Fast Development of modern technology- a blessing or a curse?

pollution, noise, green-house effect and nuclear weapons are the things we did not need to bother about in the past. But these problems nowadays are not only making our life inconvenient, but even dangerous. In my opinion, humans are now relatively more powerful. So it is up to men to decide what we should do and what we shouldn't. It is our duty to make science and technology serve human beings better and better. In consequence, we are faced with a glorious task ---- to build a magnificent new civilization by means of advanced science and technology. Only then can we expect to make the development of science and technology a blessing rather than a curse.

Given opportunity, which country would you like to visit: England, Australia, or the United States of America? I have always though of my country as a huge ,,multicultural city". We have so many different cultures from different places put into a little place all together that I could almost say we are a huge city not a country. I would not leave here, but if I had an opportunity to choose which country I would like to visit, I definitely would choose Australia. But why Australia? Australia is located in the Pacific ocean and it's sixth country in the world for it's size. This country doesn't have an official language, but it's national language is English. Australia has much lakes and rivers and climate is dampish and warm. I´ve reasearched and also heard that Australia is a pretty safe country and especially good for beach life, partying, relaxing with friendly locals, wide-...

Our hotel was by the sea and near to the city. Our hotel had different facilities, it had a pool, gym, handicap facilities and many more. Staff in our hotel were really helpful and polite. We spent most of our time by the pool or by the sea. On our trip we sunbathed, went swimming and parasailing. Parasailing was really magnificent experience, I loved it! On our holiday we also went sightseeing, we saw lots of wonderful places. On the last day we went shopping and I bought a present for you. I had really great time in Turkey and I hope to go back there soon. Tell me what have you been up to? What was the last holiday that you had with your family? The statue of Zeus at Olympia

Between 470 and 460 B.C., construction on a new temple was started. The designer was Libon of Elis and The Temple of Zeus was completed in 456 B.C. This temple followed a design used on many large Grecian temples. Though the temple was considered one of the best examples of the Doric design, it was decided that the temple alone was too simple to be worthy of the King of the gods. To remedy this, a statue was commissioned for the inerior – a magnificent statue of Zeus that would become one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The sculptor chosen for this great task was a man named Phidias. He began working on the statue around 440 B.C. When the stature was completed, it barely fitted in the temple. The first archaeological work on the Olympia site was done by group of French Scientists in 1829.They were able to locate the outlines of the temple and found the fragments of the sculpture

It must have been the loudest thunderstorm I have ever heard and the rain like someone was pouring water from a giant bucket. I barely made it to the shelter, that my dad built a few years ago. It was a safe place to hide while hurricanes and thunderstorms were bullying. The room was equipped with all the necessary things food, water, batteries, flashlights, warm clothes, etc. But to my surprise, I was the first one there. Where were mum and dad? It was Lord Melbourne, the Prime Minister, who saved the great hall by arranging for the fire engines to be brought right into the hall and personally supervising the fire fighting operation. Idealization of nature in Romantic poetry

And the sunlight clasps the earth, And the moonbeams kiss the sea;-- What are all these kissings worth, If thou kiss not me? The woman is forced to abandon her own principles because Nature feels something other it is as good as to say if nature does this, so must you. As much as I find the idealization of nature in romantic poetry a bit exaggerated, I have nevertheless enjoyed reading most of the poems. Romantic authors do not really try to make up new and magnificent qualities for nature, rather than show the simple ones that it already has from a new and better perspective that helps the reader re-evaluate their thoughts and see a new kind of beauty in something that they are already familiar with.

Zanrit hoidsid elus Sam Peckinpah´ nostalgilised, ent karmid pilguheidud Metsikule Läänele ning uuenduslikud vesternid, nagu Arthur Penni ,,Väike suur inimene" (Little Big Man, 1970). Siiski pidasid stuudiod vesternit hinge vaakuvaks zanriks, sellest tulenes ka Kevin Costneri pikk võitlus, et teha valmis film ,,Tantsib huntidega" (Dances with Wolves, 1990).

