Title: Alice ´s Adventures in Wonderland
Retold by Jennifer Bassett
Publisher and year : Oxford University Press, 2000
Nr of pages: 42
Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland is a great fantasy tale. It´s about little girl named Alice who is the main character of the story. She is an English girl with lots of imagination. Alice is very polite and well rised. Sometimes she upsets the creatures of the Wonderland. Alice is also smart and she likes to show off her knowledge . She gets easily upset when somebody is not polite with her. The queen of Hearts is a fantasy creature of Wonderland. She is a ruler of Wonerdland. The Queen is a card from pack of playing cards but somehow she is able to talk and rule the Wonderland. She is very impatient and has explosive character. All Wonderland inhabitants are scared of The Queen of Hearts
Alice´s adventures in Wonderland begin when she and her sister are sitting under the tree. Her sister is reading a book which has no pictures or conversations in it. Suddenly a speaking White Rabbit runs past Alice and she decides to run after the Rabbit. She falls down the deep hole and finds herself in a room . Very small door leads to the beautiful garden . When Alice finds herself in forest she meets with a Caterpillar who gives Alice some advice. She goes on and finds a little house where she meets a Duchess with a baby. Duchess gives the baby to Alice and she goes for a walk with the baby but suddenly the baby turnes to a pig and runs away. Alice next meets the Cheshire cat who helps her to find her way through the forest. Alice goes to the tea party and meets with the March Hare , the Hatter and the Dormouse. Alice leaves them and finds a tree with a door in it which leads to the garden. She meets there with the Queen of Hearts who invites Alice to play croquet, which is a very difficult game in the Wonderland. Next the Queen takes Alice to the Gryphon and The Mock Turtle and they tell her many stories about their lives . Soon the Gryphon drags Alice off to see the trial of the Knave of Hearts. The Knave of Hearts had stole the tarts. The Queen of Hearts wants to cut off the Knave of Hearts head but Alice is against it. Then the Queen of Hearts wants cut off her head too. Then the pack of cards fly up and begin to fall on Alice`s face. She gives a little scream and wakes up of a dream.
An interesting story happened when Alice went to the tea party she saw a long table under the tree where March Hare, the Hatter and the Dormouse were having tea. Once time stopped for the Hatter it has been always six o` clock . That means it`s always teatime. Alice sat down on a chair. At the beginning March Hare seemed impolite to Alice because March Hare asked does Alice wants some coffee but there wasn`t any coffee. They played some wordgames and the Dormouse told stories which Alice enjoyed. Alice leaves them and finds a tree with a door in it which leads to the garden where another interesting story begins . Alice just got to the garden and saw a crowd of unusual people. It was a pack of cards walking through the garden. Behind them were walking the King and Queen of Hearts. When the Queen of Hearts met Alice she invited her to play croquet. It was the strangest game of croquet in Alice`s life. The balls were hedgehogs and the mallets were flamingoes. Soon the Queen got angry because all the players were arguing for hedgehogs.
Right in the beginning Alice had a problem when she fell down the hole and found herself in the room full of doors but one door was very small. Then she saw a key for the small door which led to a beautiful garden on the table but the table was too high. Soon she saw a piece of cake. Alice ate that and got very tall and took the little key from the table but now she is too tall to get through the door. She began to cry and soon she swam in a pool of tears . Suddenly the White Rabbit led her to forest. Alice met there the Caterpillar who recommended to eat a mushroom. One side of the mushroom makes her taller and one smaller. Alice found a door and she was back in the room full of doors. She took the key from table, unlocked the door, ate one side of the mushroom, got smaller and went through the door.

Väljas seisis puu all laud, kus Märtsijänes ja Kübarsepp jõid teed. „ Me pole sind kutsunud siia teed jooma.“ ütles Märtsijänes. „Aga siin on palju kohti.“ Ütles Alice. „ Sinu juuksed on liiga pikad.“ Ütles kübarsepp vaadates Alicit huviga. „Selliseid asju pole viisakas öelda.“ Ütles Alice.

