year 1710. Therefore the protection of the new border areas became the priority of the ruler and he paid a lot of attention to the reconstruction of ports in Tallinn and Paldiski and visited Tallinn several times. Together with the site of the would-be palace, a summer estate and a 17th-century cottage that had belonged to town councillor von Drenteln were purchased for the emperor's use in 1713. The small cottage was enlarged with a wing and the outcome was a building with a hall, a kitchen and four rooms. The small summer residence was in use until the emperor's death. The succeeding rulers used the Palace of Kadriorg that had been completed only after Peter's death and the small building was neglected. The building was restored at the order of Emperor Alexander I after he visited Tallinn in 1804. The wing, however, was not. The kitchen was reconstructed and a dining

The construction lasted from October 1862 to December 1870, the two towers on the west side were enlarged in 1882. The architect of the project was Otto Pius Hippius from St.Petersburg. Essay about England

Was the British Empire a good thing that enlarged the world creating possibilities for everyone or was it just a way for some to gain power and wealth? How is the modern-day Commonwealth different? The British Empire used to be one of the largest and wealthiest empires in the world. Its prosperity started at the early 1600s and reached its high peak at the end of the World War I. The Empire faded into the Commonwealth at the end of 1930s as one colony after another gained its independence. After studying the topic I would say that it cannot be said whether the British Empire was a very good or a very bad thing. Of course any kind of oppression should not be approved of and actually the Empire and native British forced on their way of life and culture to the colonies. On the other hand the Empire also helped its subjects to develop in a positive sense. In overall Britain ruled several parts of the world, like India, parts of Africa, ...

Tallinn town hall

town hall, constructed of local limestone, existed in its present location already in the mid-13th century. The town hall first mentioned in a real estate record in 1322 had a large meeting room (consistorium) and, considering the times, a huge warehouse (cellarium civitatis). Three walls and seven windows representing Tallinn's oldest secular architecture have come down to our days from that building. In the first quarter of the 14th century the existing building was extended and the basement enlarged. The so-called diele-dornse (front-back room) system was established. In 1346 the King of Denmark handed over his supremacy over Estonia to the Teutonic Order. As a member of the Hanseatic League, Tallinn gained control of trade with the East by the so-called goods yard right. Fast development of trade and economic prosperity led to the need for new utility rooms in the Town Hall and its more dignified appearance.

desired books. An e-book can be offered indefinitely, without ever going "out of print". The collection of e-books takes certainly significantly less room than the same collection of conventional books. An e-reader can potentially contain thousands of e-books, limited only by its memory capacity. Depending on the device e-book may be readable in low light or even in total darkness. For elderly readers or for people with visual problems e-books have a remarkable advantage as the fonts can be enlarged, it I seven possible to use Text-to speech software to read the text. One great thing is the possibility to search for key terms. While an e-book reader costs much more than one book, the electronic texts are generally cheaper. Moreover, a great share of books are available free of charge. For example, all fiction from before the year 1900 is in the public domain. Compared to printed publishing, it is cheaper and easier for authors to self-publish e-books. An

In the 13th century it was enlarged beyond those walls. Including the moat, it now covers 18 acres. The White Tower is the only remaining Norman building. Since successive monarchs have modified it and added to it, most of the architectural styles popular over the centuries can be found within The Tower's walls. The Tower has been used as fortress, a palace, and a prison. It has housed the Royal Mint, the Public Records, and the Royal Observatory. And from the 13th century until 1834 it housed the Royal Menagerie

invaded London. It started to expand again under the Saxon kings. London was described as a commercial centre into which goods from all parts of the world flew by land and sea. King Alfred the Great repopulated and fortified the city. Edward the Confessor started to build a new royal palace at Westminster and raised London to the level of capital. William the Conqueror started the construction of the Tower of London and his successor William II enlarged it and constructed Westminster Hall. The two centres which were to characterise the English capital for many years emerged: The City of L and Westminster. In 1193 Londoners elected Henry Fitzalwin their first Mayor and in 1209 a stone bridge was built to replace the earlier wooden one, which was the first real London Bridge. In 1349 the Black Death killed thousands of citizens. During the reign of Elizabeth I, the first map of L was published and the Globe Theatre built.

thought processes as they might appear in computer designs. What we are considering here, however, are the psychic and social consequences of the designs or patterns as they amplify or accelerate existing processes. For the "message" of any medium or technology is the change of scale or pace or pattern that it introduces into human affairs. The railway did not introduce movement or transportation or wheel or road into human society, but it accelerated and enlarged the scale of previous human functions, creating totally new kinds of cities and new kinds of work and leisure. This happened whether the railway functioned in a tropical or a northern environment, and is quite independent of the freight or content of the railway medium. The airplane, on the other hand, by accelerating the rate of transportation, tends to dissolve the railway form of city, politics, and association, quite independently of what the airplane is used for.

