Kristofer Seppel et al. International Conference on Traffic & Transport Psychology. Tartu, University of Life Sciences, Language Centre, 2015. The articles were about person's driving reflexes, based on research of driver reaction time. The main object of this game was to find out your reflexes on the road to reaveal how 'old' you are between 18 and 90 years old. While the basic principles generalize to estimating other reaction times, the exact numbers do not. Each type of reaction time has its own pecularities that must be examined. For example, reaction time for a shooter who is tracking a target might be 0.4 second, but even this would be a function of trigger pull weight. The data revealed that range of factors seem to affect player's concentration. For example, the average reaction time of drivers is 10 percent faster than that of non- drivers, and those that slept for eight hours the night before the survey reported the fastest...

Computer games - for and against

Computer games for and against Nowadays people of all ages all around the world are spending a lot of time playing computer games. It's a general consensus, that playing video games is bad for people's mental and physical health. But is playing computer games really all around bad? First of all I'd like to point put the negative sides of computer gaming. One, that instantly comes to mind is addiction. Nowadays video gaming addiction is fairly common occurence, when kids don't think about anything but playing games on the computer and sacrificing hours upon hours of studying and socializing to play "a few more" rounds. Another bad thing is teen obesity. It's confirmed that the risk being overweight is increased for every hour spent behind the computer. This is caused by lack of physical activity, because people are spending their free time at home, killing terrorists and racing in video game instead of going ...

Summary - IT in motorsport

Summary I made my presentation about infotechnology usage in motorsport. I chose this topic because I am an infotechnology student and also I have been rally driver since 2009. I believed this could be interesting topic for others to hear because you can’t really find much information about the technologies used in different motorsport disciplines from the Internet but you can learn about them usually when somebody tells you about those technologies. Because I’m a rally driver and I know most about rallying I focused on rally and in addition talked little bit about Formula One and also about simulators. Most of the information I used to make this presentation was based on my personal experience. In addition, I found some interesting technologies which are used in Formula One from the Internet. Most interesting hi-tech solutions used in rally are in my opinion ride height control with GPS and launch...

Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was one of the greatest and widely loved silent movie stars. From "Easy Street" (1917) to "Modern Times" (1936), he made many of the funniest and most popular films of his time. He was best known for his character, the naive and lovable Little Tramp. The Little Tramp, a well meaning man in a raggedy suit with cane, always found himself wobbling into awkward situations and miraculously wobbling away. More than any other figure, it is this kind-hearted character that we associate with the time before the talkies. Born in London in 1889, Chaplin first visited America with a theater company in 1907. Appearing as "Billy" in the play "Sherlock Holmes", the young Chaplin toured the country twice. On his second tour, he met Mack Sennett and was signed to Keystone Studios to act in films. In 1914 Chaplin made his first one-reeler, "Making a Living". That same year he made thirty-four more short films, including "Caught in a Caba...

Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley Could you reproduce Silicon Valley elsewhere, or is there something unique about it? It wouldn't be surprising if it were hard to reproduce in other countries, because you couldn't reproduce it in most of the US either. What does it take to make a silicon valley even here? What it takes is the right people. If you could get the right ten thousand people to move from Silicon Valley to Buffalo, Buffalo would become Silicon Valley. That's a striking departure from the past. Up till a couple decades ago, geography was destiny for cities. All great cities were located on waterways, because cities made money by trade, and water was the only economical way to ship. Now you could make a great city anywhere, if you could get the right people to move there. So the question of how to make a silicon valley becomes: ...

My Teacher

My teacher There are many teachers in the World, but no such else have I seen as I have now. When furious, her eyes have a poisonous flame of danger in it; when glad, her silent praise is like the soft wind of pleasing sakuras. Every day we spend no matter the emotional appearance, is filled with lots of happy laughter and fun remarks no other teacher even notices about her students: my teacher is a really special, yet mysterious person. Her light eyes turn grey on rainy days, blue on sunny ones; sweet dimples decorate her blushing cheeks when she smiles; a little piped pink lips with big soft edges make her complexion sparkle every moment they say something she would be perfect if her character wasn't so ill-natured sometimes. She gets angry too easily: every word that comes to our mind must be carefully thought through before spoken out loudly. One day, for example, we were just jok...

Stress

Stress Stress is a necessary part of nature. It´s the organism´s defence mechanism for changes in the surrounding enviorment. Without it we could not survive. Stress has many effects on the body that are necessary for a reaction to the stressor. When an animal senses danger, it automatically triggers a fight or flight response. In case of a lifethreatening situation, stress is an invaluable ally. It can even motivate us to prepeare for upcoming challenges. But as we move further and further from our natural habitat, stress becomes more of nuisance than a lifesaver. Things that cause stress to the modern man are nothing compared to the problems that troubled our ancestors. Few hundred years ago the average european was still worrying about his livestock being looted. But we feel that a Powerpoint presentation that is due tomorrow is something that threatens our existance. Stress can cause some people u...

