5 VÄGA HEA

Essay : What age you would choose to be if you could stay the same age forever ?

Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever?
What’s the use of everlasting life if we can’t maintain a youthful spirit ? Better to die with a hopeful eye on the future than to have such a long empty difficult life though eternity .
To begin with ,if most of us one day have the opportunity to extend our lives indefinitely, how will that change the dynamics of society and culture? A typical person living to 80 years of age goes through several dramatic changes in his lifetime : his opinions and attitudes change, his interests, his friends , his career , sometimes even how he remembers the past. Imagine how much change would take place in a thousand years of life! We wouldn’t be a shadow of the persons we once were.
The idea of living forever remains locked to science- fiction . I believe there are many different aspects to take into consideration .
Secondly let’s have a look at the advantages. I think that one key benefit to being around forever would be the  experience  gained during this eternity. Anything and everything on our list of "to-do"
could be completed - whether that would be  traveling  to far-off destinations and around the
world, experiencing  exotic  tastefull foods or sleeping 20 hours a day.
Another  positive , at least for most people , would be the ability to experience the future. An
eternal being could experience the future technologies. With each new  discovery  that shakes
the fields of science, we would be there.
Learning , educating and absorbing information daily takes up lots of time. With a life of
eternity, we could learn endlessly. We could learn as many languages as we wanted and we
could read every book that has ever been on our "to-do" lists .
On the other side, one would have to factor in the mental part of immortality when one chooses physical immortality. The impact on human society would be another disadvantage. If most humans choose to be immortals, the Earth would obviously be not able to sustain them and their needs. We would be still threatened to non-natural deaths, like different illnesses, fire or flood . It would still take time to do things. If Iwere the only one living forever, I would have to watch people die around me, particularly myloved ones. I think this is the biggest disadvantages there is to living forever .
All in all living longer is another story. I often wish I had a device that could slow down, or
even freeze time for everything around me at my own will. I could enjoy the  good  times for
longer periods of time. I would still age. I would still die. But I would accomplish more.
But coming back to reality , we have to remeber as I said in the beginning - the idea of living
forever remains locked to science-fiction.

Imagine you received a letter from a friend , write him back describing your plans for summer .
Dear Sidorela
I finish my first year of university on July , and after that comes the desirable summer . I just can’t wait until it comes. With all of those plans to do, it’s really going to be fun! I’ll tell you my awesome plans.
This summer I’m going to Spain, Corralejo, finally completing my big dream .  Along the way we might make some stops. Firstly we will stop to Italy and then to France . The way from France to UK is scheduled to get across by train . We will arrive there on Saturday . Corralejo is the largest resort on Fuerteventura. Town Beach , with its calm waters, is best for families . Diving, fishing , and tours to nearby islands are other popular pursuits . One of the Sundays will be the most fun because we’re going too an island . After that, I might go swimming with my family. When we get there I will play volleyball mostly. Since the summer gets really hot I will enjoy getting wet at the beach. I may fish there, too. I hope I catch a fish to eat. When I go to the water park I will run through the water and get wet. I could always take my water gun and spray myself, too. My Dad and I might have a water balloon fight .
Spain is a wonderful country, I especially like the language they speak and the free life they do. There’s just so much fun stuff to do in the summer at Spain .
Than as soon as I get back I think I’ll relax after the vacations I had, then I will try improvise something useful until university starts on October .
Please write and tell me what your plans are for the summer.
Kisses and hugs
Pamela

Letters

· Read the letter again and underline the opening and closing remarks, then replace them with other appropriate expressions. Dear Ann and David, We're writing to invite you to our house-warming party on May 26th. Our new house is wonderful; it's a semi-detached town house with three bedrooms and a small back garden. The kitchen is huge, and is fitted with wooden cupboards that make you feel as if you are in a country kitchen. Alt three bedrooms are rather small but very cosy. The living room is quite big and has lovely French windows which open onto a terrace. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding the house, but here are a few directions so you don't get lost. Take the A27 road for Lewes and turn right at the roundabout where there is a signpost for Hawkstead. Drive through the town until you get to the post office, then turn left into Potter's Lane. Our house is number 23, on the right- hand side. We hope you'll be able to make it to our party

THE CAPITALIST NIGER

because he has little money. As a Capitalist Nigger, you must look into the eyes of your friends and tell them to f&%k off. When you succeed in building a successful company, hire some of them, but keep them at arm’s length; never allow them to report directly to you. You should heed the adage that familiarity breeds contempt; these people can derail your organizational peace by their attitude of isn’t- this-the-person-I-used-to-know. And if after giving them the opportunity to earn a living and they still don’t get it, have them fired immediately. Don’t feel any remorse. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER Right now, it would appear that the present generation of Blacks prefer to dwell on the accomplishments of their forebears. Yes, we talk about our Egyptian cousins who built the Pyramids, who really don’t prefer to be regarded as Blacks but rather Arabs. We dwell on our forebears who invented this or that, which invariably were denied to them before exploiting its marketability.
