How to prevent petty crime?

If you want to feel safer then always check your items in your pockets or keep them empty. If you want you may carry tear gas because when someone attacks you, then you can protect yourself. If you have a change, try to avoid empty streets and do not dress too intriguingly, because then you draw too much attention. Everyone knows that when you go out, you have to lock the doors, but if you are at home, you should also keep your doors locked. You never know, when burglars come and break in. If you want to feel safer you should be very careful. Always control your car doors and windows, control that your pockets are closed, be careful in the streets, carry tear gas when you walk alone and always keep your doors locked even if you are at home.

Essay living forever

indefinitely, how will that change the dynamics of society and culture? A typical person living to 80 years of age goes through several dramatic changes in his lifetime: his opinions and attitudes change, his interests, his friends, his career, sometimes even how he remembers the past. Imagine how much change would take place in a thousand years of life! We wouldn’t be a shadow of the persons we once were. The idea of living forever remains locked to science-fiction. I believe there are many different aspects to take into consideration . Secondly let’s have a look at the advantages. I think that one key benefit to being around forever would be the experience gained during this eternity. Anything and everything on our list of "to-do" could be completed - whether that would be traveling to far-off destinations and around the world, experiencing exotic tastefull foods or sleeping 20 hours a day.

Essey: Capital Punishment

Capital Punishment The adherents of the death penalty refer to public safety. Still, even though violent criminals are locked away from the society forever, there is also another possibility for the inmate to escape the full punishment. However proving whether one is guilty or not is a very complicated and time-consuming process. From an ethical perspective, the death penalty is, undoubtedly, a violation of human rights. Most death penalty critics charge that it is particularly barbaric when applied to mentally retarded people and juvenile delinquents. In this case, capital punishment looks like

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

A young Sussex gentleman named John Openshaw has a strange story: in 1869 his uncle Elias Openshaw had suddenly come back to England to settle on an estate at Horsham, West Sussex after living for years in the United States as a Planter in Florida and serving as a Colonel in the Confederate Army. Not being married, Elias had allowed his nephew to stay at his estate. One strangeness is that although John could go anywhere in the house he could never enter a locked room with his Uncle's trunks. A second strangeness was in March 1883 a letter postmarked from Pondicherry, India arrived for the Colonel inscribed only "K.K.K." with 5 orange pips (seeds) enclosed. More strange things happened: papers from the locked room were burnt and a will was drawn up leaving the estate to John Openshaw. The Colonel's behaviour became bizarre-he would either lock himself in his room and drink or he would go shouting forth in a drunken sally with a pistol in his hand

As time goes by, he becomes more infected by the ideas of Henry, but he loses control over his behaviour and his reputation in public decreases. This grows concern in Basil, who has deep feelings for Dorian and Basil tries to put some sense into the boy's mind. After Dorian had killed Basil, the same coldness and indifference, which had been there after Sibyl's suicide, appear again. All the sins that Dorian makes reveal themselves on the portrait. He keeps the door locked, but sometimes goes to see what he really has become. The picture that he sees is so horrifying that ultimately he hates it so much that throws a knife into the heart of the Dorian in the picture. After death the portrait turns back to original and the body could only be recognized by the rings that Dorian wore. The price that Dorian paid for his long-lasting youth was too high. I would never wish to be young forever if it would turn me into such a monster as Dorian was.

When Basil questions Dorian about his wrong doings, he shows Basil the portrait, which is as hideous as Dorian's sins. Dorian blames Basil for everything and stabs Basil. In Deciding that only full confession will free him of his guilt. In a rage, he picks up the knife that killed Basil Hallward and stabs it into the painting. His servants wake up caused by a scream inside a locked room. The servants find Dorian's body, killed by being stabbed to the heart and suddenly aged, old and ugly. It is only by the rings on his hand that the corpse can be identified. Beside him, however, the portrait has turned back to its original form. I liked the book, because it was interesting, but very difficult to read because it had a lot of unfamiliar words.

However, not all Native Americans were friendly. As a result, a wooden fence with watchtowers surrounded the homes that had been built and the gates in the fence were locked at night. By 1622 the Pilgrim Fathers had built a fort to protect themselves. It also served as a meeting place to discuss issues of government within the new colony. Over the next few years, as life for Puritans became more uncomfortable in England, more and more made the journey across the Atlantic. I saw things that could not be possible and thing that I had never seen before. I got out of the woods. I reached the town gates. They were locked. I was very confused and the best idea that came to my head was to climb over the gate. And so I did. I got safely to the other side of the gate. All of the villagers were outside. There was also my friend in front of the restaurant. Something was wrong with him too. He was scared and frightened. His hands were sweating and he had pale look on his face, like he had seen something creepy. „What’s going on? Why’s everyone outside? Why is the rainbow so different?“ I asked him

These all-wheel-drive vehicles need a differential between each set of drive wheels, and they need one between the front and the back wheels as well, because the front wheels travel a different distance through a turn than the rear wheels ● Part-time four-wheel-drive systems don't have a differential between the front and rear wheels; instead, they are locked together so that the front and rear wheels have to turn at the same average speed. This is why these vehicles are hard to turn on concrete when the four-wheel-drive system is engaged.

