Natural Disasters: Does Mankind Even Stand a Chance? Throughout time, man has fought valiantly against the forces of nature. We have successfully climbed the tallest mountains, sailed the greatest seas, and defeated the mighty dinosaurs. But we are no match for nature's greatest weapon: Natural Disasters. As far as natural disasters go, the deadly trinity of mudslides, whirlpools, and meteors is man's greatest nemesis. Mudslides strike without warning and with deadly force. Every day, across the world, unsuspecting villagers are hammered by the force of 36,000 tons of that soft wet dirt known as mud, as it cascades down mountains, rolls across plains, swoops through valleys, and takes flight over cliffs. Once the mud strikes, it leaves the villages and cities in ruins, as houses and other structures are quickly destroyed
Global warming and natural disasters The aim of this report is to talk about global warming and natural disasters. The disasters are getting more serious and they are mostly caused by global warming which people can affect. What should be done to make the situation better? Nowadays people have put material things above the beauty and survival of the Earth. Money and power are more important than, for example, the wonder of cool, fresh and clean spring water. The water has been polluted and the trees cut down, also the air is polluted with gasses. All of these things are dangerous for animals as they live in the forests

Pros and Cons of Technology Today we are so used to live surrounded by technology. We could not imagine our lives without it. But what are the pros and cons of technology? Time is money. Of course those wonderful inventions can save our time and nowadays when the pace of life is very fast, it is so important. In my opinion the communications technology is the most valuable, because it makes possible to resque people who need help. A development of transport is also important in this field. But the fact is that people are getting lazy. Machines do all the work for the people. We just sit and watch machines doing our duties, unfortunately it is so harmful for our health. Computers, the internet and social networks they all put up a wall between real-life communicating. People can not speak and write correctly, because they are usind slang every day on the internet. It is quite impossible to avoid technology, we are forced to use it, fo...
get new job. Secondly, country gets huge income from successful company. Next, if factories uses recyclable material, it would save earths resources and also slow down global warming. On the other hand, there are some throwbacks as well. Firstly, companies which do not have experience with factories might produce an enormous amount of air pollution. Secondly, sophisticated combinations need highly educated experts, otherwise failure might cause chemical fires, which may lead to catastrophic disasters. What is more, new factories tend to start with cheap products which are produced with toxic chemicals and usually end up polluting our groundwater. In conclusion, there are clearly both marvelous and terrible sides to building new factories. Personally, I believe that building new factories is marvelous because it has positive affect on economy and also gives1 job for unemployed people, however building new factories has negative

There are many great places wich you can visit in nature. In nature you can do a lot of things. It also attrackts many tourists. Estonia is also naturally quiet place, in here we don´t have volcanoes, earthquakes, tornadoes or other dangerous natural phenomenas. So we don´t have to worry about that in one beautiful day our house fly away by tornado or volcano burns it down. People don´t have to live in fear and in here they dont mus´t worry about natural disasters. Other good thing is that we don´t have dangerous or poisonous wild animals in nature. So we don´t need worry about that a monkey jumps trough our window and arranges a big mess or wild animal attacks people. People can go in nature with no feare to get attacked by wild animal. That why i like to live in Estonia, But people should care more about this. Often people don´t know what they have, they always complain obout the things what they dont have.
Essay. Is global climate change (global warming) man-made or not? Over the last hundred years the Earth has been warming. This warming is believed to lead to many issues such as increasing of nature disasters, weather changes and draught. All of these consequences could become a reason of economic decay in many countries, especially in some undeveloped countries. Therefore it is very important to find out who is guilty of the climate changing. Many people are confident that the reason of global warming is man made carbon dioxide. Over the last hundred years our society has been developing very fast: there has been built a huge amount of different factories, has been made so

Who Cares? · Why is Biodiversity important? Does it really matter if there aren't so many species? · Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. · For example, a larger number of plant species means a greater variety of crops; greater species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms; and healthy ecosystems can better withstand and recover from a variety of disasters. · And so, while we dominate this planet, we still need to preserve the diversity in wildlife. Loss of Biodiversity and Extinctions · It is feared that human activity is causing massive extinctions. From various animal species, forests and the ecosystems that forests support, marine life. · The costs associated with deteriorating or vanishing ecosystems will be high. · However, sustainable development and consumption would help avert ecological problems.
20th century. The population in the Tanzanian Selous Game Reserve, once the largest of any reserve in the world, dropped from 109 000 in 1976 to 13 000 in 2013. 85 000 elephants were lost to poaching in Tanzania between 2009 and 2014. Even though zoos compared to reserves are really small, they are still important in preserving animal species. Also, some of the animals lose their natural habitat completely due to the natural disasters or something even worse like pollution caused by who?-human being. It is really hard to accept the fact that we are trying to protect something from ourselves. Giant panda in south central China does not have a "home" anymore. London grew in importance under Tudor rule. King Henry VIII created palaces such as St James's. He is also famous for closing the country's monasteries in 1536, after the Catholic Church refused to grant him a divorce. During the reign of Elizabeth I, London was a wealthy and successful city. Theatre became popular, helped by the arrival of playwright William Shakespeare some time between 1584 and 1593. Plague and fire London suffered two disasters in later Stuart years. In 1665 the Great Plague killed about 70,000 people. In the 1666 the Great Fire destroyed almost all of the City and a large area to the west. Thousands of new houses were built, and Christopher Wren constructed St Paul's Cathedral as well as many churches. Stuart London The first Stuart king, James I, came to the throne in 1603. In 1605 a group of men tried to blow up both him and the Houses of Parliament. This Gunpowder Plot failed