Through the Looking-Glass

Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll The BLACK kitten had once again made a mess in the living room with a ball of worsted you see it could have not been the white kitten, Snowbell, as she was having her face washed by Dina. Alice caught the black kitten and settled into an arm-chair to wind up the worsted again. Soon forgetting all about it she started wondering if Kitty could play chess. And thus her favourite game of "Let's pretend" started. Suddenly the Looking-Glass House caught Alice's attention. She had always been wondering about the Looking-Glass world. It was so tempting. Without even noticing she was on the mantelpiece and through the looking-glass. The room was quite uninteresting and untidy. But

And as a matter of fact she was moved so deeply that her raised hand fell lower every second until she was totally in his arms. "Your highness...my dear Eliza...I really must to go now!" he whispered sadly. "No!" she cried, but Edward turned fast away and in a few moments was gone. The princess looked at the big oval mirror that was standing by the window and seemed surprised of her own temper. She looked still confused when her mother, the beloved queen Alice of the Scots, entered the main hall. "Well, well, well..." the old woman said looking at her pale daughter, "May I at least know whom this lucky man is?" Eliza was staring in bold air not noticing even the loud question. The queen laughed and walked to the library. "A baby..." whispered the young lady suddenly. Alice stopped and seemed very surprised. "Yes, my dear?" she said, "What baby?" Eliza waved dreamy her hand and left for the Royal Garden, where the soldiers were situated.

Kordamine inglise keele eksamiks A 1.1 Read the text and answer the questions below. Dear Mary-Alice, It's been ages since I last wrote to you, isn't it weird? Yes, so it is, but, I do have a certain reason. Do you remember Sir Thom of the Minquettes'? That fine young man with fascinating blue eyes... Oh, my sweet Mary, you will never guess what happened yesterday! It was about seven o'clock in the evening when Lillian called me out for a walk you know I can't say `no' to my little sis. Anyway we went to the forest near the Swan Lake and, believe it or not, got lost! Awful! I was so scared... We walked and walked, not even knowing the direction we were heading to, until we reached a huge mansion. And the garden around it was so extraordinary... That is something you just must see! But neither the trees nor flowers could be as wonderful as the owner himself! Sir Thom treated us tea and sandwiches, not forgetting to show us way back to the village. He was so kind, don't you think?

He looked away quickly, more quickly than I could, though in a flush of embarrassment I dropped my eyes at once. In that brief flash of a glance, his face held nothing of interest -- it was as if she had called his name, and he'd looked up in involuntary response, already having decided not to answer. My neighbor giggled in embarrassment, looking at the table like I did. "That's Edward and Emmett Cullen, and Rosalie and Jasper Hale. The one who left was Alice Cullen; they all live together with Dr. Cullen and his wife." She said this under her breath. I glanced sideways at the beautiful boy, who was looking at his tray now, picking a bagel to pieces with long, pale fingers. His mouth was moving very quickly, his perfect lips barely opening. The other three still looked away, and yet I felt he was speaking quietly to them. Strange, unpopular names, I thought. The kinds of names grandparents had. But maybe that was in vogue here -- small town names

The Life-Changing Competition

A life-changing competition Finally, it was the 1st May the final day of the Youth Rock Competition. Many student bands from all over the country were preparing for the final battle. The Raven wasn't an exception. The vocalist, Daemon, practiced the guitar, while the others tried to calm down from the pressure that was thickening the air. Matrix, the guitarist, had taken his little sister with him. While he himself was practicing with the Ravens, Alice sat amongst the public. Suddenly, someone shook her hand. The girl turned and saw one extravagant-looking woman. "You are Alice Owen, right? The legendary Billy Owen' s youngest daughter?" Alice smiled and nodded. "Yet I don't believe my father is a legend." "Well, for me he's an idol! I've always dreamed about his live-concert! And, now, finally, I can hear his singing!" "He's just opening the competition..." But the woman seemed very happy, so Alice decided not to ruin her mood and agreed
