The painting is one of only four female portraits Leonardo painted. Despite sustaining much damage the surface is much rubbed, the background was lightly overpainted with unmodulated black, the upper left corner has been broken and repaired, a transparent veil on the model's head was turned into an extravagant hairdo and several fingers were grossly retouched - it is nonetheless in better condition than many of Leonardo's other paintings. The sitter's hair is confined tightly to her head under a very fine net veil with a woven border of gold-wound threads. As in many of Leonardo's portraits, the composition comprises a pyramidic spiral and the sitter is caught in the motion of turning to her left, reflecting Leonardo's life-long preoccupation with the dynamics of movement. This work in particular shows da Vinci's expertise in painting the human form. The outstretched hand of Cecilia was painted with great detail

environment that is around us. It is surprising how our traditional habits can contribute so strongly to environmental problems. They affect the whole world, even our little country Estonia. We, as individuals, are capable of doing anything to save our world. To begin with, everyday life has been disturbed because of COVID-19. Life stopped during this pandemic not only in China where it started, but also across the globe. When we look at the present situation, very many people are confined to their own homes. In Estonia, students can’t go to school normally, they have to stay behind the computer every day and it is very exhausting. Many parents have lost their jobs because of the virus. And still there are people who won’t listen to the government rules and spread the virus further. Secondly, global warming is increasing at an alarming rate with the progress in technology. In recent years, industrialization and extensive use of automobiles have been observed, and

Much of the earliest Welsh literature was actually composed in or near the country we now call Scotland, as Brythonic speech (the ancestor of Welsh) was not then confined to Wales and Cornwall. While all modern scholarship indicates that the Picts spoke a Brythonic language (based on surviving placenames, personal names and historical evidence), none of their literature seems to have survived into the modern era.

the canopy does not close. It is often believed that savannas are characterized by widely spaced, scattered trees, however in many savanna communities tree densities are higher and trees are more regularly spaced than in forest communities. The open canopy allows sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of C4 grasses. Savannas are also characterised by seasonal water availability, with the majority of rainfall being confined to one season of the year. Savannas can be associated with several types of biomes. Savannas are frequently seen as a transitional zone, occurring between forest and desert or prairie. Although the term savanna is believed to have originally come from a Native American word describing "land which is without trees but with much grass either tall or short", by the late 1800s it was used to mean "land with both grass and trees". It now refers to land with grass

The practical effect of the different monetary limits is that consignments where the intrinsic value is between 22.01 and 150 will qualify for relief from Customs Duty but VAT will still be chargeable. However, it should be noted in particular that there is no relief (from Customs Duty, VAT or excise duty) under this negligible value provision for importations of tobacco products, alcohol products, perfumes or toilet waters irrespective of their value. While this exemption is not confined to private importations, care should be taken to ensure that relief is not granted in respect of single parcels which form part of a larger consignment exceeding the monetary limits. 5. Conditions of the productive animals in farms.

It was found out that in all the broiler farms there were dead and crippled birds. It can be said that most of these problems exict because there is not enough space for birds. They are kept in huge factory sheds, each containing 15,000-25,000 animals. It also means that individual care is impossible which also leads to the fact that those animals suffer day after day for all their life. In almost every pig farm there were many inadmissible problems. For example, pigs were kept in filthy confined pens, they had scars and injuries. Usually they were bodily harmed because of the lack of space. In every third visited piggery there were dead pigs. Furthermore, carcasses were left among the other pigs. In all the visited chicken farms their habitants were stressed and often had signs of pecking. In many of these farms there were dead hens and the corpses were decayed. It is obvious that this is a huge health risk for all the other animals in the farm.

The Murray-Darling river system is one of the largest river systems in the world. There are predominantly dry salt lakes in the flat desert regions of the country lacking in organised drainage. The Australians can get most of their underground water from the Great Artesian Basin, which is the largest and deepest artesian basin in the world. Iti is near Lake Eyre, the Great Dividing Range and the Simpson Desert. An artesian well is a confined aquifer containing groundwater that will flow upwards through a well without the need for pumping. Water may even spurt out of the ground if the natural pressure is high enough. An aquifer provides the water for an artesian well. An aquifer is a layer of soft rock, like limestone or sandstone that absorbs water from an inlet path. Porous stone is confined between impermeable rocks or clay. This keeps the pressure high, so

earth today. Essentially, The Origin of Species approached the problem of evolution through two lines of argument and interpretation, both rooted in the concept of inherited variation. Darwin showed that the distinction between species was not hard and fast. There are varieties of a given intricately adapted to different conditions, that routinely interbred along the boundary between their home territories, but the mixed varieties tend to remain confined to the boundary area, since they are less adapted than either of the base varieties to their own home territories. Specification in nature did not require dramatic jumps, but could emerge out of gradually widening variation. Darwin examined variation under domestication to demonstrate that the deliberate selection of breeders could produce varieties as markedly different from the root stock as the varieties found in nature. Deliberate selection through breeding was obviously a