Therefore, economic decisions are guided solely by the aggregate interactions of a country's citizens and businesses. In addition to mentioned afore, Estonia tends to perform favourably in measurements of civil liberties, education, and press freedom. Living in Estonia has many of its good sides, for instance it is a secure place from nature disasters and it has a beautiful nature. Although, when not to look only through rose-tinted glasses, there are still some minuses in country’s organization. So, what are the beneficial and negative sides of living in Estonia? To start with, a big advantage is a great location between Scandinavia and prosperous Russia which ensures the connections, networks and possible trading options. Close connections and pendulum migration have tightened the cooperation between the countries. For instance,
her country. The primary role of Elizabeth throughout this period was that of a symbol of unity and continuity within the Commonwealth of Nations, the member countries of which she frequently visited along with her husband. In 1992 a series of disasters struck the royal family, with a damaging fire in the state apartments at Windsor Castle, and the announcement of the formal separation of Prince Charles from his wife Diana, Princess of Wales, and of Prince Andrew from his wife, Sarah. In the same year, Elizabeth made private enquiries about the possibility of paying a voluntary tax on her personal income, and in February 1993 the government duly announced that she would be subject to normal tax rules.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS Our environment is constantly changing. However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution. While water pollution is caused by oil spill, acid rain, urban runoff; air pollution is caused by

forces a character into a bizarre situation that seems impossible to recover from, only to resolve itself in a clever and satisfying finale. The layers pile up thickly in the longer works, with a character getting into multiple dangerous situations by mid- story. An outstanding example of this is Code of the Woosters where most of the chapters have an essential plot point reversed in the last sentence, catapulting the characters forward into greater diplomatic disasters. Stories 6 short stories: each takes place in Blandings Castle and Lord Emsworth is the protagonist in most of those. He's an old man who lives by the old nobility manners. He has his own view on everything. Also, he is a bit absentminded and that irritates mostly everyone he speaks to. His son, Freddie, also appears a lot in the text. Freddie is a go-getter and is not afraid of almost anything barring old Lord Emsworth himself.

Ireland lost about half of its population, people relied on the potato as their staple diet. Charles Dickens is considered one of the greatest English novelists of all time. He became a very rich man and used his wealth for the causes closest to his heart, such as the antislavery movement, social housing projects and international copyrighting laws. Unfortunately this doesn't mean we can have an endless supply of fuel Breeder reactors need a feedstock of uranium and thorium, so when we run out of these two fuels (in about 1000 years), breeder reactors will cease to be useful. This is still a more lengthy solution to the current burning of coal, gas, and oil. · Reliability Nuclear power plants need little fuel, so they are less vulnerable to shortages because of strikes or natural disasters. International relations will have little effect on the supply of fuel to the reactors because uranium is evenly deposited around the globe. One disadvantage of uranium mining is that it leaves the residues from chemical processing of the ore, which leads to radon exposure to the public. These effects do not outweigh the benefits by the fact that mining uranium out of the ground reduces future radon exposures.
In 1603 when James the IV of Scotland became James I of Scotland and England, he united the two countries under one king. In 1642 the Civil War broke out between supporters of the king and parliamentary forces, led by Oliver Cromwell. King Charles I lost the war and was beheaded in London in 1649. Britain became a republic known as the Commonwealth. In 1660 London welcomed the restoration of the monarchy. The second half of the century was even more devastating. Two Disasters stroke London. The Great Plague and the Great Fire. The Great Plague in 1665, killed a significant part of the population, but it was not until after the Great Fire in 1666 that London became safe again. The Great Fire was even more catastrophic to the buildings of London. It destroyed almost four fifths of London in the raging inferno, including St Paul's Cathedral. Christopher Wren was appointed to oversee the rebuilding of London. Wren was given the task of rebuilding the
Population projections are estimates built on current population data and assumptions about demographic trends, such as declining birth rates and rising life expectancies in particular countries. The projections are what will occur if the current data are accurate and current trends continue. But many events – scientific discoveries, armed conflicts, social movements, political upheavals, natural disasters and changing economic conditions, to name just a few – can shift demographic trends in unforeseen ways. That is why the projections are limited to a 40-year time frame, and subsequent chapters of this report try to give a sense of how much difference it could make if key assumptions were different. For example, China’s 1.3 billion people (as of 2010) loom very large in global trends. At present, about 5% of China’s population

