decision to give the best viewing experience which would also make sense but the audience have to be educated enough to see the meaning behind the shots, the dialogue, imagery and put together bigger picture. Furthermore, not everyone will be able to go the cinema. The travel cost, if they live far from the cinema, ticket price, lack of cinemas overall etc will limit cinemas grasp on the society compared to books, which are relatively cost efficient, easy to distribute and mostly always available in the libraries. In my opinion, cinema is rather a medium of opportunities. Driving to the cinema, watching a movie is relatively easy, at least in Estonia. It requires only two hours of my day, few euros and all i have to do is sit and watch. I agree, technically and timewise, cinema is limited as medium and has an obligation by default to be entertaining but recently filmmakers have start

Booklet about Estonia

5 million . Estonia is one of the most sparsely populated country in Europe. With 35 people per square kilometer. Nearly 1/3 of the nation live in the capital Tallinn. Along the coast of Estonia lies many bays and peninsulas. Lots of islands lie off the west- and north coast. The largest of them are Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Geographically Estonia can be divided into 4 parts: North-, South-, West-, and East-Estonia. North-Estonia is relatively flat. Here is a nice coastline with coves, capes and a high coast. South-Estonia is more hillier, but there aren't any mountains or mountain ranges. The highest peak in Estonia is Suur Munamägi and its 318m above sealine. The largest industrial areas are situated in East-Estonia. There are beautiful nature parks in West-Estonia. The inland is mainly agricultural. Estonia is known for its 1000 lakes and beautiful nature. One of the most interesting sight is Jägala Waterfall

Should class attendance be mandatory for university students?

university are quite divided. Both two alternatives have their respective up- and downsides but all aspects considered, which is more beneficial? To start off, the students’ chosen specialty usually reflects their interests which means that said students, in fact, want to attend classes. In this case, it seems unnecessary to make classes mandatory as it will be more time consuming and virtually even pointless for them to explain their reason for absence. After all, it is relatively common that when students take interest in a subject, it is highly unlikely they will deliberately miss a class. Regardless of classes being enjoyable to students, there are always some exceptions. For instance, the lack of motivation is quite a frequent occurrence among university students. This means that even though the chosen specialty might be agreeable to them, some still play truant. Mandatory classes create discipline and perhaps help the students that are in lack of

Ireland Ireland (Irish: Éire, Irish pronunciation:) is a country in north-western Europe. The modern sovereign state occupies about five-sixths of the island of Ireland, which was first partitioned on 3 May 1921. It is bordered by Northern Ireland--part of the United Kingdom--to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Irish Sea to the east and the Celtic Sea and St George's Channel to the South and South-East. The legal name of the state is simply "Ireland", but its legal description the Republic of Ireland is sometimes used to differentiate the state from the island. On 29 December 1937 Ireland became the successor-state to the Irish Free State, itself established on 6 December 1922. Ireland was one of the poorest countries in Western Europe and had high emigration. The protectionist economy was opened in the late 1950s and Ireland joined the European Communities (now the European Un...

For example, in Australia, some parts of The Great Barrier Reef is starting to bleach, these sites are closed to divers in order to improve reefs health (Coral Reefs, 2012). Secondly, tourism cannot be totally sustainable, because all kind of tourism has impacts, including sustainable tourism; however, it can work toward sustainability and making difference in destination (Sustaining Tourism, 2013). For instance, Lake District National Park is doing a relatively good job maintaining park natural beauty and keeping it tidy and clean, however, if groups will take walks in footpaths during bad weather, it can be seen that footpaths are going wider and wider with every step that someone is making. Park can only encourage hikers to go off the tracks, to maintain footpaths. Thirdly, Sustainable tourism must support local community and ensure that money that comes from

Its first broadcast was on July 19, 1955, and it celebrated the 50th anniversary on July 19, 2005. 4 Despite its relatively short history of art music, Estonia today is well respected for its musicianship, with a quality education of classical musicians having produced a high proportion of world-class conductors and singers. Estonian art music came to the forefront as a part of the national romantic movement. Modern Estonian popular music has received attention also in foreign countries, especially on the rock and metal scenes, with such bands as Vanilla Ninja, Metsatöll and Arvo Pärt gaining international acclaim