The Rise and Demise of the New Public Management, 28 10

Indeed, the international vocabulary of management reforms carries a definite normative `charge'. Within the relevant community of discourse ... the assumption has grown that particular things performance management, TQM ... and so on are progress. To be progressive one has to be seen to be doing things to which these particular labels can be stuck. ... Suggesting, for example, that an existing or new activity would be better placed within an enlarged central ministry or as a direct, state-provided service, becomes an uphill struggle it is `beyond the pale', not the done thing. (Pollitt and Bouckaert 2004: 201) In PA, the problem is that on the one hand, experts are hired both on the basis of fashionability and of their capacity to suggest change, not to say that things should remain as they are the main reason why international consultancy has gone strongly for NPM

Because it affects health, the trait should not be deliberately propagated as a colour curiosity. For those with a scientific background, here are several references and abstracts about the condition. Collier LL, King EJ, Prieur DJ. Aberrant melanosome development in the retinal pigmented epithelium of cats with Chediak-Higashi syndrome. Exp Eye Res. 1985 Sep;41(3):305-11. "Chediak-Higashi syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by greatly enlarged cytoplasmic granules, including lysosomes and melanosomes. Eyes of humans and animals with Chediak-Higashi syndrome are hypopigmented to various degrees. Intraocular melanin granules vary in size, with some being massively enlarged. Electron microscopic examination of retinal pigmented epithelium of kittens with Chediak-Higashi syndrome disclosed a number of abnormalities of premelanosomes and melanosomes. Few premelanosomes were present

ravimiseks ravimtaimede segusid ja nõiakunsti. Keskaja jooksul anti iidseid taimeravi vahendeid edasi põlvest põlve, kuid puudus ühtne ravisüsteem. Viieteistkümnendal sajandil muutis trükikunsti areng inimestele informatsiooni kättesaadavamaks. Tudorite perekonnaarst John Gerard avaldas 1597.a. The Herball or General History of Plantes, ühe esimesi inglisekeelseid raamatuid. (Mindell 1992:29) Sellele järgnes kiiresti Nicholas Culpeperi The English Physician Enlarged, huvitav segu folkloorist, astroloogiast ja taimsest meditsiinist.

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

Having lost all he owned he was lucky to return to Estonia in 1920. His own hardships are reflected in the final chorus, based on the leitmotif, (a triple fugue): “Blessed is the man who is afraid of God.” The first performance took place in Tallinn, on March 1st, 1931, in the Estonia Concert Hall. Besides the best Estonian soloists, the mixed choir of the Estonia Music Department, the Male Song Society Choir, and an enlarged Estonia Theatre orchestra conducted by Juhan Aavik took part. The very successful first performance was followed by a performance in Helsinki on June 17th, 1931. A performance on August 10th, 1997, in Tallinn conducted by Neeme Järvi, was extremely well received. Apart from being a composer Artur Kapp acted for some years as the opera conductor of the Estonia Theatre, also conducting some symphony concerts. From 1920

publication on cryptology issued by the United States government. In World War I, he put together several cryptographic elements to create the only theoretically unbreakable cipher, and promoted the first automatic cipher machine, with which the unbreakable cipher was associated. When he became head of the Signal Corps, he immediately set about augmenting the important cryptanalytic activities. He established the S.I.S. as an independent division reporting directly to him, enlarged its functions, set up branches, started correspondence courses, added intercept facilities, increased its budget, and put on more men. In 1939, when war broke out in Europe, S.I.S. was the first agency in the War Department to receive more funds, personnel, and space. Perhaps most important of all, Mauborgne's intense interest inspired his men to outstanding accomplishments. More and more codes were broken, and as the international situation stimulated an increasing flow of intercepts,

Add Inputs, Outputs, and wires as appropriate, then test your circuit to make sure that it works. If you like, you can give it a name and turn it into an icon. Next, open the "4-Bit Adder" sample circuit. You'll see that it contains several copies of a subcircuit called "Adder." It's possible to look inside one of these circuits: Just click on the adder circuit to hilite it, and then click the "Enlarge" button. This does not remove the main circuit from the board -- it just lets you see an enlarged part of it. When you shrink the subcircuit back down to its original size, the main circuit is still there. In this case, you'll see that an "Adder" circuit contains two "Half Adder" subcircuits, which you can enlarge in their turn, if you want. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Circuits and Arithmetic The "4-Bit Adder" circuit is an example of a logic circuit that can work with binary numbers.

point of your attention; otherwise, you will fall out of alignment with universal purpose. Make sure your vision or goal is not an inflated image of yourself and therefore a concealed form of ego, such as wanting to become a movie star, a famous writer, or a wealthy entrepreneur. Also make sure your goal is not focused on having this or that, such as a mansion by the sea, your own company, or ten million dollars in the bank. An enlarged image of yourself or a vision of yourself having this or that are all static goals and therefore don't empower you. Instead, make sure your goals are dynamic, that is to say, point toward an activity that you are engaged in and through which you are connected to other human beings as well as to the whole. Instead of seeing yourself as a famous actor and writer and so on, see yourself inspiring countless people with your work and enriching their lives.

The 4-Hour Body - An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman - Timothy Ferriss

Wow! This is the first time I've been less than 215 since my freshman year of college! I hit a bit of a plateau after getting down to 220 on Christmas. I was eating the same, drinking the same, etc and stayed at 220! So how did I get over this plateau?? By eating more! Can you believe the awesomeness of this lifestyle? Tim had posted ... to eat at least 30g of protein upon waking, and to up the water even more so. Reluctantly I enlarged my breakfast and lunch portions and BAM! Skip breakfast, forget to eat within one hour of waking, and you will fail. MISTAKE #2: NOT EATING ENOUGH PROTEIN Get at least 20 grams of protein per meal. This is absolutely most critical at breakfast. Eating at least 40% of your breakfast calories as protein will decrease carb impulses and promote a negative fat balance. Even 20% protein-- more than most people consume--doesn't cut it. First choice: down two to three whole eggs at breakfast
