Summary Britta Kase

Britta Kase 143123HAKB Summary The booklet offers a brief, simple explanation how the European Union is relevant to us in our everyday life, how it affects our lives in many areas and how can we benefit from it. The booklet gives also a very readable overview of EU’s history and how its member states have come together. It’s a great starting point to know the roots, history and functioning of the European Union. I found this booklet interesting because it provides an insight into relevance of the EU. I have never thought that making phone calls and flying has become cheaper as a result of EU. EU has abolished national monopolies and has permitted competition. For me the most important thing is air, water and food quality. The EU has introduced c...

Fast food- Advantages and disadvantages

rtf

Fast food . Advantages and disadvantages.

Fast food . Advantages and disadvantages. I will write about fast food- advantages and disadvantages. Advantages of fast food is that it's made easily and fast. You just go maybe to McDonald's and you buy your meal about 5-8 minutes and your meal is done. You have full stomach and you are happy about 2-4 hours and then you're hungry again. More advantages are that it's so easily available and cheap, you can get it in drive-in and you can order it home. It's good business to let people it that stuff. Disadvantages because people are addicted to it and it has affected their life harshly. And the workers there aren't so polite. There was article that they have been given wrong change back or spit in peoples food. Or they make fries with oil that has been there about 4-8 weeks. And what they offer to people isn't healthy at all. The use only the cheapest ingredients. People think that they it fast food then they don't have to cook at home...

Advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside

Advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside The first outstanding characteristic about the countryside is that it is beautiful and peaceful. The air is fresh and the surroundings green. This is because the countryside is free from pollution, land or noise pollution. Living in the countryside has a lot of advantages, but also many disadvantages. The places where people live affects greatly in their lifestyles and living places is one of the very basic needs for people. Firstly you are fit and you don't need to worry about your health condition, because in the countryside the air and water are so clean. My analysis of the article “ Why Ebola is so dangerous”

My analysis of the article " Why Ebola is so dangerous" I chose this article because this theme is very current in our society, and many people are dying due to the disease called Ebola. The theme is very intriguing and I hope it interests people, because it definitely interests me. I think that this article makes people more aware of the disease and hopefully helps to put a stop to Ebola. Ebola virus disease, or simply Ebola, is a disease of humans and other primates caused by ebolaviruses. Signs and symptoms typically start between two days and three weeks after contracting the virus, as a fever, sore throat, muscle pain and headaches. Then, vomiting, diarrhea and rash usually follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys. At this time, generally, some people begin to bleed both internally and externally. Death, if it occurs, follows typically six to sixteen days after symptoms appear and is often due to low blood ...

My ideal house My ideal house would be located in the woods, more precisely in the hills of Austria. It would almost be like a ski lodge, but it would be all mine. I want to live in the alps, because I’d like to wake up to a lovely view of the alps. The house would almost entirely be made out of wood. I would have a big back yard where I would have a football pitch, a miniature one, not a big one. Around the house I would grow all kinds of flowers and have a small garden. I would have a small garage, because I like cars and I like to take care of them. The house has 2 floors (basement, 1st and 2nd floor). The livingroom would have a cozy fireplace, a big TV and a couple of couches. The interior of the house would be finished in wood aswell. My bedroom would face the mountains and the setting sun. The house has a big balcony and there’s also a grill and a fireplace, where I can hang out with my friends. I wo...

"Legal english vs everyday english" speech

Introduction: Hi, I'm here to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of using legal English. How many of you have had to use/have had any interaction with legal English? Well, I, myself, apart from learning it in this class, have never, but many others have. Legal English dates back to thousands of years and it is an essential part of law. Lately, in some cases, legalese has been smoothly replaced with plain language and for some it is unacceptable. So, why use legal English when there is already plain language that can be used instead? Body 1: Firstly, we all like to follow traditions, right? So do most lawyers. You know Latin was and is important for English law, the practice of using Latin word versus in case names (for "against") still occurs daily. Why change something that has been used and appreciated for thousands of years? Law is known for it's conservatism and legalese might have maintained so well because many lawyers h...