storm, mainly owing to resonance oscillation and by the oxidation of the iron wires. The Dee Bridge disaster spurred the development of malleable wrought-iron girders, thought to be of safer construction. Collapse of the Basse-Chaine Bridge resulted in a twenty-year moratorium on cable- suspension bridge construction in continental Europe. Scientific analysis of bridge design during the 19th century It took the worst bridge disasters of the century in the USA, Great Britain, and France to usher in the development of standards, specifications, and enough regulation to protect the travelling public. The loss of 83 lives caused by the collapse of a cast- and wrought-iron truss in Ashtabula prompted an investigation by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The loss of 80 lives by failure of a section of the two-mile-long Tay Bridge resulted in similar inquiries in Britain.
Slavery cant be part of harmonius society, these planters were drunkers, chased ladys, raped slaves, and so to the according to the southern myth.3. time was considered the greatest enemy of man and hence the meaning of the past is major . 4. Place of setting is very important. All the novels take place in the south, the main idea is the south is dammed, it will have a tragic end, people are doomed because of their original sin of slavery, because they have been exploited natural disasters, some parts of land in the south has bee exhausted by the growth of tobacoo and the native americans, most tribes int he south were exterminated. 5. Awareness and acceptance of evil, southereners were convinced that evil is a part of the world and man himself is evil. 6. Well may it sort that this portentous figure Comes armed through our watch; so like the king That was and is the question of these wars. HORATIO A mote it is to trouble the mind's eye. In the most high and palmy state of Rome, A little ere the mightiest Julius fell, The graves stood tenantless and the sheeted dead Did squeak and gibber in the Roman streets: As stars with trains of fire and dews of blood, 10 Disasters in the sun; and the moist star Upon whose influence Neptune's empire stands Was sick almost to doomsday with eclipse: And even the like precurse of fierce events, As harbingers preceding still the fates And prologue to the omen coming on, Have heaven and earth together demonstrated Unto our climatures and countrymen.— But soft, behold! lo, where it comes again! most clearly recognized. A further factor is that this dysfunction is actually intensifying and accelerating. The First World War broke out in 1914. Destructive and cruel wars, motivated by fear, greed, and the desire for power, had been common occurrences throughout human history, as had slavery, torture, and widespread violence inflicted for religious and ideological reasons. Humans suffered more at the hands of each other than through natural disasters. By the year 1914, however, the highly intelligent human mind had invented not only the internal combustion engine, but also bombs, machine guns, submarines, flame throwers, and poison gas. Intelligence in the service of madness! In static trench warfare in France and Belgium, millions of men perished to gain a few miles of mud. When the war was over in 1918, the survivors look in horror and incomprehension upon the devastation left
your muses, or live up to your principles and ideals. It has great but subtle power, operating on deep levels to communicate with you, perhaps sabotaging your efforts, upsetting your balance until you realize the message these events bring — that you must express your creativity, your true nature, or die. A car accident a few years ago taught me the rebellious power of the Shadow, showed me that I was distracted, out of harmony, heading for even greater disasters if I didn't find a way to express my personal creative side. Occasional puzzled looks on the faces of students taught me that I hadn't com pletely thought through some aspects of the pattern. Some people were confused by the various turning points and ordeals of the model, particularly by the distinction between the midpoint, which I call the Ordeal, and the climax o f the second act, which I call T h e R o a d Back. Trying to explain this led me to a new realization. Each
constant presence." "No one has tried to do away with me today," I reminded him, grateful for the lighter subject. I didn't want him to talk about goodbyes anymore. If I had to, I supposed I could purposefully put myself in danger to keep him close... I banished that thought before his quick eyes read it on my face. That idea would definitely get me in trouble. "Yet," he added. "Yet," I agreed; I would have argued, but now I wanted him to be expecting disasters. "I have another question for you." His face was still casual. "Shoot." "Do you really need to go to Seattle this Saturday, or was that just an excuse to get out of saying no to all your admirers?" I made a face at the memory. "You know, I haven't forgiven you for the Tyler thing yet," I warned him. "It's your fault that he's deluded himself into thinking I'm going to prom with him." "Oh, he would have found a chance to ask you without me -- I just really wanted to watch your face,"
to end in disaster." Secretary of State John Foster Dulles said at the time: "We had no advance information of any kind." The later contradiction by his brother Allen suggests that this may be a cover-up for failure to act. Wigg, moreover, is not an M.P. whose inside information can be taken lightly: in 1963 he exposed the John Profumo- Christine Keeler scandal that very nearly toppled England's Conservative government. Suez has been called one of America's worst intelligence disasters. It seems more likely that the fault lay, not with the producers of intelligence, but with the consumers. No human being has ever had difficulty in finding an excuse to overlook an unpleasant fact. The consumers did not want to believe the contrary evidence of the cryptanalyzed intelligence (assuming that it existed). So they simply did not believe it—and perhaps justified their disbelief on the basis of its incompleteness. Against this human predilection no form of intelligence can prevail.