Plot Overview Jane Eyre is a young orphan being raised by Mrs. Reed, her cruel, wealthy aunt. A servant named Bessie provides Jane with some of the few kindnesses she receives, telling her stories and singing songs to her. One day, as punishment for fighting with her bullying cousin John Reed, Jane’s aunt imprisons Jane in the red- room, the room in which Jane’s Uncle Reed died. While locked in, Jane, believing that she sees her uncle’s ghost, screams and faints. She wakes to find herself in the care of Bessie and the kindly apothecary Mr. Lloyd, who suggests to Mrs. Reed that Jane be sent away to school. To Jane’s delight, Mrs. Reed concurs. Once at the Lowood School, Jane finds that her life is far from idyllic. The school’s headmaster is Mr. Brocklehurst, a cruel, hypocritical, and abusive man.

Christmas in different countrys(jõulud erinevates maades)

They light one candle each Sunday and last on Christmas Eve. Children count the days until Christmas using an Advent calendar. They open one window each day and find a Christmas picture inside. In Germany the traditional visitor is the Christkindl who is the Christ Child's messenger. She is a beautiful fair-haired girl with a shining crown of candles who visits each house with a basket of presents. In some homes a room is locked up before Christmas. On Christmas Eve the children go to bed but are woken up at midnight by their parents and taken down to the locked room. The door is opened and they see the tree all lit up, with piles of parcels on little tables. In Germany boys dress up as kings and carry a star round the village, singing carols. Submitted by Claudia Happel The German Christmas traditions are not quite like that. 1. Christmas preparations start before Dec. 1st, 2. December 6 is Nikolaustag, St

[2] 3 REGULAR SATELLITES Regular satellites on need kuud, mille orbiit on suhteliselt ringikujuline ja kulgeb suhteliselt lähedalt ümber oma primary. Nende orbiit on prograde orbit ehk samasuunaline planeedi pöörlemisega.[2] Nad moodustusid in situ ehk oma primary läheduses olles juba oma orbiidil.[4] Regular satellites'del on selline omadus, et nende tiirlemine on tidally locked ehk sünkroonis oma planeedi pöörlemisega ja seetõttu on planeedi poole suunatud alati üks ja sama külg. Ainus tuntud erand on Saturni kuu Hyperion, mis on küll regular satellite, kuid tema orbiit ei ole tidally locked, sest teda mõjutab Saturni suurima kuu Titan'i gravitatsioon.[2] Päikesesüsteemis on kokku vähemalt 55 regular satellites kaheksal planeedil: Maa Kuu, 8 Jupiteri kuud, 22 Saturni kuud (arvestusest jäävad välja sadad tuhanded moonlet'id ehk väga

detective, now a refugee from the war and a resident at the neighboring village of Styles St. Mary. Though Poirot has retired, he quickly agrees to investigate the murder of Mrs. Inglethorp. After all, Emily had been instrumental in settling Poirot and some other Belgians in the village. The clues are plentiful. There is the crushed coffee cup in Mrs. Inglethorp's room, the remains of the cocoa in another cup, the stain on the carpet, the locked despatch case, the thread on the door bolt, the candle grease on the floor, the burned fragments of paper in the fireplace. The police are kept busy with suspects. First, there is Alfred Inglethorp. But his alibi is convincing. Then there is John Cavendish, but the evidence also points to his brother Lawrence. Even Dr. Bauerstein is taken into custody. In the end, of course, it is up to Poirot to use his "little gray cells" to discover the murderer.

IS MEDIA DECEIVING AND PACIFYING THE POPULATION?

history was during the World War II, when Adolf Hitler controlled all the press and launched massive campaigns to promote anger against the Jews. His theory was that if you tell a lie that`s big enough and repeat it, people will eventually believe it. (McGrath, 2013). Many think this kind of situation could not be possible today as information can flow much freely now. People can instantly communicate around the globe and no nation is so isolated and locked in as the situation was 70 years ago. People had no way to spread the word themselves and information was coming only one-directionally from the controlled press. The media was used to deceive the population and people were made to believe what was politically needed. It seems the times have changed, people are free of propaganda and modern communication methods could easily see through such scams. The population thinks

