Introduction of SCM

INTRODUCTION OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM) A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that performs the functions of procurement of materials, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. Supply chains exist in both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary greatly from industry to industry and firm to firm. Supply chain management is typically viewed to lie between fully vertically integrated firms, where the entire material flow is owned by a single firm and those where each channel member operates independently. Therefore coordination between the various players in the chain is key in its effective management

More than 1.9 billion servings of their beverages are enjoyed by consumers in more than 200 countries each day (World of Coca-Cola). As the numbers are so immense and hard to imagine, it is appropriate to mention the reach of Coca-Cola Company. It manages six operating segments in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, North America and Asia. These segments primarily manufacture and sell beverage concentrates and syrups. The biggest segment is North America, accounting for nearly 30% of revenue (World of Coca-Cola). Role in IPE Coca-Cola's role in international political economy is undoubtedly very great. There are not too many beverage companies that can compete with Coca-Cola and therefore it has the ruling position on international level of beverage companies

Monopoly main characteristics were that firm is single seller of the product without any close substitutes. Nowadays DeBeers have many substitutes and that is the reason why they are not a pure monopoly, but they are definitely nearly one. This is because the firm still has the bulk of world sales and controls 45% of world diamonds market. This paper examines these monopoly characterises, also how and why DeBeers diamonds monopoly still exists and what benefits they give the world. Also how the firm handled the problems which resulted from new government regulations to make the diamond industry more competitive. De Beers Diamonds is a Swizz-based company which was founded in 1888 by Cecil Rhodes, a British Business man

The Burger King menu has evolved from a basic offering of burgers, fries, sodas and milkshakes in 1954 to a larger, more diverse set of offerings that includes several variations of chicken, fish, salads and breakfast. The Whopper, a sandwich that has since become Burger King's signature product, was the first major addition to the menu by Mr. McLamore in 1957. Not all introductions have had the success of the Whopper; BK has introduced many products which failed to catch hold in the marketplace. Some products that have failed in the US have seen success in foreign markets, where BK has also tailored its menu for regional tastes. The company's "Golden Age" of advertising was during the 1970s when it introduced its mascot the Magical Burger King, a memorable jingle, and several well known and parodied slogans. Beginning in the early 1980s, its advertising began to lose focus; a series of less

THE CAPITALIST NIGER

Am I supposed to take delight in telling this story, which we as a people have done nothing to stop from happening again, and which is in fact even happening at greater frightening speed than the 17th century? The Black race is a slave – pure and simple – an economic slave. I am frightened and disgusted at the same time, at a people who produce nothing and consume everything that others produce. We are always ready to make excuses about the inventions and products our people have perfected in long gone eras, but which have been stolen from us, and the ones who stole them have gone on to become very rich. This is nothing but an excuse for our failures. In 1987, David Sun and John Tu, both immigrants, started their Kingston Technology Company in Fountain Valley, California with hardly much financing 3 other than their savings. Nine years later they sold 80 percent of the company to the Softbank

language control techniques to connect your ideas logically and effectively. If you have a well documented list of techniques to connect your ideas effectively the writing process is less formidable. You will want to know how to join similarities, compare and contrast certain facts, introduce the next topic, offer a supporting idea, or refer to previously presented facts. You will also need to know how to present different shades of argument to produce logically a recommendation you wish to make. This requires an ability to emphasise certain facts and 'bury' others. However, all facts need to be linked to give a logical flow. This unit will give you language practice in this important aspect of producing written documents.
