Unbelievable? Well, sociolinguistics, sociopathology, sociophonetics are all very fascinating subjects. Never thought a single word or a sound you make could tell random strangers who you are? Well, prepare to be convinced otherwise. (Well, not solely by these two articles or my short conclusions, of course, it is a very wide field and there is yet much research to be done.) Anyhow, here I have found two research articles, both dealing with whether it is possible to distinguish someone's sexual identity solely based upon a few words, or much less, a single phone. As it turns out, it is. How it is done, is also shown (although I must admit that my current education did not allow me to understand all the details of the methods used) and a lot of research poured into finding out what it is that random people find "sounding gay" or "sounding heterosexual". The articles have a nine year gap, and the newer, written 2015 also mentions Munson et al's research several times

them. Goal of my research work Ø Goal of my research work is to prove that idioms in the English language are integral part of it, which make our speech more colorful and authentically native. Tasks I like to achieve the following tasks: 1. To classify idioms; 2. To study the problem of the translation of idioms; 3. To understand the aim of the modern usage of idioms; 4. To distinguish different kinds of idioms; 5. To analyze the frequency of idioms' usage referring to English. Hypothesis Ø My suggestions is the Second World War was the turning point in many areas in life, because after the war new interactive medium have changed the English language more to the American English direction. The object of the work Ø The object of my research work is present day English and understanding
For example the ways people acted fifty years ago may not fit into today's world, but then there are the grandchildren's generation that can show and teach elderly how it is acceptable to do something. And then there are older generations that can remind youngers why it is important to appreciate family relations, remember your relatives and what are real values in life, because in this fast-changing world it is sometimes quite hard to distinguish important from unimportant. Last year was the year of active ageing and solidarity between generations. I think it was very nice initiative. It reminded so many important things to people. We should not forget how many wonderful and differently experienced people live around us and what we have to learn from them.

the British Parliament,Westminster Parliament or simply "Westminster". The British constitution has envolved over many centuries and unlike many other nations, the UK has no single constitutional documents. But Britain does, however, have certain important constitutional documents, including Magna Carta, Bill of Rights and Reform Act. It is formed partly by statue law, partly by common law and partly by conventions. Fundamental law doesn´t exist in the United Kingdom. There can be distinguish three separate organs: the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. Parliament, the law-making body, consists of three elements: the Monarchy, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. They meet together only on occasions of ceremonial significance, such as the state opening of Parliament. The Monarch's principle function is to carry out certain ceremonial duties. The Queen is regarded as national symbol and also as a symbol of the unity of the Commonwealth. The British monarch must be
Raphael (April 6 or March 28, 1483 April 6, 1520) was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. Raphael was enormously productive, running an unusually large workshop. Most of his work remains especially in the Vatican. He received his first training from his father, Giovanni Santi, who was a poet and a painter. After that he became a student and assistant of the painter Perugino. Raphael imitated his master closely and sometimes it is difficult to distinguish which works are painted by Raphael. His work at that period is Marriage of the Virgin (1.) Mary receives a ring from Joseph. In contrast to the calm figures of the main group, there are one man, who is shown in motion (liikuvuses). He is breaking a dead stick over his knee, because he fail to win Mary's heart. Joseph's stick, on the other hand, has blossomed. Raphael moved to Florence, where he studied the methods of representing the play of light and shade, anatomy, and dramatic action

In 1957, Richard Knerr and Arthur "Spud" Melin, starting with the idea of Australian bamboo "exercise hoops". Hooping The past few years have seen the re- emergence of hula hooping, generally referred to as either "hoopdance" or simply "hooping" to distinguish it from the children's playform. An International Holiday World Hoop Day has become the hula hoop holiday celebrating the circle around the world. Many modern hoopers make their own hoops out of polyethylene tubing. They are much larger and heavier than hoops of the 1950s. The size and the weight of the hoop affects style of the hooper. Heavier, larger hoops are more often used for slow hooping and body tricks while lighter,

Continental Philosophy In "Being and Time" Heidegger turned phenomenology toward "existential" questions about freedom, anguish and death. Later, French thinkers influenced by Husserl and Heidegger, especially Sartre and Merleau-Ponty, developed their own versions of phenomenologically based existentialism. Continental Philosophy The term "continental philosophy" was the invention of analytic philosophers of the mid-20th century who wanted to distinguish themselves from the phenomenologists and existentialists of continental Europe. Over the last 50 years, the term has been extended to many other European movements, such as Hegelian idealism, Marxism, hermeneutics and, especially, post-structuralism and deconstruction. Comparison of Education in Britain and Estonia When looking into the educational systems of Britain and Estonia, several differences appear. In this essay I am going to point out some of the most distinguish features in the education of both countries. Firstly, there are dissimilarities in the age at which children go to school. In Estonia the age is 7 whereas in Britain children start their educational journey already as young as 5 years old. Primary school lasts 6 years just like in Estonia but the pupils in Britain are 2 years younger when they finish primary school than the pupils in Estonia. However, students in Britain and