The Great Plague In London

historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/England-History/GreatPlague.htm) Plague began in London in the poor, overcrowded parish of St. Giles-in-the-Field. It started slowly at first but by May of 1665, 43 had died. In June 6 137 people died, in July 17 136 and at its peak in August, 31 159 people died. In all, 15% of the population perished during that terrible summer. (Historic UK's homepage: http://www.historic- uk.com/HistoryUK/England-History/GreatPlague.htm) People showing symptoms of the plague were locked in their home together with their family for 40 days after the plague victim had either died or recovered. Guards were set to stop people breaking out of the locked houses. (All Info About London's homepage: http://london.allinfo-about.com/features/plague.html) Thousands of Londoners lived on boats on the River Thames during the height of the plague and many of these survived. members of the exploration team decided to pack up base camp, and Geoffrey offered to pick up Almásy in his plane. However, Geoffrey Clifton arrived with Katharine and tried to kill all three of them by crashing the plane. Geoffrey Clifton died immediately. Katharine survived, but was horribly injured. Almásy took her to "the cave of swimmers" and left to find help. After four days, he reached a town, but the British were suspicious of him because he had a foreign surname. They locked him up as a spy. When Almasy escaped it was too late to save Katharine. He helped Germans and after three years he went back to desert and found Katharine. He put her to the plane and started flying. That is the part, how the story started. Plane made the crash and Almasy got burnt. · In my opinion this book was worth of reading, though firsty it seemned rather confusing, because sometimes I coulnd't catch who was the narrative. Book was enthralling and interesting to read

Bench press The bench press is a exercise in which, while lying on his back, the person performing the bench press lowers a weight to the level of the chest, then pushes it back up until the arm is straight and the elbows are locked. The exercise focuses on the development of the upper body muscles. Form There is a specific form to the bench press which reduces the chance of injury and maximally challenges the muscles of the chest. A barbell bench press starting position is to be lying on a bench, with the shoulder blades pinched together to avoid recruiting the anterior deltoid during the lift. Feet are kept flat on the ground or end of the bench, with the buttocks always in contact with the bench

state to become educated and learn a trade. Oliver did not mind this, but soon after he arrived, the state decided to implement a plan that would save money by feeding the people very little. After a time on this diet, the boys at the table chose Oliver to go ask the head cook for more gruel. Oliver did this, and was taken away. A flyer was then posted that said the state would give five pounds for someone to take young Oliver off their hands. Chapter3: The board locked up Oliver in what he called the `dark room' all day until someone would take him as an apprentice. After several days of solitary confinement, several beatings, and being made an example of at mealtime, Oliver thought he would do just about anything to leave the workhouse. However, when a chimneysweep, Mr. Gamfield, came to get the money offered and Oliver the boy quickly changed his mind. The board assessing Mr. Gamfield said that the State would only pay three

bet" theory. This theory holds that individuals are committed to the organisation as far as they hold their positions, irrespective of the stressful conditions they experience. However, should they be given alternative benefits, they will be willing to leave the organisation. Mowday, Porter and Steers support the "side-bet" theory by describing organisational commitment as a behaviour "relating to the process by which individuals become locked into a certain organisation and how they deal with this problem. Wiener and Vardi describe organisational commitment as behavioural intention or reaction, determined by the individual's perception of the normative pressure. Meyer and Allen discribes organisational commitment as a psychological state that characterises organisational members' relationship with the organisation and has implications for the decision to continue or discontinue membership in the organisation. ). Besides, there are: THE ATTRIBUTE (WHAT?/WHAT KIND?) and THE ADVERBIAL (WHEN? - adverbial modifier of time/WHERE? – adverbial modifier of place/ HOW? – adverbial modifier of manner) Attributes modify nouns and stand in front of them. Adverbials modify verbs and usually stand behind them: This girl has a beautiful smile. This girl smiles beautifully. Attributes are usually adjectives but sometimes nouns as well: This is an interesting (adjective) story. The kitchen ( noun) door is locked. 2 Word Order in Affirmative Sentences In English the word order is not as flexible as in many other languages. The basic structure of an affirmative sentence is SUBJECT (Who?/What?) – PREDICATE (Action/State) – OBJECT (What?): Monkeys like bananas. Mary has a little lamb. All the world is a stage. The teacher is explaining the rule. Peter is playing the guitar.

My Town

The Knights of the Sword took Tallinn from the Danes in 1227 and made Toompea their fortress. In the middle of the 14th century Denmark sold its possessions in Estonia to the German Teutonic Order; Toompea became the seat of German-born gentry. A fortified wall was built between the Toompea (the Upper Town) and the Lower Town (inhabited by people of a lower social standing), as there were conflicts between the two. The doors and the gates of the wall were locked at night, a procedure which carried on until the end of the 19th century. Tallinn joined the German-dominated Hanseatic League in 1285 and became a junction of trade between East and West: furs, honey, leather and seal fat moved west, while salt, cloth, herring and wine moved 'in the opposite direction. As salt was an important trading commodity, Tallinn is said to have been built on it. Its geographical
