How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government ?
Intolerance in society is actually the intolerance of it’s individual members . Intolerance is rooted in fear and ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown, it is natural. But it can only grow , if it gets encouragement, either from parents , who are also ingorant or school, who just do not teach children any better. And fighting intolerance requires Law.
Intolerance can be fought with education. Tolerance can be teached at an early age only, later it is difficult change a person ’s values . And if intolerance starts with the fear of the unknow, education can help. Government should emphasise education more and more. Children should learn about tolerance and human rights and about other ways of life. School should teach children to always be open - minded .
Teaching about tolerance and human rights and that the world is bigger than it seems, has to be taught at an early age so that a curious child would grow up to be a open-minded adult, not afraid of something just because they do not know enough about it.
Government is also responsible for enforcing laws , and protecting people. Government should find a solution for every small problem. Small problems get quickly big, fear and intolerance in people spreads if nothing is done about it. So yes, small problems matter and need to be taken care of.
In conclusion , one thing is to prevent problems from growing bigger and finnaly global, enforcing the human rights laws. The seconf really important aspect here is teaching children about tolerance and give them knowledge about world at an early age. It is a long and difficult process , which should be addressed by the government with a greater importance.

The highest result of education is tolerance

The highest result of education is tolerance Ladies and gentleman! Today I will discuss a topic what is opened by a quote by beautiful Helen Keller: The highest result of education is tolerance. Today is the day you will understand that her quote is accurate. So I should probably start with a question. Why should we be tolerant to weird kids at school? Does anybody in this room know why?........Okay, let's just drop that question for now, we'll come back to it later. If I would ask you Where do we get our education from you all would probably say: From schools duuuh! But what is a school? Tallinn English College? Yeah, it is a school with all

prevalent in the Western society. The purpose of this dissertation is to critically explore this hotly debated tension between these two conflicting salient features that have often prevented the recognition of children as active citizens, entitled to respect and participation. With a particular interest in Wales, the following research project analyses the development of children`s active participation both in the Welsh Government and the County and Council of Swansea as they both have regarded the UNCRC on the basis of all its activity. Finally, the Cadle Primary School in Swansea has been used as a case study to investigate the potential change in attitudes in children after the school placed the UNCRC at the heart of its ethos and curriculum across all areas of the school. The primary goal is to critically analyse the commitment of the Cadle towards children`s participation within school and explore the

Tolerance and Diversity essay

Tolerance and Diversity Janne Susi In today's world, the coexistence of different cultures is one of the most vital developments. Furthermore, the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence of different nations have often been underlined by the representatives of the European Union. The same ideas have lately been spreading in the Baltic countries. So, what are the main dangers to the tolerance and friendly coexistence in these countries? There are several phenomena which counteract the successful coexistence and integration of people from different cultural backgrounds. First and foremost, both coexistence and integration require a high level of tolerance from all those involved. Here, the major obstacle is often xenophobia which may be caused by a wide range of factors. As a rule, xenophobia occurs in big, mostly mono-cultural societies, where strangers are

cannot limit their scope to mere teaching of abstractions, such as algebra and grammar. They also need to instruct about health, including diet and exercise. Yet sports programs take too much money and time, which otherwise could be used in artistic endeavors, or to buy more computers and books or special tutors. I especially loathe collegiate athletics, which become farm teams for professional clubs. These have no valid role at institutions of higher learning. The whole issue of scholastic competition needs careful review. Presently, space is so limited at many universities, and demand so high, that only students with the highest grades are accepted. Let us expand our ability to enroll students, and aim to admit all qualified applicants. This exclusion of non-A students bothers me more than high tuition rates do. Students in college can work summer jobs, such as fishing off Alaska, to earn their tuition; it is

If you have created something, then try to be open minded

Teacher: O'Mahony V.PG 11A 09.03.2009 This written essay here is talking about my thoughts and facts of life, what is around us. First I thought that why is always easier to create something but to destroy is much harder. Exactly there have been so many wars in history. Everybody wanted to own a lot of countries and others had to fight for their created country. Also they started to teach young people to kill and protect their country with killing enemies. Also government tried to keep a low profile, if there were some wars in state. These are my thoughts of creating and keeping something. In the old times were many wars. Some states predominated over other weaker countries or states. Weaker countries had created their own and loved country and they wanted to live like that for a long time. But also stronger countries wanted to broaden their boards and become bigger than other strong states. I think that little countries scared. I

Ameerika kirjandus alates I maailmasõjast kuni tänapäevani.

The tragedy of the town started when the indians who naively imagined that the land was theres, allowed the white man to use this land. The white man divided the land into squares and plots which are sold and bough for the slaves in africa. The indians were driven away from the land. The indians refused to be slaves, black men from africa were imported for slavery. Faulkner understands that they are treated brutally, he is not a radical, he warns the government against the interference, he thinks that southerners must work out their own solution, the negro problem. After the war the slavery was eliminated, but they would still think of them as lower people. The best chance of finding a solution was a return to nature. They thought that nature might help regain human values. Faulkner reflected the southern myth, he presents it through the minds and thoughts of his characters who are descendants of old pre-war planters. These descendances are mostly

maximal satisfaction to the individual. Eudemonism replaces the word satisfaction by happiness. The difference between the two words is that satisfaction usually is short- term and focuses more on the senses. Happiness is something long-term and is more 'part' of a person than an experience its senses undergo. Utilitarianism believes a certain action should result in maximum happiness for the biggest group of people. The government should always think of the interests of the population. Eudemonism and hedonism are however more focused on the individual. Here, classical utilitarianism 1 justifications will be discussed (Ibid.). Classic utilitarianism departs from the idea that there are two intrinsic values, pain and happiness. Jeremy Bentham believed that happiness includes wellbeing and absence of pain. It was him who defined that utility holds that the good is what produces most