Sandrigham house

For the house and furnishings, the Prince paid £220,000. Sandringham's first role was as a home for newly-weds. Prince Albert Edward married Princess Alexandra of Denmark on 10 March 1863, and they travelled to Norfolk 18 days later. The young couple made many extensions and improvements to the house and estate, including the construction of new roads, the rebuilding of cottages and landscaping. A new garden wall was built to accommodate the magnificent gift of the famous Norwich Gates - spectacular ironwork gates designed by Thomas Jekyll and presented as a wedding gift by the people of Norwich and Norfolk. It became obvious that the existing house was not suitable for large social gatherings and a growing family, so the Prince of Wales rebuilt it completely. As home to the heir to the throne and his wife, Sandringham was venue to many glittering occasions. Social life ranged from visits by Heads of State (1881, 1899 and 1902 by Kaiser

second largest waterfall in the world) are one of the greatest attractions in the world. About twelve million tourists come to see the beauty of the falling waters every year. The Horseshoe Falls are much bigger and have more strength that the American Falls. People can enjoy the noise and the sight of the waters from the boats which take them right next to the falls. In the evenings, when the falls are illuminated by colorful spotlights, they are magnificent. There are five major biomes in Canada: Arctic Biomes, Tundras, Taigas, Prairies and Decidious Forests. The Arctic Biome is very cold and windy. There are long periods of darkness and the growing season is very short so there are almost no plants. Some of the typical animals are the Arctic fox, ermines, polar bears, Arctic terns, walruses and seals. The Tundra is located near the Arctic region. It's permafrost and desertlike. Some of the

13 Classical style dominating in the first half of the nineteenth century and so the restored St Olaf`s introduced the new, Historicist ecclesiastical architecture. The oblong basilica is a wonderful specimen of Gothic architecture in Tallinn. The fact that the central nave is almost twice as high as the side aisles reveals the basic characteristic feature of Gothic style aspiration upward. The altar part of the building with magnificent asteroid vaults dates from the 15th century. The Lady Chapel, built southwards from the chancel just before the Reformation in the early sixteenth century, is one of the most beautiful and noteworthy late-Gothic buildings in Estonia. It erected in 1502-1514 on donations of a rich merchants and art-lover Hans Pavels. It is the most interesting annexe of the church. On the eastern façade of the chapel is the cenotaph of a citizen merchant, composed like the sixteenth-century winged altarpieces

The Life of Dante, the Inferno of Dante

He writes in the first person so the reader can identify and deeply understand the truths he wished to share about the meaning of life and man's relationship with the Creator. Dante is remembered as a great thinker and one of the most learned writers of all time. Many scholars consider his epic poem The Divine Comedy consisting of Inferno, Paradiso, and Purgatorio, among the finest works of all literature. Critics have praised it not only as magnificent poetry, but also for its wisdom and scholarly learning. Dante was a man who lived, who saw political and artistic success, and who was in love. He was also a man who was defeated, who felt danger and the humiliation of exile, and who was no stranger to the cruelty and treachery possible in people. Dante felt he was a victim of a grave injustice. He also suffered serious self-doubts, natural for a man in exile. His works reflect his experiences and attempts to answer

17 KASUTATUD KIRJANDUS https://et.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josquin_des_Prez https://et.wikipedia

The United Kingdom

Britain is one of the world's leading tourist destinations. The industry is a big business and now about 2 million people are employed in this area. The majority of tourists come from Western Europe. It is good to travel all over Britain because there is a good railway and road network. It is also possible to travel by inland waterways. People come to Britain because the things that you can see there are very famous all over the world e.g. Stonehenge, Big Ben and of course the magnificent natural beauty. History. Britain was connected to the European mainland by a land bridge until the end of the last Ice Age. Afterwards the ice started to melt and oceans began to rise and the connection was covered with water. Britain became a separate island in about 6000 BC. From about 3000 to 2000 BC the British Isles were inhabited by a group of people called the Iberians. These Stone Age people lived in limestone caves, used stone axes and bones as tools.

