Manufacturing. Australia imports more manufactured goods than it exports. The nation has to import many of its producer goods factory machinery, construction equipment and so on. Australia's iron and steel industry produces enough of the metals to meet the needs of other industries. The leading manufactured products are food, cars, paper, chemicals, clothing and shoes. Most of the factories are located in and around Sydney ad Melbourne. Forestry and fishing. Forests cover about 6 per cent of Australia. The majority of Australia's trees are eucalyptuses. The wood of eucalyptus is used for making paper, floorboards and furniture. Although Australia is surrounded by water, its fishing resources are limited. They catch shellfish, lobsters, oysters, prawns and scallops, also salmon and tuna. Tourism. Australia has a variety of tourist attractions. They include wildlife

Overfishing

Good afternoon. My name is Siiri Paurson. And I will be speaking today about OVERFISHING. I will be speaking for about 10 minutes. I’ll be pleased to answer any questions you may have at the end of the presentation. INTRODUCTION: What is overfishing? What is causing overfishing? Why is overfishing a problem? Fishing down the food web. What can we do to help? WHAT IS OVERFISHING?: Overfishing can be defined in a number of ways. However, everything comes down to one simple point: Catching too much fish for the system to support leads to an overall degradation (degrödašon) to the system. Overfishing is a non-sustainable use of the oceans. WHAT IS CAUSING OVERFISHING?: Worldwide, fishing fleets are two to three times as large as

Whitehall palace 8 Mullbery Crescent London SW2 Hayes Middlesex UB4 OQA 26.02.2010 Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to draw your attention to problems concerning threats that are connected with fishing. A study shoes that, rather than pollution, fishing appears to be the biggest threat to porpoises. Each year more than 10000 porpoises are killed in the seas around Britain. Fishingboats are using a technique witch consists in leaving the nets on the sea bed for several hours. When porpoises come to feed on the sea bed, they get caught in the nets and drown. There is a need for a research to make nets safer for porpoises. For example, one possibility would be to restrict the length of nets. This should be a duty of marine mammal

The Pilgrim Fathers

A Native American called Squanto helped those Pilgrim Fathers who survived the harsh winter. He showed them how to sow maize and how to cultivate the crop. Seeds brought from England were of little use in their new environment. By the summer of 1621, the Pilgrim Fathers had built houses for themselves and had gathered up a small harvest. They were well recovered in health and strength, and had all things in good plenty. For, as some were thus working in the fields, others took part in fishing for cod and bass and other fish. Of these, they took good store, a large amount of which every family had its share. All the summer there was of no want. And then began to arrive flocks of duck and geese. However, not all Native Americans were friendly. As a result, a wooden fence with watchtowers surrounded the homes that had been built and the gates in the fence were locked at night. By 1622 the Pilgrim Fathers had built a fort to protect themselves. It also served as a meeting place

Greenland

Located in Arctic Ocean Also known as Grønland Kalaallit Nunaat Population 60,324 (2000 Estimate) Total area 2,175,600 square kilometres Greenland, a selfgoverning dependency of Denmark, is the largest island in the world. Greenland consists of an interior icecovered plateau surrounded by a mountainous, generally icefree rim. The interior ice cap is thickest near the centre of the island, where the maximum depth is estimated to be about 3,353 metres (11,000 feet). Underneath the ice cover are the ancient rocks of the Greenland Shield, which is geologically related to the Canadian Shield. Drainage is afforded mainly by the so called ice fjords, in which glaciers from the ice caps pass through valleys to the sea, where they form thousands of icebergs each year. The climate is extremely cold, although the south experiences a short summer. The mammals of Greenland are more American than European and include muskox, wolves, lemmings...

The story is set on a big ocean. On the first pages, old man comes from fishing. Then he starts eating dinner with a boy. As the story develops, the man goes again to the sea to get fish. Then a big fish swallows the beat. The fish is so big that starts to pull the boat. The plot of the story is quite drab, but interesting too. The book contains lots of methaphors, which make the novel more vivid. There are no ilustrations in the book, expect on the cover. On the one hand the book is a little bit drab, but on the other hand, the book raises the curiousity.

Is it better to live in a city or is the countryside

Is it better to live in a city or is the countryside?

However, there are also people living in the countryside. They are two entirely different ways of life - each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Most of the younger generation lives in the city because there is much more to do than in the countryside. You can go to the cinema, to a theatre, shopping, clubbing, to a gym etc. You will never run out of activities to do. While that may be true, there are some things that you can only do in the countryside for example going fishing, camping or playing outside with your pets. A calm rural lifestyle is for people who enjoy peace and quiet. In addition to that there is fresh air, which is good for your health. You are also more likely to be more active and walk in the nature. Having said that, in the city there are hospitals and drugstores nearby, so if you get sick or injured, you will have drugs and helpful doctors right around the corner. From my point of view, living in a city is easier and better

Egypt, where most of them spend the winter. Sometimes there are well over a hundred storks, as well as other waterbirds, resting in the calm waters of the lagoon. Folk tradition ties Panga cliff as a place of worship and sacrifice for the ancient Saarlanders. It is known that until well into the 19th century, local fishermen poured libations of beer and whisky over the edge of the cliff, especially at midsummer eve, to ensure lots of fish during the coming year. There is a fishing spell that was chanted in Mustjala parish, and it says: "Come, come closer codfish to me. Bite my hook my dearest gray one. My hooks are silver, dipped in gold and slipped in lead."

I prefer the other topic, that people should prefer to go outside. There are so many interesting activities to do outside.Like you might go out with your family and do something new.Like you can go fishing which is very popular in summertime. You can do sports which is very good for your health and you can stay fit.But what is the most important you are a healthy person, when you go out and keep yourself busy with your friends or family. Health is the secret of beauty. It does not cost much and every person can afford it to himself.Keep fit and be happy!

which motivated them to stop USA's underground nuclear testing and that was the first time they did something good for environment and they wanted to keep doing that. Objectives 1 Greenpeace is perhaps best known for its campaigns to protect whales and other large aquatic animals from hunters and trappers. Greenpeace programs target multiple areas of ocean defense, centering primarily on pollution and unfair or abusive fishing practices. 2 Many electronics and other products contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals that are difficult to dispose of and impossible to recycle. Greenpeace studies the effects of these chemicals on water, air and the human body and advocates substituting safer alternatives for dangerous materials. 3 Logging and clear-cutting of ancient forests drive species of plants and animals toward extinction and threaten the lives of people whose survival depends on the forest's resources