Agriculture

Agriculture About 77 per cent of the land area of Britain is under agricultural use of some sort. However, the sector's role in the economy is much smaller than in most other major industrial countries, in terms of employment and contribution to GDP, reflecting Britain's early industrialization. Agriculture employs less than 2 per cent of the population and contributes 2 per cent of GDP. However, it achieves high levels of efficiency and productivity. Britain is self-sufficient in 58 per cent of all types of food and animal feed. Large parts of Britain, notably in Scotland and Wales, are suitable only for grazing. Overall, in the first half of the 1990s about 39 per cent of agricultural land was under pasture, another 27 per cent under rough grazing, and the remainder under crops or lying fallow. Over half of all full-time farms are devoted to dairy or beef farming, or sheep. Cattle and sheep con...

1. Kineetika uurimise vajalikkus, seos termodünaamikaga. Kiirus võib olla otsustava tähendusega produktide tekkel! Vaatamata, et reaktsiooni vaba energia muut on negatiivne võib produkte mitte tekkida piisaval hulgal ja kiirest. Kiirus on aeglane Keemiline kineetika on füüsikalise keemia osa, mis kirjeldab reaktsioonide ajalist kulgu matemaatiliste võrrandite abil. Termodünaamika annab vastuse reaktsioonide kulgemise võimalikkuse kohta, kuid kineetiline analüüs näitab, kui kiiresti saabub tasakaal. Termodünaamiline tasakaalukonstant annab võimaluse arvutada reaktsiooni võrrandile vastavat max. saagist, kuid ei räägi midagi reaktsiooni kiirusest. Keemiliste reaktsioonide ja protsesside planeerimisel on tähtis: kirjeldada matemaatiliselt reaktsiooni kulgemist leida seos reaktsiooni kiiruse ja temperatuuri vahel eeldada reaktsiooni võimalikku mehhanismi reaktsioo...

Referencing style, kuidas kirjandites autoritele viidata

REFERENCING STYLE The following recommendations have been taken from The Standing Committee on Publications of the British Psychological Society, Suggestions to Contributors, Leicester: BPS, 1979. You should always follow these recommendations in your written work. The BPS journals use the author-date method of citation, that is the surname of the author and the year of publication are inserted in the text at the appropriate point, for example: Rabbitt (1970) compared reaction times... Or In a recent study of reaction times, Rabbitt (1970) found... Or In 1970, Rabbitt compared.. These methods enable the reader to locate easily the citation in the reference list given at the end of the report. If a work has two authors, cite both names in the text every time, e.g. Smith & Jones (1974). If a work has three or more authors, give names in full...

Chapter Ninteen Selfish After staying out all night to watch the Cullens' battle exercises, Bella sleeps late into the following afternoon. When she wakes, Edward reminds her that she could -- and should -- have stayed behind, but she insists that she is now part of the family and should be included. While she's getting breakfast, Edward notices Jake's wolf charm dangling from Bella's wrist. He asks to see it and for a fleeting instant Bella worries he might break it. But he only points out the inequity: Jake is allowed to give her presents and he is not. Bella shrugs and says that Edward has already given her more than she could ever deserve: himself. Each reflects for a moment on the other's ridiculous inability to see themselves clearly. Edward asks if she would accept a charm from him too. Nothing expensive: a hand-me-down. Bella agrees, relieved that his reaction was no worse. When Alice calls Edward, Bella nervously guesses t...

Food Microstructure and Starch Digestion

Slide 1 Good morning/afternoon/evening! My name is //////// and my topic is food microstructure and starch digestion. The presentation is approximately 7-10 minutes long and I will be glad to answer your questions at the end. Slide 2 Starch is important carbohydrate in human diet containing in potatoes, maize, rice, cassava. It is produced by most green plants as energy source. Pure starch is a white, tasteless and odorless powder that is insoluble in cold water or alcohol. It consists of two types of molecules: the linear and helical amylose and the branched amylopectin. Depending on the plant, starch generally contains 20 to 25% amylose and 75 to 80% amylopectin by weight. Glycogen, the glucose store of animals, is a more highly branched version of amylopectin. In industry, starch is converted into sugars, for example by malting, and fermented to produce ethanol in the manufacture of beer, whisky and biofuel. It is processed to produc...

Hemingway A Farewell to Arms (main characters)

Analysis of Major Characters Frederic Henry - In the sections of the novel in which he describes his experience in the war, Henry portrays himself as a man of duty. He attaches to this understanding of himself no sense of honor, nor does he expect any praise for his service. Even after he has been severely wounded, he discourages Rinaldi from pursuing medals of distinction for him. Time and again, through conversations with men like the priest, Ettore Moretti, and Gino, Henry distances himself from such abstract notions as faith, honor, and patriotism. Concepts such as these mean nothing to him beside such concrete facts of war as the names of the cities in which he has fought and the numbers of decimated streets. Against this bleak backdrop, Henry's reaction to Catherine Barkley is rather astonishing. The reader understands why Henry responds to the game that Catherine proposes--why he pledges his love to a woman he barely kn...