Tallinn, which at one time or another has fallen under Danish, German, Swedish or Czarist Russian rule, has retained more remnants of its past and in a more complete state than most other cities in Europe. Tallinn's Old Town, belonging to UNESCO´s World Heritage List, is a magnificent blend of medieval streetscape and modern convenience, with cafes, restaurants, shops and street fairs all easily accessible inside the impressive city walls. You can see, feel and touch history everywhere in this overwhelmingly romantic city. This is also a city that has won worldwide acclaim for its forward-thinking, state-of-the- art services. A thriving nightlife has also sprung up in Tallinn, the centre of economic and cultural activity in the country; it's also a hub for major festivals

(Army Archerd) "Everything Marilyn does is different from any other woman, strange and exciting, from the way she talks to the way she uses that magnificent torso."[57] "She can make any move, any gesture, almost unsufferably suggestive."[58] "She wasn't disciplined, and she was often late but there was a sort of magic about her which we all recognized at once."[59] "Nobody discovered her, she earned her own way to stardom."[60] "If it hadn't been for her friends she might still be alive."[61] "I usually go to bed thinking about something I've learned in my day. nearly eight centuries. Chinese bridge builders experimented with forms and materials, perfecting their techniques. Selected examples, found in the countryside and parks, may be candidates for World Heritage listing. Other fine bridges survive in Iran, such as the Bridge of Khaju at Isfahan (1667), with eighteen pointed arches, carrying an 85ft (26m) wide roadway with walled, shaded passageways, flanked by pavilions and watch towers. This magnificent bridge, combining architecture and engineering in splendid functional harmony, also served as a dam, and included a hostelry where travellers found cool rooms for rest and refreshment after hot desert crossings (Figure 3). Picturesque bridges, such as the Kintaikyo at Iwakuni (1673), with its five wooden arches intricately wedged, slotted, and dovetailed together, are found in Japan. The superstructure of this bridge has

You go to your carriage and find out if you have a lower or upper berth in your compartment. Each compartment has its own window, a table, a place for your suitcases and, of course, four berths. 7)Travelling by sea is mostly for those who are going on holiday and want a pleasant voyage. On board a large cruise ship people traverse oceans and visit other countries. The ship stops for a day or two in different ports and people go ashore on excursions. Crossing the ocean is a magnificent and very long voyage, with enormous waves before you and a 4-deck liner under you. The only drawback is seasickness, so before starting on a voyage you should find out whether you suffer from it or not. 8)Many people prefer travelling by car. This way you can explore the nearby towns and cities. The greatest advantage is that you can stop whenever you like and that you are not bound by any schedule. You start from your own front door and take any road you like.

"No problem. I've been there." I'd just squatted to reach a nickel lying near the entrance when I ran into a pair of luxurious black oxfords draped in tailored black slacks. I waited a beat for the man to move out of my way and when he didn't, I arched my neck back to allow my line of sight to rise. The custom three -piece suit hit more than a few of my hot buttons, but it was the tall, powerfully lean body inside it that made it sensational. Still, as hot as all that magnificent maleness was, it wasn't until I reached the man's face that I went down for the count. Wow. Just...wow. He sank into an elegant crouch directly in front of me. Hit with all that exquisite masculinity at eye-level, I could only stare. Stunned. Then something shifted in the air between us. As he stared back, he altered...as if a shield slid away from his eyes, revealing a scorching force of will that sucked the air from my lungs

deep down it knows that no forms are permanent, that they are all fleeting. So there is always a sense of insecurity around the ego even if on the outside it appears confident. As I was walking with a friend through a beautiful nature reserve near Malibu in California, we came upon the ruins of what had been once a country house, destroyed by a fire several decades ago. As we approached the property, long overgrown with trees and all kinds of magnificent plants, there was a sign by the side of the trail put there by the park authorities. It read: DANGER. ALL STRUCTURES ARE UNSTABLE. I said to my friend, “That's a profound sutra [sacred scripture].” And we stood there in awe. Once you realize and accept that all structures (forms ) are unstable , even the seemingly solid material ones, peace arises within you. This is because the recognition of the impermanence of all forms awakens you to