While the vast majority of crimes occur in impoverished areas, the violence is not confined. The primary criminal concern of a tourist is being a victim of theft. In several cases, armed robberies of Americans have turned violent when the victims resisted handing over valuables. Crime is exacerbated by the fact that police are understaffed and ineffective. Most members of the five southeastern nations had been relocated west, opening 25 million acres of land to white settlement and to slavery. Reservations After being forced off their native lands, many American Indians found life to be most difficult. Beginning in the first half of the 19th century, federal policy dictated that certain tribes be confined to fixed land plots to continue their traditional ways of life. Besides the moral issue of depriving a people of life on their historic land, many economic issues plagued the reservation. Nomadic tribes lost their entire means of subsistence by being constricted to a defined area. Farmers found themselves with land unsuitable for agriculture. Many lacked the know-how to implement complex irrigation systems. Hostile tribes were often forced into the same proximity. The results were disastrous.

The cellular influx of water is manifest as swelling known as edema; the cells of your body become turgid, ballooning and distending with their newly acquired water weight. Edema can affect any cell and can therefore occur anywhere in the body, though it is most immediately noticeable in the hands, feet, ankles, and legs, which appear to plump. But it's when the cells in the brain begin to swell that edema becomes most problematic. Confined to the skull, ballooning neurons quickly run out of room to expand and when the brain swells, things can get ugly. Early symptoms can, paradoxically, resemble heat stroke, and include headache, diarrhea, nausea, cramping, and vomiting. .. regional arrogance of the SouthEast within the UK: it takes for granted that 'Estuary' means the Thames Estuary. There are many estuaries in Great Britain, and several of the emerging regional mega-accents are estuarially based". Other linguists have criticised the term because it suggests that the variety is restricted to the area of the Thames estuary. Trudgill (2001) severely criticises both the concept of EE and its name, among others because "it suggests that it is a variety of English confined to the banks of the Thames Estuary, which it is not". Also Maidment (1994) expresses his negative attitude to the term: "... Estuary English, if it exists at all, is not only spoken on or near the Thames estuary. There is no real evidence that it even originated there. ... the accent of younger speakers in Milton Keynes which is a new city quite a long way from the Thames Estuary has many of the features claimed for EE"

Without this background and the changes in it there would be no new and novel happenings in the Arts. For evaluating the past and present we need a perspective. This perspective cannot be confined to that which is at hand at the present moment: it loses its sense. While examining our present achievements we must not praise them excessively: this may lead to the abasement of the ideal. The essential development of Estonian music has taken place within the past one hundred years. The creation of national symphonic works indicated that a remarkable cultural level had been attained. Secondly, the city authorities of Denver required a hard copy with an engineer’s stamp on it. The legal framework at the time was not able to accommodate 3D as-built models. Due to the fact that almost every subcontractor had to submit a 3D model to the general contractor for review, a comprehensive cash detection was possible. For example, where the HVAC ductwork clashed with a steel beam, an opening was indicated in the model. Because all the ventilation ductwork was hidden in the confined space of the sloping walls, it was important to discover all the clashes during the design phase. This way the structural engineer had enough time to reanalyze the modified beams and make necessary adjustments. Additionally, BIM tools allowed to speed up the shop drawing review process, by viewing the model remotely in Tekla during online meetings. Critical steel members were modeled with alignment control holes to hold a surveyor’s prism. Their

savage." However halting and sporadic these changes in racial attitudes expressed in literature were, most critics agree that by the end of the eighteenth century abolitionism had gained considerable momentum and had become a cause championed by many of England's most respected and influential Romantic writers. By 1770 abolitionism was no longer confined to isolated literary individuals or radical Quakers who for decades had denounced the British slave trade and slavery itself. Thomas Chatterton expressed his disgust for slavery in his 1770 African Eclogues, poems that condemned the inhumanity of English slavers and stressed the innocence of Africans. Two years later, Lord Mansfield ruled that liberty was a hallmark of the British Constitution and that any slave brought to England would automatically be freed