Forth Bridge The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, to the east of the Forth Road Bridge, and 14 kilometres (9 mi) west of central Edinburgh. It is often called the Forth Rail Bridge or Forth Railway Bridge to distinguish it from the Forth Road Bridge. It was opened on 4 March 1890. The bridge connects Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, with Fife, leaving the Lothians at Dalmeny and arriving in Fife at North Queensferry; it acts as a major artery connecting the north-east and south-east of the country. Described in the Collins Encyclopaedia of Scotland as "the one immediately and internationally recognised Scottish landmark", it may be nominated by the British government to be added to the UNESCO World

He invested all his money into inventions to make men’s life a little easier. Tesla was born at the stroke of midnight between July 9th and 10th 1856. A fierce electrical storm raged that night. His father was an Orthodox priest. His mother accompanied by .one of the oldest Serbian families. In his boyhood he suffered from a peculiar reflection due to the appearance of images often descended from strong flashes of light. He was unable to distinguish whether what he saw was tangible or not. He pictured the Niagara in his imagination as a big wheel run by the Nature. In his room he could hear the ticking of a watch with 3 rooms between him and the timepiece. A carriage passed in a distance of a few miles fairly shacked his whole body The whistle of a distant locomotive vibrates so strongly in his ears that the pain was unbearable “The progressive development of man is vitally dependent on invention. A typical family in Europe or USA throws away more than 1 tonne of rubbish each year, but we can recycle most of this. If we recycle things, we can save money, energy and natural resources. In conclusion, there are still many other minor problems, but we are able to improve the enviroment. There is always tomorrow and then we have a chance to put our mind work and to do something good for our enviroment, even those things, which don't distinguish oneself at first, but may be very useful in the future.

He established the Company's headquarter Candler Building, which was the first building higher than a steeple in Atlanta. The Coca-Cola bottle, called the "contour bottle" within the company, was created by bottle designer Earl.R.Dean. In 1915, the Coca-Cola Company launched a competition among its bottle suppliers to create a new bottle for their beverage that would distinguish it from other beverage bottles, "a bottle which a person could recognize even if they felt it in the dark, and so shaped that, even if broken, a person could tell at a glance what it was." At first, Dean's prototype never made it to production, because its middle diameter was larger than its base, making it unstable on conveyor belts. Dean resolved this issue by decreasing the bottle's middle diameter.

The importance of planning The term is used in current speech to describe widely different types of economic reforms. It is necessary to distinguish between: a) Planning, meaning simply the intervention of the Government in a particulat industry at a time when the greater part of the economy still remains in private hands, and b) Planning which results in the general supersession of individual enterprise as the source of economic decisions. Summary The issue of planning prompted some of the fiercest debate in mid-twentieth century economics
the actual physical articulation of speech sounds The phoneme. Phoneme is a meaning distinguishing sound in a language; it functions contrastively/ the smallest contrastive unit in the sound system of a language. When there is a contrast in identical environment we must be dealing with separate phonemes - when we replace one sound with another, we get another word with another meaning, therefore that sound must be a phoneme. There are small shades of sounds that don't distinguish meaning phones. The different phones that are the realisations of the same phoneme are called allophones. Allophones - are the actual pronunciations of phonemes in different environments. Complementary distribution phonetic units that never occur in the same environment are said to be in complementary distribution. For example, clear/l/ and dark/l/. NB! The sounds we produce and hear are continuous: we move our organs of

As technology developed, people started making instruments with shorter telescopes
Logic helps us in constructing and evaluating arguments. How to recognize an argument? Generally a passage contains an argument if it attemps to prove something. It requires evidence presented (premise(s)) and a claim that is said to follow from the alleged evidence (conclusion). This inferential relationship might be explicit or implicit. The relationship between the premises and the conclusion might be explicitly expressed thanks to words that serve as indicators to distinguish the premises from the conclusion. Conclusion indicators Swans are birds and birds have wings. Therefore, swans must have wings. The word “Therefore” indicates the conclusion which are claimed to follow from the premises. Other conclusion indicators include: - consequently - thus - so - hence - it follows that - it implies that - we may infer that - etc. Premise(s) indicators Swans must have wings, since they are birds and birds do have wings.

fresh difficulties when England and Scotland were united under one ruler, James I (16031625). Religiously inspired revolts and rebellions followed, in which, indeed, one king, Charles I (16251649) lost his life, and his son James II lost his crown and fled to France (16851688). Some of these conflicts were between Protestants and Catholics; others were between different branches of Protestantism. Swift does not clearly distinguish between these different kinds of religious strife. Swift has his Lilliputian informant blame the "civil commotions" on the propaganda of the Emperor of Blefuscu, i.e. the King of France; this primarily reflects the encouragement given by King Louis XIV of France to James II in pursuit of his policies to advance the toleration of Catholicism in Great Britain. He adds that "when (the commotions) were quelled, the (BigEndian) exiles always fled for refuge to that empire (Blefuscu/France)"

