Leap of faith
All of you, hopefully , will graduate from high school this year . It’s great. You don’t need to wake up at 6 or 7 AM. No more homeworks, teachers giving you bad grades, or days lasting up to 4 or 5 pm. Great. While it’s all party and stuff , people will tend to ask you one question all the time, as you start to finish your last year. I don’t know how many of you have suffered that pain already , but I have. People, friends and family more frequently, will ask you the following : ‘Hey. Soo… Who do you want to become in the future?’ First thing most of you will say is that: ‘Um, I’m not entirely sure , I’m yet to decide.’ The one who asks is confused: ‘It’s your last year of high school, you’re probably going to university next year or whatever, and you don’t know who you want to become?!?’
In our busy society where we live in, everything tends to move really fast . All the people around you seem to have a goal in their life, almost if they knew what they were destined to since they were born. As if you were the only one, who has no idea what’s going on in your future. But, if look closely, you will find out. that nobody is 100% sure of their chosen career paths. Nobody was born knowing their career or their life purpose . Sometimes, or may I say, almost in all occasions, you must have faith in something . It’s like believing in something, when others will say it’s impossible or pointless.
Nowadays , we get a lot of advice from our parents , teachers and from everyone. But what is most important is that you have to dig deep down and ask yourself, who do you want to become. Not which career path will guarantee you money and success , not career path that your parents want, not the career path that most of the young people follow . No! Figure out what makes you happy no matter how crazy it sounds. The easiest way to figure out, what you like is ask yourself one simple question: ‘Would you be willing to work for free in that position ?’
So, to sum it up in two words : ‘ Trust yourself.’  If you don’t trust yourself, nobody will. One of my favourite quotes is: ‘He who doesn’t risk, never gets to drink champagne.’ You’re young, you’re allowed to make mistakes. It’s not like you’re investing all your life savings in the stock market .
Go for what you feel is right.

Traditionally, the man was the one to propose to his beloved, rather than the other way around. Nowadays this part of the tradition is not always followed, although most couples still observe it. · English tradition has it that the man is to propose to his beloved with a ring, which she is to wear on the ring finger of her left hand. Tradition also used to say that a woman can propose to her man on February 29th – on a leap year. · Once the couple had set a wedding date, it was customary to set the so-called banns of the marriage. The banns were basically a marriage notice. · Prior to the wedding date; the bride celebrates with her female friends in what is called a hen party, whereas the groom celebrates the engagement with his male friends in a stag do. · It is said that the groom should not see his bride on the day before the ceremony, because that will bring bad luck to the newlyweds.

from the realm of spirit. Using the word “enlightenment” in a wider sense than the conventionally accepted one, we could look upon flowers as the enlightenment of plants. Any life-form in any realm – mineral, vegetable, animal, or human – can be said to undergo “enlightenment.” It is, however, an extremely rare occurrence since it is more than an evolutionary progression: It also implies a discontinuity in its development, a leap to an entirely different level of Being and, most important, a lessening of materiality. What could be heavier and more impenetrable than a rock, the densest of all forms? And yet some rocks undergo a change in their molecular structure, turn into crystals, and so become transparent to the light. Some carbons, under inconceivable heat and pressure, turn into diamonds, and some heavy minerals into other precious stones.

THE CAPITALIST NIGER

THE CAPITALIST NIGER Chika Onyeani ………………………Every African must internalise this book - period….DAA INTRODUCTION In October 1960, Nigeria received its independence from Britain. By then, Ghana the former Gold Coast had been independent for three years under the great Osagyefo Kwame Nkumah. It was a time for celebrating Africa’s coming of age, as more and more African countries received their independence either from Britain or France. It was especially a poignant time for Africa, as then British Prime Minister Harold McMillan articulated his now famous “winds of change” sweeping Africa. We had high hopes for Africa, for the Black race, that the insidious imposition of foreign rule on us, the looting of Africa’s natural resources by our colonial masters accorded us would be things of history. That is more than forty years ago. Unfortunately, the promise of independence has not been fulfilled. Today, Africa has become more desolate; there is more starvation
