Some people say that while the appearance of waif-like models in the media may send a dangerous message about eating disorders, general fitness and fashion magazines and television shows with thin characters also play a key role in influencing irregular eating patterns. I agree this fact and I think people say that because lots of young people, mostly girls, think that they are overweight or fat. They think that because in magazines and in television there are mostly people with perfect appearance. Often these people start a diet, because they want to look like those models in fashion magazines. They eat few food and hope that when they don't eat as much as they want, they will look better. It
The Importance of Pets Pets play an important role in today's society and are capable of influencing people's lives in many ways. However, are they really so useful as we think? From an educational standpoint, when you get a pet you will have to take care of a creature which will depend entirely on you. Your pet's life is in your hands and this alone will make you a more responsible person. However, you will always need to keep an eye on your pet and this will restrict your ability to do other things.
four Golden Globes. Chocolat begins with arrival of Vianne Rocher in a tiny French village. She is a single mother with a young daughter. In village was the beginning of fasting and people weren’t eating so much. Vianne moves with her daughter into a disused bakery facing the church, where a man - Francis Reynaud - watches her arrival with disapproval and is suspicious. When he realizes that Vianne wants to open a chocolate shop in place of the old bakery, influencing the church-goers, Reynaud’s disapproval increases more. As it becomes clear that villagers are being influenced by Vianne, he quickly sees her as danger. Under Vianne’s control an old woman starts a new life, a wife finds courage to leave her mean husband, children rebel against authority and Reynaud’s community is danger of falling apart. Soon is Easter and Vianne and Reynaud start preparing: Vianne for a chocolate festival, Reynaud for winning back hearts of the villagers.
needles into the skin at specific points of the body. These points are believed to be energy channels and related to the internal organs. Aromatherapy is the method of healing using very concentrated essential oils that are often highly aromatic and extracted from plants. There are several tehniques used in aromatherapy. Massage is the most familiar method of treatment. Essential oils are able to penetrate through skin and are taken into the body, healing and influencing inner organs. The addition of a number of drops of an essential oil to the bath water is soothing and relaxing, easing aches and pains and banishing tiredness. Feeding on food Everything we eat is made up of different useful substances. These are called nutrients. The biggest groups are proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Proteins are found in food like meat, fish, egg, cheese etc. carbohydrates give us energy to move and think and talk
To begin with, I would have to agree with Hitchcock. Television really does promote violence, but there is still nothing being done. People, especially young children are still watching intense movies and cartoons. They are not understanding the reality that is before them. That is why I agree that television promotes violence. In the first place, in the past couple of years the number of violent children has increased by ten percent. That is due to badly influencing shows that are being shown on the television. Children are not understanding the boundary between reality and imagination. That is the real problem with the younger generation. You always have to make sure that they watch movies and shows that are suitable for their age group. Secondly, all people from all ages get influenced by the television if they watch a lot of horror and action movies. It is proved, that if you constantly watch violent movies, your personality
The role of the free press Newspapers and magazines play an imoportant role in today's society and are capable of influencing people's lives in many ways. The new electronic media have become even more influential in shaping people's opinions, attitudes and behaviour. However, does the free press offer a valuable service, or is it, as American journalist, Edward Egglestone said, "organised gossip"? On a personal level, the media can be very entertaining and informative. Reading about the lifestyles of the rich and famous is amusing and can help people forget their own problems
food, but children do not understand that junk food is not good for their health. They are unaware of the fact that junk food does not contain nutritional value. One thing is that the people who are in junk food commercials are usually thin not fat and in some age children may think than when they eat junk food they become as thin as the models in these commercials. Thirdly, parents are often worried about what their children are looking from TV, but parents can not always protect them from bad influencing ads or commercials. Parents should teach to their children the importance and value of money. Also they should talk about how to become less influenced by the messages in the ads and how to be critical of ads. Parents should also set limits for example how long kids can watch TV or play on the computer. In conclusion, I think that advertising has bad influence when parents do not look what their kids are watching from TV or from Internet. On the other hand

