The USA
In my essay I am going to talk about the United States of America. The USA was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492. It is situated between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. It is the world's fourth largest country by size (after Russia , Canada and China ) and the third by population (after China and India). The third largest citys in the US is: New York (NY) with a population of 8,175,133 and nicknames like The Big Apple , The City That Never Sleeps. It is composed of five  boroughs: Manhattan-the home to Central Park and most of the city's skyscrapers, The Bronx , Brooklyn - with a distinct downtown neighborhood, Queens - the only large county in the United States where the median income among African Americans is higher than that of White Americans and Staten Island - The Staten Island Ferry where you can see The Statue of Liberty ( a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frédéric Bart-holdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886 . The statue, a gift of friendship to the United States from the people of France, is a robed female figure representing Libertas, it has become an icon of freedom and universal symbol of democracy of the United States), Los Angeles (Calif) - because of its nice climate the centre of the film - and TV-industry, Chicago (Ill) - a big traffic - and industry centre in the USA. One reason is the big harbour and the other is that the city is served by two major airports, and is the main freight rail hub of North America. The largest state is Alaska and the smallest Rhode Island.
The most famous presidents in the USA: the first was Washington (1789-97) - the capital city Washington is named after him, the sixteenth was Lincoln (1861-65) - he was shot while attending the theatre with his wife , the thirty second was F. D. Roosevelt (1933-45) - led the United States during both the Great Depression and World War II, the thirty fifth was Kennedy (1961-63) - did not do what was in his best interest politically, but what was in the best interest of the country, that's what makes a great president .
The longest river in the United States is the Missouri River. It starts in Montana and covers 2,540 miles before flowing into the Mississippi River, the second longest river in the United States. The Missouri-Mississippi river system is the third longest river in the world. The largest lake in the US is Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes, located on the border with Canada. Mount McKinley or Denali in Alaska, is the highest  mountain  peak in North America and the USA, with a summit  elevation of 6,194 m above sea level as the same Death Valley in California with 86 m below sea level is the lowest point on the continent .
Yellowstone National Park is one of the most visited natural attractions in the United States. Founded way back in 1872, Yellowstone is the oldest national park in the world and covers territory in three states, namely Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The park is not only famous for its geysers and other volcanic attractions but also for its richness of wildlife including bears and herds of buffalos.
Once inhabited the present United States from Coast to Coast original Native ( Indian ) Americans. Indians, the name commonly applied to the people found by Columbus in America. They introduced colonists to clothing such as moccasins and ponchos, as well as to cotton , which is used to make many clothes today . Much of early Indians’ clothing was made from deer skins. Many common English words have American Indian origins. These include: bayou, chipmunk, hickory, hominy, pecan, squash, toboggan, and tomahawk.

The USA

The United States of America (The U.S.A) Geography The main part of the United states extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west. It covers the middle of the North American continent. This area is called ,,the continental United states". The continental United States is bounded to the North by Canada and to the South by Mexico. The border with Canada is often called ,,the longest unguarded border in the world". The United States and Canada are good friends and they have very few problems in managing the border. The borded with Mexico is different. Immigrants are constantly crossing the border illegally. Every day about 2,000 of them are captured and sent back, but may others get through. There are also two states that are not connected to the continental United States. They are Alaska and Hawaii.
