7 wonders of the world

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World by Hellenic culture. It is described as a remarkable feat of engineering with a lot of different species of trees, shrubs and vines, resembling large green mountain constructed of mud bricks. Today there is no archaeological evidence has been found at Babylon for the Hanging Gardens. It is possible that evidence exists beneath the Euphrates, which cannot be digged safely at present. Location The Hanging Gardens are the only one of the Seven Wonders for which the location has not been definitively located. There are no remained Babylonian texts which mention the gardens, and no conclusive archaeological evidence has been found in Babylon. Three theories have been suggested to account for this. 1. That they were purely mythical. 2

Referaat "Chelsea Flower Show"

Spring Show for that year. The RHS Great Spring Flower Show had normally been based at the Inner Temple in the hart of London, but in 1913 RHS had idea of moving the Show to Holland Park. They thought that the Show was becoming too big for the Inner Temple site. Anyway it stayed in first place. July 1912 the RHS President Sir Trevor Lawrence had met Major General Crutchley Of the Royal Hospital at Chelsea, and the two began to talk about a 14-day reservation of the gardens and a 14-year agreement. At the RHS Council meeting the following month, 13 August 1912, all had been decided. The show would move to Chelsea for 1913.The Council then turned to more pressing matters: primulas and experiments in electrical cultivation, for which the RHS would be "put to no expense whatsoever". 7 But it not seems so easy for everybody, Piggott Bros, the Society's tent contractors,

The Palace of Versailles / Versailles' loss

King Louis XIII in 1624. The small lodge was the beginning of an extremely huge palace that would cost the French government more then they could imagine. It is located in the city of Versailles, in northern France, 16 km southwest of Paris.  In order for Louis to have such a wonderful place he hired an architect named Louis Le Vau and a painter named Charles Le Brun. These two men made plans to build a palace that would, including gardens, cover a total of 37,000 acres. When this was completed, the king, decided it was not enough. Jules Hardouin-Mansart was hired to redesign parts of the palace. Louis Le Vau He designed and built the beautiful Hall of Mirrors. The Hall of Mirrors received its name because of the fact that there are three hundred and fifty-seven mirrors decorating the seventeen arches that are opposite of the windows.

The Estate is run commercially by the Land Agent, on The Queen's behalf. Over half of the Estate is let to farm tenants, the remainder being farmed in hand or used for forestry (the Estate has its own sawmill). There are also two studs, a fruit farm and a country park. These, together with the house's gardens, employ over 100 full-time staff. Sandringham Country Park, open free all year since 1968, is an area of 250 hectares (over 600 acres) of carefully managed woodland and heath. It has two nature trails and camping and caravan club sites. A Visitors' Centre with gift shop and restaurants is open daily in summer and at weekends in winter. Finding cheap housing for rent is a real problem for the poor and unemployed. Huge increase in house prices have placed additional pressure on the renting sector as young people simply cannot afford to buy. In any case, flats are generally not very popular with the British, especially compared to the rest of Europe, though they are acceptable to many people in the centre of big cities. People prefer housing in the suburbs, and a garden of any size is considered essential. There is a growing tendency to move away from the hustle and noise of big cities, and large areas in the countryside are now being swallowed up by ‘urban sprawl’. The saying ‘An Englishman’s home is his castle’ is well-known and it illustrates the desire for privacy. A large detached house not only ensures privacy, it is also a status symbol. When surrounded by garden, it gives the required feeling of rural life.

Some facts Legend has it that Shah Jahan had planned to construct another Taj Mahal in black marble on the other side of the river, but the war with his sons interrupted his plans; Some people think that Geronimo Veroneo, an Italian, designed the Taj Mahal; Some important studies feel that the Taj Mahal is sinking. The name Taj Mahal when translated means "Crown Palace" or "Crown of the Palace" The colours and atmosphere of the gardens and the Taj itself constantly change throughout the day. Under moonlight the marble glows; Some think that the changing colors of the tomb depict the different moods of a woman; Professor P.N. Oak claims that the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz Mahal's tomb, but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva.