Keynesian revolution explains why the study of macroeconomics is so intertwined with policy and politics. - Two traditional demand management instruments are fiscal and monetary policy. Fiscal policy manipulates government expenditures or taxes in an attempt to affect the volume of national spending. et al. 2002). Soil microflora cycles carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, plays a role in soil structure formation, decomposition of organic matter, toxin removal, promoting plant growth, and in changes in vegetation (Canbolat at al. 2005 and Martin et al. 2012). Therefore, soil microflora plays a major role in preservation and the balance of life. Because of active role of soil micro- population, the diminution in microbial activity is always alarming (Barabasz et al. 2002). Factors influencing soil microflora Soil microorganisms depend on soil for their nutrition, growth and activity. Based on My Agriculture Information Bank (2013) the major soil factors which influence the microbial population, distribution and their activity in the soil are: 1. Natural conditions (including soil fertility, pH, aeritation, temperature, moisture, organic matter, food and energy supply, microbial association and interactions) 2. Cultural practices
I agree to Giddens – person isn´t born with identity, everyone has to build and develop it during the whole life. Many factors play their own roles in this process, and I think the first factor is a family. All mayor impressions about culture, religion, relations we carry through life starting from families, especially parents. Secondary factor, what comes to characters´ life is neighbourhood and friends. From this moment factors are starting to interact, influencing our thoughts and feelings. Later as a factor could come religion or state or work – it depends on characters´ life. Factors interactions could be very different – they can supply one another or to be in conflict. For example, when our character will be deciding who is right about skipping lessons, his friends or his mother. This very common thing could influence characters´ future and his decision depends only on his choice, his thoughts and behaviour.
linked to learned helplessness. Many of these stimuli are environmental stressors. Both acute and chronic exposure to noise, crowding, traffic congestion, and pollution are capable of causing learned helplessness in adults and children. Pre-exposure to brief, acute environmental stressors that are uncontrollable produces learned helplessness wherein participants manifest difficulties in learning a new task because of their mistaken belief that they are incapable of influencing their environment. · Another index of learned helplessness, less persistence in the face of challenge also follows acute exposure to uncontrollable environmental stressors. · Depressed affect may co-occur with learned helplessness under certain circumstances. Field studies of chronic environmental stressors reveal parallel trends. Chronic environmental stressors also heighten vulnerability to the induction of learned helplessness by acute,
hamburger. I believe that Burger King definitely crossed the morality line with this advertisement. Burger King’s commercial is just one out of thousands of examples of sexist media that exist around the world. As aforementioned these commercials diminish teenage girls’ self-esteem. Not only do these ads affect females, they also have a large role in influencing young boys, whose values and understandings in life are not yet fully developed. Sexist marketing, such as Burger King’s, have a tremendous impact in shaping teenagers’ values in life. When I first encountered this repulsive text, I happened to be standing next to a group of 13-14 year old boys who were also looking at Burger King’s commercial. To my surprise their opinion differed greatly as they

with their multi-store model that has been one of the most influential models of memory to date. The model is based on two assumptions: memory consists of separate stores and memory processes are sequential. It consists three major components: 1) Sensory memory: briefly holds incoming sensory information. 2) Short-term memory: temporarily holds a limited amount of information. 3) Long-term memory: our vast library of more durable sored memories. The actions influencing the information's way to the different memory stores are attention, coding and rehearsal. This model is very simplistic and reflects the knowledge available in the 19060s. Sperling conducted a classic experiment on how long sensory memory can hold information. He flashed a matrix of 12 letters on a screen for 1/20 of a second and asked to recall as many letters as the participants could (typically 3 to 5 letters). The