While it’s all party and stuff, people will tend to ask you one question all the time, as you start to finish your last year. I don’t know how many of you have suffered that pain already, but I have. People, friends and family more frequently, will ask you the following: ‘Hey. Soo… Who do you want to become in the future?’ First thing most of you will say is that: ‘Um, I’m not entirely sure, I’m yet to decide.’ The one who asks is confused: ‘It’s your last year of high school, you’re probably going to university next year or whatever, and you don’t know who you want to become?!?’ In our busy society where we live in, everything tends to move really fast. Benefits and drawbacks about Estonia

Estonia is divided into 15 counties which are divided in turn into 207 rural municipalities and 47 towns. The Republic of Estonia, the northernmost and smallest of the three Baltic countries, is located on the eastern shores of the Baltic Sea in the north-east of Europe. Lying between East and West, it has served as junction of international trade routes for centuries. Moreover, Estonian neighbours are Russia and Latvia. Estonia is accessible, both from a logistical and social point of view - Tallinn is within 3 hours flight from major European capitals and the power distance is very low. In the west, the coast of Estonia is washed by the Baltic Sea. It is a land of great natural beauty with a long and varied history and rich culture. That's their nature especially concerning national symbols such as their music or their language. Even if Estonia is tiny, it still offers a breathtaking amount of nature. There is some medical evidence to support the existence of actual addiction to chocolate. However, the term is mostly used loosely or humorously to describe a person who is inordinately fond of chocolate. The chocolate addiction happens mostly with women because they eat more emotionally than men. Why do people get addicted to it The essential components of addiction are intense craving for something, loss of control over the use of it, and continued use despite negative consequences. Studies have shown that people can exhibit all three of these components in relation to food, particularly food that contains sugar or fat. Since chocolate contains both, it is often used in studies of food addiction. Why it's bad Eating too much chocolat...

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against This is a very difficult question if the electronic devices are good or bad things in the classroom. When I made a list of the pluses and minuses I found that the electronic devices are a very bad idea. The advantages are that children can easily find information and lessons are more interesting. Teachers can show different pictures, movies and other such things. If students do not know the answer they can easily search for it from the internet. Most of the programs are in English and I think thanks to that students vocabulary expands considerably. The disadvantages are that electronic devices ruin children eyes and they are 24/7 behind the computer or social media. The electronic devices take a lot of money because the school and children need to buy them. The teachers have to be always ready to do something else because the network can always go down or the electro...

Medieval Tallinn enjoyed a strategic position at the crossroads of trade between Western and Northern Europe and Russia. On 24 February 1918, the Independence Manifesto was proclaimed in Tallinn, followed by Imperial German occupation and a war of independence with Russia. On 2 February 1920, the Tartu Peace Treaty was signed with Soviet Russia, wherein Russia acknowledged the independence of the Estonian Republic. Tallinn became the capital of an independent Estonia. Kairi Laur IK12 AÜ ,,Hope I Die Before I Get Old: Mispredicting Happiness Across the Adult Lifespan" Heather P. Lacey, Dylan M. Smith ja Peter A. Ubel. 2006. ,,Journal of Happiness Studies" Käesolev artikkel käsitleb teemat, kuidas inimestel on kalduvus ülehinnata asjaolude mõju enda heaolule, mida tõestavad laialdaselt erinevad elusündmused, kuid tajutav vananemise mõju heaolule on suuresti jäänud tähelepanuta.

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government?

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government? Intolerance in society is actually the intolerance of it’s individual members. Intolerance is rooted in fear and ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown, it is natural. But it can only grow, if it gets encouragement, either from parents, who are also ingorant or school, who just do not teach children any better. And fighting intolerance requires Law. Intolerance can be fought with education. Tolerance can be teached at an early age only, later it is difficult change a person’s values. And if intolerance starts with the fear of the unknow, education can help. Government should emphasise education more and more. Dear Chicken, Thank you for your letter! I’m sorry that you feel that way. Just got your letter today, so I apologise for any delay. I want to tell you that I’m here for you, and I will help you through this. While reading your letter, I came up with a few ideas that might help you. Games help people relax and they can teach us a lot about history or geography as well. Opponents say that people are wasting time on games and sports. Firstly, they argue that sports can be injurious. For example, you broke your leg while playing football. They also say that computer games are addictive and make people aggressive. However, in my opinion...