In 1989 there were 380 students. The next year the number rose sharply, reaching 460. This was due to the fact that two nearby schools were closed and the students from these schools continued their studies in Simuvere. During the next four years the number was relatively stable. In 1995-1996 there was a slight rise caused by the baby boom in 1988-1989. In 1996 the number was greatest, there were nearly 500 students. However, when the local dairy closed in 1997, many families moved elsewhere and the number went down considerably. In 1998 there were 450 students. To sum up, it can be said that the number of students in Simuvere Gymnasium has changed over the years. In the next years the number will

Lacrosse Lehesalu

Lehesalu Andres AT112 Lacrosse Lacrosse Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin played using a small rubber ball and a long-handled stick called a crosse or lacrosse stick, mainly played in the United States and Canada. It is a contact sport which requires padding such as shoulder pads, gloves, helmets, elbow pads, and sometimes even rib guards History Lacrosse, a relatively popular team sport in the Americas, may have developed as early as AD 1100. By the seventeenth century it was well- established and had been documented by Jesuit priests, although the game has undergone many modifications since that time. In the traditional aboriginal Canadian version, each team consisted of about 100 to 1,000 men on a field that stretched from about 500 meters to 3 kilometers long. These lacrosse games lasted from sunup to sundown for two to three days straight

Miks YAR 2004 ei leidnud populaarsust/kasutamist meresõitjate juures? When the YARs were last updated in 2004 at Vancouver there was, for the first time, a lack of consensus between the main commercial stakeholders regarding many of the changes, with shipowning interests also taking the view that the proposed changes were premature, given that the 1994 rules were only a decade old. The 2004 YARs were therefore incorporated in relatively few contracts of carriage. The YAR 2016 largely reflect the YAR 1994, which BIMCO has to date recommended as the basis for general average adjustments, while containing some useful clarifications and additions such as on low value cargoes. Importantly, it has been agreed that an annual interest rate of LIBOR plus 4 percentage points applies according to the new rules, while the commission of 2 per cent on owners' disbursements has been abolished

Austraalia ajalugu

The reason for founding a colony in Australia wasn't the riddance of unwanted people. The British may have hoped to found a naval base in the Pacific, sources of timer and flax. They arrived on 26.01.1788. Things were hard for them and food was short. Things gradually improved and a second and third fleet arrived in years 1790 and 1791. Convicts worked on government land but since 1973 those who behaved well were freed and given land. The first free settlers arrived also that year. Relatively few new people were sent to Australia during the long wars with France from 1793 to 1815. The second governor was John Hunter in 17951800 and he was followed by Philip King. Under King the first colonists settled in Tasmania in 1803, Tasmania was then called Van Diemens Land. In 1813 a path was discovered through the Blue Mountains, that enabled them to spread inland. By 1825 the White population of Australia was about 25,000 with Tasmania having 4,500. The transportation

Sensory Memory. The term “sensory memory” encompasses several types of sensory memories, each related to a different source of information. There is iconic memory, which reflects information from our visual system; echoic memory, which stores information coming from ears; and corresponding memories for each of the other senses. Short-Term Memory: Our Working Memory. Short-term memory is the memory store in which material first has meaning, although the maximum length of retention is relatively short. The specific amount of information that can be held in short-term memory has been identified 7 ±2 items. Long-Term Memory: The Final Storehouse. Material that makes its way from short-term memory to long-term memory enters a storehouse of almost unlimited capacity. Evidence of the existence of long-term memory, as distinct from short-term memory, comes from a number of sources. Because short-term memory following the injury appears to be operative – new

