Hipiliikumine ja rock Need kaks nähtust põimusid 60- ndate lõpus, keskuseks oli San Francisco. Hipiliikumine kutsus üles sõdimise asemel üksteist armastama (käimas oli Vietnami sõda), paraku kaasnes sellega ohjeldamatu narkootikumide tarvitamise kultus.
