Referaat "Chelsea Flower Show"

Considering that Chelsea Flower Show now takes at least 18 months to organize, the RHS was running a tight schedule if it was to be ready in time. At the end of April, a Press luncheon was arranged for Monday, 19 May (a tradition that continues to this day). With only a fortnight to go until the Show opened, the committee agreed that bath chairs should be allowed in, from 9am to 12 noon on the second day, for five shilling extra. Finally Chelsea successfully opened on Tuesday 20 May 1913, for three days. Curiously there is no Council report on how this Show actually went. The Gardner's Chronicle, which provided the best written records of the early Shows, was more forthcoming. The first Chelsea "had exceeded all expectations". The tent, it reported, were 300ft (100m) long and 275ft (80m) wide, taking up six spans and over 2 acres (0,8hectares). Of a total 73,000sq ft (6,780sq m), more than

rohkem ruumi iseendas Kristusele. Nagu ütles Ristija Johannes: ,,Tema peab kasvama ja meie peame kahanema". See ongi lühidalt kokkuvõetult paastuaja mõte. Vastlapäev: Paastuajale eelnev päev on vastlapäev, mis on suurte pidustuste ja ürituste päevaks enne pikka 40-päevast perioodi, mil jätame suured peod ja lõbutsemised tagaplaanile. Prantsuse keeles tuntakse seda päeva Mardi Gras nime all, inglise keeles on see tuntud Fat Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday) nime all, eesti keeli on talle nimeks saanud vastlapäev. Kuigi karnevale on korraldatud laialt ka muude ürituste puhul, on vastlapäev justnimelt algselt see päev, mil karnevalid leidsid aset. Ladina keelest tuletades saame tähenduse ,,head aega, liha", kuna paastuajal enamjaolt loobutakse ka liha söömisest. Nii nagu Kristus veetis 40 päeva kõrbes, on see aeg sisenemiseks meie endi hingekõrbe, et paluda Issandalt juhatust ja tuge

Estonia

Aside from Christmas, Midsummer Eve (June 23) and St. John's Day (June 24) are the most important days in the Estonian calendar. They were celebrated long before the arrival of Christianity in Estonia, although named by the crusaders. The most common tradition associated with those holidays is the lighting of the bonfire and jumping over it. It was seen as a way of guaranteeing prosperity and avoiding bad luck. On Shrove Tuesday, in February or March, adults seize the chance to go sledging together with the children, on the pretext of the old custom. On St. Martin's Day (10 Nov) and St. Catherine's Day (25 Nov), children in costumes go from house to house, earning sweets with their singing and dancing.

Religious customs focus on holidays: All Saints Day, Mardi gras and Easter, for example. On All Saints Day Creoles bring flowers made of white, black, or purple tissue paper to place on graves in the cemetery. The week before this holiday shops display crowns and crosses with black beads. Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent. At Easter, rabbits come out at night. The children try to stay up as late as possible, but they don't see the rabbits. The rabbit's nests are found filled with colored eggs both outside and inside the house. When the children find all the eggs, they have a contest of egg breaking. The child who breaks the egg takes it. The child with the most eggs at the end of the game is the winner.

On that day January 26, Australians celebrate their nationhood, as that day marks the first settlement in Australia by Europeans. On September 17 is the Citizenship Day, and on March 21 is Harmony Day, which celebrates their racial respect and community harmony. The football match starts at half past five. I’ve got the tour details here. We spend three days in Rome. 2. It's all go - next week I have my operation; then the week after that I go on holiday... 3. Similarly, calendar references use the Present Simple. Christmas is on a Tuesday next year. Next Friday is the thirteenth. Future Continuous In Future Continuous we use will be + an ing-form. It is the same in all persons. Komad inglise keeles

· Does the clause, phrase, or word interrupt the flow of words in the original sentence? · If you move the element to a different position in the sentence, does the sentence still make sense? If you answer "yes" to one or more of these questions, then the element in question is nonessential and should be set off with commas. Here are some example sentences with nonessential elements: Clause: That Tuesday, which happens to be my birthday, is the only day when I am available to meet. Phrase: This restaurant has an exciting atmosphere. The food, on the other hand, is rather bland. Word: I appreciate your hard work. In this case, however, you seem to have over-exerted yourself. 4. Do not use commas to set off essential elements of the sentence, such as clauses beginning with that (relative clauses). That clauses after nouns are always essential.

In 1606 Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators attempted to blow up the House of Parliament but they didn’t succeed. In England the most well known activity is the Pancake Day race at Olney in Buckinghamshire. Only women are allowed to participate in this race. Only women are allowed to participate in this race. Californians for Population Stabilization, U.S. population growth is now the highest among developed countries and exceeds that of China. Births, supplemented by immigration, help to offset the aging population. The total U.S. population crossed the 100 million mark around 1915, the 200 million mark in 1967, and the 300 million mark in 2006 (On Tuesday, October, 17). The U.S. population more than tripled during the 20 th - a growth rate of about 1.3 percent a year - from about 76 million in 1900 to 281 million in 2000. This is unlike most European countries, especially Germany, Russia, Italy and Greece, whose populations are slowly declining, and whose fertility rates are below replacement. Estuary English - A Controversial Issue?

The erosion of the English class system and the greater social mobility in Britain today means that this trend is more clearly noticeable than was once the case. (Wells 1997) - `the sudden emergence of a new type of English' results from irresponsible disregard for the facts. 3. Commonly cited salient features of Estuary English · l-vocalization, milk miwk · glottalling, using a glottal stop · happY-tensing; happy, coffee, valley · yod coalescence; Tuesday, tune, attitude, duke, reduce · diphthong shift, FACE, PRICE and GOAT vowels (wotshor nime?) (Wells 1997) perhaps to a phonemic split (wholly holy) (Wells 1994) The features that Wells excludes from EE's phonetic make-up that are typical of Cockney are: · h-dropping, so that Cockney hand on heart becomes ('and on 'eart). · th-fronting, using labiodental fricatives instead of dental fricatives This turns I think into /a fink/ and mother into /move/ (Wells 1997)

Chapter 12 In consequence of an agreement between the sisters, Elizabeth wrote the next morning to their mother, to beg that the carriage might be sent for them in the course of the day. But Mrs. Bennet, who had calculated on her daughters remaining at Netherfield till the following Tuesday, which would exactly finish Jane's week, could not bring herself to receive them with pleasure before. Her answer, therefore, was not propitious, at least not to Elizabeth's wishes, for she was impatient to get home. Mrs. Bennet sent them word that they could not possibly have the carriage before Tuesday; and in her postscript it was added, that if Mr. Bingley and his sister pressed them to stay longer, she could spare them very well.

Trying to prevent it--attempting to sustain a reduced-calorie diet, for example--is when yo-yoing becomes pathological and uncontrollable. Scheduling overeating at specific times, on the other hand, fixes problems instead of creating them. The top bodybuilders in the world understand this and, even when in a pre-contest dieting phase, will cycle calories to prevent hormonal downregulation.5 The daily average might be 4,000 calories per day, but it would be cycled as follows: Monday, 4,000; Tuesday, 4,500; Wednesday, 3,500, etc. Ed Coan, described as the Michael Jordan of powerlifting, set more than 70 world records in his sport. Among other things, he deadlifted an unbelievable 901 pounds at 220 pounds bodyweight, beating even super-heavyweights. His trainer at the time, Marty Gallagher, has stated matter-of-factly that "maintaining peak condition year-round is a ticket to the mental ward."
