The giant's causeway

The giant's causeway Northern Ireland is a beautiful. The most famous sight is the Giant' s causeway on the north coast. According to legend, the columns are old stepping stones, that giants used to cross the channel between ireland and Scotland. Although there are an abundance of tall tales, and myths describing colourful ways the Giant's Causeway came into being, the actual, natural history is a bit less exciting. The actual history is that the rock formations were created by a lava flow some 65 million years ago by molten basalt rising through a chalk bed, and then cooling and cracking to form the tall columns that make up the causeway. Legend: Legend has it that the Finn McCool built the causeway to walk to Scotland to fight his

Newfoundland Geography Newfoundland and Labrador is located on the eastern edge of North America. Newfoundland and Labrador is home to Iceberg Alley, one of the best places in the world to view icebergs. Just off the coast, the meeting of the cool Labrador Current and the warm Gulf Stream creates an abundance of marine life that attracts thousands of whales, and provides rich nesting grounds for millions of seabirds. To put things in perspective, Newfoundland and Labrador is a little smaller than California, slightly bigger than Japan, and twice the size of the entire United Kingdom. Geography The island of Newfoundland covers 111,390 square kilometres. With the addition of the vast territory of Labrador, the province covers a total area of 405,212 square kilometres,

IPCC summary

Answers for the IPCC Summary. 1.Radiative forcing is a measure of the influence that a factor has in altering the balance of incoming and outgoing energy in the Earth-atmosphere system and is an index of the importance of the factor as a potential climate change mechanism. 2.The three main things that alter the energy balance of the climate system are the changes in the atmospheric abundance of greenhouse gases and aerosols, in solar radiation and in land surface properties. 3.The two sources for the increased concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere are production, distribution and consumption of fossil fuels and as a by-product from cement production. 4.The two main sources of methane pollution are agriculture and fossil fuel use. 5.Volcanic aerosols are not included to the list because of their episodic nature. 6.The world's oceans absorb more than 80% of heat. 7

evil, whereas Grendel is a hideous, horrific, grim, fierce and merciless fiend who possesses no good qualities. With the description of Grendel the author actually describes Beowulf as well as he is always the absolute contrary to Grendel. We know that this is an Anglo-Saxon text because it has all the characteristic features of Anglo-Saxon literature. For example the metrical system is alliteration and it is used in abundance e.g. "Many at morning, as men have told me", "Folk-leaders faring from far and near", "By that bloody battle the boon had come" etc. Another characteristic is that there is no rhyme, but rhythm. This was very important in the Anglo-Saxon period as in the contemporary time the epic was performed by court singers. "Beowulf" was written with four beats to each line. The lines were divided into two parts, each with two beats. This is a natural place for a

in search of their own home range. The Mountain Lion is capable stalk-and-ambush predator; the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources include ungulates such as deer and bighorn sheep, but it hunts species as small as insects and rodents The Cougar prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but it can live in open areas. The cougar is territorial and persists at low population densities. Individual territory sizes depend on terrain, vegetation, and abundance of prey. A single male lion may require up to 175 square miles of territory for its home range. They prefer wild areas frequented by deer. One lion will consume about one deer per week. A lion will cover the remains of its prey and return to the kill to feed until the meat begins to turn. If you find a lion kill, don't hang around the area. The animal may still be nearby. For this fishy favorite remains the basis of every typical Swedish buffet. With an abundance of herring in both the North and Baltic Seas, Swedes have been pickling since the middle ages, mainly as a way of preserving the fish for storage and transportation. Pickled herring comes in a variety of flavors — mustard, onion, garlic and dill, to name a few — and is often eaten with boiled potatoes, sour cream, chopped chives, hard sharp cheese, sometimes boiled eggs, and of course, crisp bread. compounds that can evaporate and enter the atmosphere. Air pollutants have sources that are both natural and human. Now, humans contribute substantially more to the air pollution problem. Forest fires, volcanic eruptions, wind erosion, pollen dispersal, evaporation of organic compounds, and natural radioactivity are all among the natural causes of air pollution. Usually, natural air pollution does not occur in abundance in particular locations. The pollution is spread around throughout the world, and as a result, poses little threat to the health of people and ecosystems. Though some pollution comes from these natural sources, most pollution is the result of human activity. The biggest causes are the operation of fossil fuel-burning power plants and automobiles that combust fuel. Combined, these two sources are responsible for about 90% of all air pollution in the United States.

species has a viable future and possesses the genetic capacity to adapt to new circumstances," said Professor Bruford. Scientists count rare river dolphins The completion last month of the first-ever survey assessing pink and grey river dolphins in South America's Orinoco and Amazon Basins has been described as a triumph for fresh-water dolphin conservation. The study which lasted 14 months and covered 3,145km of river spanning 7 countries provides an estimate of the abundance of the two species, and essential information on the most serious threats they face, the current state of their habitats and potential conservation strategies. Communications director for WWF Colombia Julio Mario Fernández said one early conclusion scientists could draw was that river dolphins in the Amazon were doing better than those in the Orinoco. "This is the first phase of a wider programme to preserve freshwater cetaceans in these areas," he added.