Attitudes, perceptions, image, roles, motivations, determinants etc. encourage us to buy or not to buy a product or service. coastline is some 4,600km (2,760 miles) long. (Finland: Insight compact guides) 2 Climate The climate in Southern Finland is a northern temperate climate. In Northern Finland, particularly in the Province of Lapland, a subarctic climate dominates, characterised by cold, occasionally severe, winters and relatively warm summers. The main factor influencing Finland's climate is the country's geographical position between the 60th and 70th northern parallels in the Eurasian continent's coastal zone, which shows characteristics of both a maritime and a continental climate, depending on the direction of air flow. Finland is near enough to the Atlantic Ocean to be continuously warmed by the Gulf Stream, which explains the unusually warm climate considering the absolute latitude.
and control key media organizations with respect to maintain their position. It has been noted (Peregudov 2009: 48), that the most noticeable changes in the partyparliamentary system in contemporary Russia concern the actions by the leadership of United Russia to expand its public ties and contacts outside bureaucratic structures. Without a doubt, United Russia has often been used as a channel for patronage, material benefits and influencing policy. Belonging to the dominant party gives legislators numerous opportunities to gain access to money and influence. Therefore, once the legislation has reached the floor for a vote, members of United Russia seldom stand against the party's position (Remington 2008: 214). Since becoming the first party in the State Duma, United Russia has given its members new institutional resources with which to accommodate their need to serve particularistic interests

As seen from the examples at the end of the last subchapter, the liquidity management and capital management serve at least partly the same purpose.

Who were the Loyalists, why and when did they move to Canada? Loyalists were American colonists, of different ethnic backgrounds, who supported the British cause during the American Revolution (1775–83). Tens of thousands migrated to British North America during and after the revolutionary war — boosting the population and heavily influencing the politics and culture of what would become Canada. The vast majority of Loyalists were neither well-to-do nor particularly high in social rank; most were farmers, labourers, tradespeople and their families. They were of varied cultural backgrounds, and many were recent immigrants. White Loyalists brought large numbers of slaves with them. Until 1834, slavery was legal in all British North American colonies but Upper Canada, where the institution was being phased out.

Lindisfarne is an island off the coast of Northumbria where the Irish monk St Aidan founded a monastery in 635. The island was one of the most important centers for Christianity, influencing the development of other monastic communities. Around the year 700 the monks on the island compiled the “Lindisfarne Gospels”, a book of illustrated Gospel stories that greatly influenced later history-writing. The gospels were kept safe from the Vikings and are now in display in the Library of the British Museum. 28. Downing Street. A little by-street running off Whitehall. Those old and new customs coexist in harmony influencing each other and bringing variety anf glamour to people's everyday lives. "Jaanipäev" ("John's Day" in English) was celebrated long before the arrival of Christianity in Estonia, although the day was given its name by the crusaders. The arrival of Christianity, however, did not end pagan beliefs and fertility rituals surrounding this holiday. In 1578, Balthasar Russow wrote in his Livonian Chronicle about Estonians who placed more importance on the festival than going to church
thirds of the world population do not yet use it. In certain parts of the world (most of the states of the former Soviet Union, for example), English has still a very limited presence. And in some countries, increased resources are being devoted to maintaining the role of other languages (such as the use of French in several countries of Africa). Notwithstanding the general world trend, there are many linguistic confrontations still to be resolved. Governments who wish to play their part in influencing the world’s linguistic future should therefore ponder carefully, as they make political decisions and allocate resources for language planning. Now, more than at any time in linguistic history, they need to adopt long-term views, and to plan ahead – whether their interests are to promote English or to develop the use of other languages in their community (or, of course, both). If they miss this linguistic boat, there may be no other. [1, p. 26- 28 ] 1.5 The Role of English Today

Although the courts have sometimes decided that it is a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction (MEQR). (As they did in the case of International Fruit Co NV v Produktschap voor Groenten en Fruit (cases 51-4/71). Directive 70/50 highlighted how QR's and MEQR's did not have to be legally binding. For example, the Buy Irish case (Commission v. Ireland (249/81), where it was held that Irish policies were influencing traders and frustrating the aims of the Union. Measures Equivalent to Quantitative Restrictions (MEQR's) What are MEQR's defined as? The case of Dassonville defined MEQR's as, "All trading rules enacted by Member States which are capable of hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially, intra-Union trade..." What types of actions count as MEQR's? The concept of MEQR is wider in scope than quantitative restrictions. MEQR's can be divided into two different scopes.
nineties. The upheaval is characterised by an increase in the number of original publications and improvement in the quality and design of publications. Children's literature which is supposed to associate with ethical, aesthetic and social development of young generations has become a part of an entertainment industry called children's culture. One cannot become a successful children's writer without realising and following this development. In this thesis I observe the extraliterary factors influencing the development of new Estonian children's literature. The development of re-independence time Estonian children's literature is characterised by the domination of translated literature which introduced the market with badly translated and edited yet colourful books. It became evident that for a book's success it does not only have to be well written but also well designed. Modeled on colourful translated books of western origin Heiki Vilep's books for