The Cataclysmic Death of Stars

The Cataclysmic Death of Stars Republished from the pages of National Geographic magazine Written by Ron Cowen March 2007 Ever since he was a teenager, Stan Woosley has had a love for chemical elements and a fondness for blowing things up. Growing up in the late 1950s in Texas, "I did everything you could do with potassium nitrate, perchlorate, and permanganate, mixed with a lot of other things," he says. "If you mixed potassium nitrate with sulfur and charcoal, you got gunpowder. If you mixed it with sugar, you got a lot of smoke and a nice pink fire." He tested his explosive concoctions on a Fort Worth golf course: "I screwed the jar down tight and ran like hell." "kaboomWoosley", now an astronomer at the University of California at Santa Cruz, has graduated to bigger explosions--much bigger. Woosley studies some of the most powerful explosions since the birth of the universe: supernovae, the violent deaths of stars. The universe twi...

American Art Revision Materials

American Art Revision Materials Colonial Period Portraiture. The first typically American paintings were illustrated maps but painting remained scarce during C17. There were 4 reasons: settlers came from backgrounds where art was unusual, Protestant attitudes was averse to imagery and painting, the English were not yet distinguished in visual arts and religious art was non-existent. The colonial period is almost entirely limited to portraiture (deemed as `useful' by settlers). These first paintings were made by limners and artisans without formal training and were based on what was popular in England during the Tudors. The paintings are technically unskilled, strongly patterned, flat and linear. Spanish painting in America was mostly religious. In C18, painting was a luxury and necessitated wealth that had by then become available. Portraitures remained at the forefront because the rich could thusly display their status and becaus...

The paintings are technically unskilled, strongly patterned, flat and linear. Spanish painting in America was mostly religious. In C18, painting was a luxury and necessitated wealth that had by then become available. Portraitures remained at the forefront because the rich could thusly display their status and becaus...

Work as a calling and organisational commitment Organisational commitment Definition Multiple definitions of organisational commitment are found in the literature. There is some of them. In organisational behavior and industrial and organisational psychology, organisational commitment is the individual's psychological attachment to the organisation. Organisational commitment predicts work variables such as turnover, organisational citizenship behavior, and job performance. In Business Dictionary is written that organisational commitment is a strength of the feeling of responsibility that an employee has towards the mission of the organisation. Porter et al further describes organisational commitment as an attachment to the organisation, characterised by an intention to remain in it; an identification with the values and goals of the organisation; and a willingness to exert extra effort on its behalf. The Queens of England

Mary I Mary I, called Mary Tudor (1516-1558), Queen of England (1553-1558). Mary was born in London on February 18, 1516, the daughter of Henry VIII by his first wife, Catherine of Aragón. Nonetheless, Henry included her in his will, and on the death of her half-brother, Edward VI, on July 6, 1553, she became the legal heir to the throne. Although Lord High Chamberlain John Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, favoured the succession of his daughter-in-law, Lady Jane Grey, and proclaimed her queen on July 10, the country supported Mary. Britain history.

Britain History Pre-Norman Britain The Iberians brought their metal-working skills and the first real civilization to Britain in the third millennium B.C and were overrun by various Celtic invasions that began in the 8th century. The Celts introduced their tribal organization and an early form of agriculture before they were forced westward by the Roman invasion. Forms of Celtic language are still spoken in Britain. Romans (with Julius Caesar in the head of them) first tried to occupy Britain in 55 B.C., but there was a rebellion in Gaul so they had to leave to fight against it. Next time they came in 43 A.D. and their leader was Emperor Claudius. Romans brought a lot with them. Their brought paved roads, the sites of important cities, the seeds of Christianity, the Roman law, Roman baths, language and advanced civilization. They also built Hadrian's Wall in 122 A.D. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature. It has a pungent, distinct odor and may cause a burning sensation to the eyes, nose, and lungs at high concentrations. Formaldehyde is also known as methanal, methylene oxide, oxymethylene, methylaldehyde, and oxomethane. Formaldehyde can react with many other chemicals, and it will break down into methanol (wood alcohol) and carbon monoxide at very high temperatures. Formaldehyde is naturally produced in very small amounts in our bodies as a part of our normal, everyday metabolism and causes us no harm. It can also be found in the air that we breathe at home and at work, in the food we eat, and in some products that we put on our skin. A major source of formaldehyde that we breathe every day is found in smog in the lower atmosphere. Automobile exhaust from cars without catalytic converters or those using oxygenated ...

To disestablish Disestablishmentarianism refers to campaigns to sever links between church and state, particularly in relation to the Church of England as an established church. It was initially a movement in the United Kingdom in the 18th century. The established churches in Wales and Ireland could not count on even nominal adherence by a majority of the population of those countries. In Ireland, the predominantly Roman Catholic population campaigned against the position of the established Anglican Church of Ireland - eventually disestablished in Ireland from 1 January 1871.