" "Lizzy," cried her mother, "remember where you are, and do not run on in the wild manner that you are suffered to do at home." "I did not know before," continued Bingley immediately, "that you were a studier of character. It must be an amusing study." "Yes, but intricate characters are the most amusing. They have at least that advantage." "The country," said Darcy, "can in general supply but a few subjects for such a study. In a country neighbourhood you move in a very confined and unvarying society." "But people themselves alter so much, that there is something new to be observed in them for ever." "Yes, indeed," cried Mrs. Bennet, offended by his manner of mentioning a country neighbourhood. "I assure you there is quite as much of that going on in the country as in town." Everybody was surprised, and Darcy, after looking at her for a moment, turned silently away. Mrs. Bennet, who fancied she had gained a complete victory over him, continued her triumph.

I will. Ghost My hour is almost come, When I to sulphurous and tormenting flames Must render up myself. HAMLET Alas, poor ghost! Ghost Pity me not, but lend thy serious hearing To what I shall unfold. HAMLET Speak; I am bound to hear. Ghost So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear. HAMLET 38 What? Ghost I am thy father's spirit, Doom'd for a certain term to walk the night, And for the day confined to fast in fires, Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature Are burnt and purged away. But that I am forbid To tell the secrets of my prison-house, I could a tale unfold whose lightest word Would harrow up thy soul, freeze thy young blood, Make thy two eyes, like stars, start from their spheres, Thy knotted and combined locks to part And each particular hair to stand on end, Like quills upon the fretful porpentine: But this eternal blazon must not be To ears of flesh and blood

beyond the mind then emerges by itself. WORK – WITH AND WITHOUT EGO Most people have moments when they are free of ego. Those who are exceptionally good at what they do may be completely or largely free of ego while performing their work. They may not know it, but their work has become a spiritual practice. Most of them are present while they do their work and fall back into relative unconsciousness in their private life. This means their state of Presence is for the time being confined to one area of their life. I have met teachers, artists, nurses, doctors, scientists, social workers, waiters, hairdressers, business owners, and salespeople who perform their work admirably without any self-seeking, fully responding to whatever the moment requires of them. They are one with what they do, one with the Now, one with the people or the task they serve. The influence such people have upon others goes far beyond the function they perform. They

terms, such as "positive" and "negative.") A first rejoinder Not all nondeclaratives are thus bipolar. Consider "wh-" questions, such as "Who robbed the diaper service?," "What time is it?," and "Why did you blow up my boat?" None of these has a "yes" or "no" answer; indeed, each admits a very large range of possible correct answers. Truth-Condition Theories: Davidson's program 119 A second rejoinder The difficulty about lack of truth-value is not confined to nondeclarative sentences. For one thing, it has been argued that certain grammatically declarative sentences lack truth conditions and have only epistemic "assert- ibility" conditions. Most notably, Adams (1965) and others have defended the view that indicative conditionals lack truth conditions and truth-value. Moreover, some philosophers hold (following the Positivists) that certain grammatically declarative sentences are not fact-stating even though they

As an orgasm brewed like a storm inside me, everything tightened and clenched, squeezing. He cursed and shoved one hand beneath my hip, cupping my rear and lifting me into his thrusts so that his cock head stroked over and over the spot that ached for him. "Come, Eva," he ordered harshly. "Come now." I climaxed in a rush that had me sobbing his name, the sensation enhanced and magnified by the way he'd confined my body. He threw his head back, shuddering. "Ah, Eva!" He clasped me so tightly I couldn't breathe, his hips pumping as he came long and hard. I've no idea how long we lay like that, leveled, mouths sliding over shoulders and throats to soothe and calm. My entire body tingled and pulsed. "Wow," I managed finally. "You'll kill me," he muttered with his lips at my jaw. "We're going to end up fucking each other to death." "Me? I didn't do anything

for that of other American cryptosystems. Far and away the largest of N.S.A.'s three operating branches is the Office of Production, or PROD, with a little more than half of N.S.A.'s entire headquarters personnel. What PROD produces is communications intelligence. The term must be taken in the broadest possible sense. For although it includes cryptanalysis, traffic analysis, and analysis of cleartext traffic, it is not confined to studies of man talking to man. Communications intelligence in the Cold War includes machines talking to machines—the self-interrogations of radars, the remote-control systems of guided missiles, the telemetry of artificial satellites, the I.F.F. or identification-friend-or-foe systems. All these are communications devices, usually radios modified in one way or another, and a great deal can be learned from their location and operation. N.S.A. entered this