Estonia traditional costumes

Setu women were extremely fond of silver ornaments: on their chest they wore a conical brooch, in addition to various silver chains. Traditionally, the large setu brooch was only worn by women of child-bearing age; nowadays older women, too, use it as a decoration. The men of the southeast wore their shirts loosely on their pants with a belt, similar to the Russian tradition. North Estonia This region was relatively unified and prone to modernisation. Here people were first to adopt fashionable elements, like breeches and coat suit for men, vertically striped skirts for women, and the indigo colour of fabric. Following the fashion of caps among people of higher social standing, which was also quite common in Estonian towns, the peasant women in the vicinity of Tallinn started to wear pot-caps in the second half of the 18th century. Walking for meetings - analysis of a Nilofer Merchant presentation

Estonian Business School ANALYSIS OF A PRESENTATION Home assignment Tallinn 2015 For the home assignment we had to choose one presentation from Ted.com. I chose about a 4 minute presentation by Nilofer Merchant on the following topic: “Got a meeting? Take a walk”. The main reason for choosing this presentation was that I had read Steve Jobs's biographical book and there he talked how he liked to go for a walk when having a meeting and therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to get to know a bit more about something that I already know about. Also, I think that in the future, it pays off to know some easy tricks about how to make your meetings more interesting, more memorable and more healthier. Last thing mentioned in the previous paragraph is nowadays in my opinion, one of the hottest topics and we can see it in the headlines on a daily basis. I am quite sure that people under...

Object-oriented programming.

For example, the class Dog would consist of traits shared by all dogs, such as breed and fur color (characteristics), and the ability to bark and sit (behaviors). Classes provide modularity and structure in an object-oriented computer program. A class should typically be recognizable to a non- programmer familiar with the problem domain, meaning that the characteristics of the class should make sense in context. Also, the code for a class should be relatively self-contained (generally using encapsulation). Collectively, the properties and methods defined by a class are called members. Object A pattern (exemplar) of a class. The class of Dog defines all possible dogs by listing the characteristics and behaviors they can have; the object Lassie is one particular dog, with particular versions of the characteristics. A Dog has fur; Lassie has brown- and-white fur. Method An object's abilities

Illegal Immigration in America - essee

But why are there so many illegal immigrants in the US? Is it truly that difficult to get a green card in the United States? It actually is - the whole process can be very time-consuming and confusing. Sometimes the waiting lists for green cards can be as long as 15 years. There are different ways of getting a green card, one of them is family sponsored, meaning that people with close relatives or family members who are US citizens are eligible for a permanent living permit and this way is relatively fast as it is top priority. There are also employment based green cards but this is mostly only a good option for skilled and well educated people and as we know these type of people aren’t usually an issue when talking about illegal immigration. It is also possible to win a living permit in the green card lottery but this is only for people born in certain countries that do not usually produce a lot of immigrants for the United States. For example people born in China or Mexico would not

Decriminalizing Cannabis in Estonia

Decriminalizing Cannabis in Estonia. Estonia is the leading country in Europe with the highest number of drug fatalities per capita, deaths by fentanyl are raising and current drug policy is not doing its job. According to the most recent data, Estonia's overdose mortality rate is seven times the average in the EU. This is a big concern for a country as little as Estonia, and also a reason why the decriminalizing cannabis topic has grown so popular lately. Cannabis, as a soft drug, is criminalized in Estonia and that fact leads people to go after stronger drugs because by the law they are on the same scale. The popularity of “China white” is growing in Estonia, as it is so easily accessible, but so does the mortality rate because it is very easy to overdose on fentanyl. Estonia should re- form its drug policy because stricter laws and punishments do not change society for the better and current drug polic...

Skateboarding

Skateboarding is an action sport which involves riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. Skateboarding can also be considered a recreational activity, an art form, a job, or a method of transportation.[1] Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report found that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. Skateboarding is relatively modern. Since the 1970s, skateparks have been constructed specifically for use by skateboarders, bikers and inline skaters History Skateboarding was first started in the 1950s, when all across California surfers got the idea of trying to surf the streets. No one really knows who made the first board -- instead, it seems that several people came up with similar ideas at the same time. These first skateboarders started with wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels slapped on the bottom.