WILL BE + ING (WILL BE GOING) The future continuous refers to an unfinished action or event that will be in progress at a time later than now. It is used: 1)To project ourselves into the future and see something happening: This time next week I will be sun-bathing in Bali. 2)To refer to actions/events that will happen in the normal course of events: I'll be seeing Jim at the conference next week. 3)In the interrogative form, especially with 'you', to distinguish between a simple request for information and an invitation: Will you be coming to the party tonight? Dashwood and half-sisters Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret to the status of mere visitors. Fanny's brother, Edward Ferrars, visits Norland for several weeks and develops a strong attachment to Elinor Dashwood. Edward is the eldest son of a man who died very rich; now his entire fate depends upon his mother's will. Although he is shy and not particularly handsome, he has an open, affectionate heart. His mother and sister want him to distinguish himself and earn prestige, but Edward is a simple man, who longs only for domestic comfort. In her discussions with her mother and her older sister, Marianne Dashwood expresses her disappointment that Edward is not a more striking, artistic, poetic man. She can tell that Elinor has feelings for Edward but becomes frustrated when Elinor concedes only that she "likes" and "esteems" him; Marianne longs to hear her sister profess her passionate devotion.
lovely. The seabirds are screaming with joy, as they are flying high in the sky. The only thing worth noticing in this stanza is the word "scream'd" ("The sea-birds scream'd as they wheel'd round, / And there was joyaunce in their sound."), which would normally not be used if the tone is calm and lovely, but on the other hand, screaming does most closely describe the sound sea gulls and other such birds make. In the next stanza, Southey uses contrast to distinguish the bell from the surrounding ocean. The buoy on which the bell stands on, seems like a darker speck on the smooth water surface. It stands out so clearly that it catches the eye of Sir Ralph the Rover. Next, the mood of the Rover is expressed. It is stated that his heart was filled with joy for spring, he whistled and sung, but his joy was wicked he was happy because he had seen the bell and planned on doing something bad.
which is used to screen symptomatic patients for canine hyperadrenocorticism.[1,2] The (Cort:Crt)u ratio tests for the presence or absence of urinary cortisol excretion and is noninvasive and inexpensive. It also has a high diagnostic sensitivity, which means that a negative result strongly indicates that the patient most likely does not have the disease.[1,2] Urinary cortisol excretion can be caused by both pathologic and physiologic processes, however, and the test cannot distinguish between the two. Therefore, the (Crt:Crt)u test is not a confirmatory test as it has poor specificity, which means there are many false positives. If a patient tests positive, additional tests are required to definitively diagnose hyperadrenocorticism. Diagnostic tests Diagnostic tests are often performed to establish a diagnosis or differentiate between two diagnoses in symptomatic patients. Since the goal is to definitively identify a specific disease

Intragenomic Profiling Using Multicopy Genes: The rDNA Internal Transcribed Spacer Sequences of the Freshwater Sponge Ephydatia fluviatilis Liisi Karlep, To~nu Reintamm, Merike Kelve* Department of Gene Technology, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn, Estonia Abstract Multicopy genes, like ribosomal RNA genes (rDNA), are widely used to describe and distinguish individuals. Despite concerted evolution that homogenizes a large number of rDNA gene copies, the presence of different gene variants within a genome has been reported. Characterization of an organism by defining every single variant of tens to thousands of rDNA repeat units present in a eukaryotic genome would be quite unreasonable. Here we provide an alternative approach for the
Britsh government. Many people refer to the inhabitants of the British isles as 'the English', but England is only one of the countries. The other countries are Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Great britan is the name of the one island which is made up of Scotland, England and Wales. It is calles Great because in some languages the word for Britain is the same as the word for Brittany, which is in France. The word 'Great' helps to distinguish the two: 'Grande Bretange' = Great Britain, 'Bretagne' = Brittany. Climate Britain has a variable climate. The weather changes so frequently that it is difficult to frecast. It is not unusual fo people to complain that the weathermen were wrong. Fortunately, as Britain does not experience extreme weather conditions, it is never very cold or very hot. The temperature rarely rises above 32°C in summer, or falls below -10°C in winter.

A book is a set or collection of written, printed, illustrated, or blank sheets, made of paper, parchment, or other various material, usually fastened together to hinge at one side. A single sheet within a book is called a leaf, and each side of a leaf is called a page. A book produced in electronic format is known as an electronic book (e-book). Books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work. In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals such as magazines, journals or newspaper. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (e.g. biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, etc.). A lover of books is usually referred to as a bibliophile, or, more informally, a bookworm. A store where books are bought and sold is a bookstore or bookshop. Books can also be borrowed from libraries.

It means that civil service needs very competent managers. The problem in pay-for performance is largely in lack of measuring and documenting performance so it would be accurate and complete. Since there are no agreement on standards, indicators, measurement of performance to assess civil servants, the process is very messy and understandable. Consternating on private sector has made it even more
