Christmas differentces of 2 countries
This reports purpose is to analyse Estonian and English Christmas traditions . It compares the meaning of this tradition , decorations, eating habits, activities and Father Christmas.
Firstly, for English people this traditions means to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ , but on the other hand for Estonian peole it means to celebrate the mid- winter holidays and religous people go to church .
Secondly, for Estonian people decorating their homes is big part of christmas. People in the countryside bring straw into the house, they decorate their homes and bring in fir- trees . The traditional Christmas flowers are hyacinth, Christmas cactus and the poinsettia . Differentce from the English people decoration is that their decarations are from paper , they have electric lights, also have evergreen plants : holly , mistletoe and ivy. They bring a huge fir-tree from Norway on Trafalgar Square .
Thirdly, from the activities there is one similaritie, Estonian and also English people send Christmas cards, but the differents of these cards is that Estonian people cards are with winter pictures and Father Christmas, English people send cards mostly with religious pictures. Big differents of activities is that English people go to Carol Services and peform Nativity plays . A traditional feature of Christmas afternoon is the Queen ’s Christmas message to the commonwelth of nations broadcast on TV and radio . In Estonia people celebrate pre-Christmas with parties at work places . Estonias have a tradition of a sauna before Christmas services. Also people light candles at the grave of dead relatives.Children learn songs, poems , dances for Father Christmas. On December 24 the President of Estonia declares Christmas Peace and attends a Christmas Service .
Fourthly, eating habist are quite opposite. English peole dinner consists of roast turkey, roast potatoes, brussels sprouts , chestnuts, cranberry sauce , tiny sausages, wrapped in bacon . For dessert they have a blazing Christmas Pudding and for drink eggnog. But, Estonian people Christmas meals are large – baked pork or goose struffed with apples or sauerkraut, black pudding with cowberry/red billberry jam, meat jelly with vinegar and strong mustard, glazed ginger- bread . People drink home-brewed ale and mead.
Lastly, Father Chistmas in Estonia arrives with a huge bag bulging with gifts in the afternoon. Children are expected to sing, danc or recite poems to claim their presents . But, in England children find their gifts on the morning of Detcember 25 in their stockings bulging with gifts brought by Fater Chistmas at night . Family presents are found under the Christmas tree. Also, children visit Father Christmas in shops, where they recive small presents.
Around the world, Christmas celebrations can vary markedly in form, reflecting differing cultural and national traditions.I think, by the year 2050, the traditions will have survived and Christmas sitll have a meaning.

It is not unusual to have Christmas Day well into the mid 30 degrees Celsius, or near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A traditional meal includes a turkey dinner, with ham, and pork. A flaming Christmas plum pudding is added for dessert. In the Australian gold rushes, Christmas puddings often contained a gold nugget. Today a small favor is baked inside. Whoever finds this knows s/he will enjoy good luck. Another treat is Mince Pies. Some Australians and particularly tourists often have their Christmas dinner at midday on a local beach, Bondi Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs attracts thousands of people on Christmas Day. Overworked people treasure days that bring rest and recreation and allow them to meet their families and friends.