forests and Carpathian montane conifer forests. There are four national parks in the Czech Republic. The oldest is Krkonose National Park (Biosphere Reserve), Sumava National Park (Biosphere Reserve), National Park Podyjí, Ceské Svcarsko National Park. 14 WEATHER AND CLIMATE The Czech Republic has a temperate continental climate, with relatively hot summers and cold, cloudy and snowy winters. Most rain falls during the summer. The temperature difference between summer and winter is relatively high, due to the landlocked geographical position. Within the Czech Republic, temperatures vary greatly, depending on the elevation. In general, at higher altitudes, the temperatures decrease and precipitation increases. The wettest area in the Czech Republic is found around Bíl Potok in Jizera Mountains and the driest region is

surrounded by hundreds of islands and islets. To the east of Ireland, separated by the Irish Sea, is the island of Great Britain. Politically, the state Ireland (described as the Republic of Ireland) covers five-sixths of the island, with Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, covering the remainder in the north-east. The first settlements in Ireland date from 8000 BC. By 200 BC Celtic migration and influence had come to dominate the island. Relatively small scale settlement by both the Vikings and Normans in the Middle Ages gave way to complete English domination by the 1600s. Protestant English rule resulted in the marginalisation of the Catholic majority, although in the north-east, Protestants were in the majority. A famine in the mid-1800s caused deaths and emigration. Following a war of independence, Ireland was split into: the independent Irish Free State and Northern Ireland, which remains a part of the United Kingdom

going mainly to Japan, as well as mother-of-pearl and pearl production. Agricultural practices produce sugar, vanilla, rum, and copra (used to extract coconut oil). Despite all of these activities, tourism is by far the leading economic contributor. The island has several hotels to cater to tourists, including twelve 4 and 5-store places like Club Med, for example. 3 Bora Bora experiences a tropical, humid climate with relatively stable temperatures year- round. The island is characterized by its volcanic rock mountains and raised coral beds found at high elevations. Coconut palms, pandanus trees, and breadfruit trees cover the landscape. Like most islands, animal life is not found in abundance although, wild pigs, rats, and lizards can be seen from time to time. The ocean waters surrounding the island. Houses of parliament

his name to Frederick Dent). In 1854 the mechanism was ready to be installed in the tower but this was not possible as the tower was incomplete. Denison was therefore able to spend a number of years testing out different types of escapement on the mechanism as it operated in Dent's workshop. It was during this period that he invented the double three-legged gravity escapement, which enables the clock to keep such accurate time. The next 114 years of the clock's history were relatively serene and Big Ben soon developed a reputation for great accuracy. In 1906, the gas lighting of the dials was replaced by electric lighting. Electric winding of the clock was introduced in 1912. The mechanism was overhauled in 1934 and 1956. St. Stephen's hall is the central meeting place where constituents can meet or "lobby" their Members of Parliament. It is from here that you will be shown your direction either to the House of Lords or Commons.

Rare animals

Can China's rare `bear' survive? Pandas are not a species at an `evolutionary dead end' as is sometimes claimed, according to new research that has been carried out by scientists at Cardiff University and in Sichuan in China. Previous findings have suggested that the serious decline in giant panda numbers in modern times is related to its unusual dietary requirements the species exists almost entirely on bamboo habitat isolation and relatively slow reproductive rate. But this new study, published in Molecular Biology and Evolution, has uncovered an important relationship between the species' decline and human activities. "It is clear that the species has suffered at the hands of human activities such as deforestation and poaching," said Professor Michael Bruford. The research also shows that where habit conservation projects have been properly implemented, the giant panda is flourishing and its numbers are increasing.

Mass Media topic

Mass Media Mass media is a term used to describe those means of communication which can reach large or mass audiences. The most important are probably Television, Radio, the Press and the Internet. Britain and America invented a lot of the technology used by the various modern communications media. In 1829, the typewriter was invented in America. In 1837, the telegraph was invented in Britain. In 18 76, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in America. This made it possible to talk to people thousands of miles away. The telephone is a telecommunications device, which is used to transmit and receive sound. It's one of the most common household appliances in the world today. The English-speaking peoples have always allowed more freedom of speech and of the press than most other countries. This gave them an advantage from the start in communications. Book-publishing g...
