The Broken Rainbow vigade parandus
It rained so hard that I couldn’t see anything . Then suddenly, when the rain stopped, I looked out the window . I saw a rainbow, but this rainbow was different – the colours were all wrong ! Then I looked around and noticed that all of the colors were different!
The colors were like black , grey and white. I wasn’t able to understand what was going on. Then I saw a big wave coming. I thought that I was going to die. I started to run. I ran to the forest . There were also everything wrong. The trees were black and their leaves were brown and white, instead of green . I wasn’t able to understand anything. I saw things that could not be possible and thing that I had never seen before . I got out of the woods . I reached the town gates. They were locked . I was very confused and the best idea that came to my head was to climb over the gate . And so I did.
I got safely to the other side of the gate. All of the villagers were outside . There was also my friend in front of the restaurant . Something was wrong with him too. He was scared and frightened. His hands were sweating and he had pale look on his face , like he had seen something creepy. „What’s going on? Why’s everyone outside? Why is the rainbow so different?“ I asked him. My friend didn’t answer . Suddenly I heard something strange . The city gates opened and an army of monsters came in. They were all dressed in black. They had big teeth and they were carrying swords and gems . They had a very similar faces to humans , but something was different. They had tales . I couldn’t understand whether they were humans or animals. I was really scared. Suddenly they shot my friend. I was shocked and I couldn’t believe my eyes . People ran away screaming, some even fainted.
I was upset and didn’t know what to do. I closed my eyes for a second. Tears fell down on my face and I asked myself: „Did I really just see, how my best friend died?“ I knew that I had to take myself together. I opened my eyes, stood up and took a guy which was laying in front of me. It was very wet because of the heavy rain. I tried to kill the monster that killed my friend but I couldn’t – the gun didn’t work. The monster got angry now and he wanted to kill me. I started to run. I felt how my legs started to get heavier and heavier. I got slower and slower. I was really frightened and I was shaking all over my body . Cold sweat covered my body. I layed on the ground again and closed my eyes. I knew that I will die.
When I opened my eyes I saw brightness. I looked around – it was my room , my bed. I ran to the window and I saw a rainbow. The colors were right and beautiful. I touched my face. It was wet. My body was covered in cold sweat. The world wasn’t black and white anymore. It was colorful again! I understood that it was only just a dream .

Her hair was a deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction. And yet, they were all exactly alike. Every one of them was chalky pale, the palest of all the students living in this sunless town. Paler than me, the albino. They all had very dark eyes despite the range in hair tones. They also had dark shadows under those eyes -- purplish, bruiselike shadows. As if they were all suffering from a sleepless night, or almost done recovering from a broken nose. Though their noses, all their features, were straight, perfect, angular. But all this is not why I couldn't look away. I stared because their faces, so different, so similar, were all devastatingly, inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you never expected to see except perhaps on the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine. Or painted by an old master as the face of an angel. It was hard to decide who was the most beautiful -- maybe the perfect blond girl, or the bronze-haired boy.

Sylvia Day Bared to You Sylvia Day Bared to You The first book in the Crossfire series, 2012 This one is for Dr. David Allen Goodwin. My love and gratitude are boundless. Thank you, Dave. You saved my life. Acknowledgments My deepest gratitude to my editor, Hilary Sares, who really dug into this story and made me work for it. Basically, she kicked my ass. By not pulling her punches or letting me shortchange the details, she made me work harder and because of that, this story is a much, much better book. BARED TO YOU wouldn't be what it is without you, Hilary. Thank you so much! To Martha Trachtenberg, copy editor extraordinaire. This book is an important one for me and she treated it that way. Thank you, Martha! To Victoria Colotta, for all her hard work on the i

Heartless

Heartless It was one late evening when a little blond girl, aged between 7-8, ran quietly across the Ninth Avenue and entered one of the old houses that were lining the road. Inside she went smoothly though the corridors and soon reached a wooden door. After knocking twice a voice from inside called "Enter!" and the child went in. The room was filled with the smoke of numberless cigarettes. The girl, however, made no emotion and came closer to the old and ugly man sitting behind the table. "I wasn't lucky today, Grandpa," whispered the child and her light blue eyes filled with tears as she talked. The man smoked soundlessly, not even glancing at the girl. "But I'll go again, tomorrow, and bring you twice the money! I promise! So don't punish me, okay?" The man stood up and walked slowly towards the girl. "I promised your mother to take care of you, yet, if you are useless in even collecting money from the rich, I can't help you! This is the end, Hear

Kordamine inglise keele eksamiks A 1.1 Read the text and answer the questions below. Dear Mary-Alice, It's been ages since I last wrote to you, isn't it weird? Yes, so it is, but, I do have a certain reason. Do you remember Sir Thom of the Minquettes'? That fine young man with fascinating blue eyes... Oh, my sweet Mary, you will never guess what happened yesterday! It was about seven o'clock in the evening when Lillian called me out for a walk you know I can't say `no' to my little sis. Anyway we went to the forest near the Swan Lake and, believe it or not, got lost! Awful! I was so scared... We walked and walked, not even knowing the direction we were heading to, until we reached a huge mansion. And the garden around it was so extraordinary... That is something you just must see! But neither the trees nor flowers could be as wonderful as the owner himself! Sir Thom treated us tea and sandwiches, not forgetting to show us way back to the village. He was so kind, don't you think?

A lamb to the slaughter

Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl (1916-1990) The room was warm and clean, the curtains drawn, the two table lamps alight - hers and the one by the empty chair opposite. On the sideboard behind her, two tall glasses, soda water, whiskey. Fresh ice cubes in the Thermos bucket. Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come him (correction: home) from work. Now and again she would glance up at the clock, but without anxiety, merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come. There was a slow smiling air about her, and about everything she did. The drop of a head as she bent over her sewing was curiously tranquil. Her skin - for this was her sixth month with child - had acquired a wonderful translucent quality, the mouth was soft, and the eyes, with their new placid look, seemed larger darker than before. When the clock said ten minutes to five, she began to listen, and a few moments later, punctually as always, she hear
