In this light, as there is considerable reason to believe that Russia's political system is moving towards a, what is called "dominant party system", in this paper, I will examine the main strategies, by witch United Russia has gained and perpetuated its dominance. After looking at the main features of a dominant party, I will focus on the reforms in Russia's electoral law, which supported the nascence of a dominant party. Swedes. 8 Nearly 80% of all households buy a copy of one of the main newspapers every day. There are more than eighty local and regional papers. The only non-national papers with significant circulation are published in the evenings, when they do not compete with national papers, which appear in the mornings. Most local papers do not appear on Sundays, so that day dominance of national press is absolute. The Sunday Papers are so called because its the only day on which they appear. Until the laws were relaxed in the early 90s, newsagents were the only shops allowed to open on Sundays. National papers can be characterized as belonging to one of two distinct categories. The "quality papers", or "broadsheets", cater for the better educated readers. The popular papers or the "tabloids" sell to a much larger readership. They use larger headlines and write in a
Frankenstein, who refuses to take responsibility for his creation; Herman Melville's Captain Ahab, who says "All my means are sane, my motive and object mad." In these characters we encounter the essence of the modern drive to dominate nature. Historically, Francis Bacon's proposed union between knowledge and power foreshadows the contemporary alliance between government, business, and knowledge that has wrought so much mischief. Galileo's separation of the intellect foreshadows the dominance of the analytical mind over that part given to creativity, humor, and wholeness. And in Descartes' epistemology, one finds the roots of the radical separation of self and object. Together these three laid the foundations for modern education, foundations now enshrined in myths we have come to accept without question. Let me suggest six. First, there is the myth that ignorance is a solvable problem. Ignorance is not a solvable problem, but rather an inescapable part of the human condition

Modern, complex industry had more need for a healthy and educated workforce than older industries had. A centralised welfare state was an attractive way to ensure the dominance of the self-confident bureaucratic class. The Welfare State was a commitment to health, education, employment and social security. It was believed that the overall cost of medical care would decrease, as people became more healthy. Instead the cost increased dramatically, leading to severe financial problems. GENDER PROBLEMS T h e Hero's Journey is sometimes critiqued as a masculine theory, cooked up by men to enforce their dominance, and with little relevance to the unique and quite different journey of womanhood. There may be some masculine bias built into the description of the hero cycle since many of its theoreticians have been male, and I freely admit it: I'm a man and can't help seeing the world through the filter of my gender. Yet I have tried to acknowledge and explore the ways in which the woman's journey is different from the man's.
