Introduction of SCM

INTRODUCTION OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM) A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that performs the functions of procurement of materials, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. Supply chains exist in both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary greatly from industry to industry and firm to firm. Supply chain management is typically viewed to lie between fully vertically integrated firms, where the entire material flow is owned by a single firm and those where each channel member operates independently. Therefore coordination between the various players in the chain is key in its effective management

We use a lot of energy - in our homes, in businesses, inindustry, and for traveling between all these different places. The industrial sector uses almost one-third of the total energy. The residential and commercial sectors combined use 39 percent of all energy. These two sectors include all 4 types of buildings, such as houses, offices, stores, restaurants, and places of worship. Energy used for transportation accounts for more than a quarter of all energy. Picture 2.1. Manual regarding the Customs Treatment of Gifts and Items of Negligible Value

Consignments of item(s) not exceeding a total intrinsic value of 22 may be imported without payment of VAT. The practical effect of the different monetary limits is that consignments where the intrinsic value is between 22.01 and 150 will qualify for relief from Customs Duty but VAT will still be chargeable. However, it should be noted in particular that there is no relief (from Customs Duty, VAT or excise duty) under this negligible value provision for importations of tobacco products, alcohol products, perfumes or toilet waters irrespective of their value. While this exemption is not confined to private importations, care should be taken to ensure that relief is not granted in respect of single parcels which form part of a larger consignment exceeding the monetary limits. 5. near future become a wealthy free market democracy and a full member of the European and Euro-Atlantic communities. Ukraine never fulfilled those expectations. Instead, it is seen as an underachiever, sometimes as a sick man of Europe, and perhaps even as a potentially failed state thanks to its geopolitical situation, historical burdens, and the mistakes made in institutional development and policy. Economically, Ukraine has grown along with the region. As such, growth rates have not been low, but they come after the economically devastating 1990s and are not built on a 6 sustainable foundation. For years Russia provided Ukraine with underpriced gas while Ukraine's export prices increased rapidly. Over the decades Ukraine, however, grew dependent on oil and gas coming from Russia, at almost no cost. Today, 70 percent of gas consumed in the country is imported.

Biogas – The source of future energy

Unintentional production of biogases has been an ongoing issue in many regions of the world, and several nations have also looked to biogas as a potential source of clean energy. India and China have both invested extensively in creative biogas technology to provide fuel for their citizens and there are a number of interesting applications for this gas which appeal to people who are interested in sustainable energy and the health of the environment. The basis for biogas is organic material such as food scraps and feces which are held in an anaerobic area, which can range from a storage tank which is not ventilated to a device which is specifically designed to produce gases. The conditions attract anaerobic bacteria, which start to break down the organic material, producing methane and carbon dioxide as a by-product. Another type of biogas which includes hydrogen, nitrogen, and carbon monoxide can be obtained

Firstly clay bricks are known for centuries as one of the most solid and reliable structural elements is set to play a role in reducing global warming. Apart form the many benefits obtained from using clay bricks in construction, such as their durability, insulation properties and aesthetic qualities, recent findings show that they also produce less carbon emissions than any other masonry material. History (slide 3) In more detail the earliest bricks were dried bricks, meaning they were formed from clay- bearing earth or mud and dried usually in the sun until they were strong enough for use. The oldest discovered bricks, originally made from shaped mud and dating before 10000 BC, were

The nature of the construction industry is very often characterized as the following (Koskela2 1992): Low productivity Poor safety Inferior working conditions Insufficient quality The construction industry is seen as an unproductive production system if compared with other industries, e.g., car manufacturing (Koskela and Vrijhoef 2001; Winch 1998). The traditional cuisine of Estonia has substantially been based on meat and potatoes, and on fish in coastal and lakeside areas, but is influenced by many other cuisines by now. In the present day it includes a variety of international foods and dishes, with a number of contributions from the traditions of nearby countries. German, Scandinavian, Russian and other influences have played their part. The most typical foods in Estonia have been rye bread, pork, potatoes and dairy products. Estonian eating habits have historically been closely linked to the seasons. In terms of staples, Estonia belongs firmly to the beer, vodka, rye bread and pork "belt" of Europe. The name Petroleum covers both naturally occurring unprocessed crude oils and petroleum products that are made up of refined crude oil. A fossil fuel, it is formed when large quantities of dead organisms, usually zooplankton and algae, are buried underneath sedimentary rock and undergo intense heat and pressure. Petroleum is recovered mostly through oil drilling. This comes after the studies of structural geology (at the reservoir scale), sedimentary basin analysis, reservoir characterization (mainly in terms of porosity and permeable structures). BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES Abstract District heating (DH) offers low primary energy demand, high security of supply and small CO 2 emissions. Barriers to DH in the UK, Ireland, France, Romania and the Czech Republic have been compiled through publications and interviews. DH systems require large investments, have negative initial cash flow and long payback time, which obstructs financing. One actor should control DH from source to consumption. If the value chain is fragmented, contracts are required between the links. It increases risks and financing costs, like in the UK and Ireland, where DH is not established. There are few multi- family houses with central heating and it is expensive to build DH networks in built areas.

A high profile game is endowed with massive development costs (perhaps US$5 million or more), a generous advertising budget, a large development staff, and a very visible presence for game retailers and magazines. To recoup the enormous upfront expenses, high profile games tend to utilise cutting-edge graphics (which require high hardware performance), and tie-ins with other media such as movies or books. A low profile game is aimed at a smaller market, and may be limited to a single platform, or user community. It may have been developed by a single person (or small group), and be advertised in specialized newsgroups and mailing lists, leading to a substantial reduction in costs. Low profile games may have less `polish', use less state-of the-art graphics, and place more emphasis on game design and characterization