departure points of jazz; its relations with and antagonism against serious (or art) music; the relationship between jazz and popular culture. In order to underline the specific features of the development of jazz in Estonia, some light is shed also on the spread of this type of music in the northern region of the Baltic Sea. This makes it possible, on the one hand, to get an overview of the influence of jazz on local dance music and, on the other hand, of the possible factors influencing the development of Estonian jazz. The study has revealed that jazz reached Estonia as dance music in the mid-1920s. Our musicians had no direct models or teachers when jazz reached Estonia; even the institution of dance orchestras was missing at that time. Despite all this, very soon there appeared a number of orchestras playing jazz-like music. This work describes the appearance of jazz in Estonia and its development until 1945, including thus all the information known and

students were Helmut Rosenvald and Lembit Veevo. Anatoli Garshnek (1918-1998) began composing in the Fifties. After finishing his studies with Eller in 1950, though he willingly left his post-graduate studies at the Moscow Conservatoire, he began a career teaching composition and theory of music at the Tallinn State Conservatoire. Among his best students were Anti Marguste, Mati Kuulberg and René Eespere. The output of Garshnek is connected with Setu folk music, influencing his symphonic works (First Symphony, 1953) and the vocal-symphonic composition Five Setu Songs (1953). Garshnek was also influenced by the times and their ideological demands. His Sinfonietta (1957) is easy listening music: there is the joy of life, the sun is always shining, and all proceeds in a straight line. The Second Symphony (Youth, 1963) as its name suggests has a programmatic nature with lots of youthful momentum, elements of the grotesque and humour. It could almost be staged
enough recovered; but Jane was firm where she felt herself to be right. To Mr. Darcy it was welcome intelligence--Elizabeth had been at Netherfield long enough. She attracted him more than he liked--and Miss Bingley was uncivil to her, and more teasing than usual to himself. He wisely resolved to be particularly careful that no sign of admiration should now escape him, nothing that could elevate her with the hope of influencing his felicity; sensible that if such an idea had been suggested, his behaviour during the last day must have material weight in confirming or crushing it. Steady to his purpose, he scarcely spoke ten words to her through the whole of Saturday, and though they were at one time left by themselves for half-an-hour, he adhered most conscientiously to his book, and would not even look at her. On Sunday, after morning service, the separation, so agreeable to almost all, took place.
well-off. At the end of our session, he said something to convince me that he ap- preciated this point quite clearly. "Doc," he said on his way out, "I feel a lot better about my job now. 1 mean, I'm in Phoenix where the sun shines 300 days a year, right? Thank God I don't do the weather in Buffalo." The weatherman's parting comment reveals that he understood more than 1 had told him about the principle that was influencing his viewers' liking for him. Being connected with bad weather does have a negative effect, but being con- nected with sunshine should do wonders for his popularity. And he was right. The principle of association is a general one, governing both negative and positive con- nections. An innocent association with either bad things or good things will influence how people feel about us (Lott 8{ Lott, 1965). Our instruction about the way negative association works seems to have been
(3/9/1945, in the Continental style), and his personal keynumber (13, changed to 20 in 1956). The latter three keys generated the keys for two transpositions and the coordinates of a straddling checkerboard through a process that was complicated but that possessed a kind of tractive logic, was meant to be memorized, and probably would be after two or three run-throughs. This process injected an arbitrary five-digit number at the very beginning of the key derivation, strongly influencing the end result. (This number was also inserted in a predetermined position in the cryptogram so that the decipherer would have it. In Hayhanen's case, this position was the fifth group from the end, the position coming from the last figure, 5, of the victory date.) This group changed from message to message, so the enciphering keys, and consequently the ciphertexts of all messages enciphered in this system, would bear no exploitable relation to one another