Building on the ,,bottle" factor, it is worth noting the importance in general of having a positive attitude about your abilities. The skill and commitment may be there in abundance, but a negative or cautious approach can undermine your potential every time. Though very few would actually welcome adversity, advice is to see it for what it is and make the most of it: learn how to face it, learn how to cope with it, keep your feet on the ground, and when it has passed look back to see what you could have learned from it. In recent years, it seems that perception how one is perceived by others has become critically important to success for managers

The first Europeans arriving there changed that, however. Those were the Vikings from the north. A famous Viking explorer built a settlement there, but it was abandoned. The first settlements that stayed were greatly helped by the fact that there was an abundance of fish stocks in the Atlantic Region. The British and French both sent explorers to those areas, and both countries were interested in creating settlements there. France and Britain, however, didn't have good relations. They fought over colonies and fur trade. Their different religions also caused tension. In 1756, a 7-year war broke out between the two countries. Extended essay: To what extent does a plant-based diet lower the risk of coronary artery disease?

Common factors for reduced coronary artery disease appear to be lower saturated fat intake, lower cholesterol intake and higher fiber intake. Vegan and vegetarian populations also tend to have lower body mass indexes and lower blood pressure which are also positively correlated with a reduced risk of heart disease. However, it is necessary to pay close attention to the diet and to keep it balanced. It’s important to eat an abundance of nutritious whole foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. And to supplement when needed. Vegetarian and vegan diets can be made unhealthy in the absence of whole foods. The same thing goes for the standard diet. Vegans and vegetarians can be just as unhealthy as meat eaters who eat junk food daily. Nowadays there are many options and replacement products for meat and dairy based products, and they’re highly processed in most cases. A vegan can just as

maintained consulates in the United States · About 15,000 Estonians came to the United States · This group was strongly anti-Communist and nationalistic 3. Russian colonization of America. What has preserved from this period to the present? The Russian colonization of the Americas covers the period, from 1732 to 1867, when the Tsarist Imperial Russian Empire laid claim to northern Pacific Coast territories in the Americas. The Russians were primarily interested in the abundance of fur-bearing mammals on Alaska's coast, as stocks had been depleted by overhunting in Siberia. By the middle of the 19th century, profits from Russia's American colonies were in steep decline. Faced with the reality of periodic Indian revolts, the political ramifications of the Crimean War, and unable to fully colonize the Americas to their satisfaction, the Russians concluded that their American colonies were too expensive to retain. after less

ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

In 1904 he accepted the post of director at the Astrakhan2 Music School, where his activities were numerous: teaching, composing prolifically, and performing as an organist and conductor. In 1920 he returned home to Estonia. Don Carlos was first performed in Pavlovsk3, later in Moscow, in Astrakhan and in Tartu4. In the work the main feature of Kapp’s individual style for powerful dramatic tension associated with passionate lyricism was already developing. The score has an abundance of thematic material. The introductory theme begins with the doleful sounds of a French horn: Example 8. The strenuous singing main theme (Violins) is activated by chromatics and syncopation: Example 9. The subsidiary theme is also in a minor key and played as if in one exhalation of breath, this is a wide “vocalisation” (Flute, Clarinet and Violins): like the plaintive song of a lost soul: Example 10. In the slightly extended development section all the thematic material has been

and bitumen, and use more complex and expensive methods to produce the products required. Because heavier crude oils have too much carbon and not enough hydrogen, these processes generally involve removing carbon from or adding hydrogen to the molecules, and using fluid catalytic cracking to convert the longer, more complex molecules in the oil to the shorter, simpler ones in the fuels. Due to its high energy density, easy transportability and relative abundance, oil has become the world's most important source of energy since the mid-1950s. Petroleum is also the raw material for many chemical products, including pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides, and plastics; the 16 per cent not used for energy production is converted into these other materials. Petroleum is found in porous rock formations in the upper strata of some areas of the Earth's crust. There is also petroleum in oil sands (tar sands)

It is what created the fortunes of people like Rockfellers; it is what created companies like Standard Oil which was broken up to become the juggernauts like Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, etc. A lot of the Africa countries possess oil in abundance, including countries like Nigeria, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Libya, Equatorial Guinea and others (now Ghana). In fact, it has become the economic life blood of most Africa countries. But we as Africans don’t have an iota of knowledge of the process of finding the oil and bringing it to use. To discover the oil, a white Caucasian has to bring in his equipment to survey our land or shores. If there is oil, he estimates the amount of oil located in that area

With those who cherish higher ambitions, the desire for wealth is entertained with a view to power and influence and the means of bestowing favours; Marcus Crassus, for example, not long since declared that no amount of wealth was enough for the man who aspired to be the foremost citizen of the state, unless with the income from it he could maintain an army. Fine establishments and the comforts of life in elegance and abundance also afford pleasure, and the desire to secure it gives rise to the insatiable thirst for wealth. Still, I do not mean to find fault with the accumulation of property, provided it hurts nobody, but unjust acquisition of it is always to be avoided. The great majority of people, however, when they fall a prey to ambition for either military or civil authority, are carried away by it so completely that they quite lose sight of the claims of justice

saw their abundant supply of cookies reduced to a scarce supply. Other participants, however, knew only scarcity of supply from the onset, as the number of cookies in their jars was left at two. With this procedure, the researchers were seeking to an- swer a question about types of scarcity: Do we value more those things that have become recently less available to us or those things that have always been scarce? In the cookie experiment, the answer was plain. The drop from abundance to scarcity produced a decidedly more positive reaction to the cookies than did con- stant scarcity. The idea that newly experienced scarcity is the more powerful kind applies to situations well beyond the bounds of the cookie study. For example, social scien- tists have determined that such scarcity is a primary cause of political turmoil and violence. Perhaps the most prominent proponent of this argument is James C.
