Kättesaadav: https://inimareng.ee/pohisonumid-eesti-randeajastul/ - Mida tähendab mõiste „hargmaisus“? Kuidas väljendub hargmaisus tänapäevases Eestis? Milliseid probleeme ja ka uusi võimalusi see ühiskonnale endaga kaasa toob? Hargmaisus on inimeste ja ettevõtete ränne, nimelt nende tegevus mitmes riigis. Rändel on üks tunnusjoon: see on tõmme heaolu poole. Inimesed rändavad küll erinevatel põhjustel, olgu see töötamine, perega seotud tegurid, õppimine või põge- nemine tagakiusamise eest, kuid minnakse riikidesse, kus elu on parem. Eesti on pagulast...

He said it had started raining heavily when he left work (is wrong because it means it was already raining when he left work) He said it started raining heavily when he left work (is the best version because it is accurate, short, and there is no confusion because of the time context) Generally speaking, the past simple and continuous don't always need to be changed if: there is a time context which makes everything clear, and/or there is another action already using the past perfect, which might alter the meaning or make things confusing. Time and place references Time and place references often have to change: now then today that day here there this that this week that week

A letter to host family

To this end, I think spending a year abroad would be particularly interesting. My first language is, of course, Estonian, but I am also fluent in English. I started learning English in primary school at 3 grade and by watching movies I have improved my vocabulary a lot. I speak an intermediate level of Russian. I began learning it in fifth grade and all in all, I have learnt Russian for 6 years. I am nevertheless aware that learning a language within a classroom context is by itself, incomplete. So, in order to really be at ease in English, I feel that a cultural immersion would do me a lot of good. Through my language teachers, (whom are Estonians) I have learnt a lot about the life in America. Hence my desire to have first-hand experience of American life. I am particularly interested in experiencing family life in America, since it offers a cultural context that is undoubtedly different from mine. For this reason, I would very much like to find a nice

What is performance?

 Investigate what the object does, his interaction with other objects and beings, how it relates to other objects or beings  Performances exist only as actions, interactions and relationships  Restored behaviour or the “twice behaved behaviours”  Key process of performance  All behaviour consist of bits of previously behaved behaviour  Marked, framed, heightened  Something “is” a performance when historical and social context, convention, usage and tradition says it is  Make-believe performances maintain a clearly marked boundary between the world of the performance and everyday reality (children playing, actors on stage)  Make-belief performances intentionally blur or sabotage that boundary (everyday life, public figures)

Various acoustic properties of speech such as tone, pitch and accent, collectively known as prosody, can all give off nonverbal cues. Paralanguage may change the meaning of words The voice set is the context in which the speaker is speaking. This can include: the situation, gender, mood, age and a person's culture. The voice qualities are volume, pitch, tempo, rhythm, articulation, resonance, nasality, and accent. Characterizers are emotions expressed while speaking, such as laughing, crying, and yawning. Most definitions of the term specify that automobiles are designed to run primarily on roads, to have seating for one to eight people, to typically have four wheels, and to be constructed principally for the transport of people rather than goods. The term motorcar has also been used in the context of electrified rail systems to denote a car which functions as a small locomotive but also provides space for passengers and baggage. These locomotive cars were often used on suburban routes by both interurban and intercity railroad systems. There are approximately 600 million passenger cars worldwide (roughly one car per eleven people). Around the world, there were about 806 million cars and light trucks on the road in

Identity as a personal project

“particular” “narrative” “going”. Like every story, my one has to be special, individual. The one I designed by myself and for myself. I find, that my own narrative was built with help of my family and friends – that’s what adds individual traits. I learned from my parents our family culture and from my friends rules of communication. In my opinion, these are groups what influenced my behaviour at the start. The “narrative” means the context. Sociocultural and physical, the one I live in. Its my country, my language, my work and my hobbies – everything what makes me feel. Also for me in my narrative is very important to get experience, to build a concept of me and my identity. Word “going” means for me, that it´s a process. Like every process, mine has semi-starts (attempts) and semi-finishes (achieved goals). During this process, my identity is changing, improving and I think the most important in this process

Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text

Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text The Summary is based on the text taken from the Journal `The News letter' written by David Cranmer. Principal among the reasons is the obvious one that once the extensive context is understood, it is easier to concentrate on the detail of individual words. Large-scale vocabulary building is, in general terms, therefore better done after the text has been presented. (Cranmer 1986:60) Another important reason is that it is possible at this stage to exploit the new lexis in its own right, not just as a means comprehension, If we are to bring new vocabulary into active use and not just passive understanding, it is not sufficient for us just to teach it. It should be done

Connotation may be a permanent part of word meaning it is then called inherent connotation. Connotation is ever present when the word is used. Adherent connotation is the shade of meaning the word requires in a particular context only. Outside this context this shade of meaning is not present. INHERENT CONNOTATION (IC) 1. IC may be secured by the very object, quality or notion that word denotes. Positively charged words are: noble, manly, virtue, beauty, love, etc. Negatively charged words: nasty, vulgar, greedy, sin, death, fool, etc.). This connotation is called referential; it depends on the referent (mean the thing the word stands for). 2. IC may depend on the structure of the word

Denotation, Connotation Meaning has two vital elements, one is denotation (a direct reference, meaning proper) and the other, connotation (additional shade of meaning). Synonyms for connotation (overtone, colouring, charge). The majority of words have denotation only e.g tree, stone, to take, bag, window, etc. Connotation may be permanent part of the meaning of the word. Then it is called inherent (ever-present). Adherent (a shade of meaning the word acquires, develops in a particular context only), and outside this context this is not present. Is not uniform, on the one hand, words may carry emotional or expressive overtones e.g gorgeous = good where gorgeous is more emotional. On the other hand, words may contain evaluation (speaker's positive or negative attitude), e.g famous (pos.) = notorious (neg.) 4

Summary about Big Data

visual analytics“ the author gave extremely good overview about the challenges that come with big data. Author firstly brought out meeting the need for speed, meaning that you have to be quicker than your opponents. Secondly he brought out that undestanding the data is extremely important, not only the fact that one has to be fast. Nextly he discussed about addressing data quality – even if one can find the data quickly and put it in the proper context for the audience, the value of data will be jeopardized if the data is not accurate or timely. He continued with displaying meaningful results – people have a hard time understanding a graph that has 10 billion plotting points, so clustering data is one way to solve this. And lastly dealing with outliers – many analytics remove the outliers from the data. I conclued my presentation with some thoughts that I came across during the search for information

Why does Marx elevate proletariat? Do you see Wright doing the same? What do you think why?

Seemed to me, that Wright thought about other parties and societies as well and saw the whole thing from a much bigger perspective, which ultimately, makes him differ from Karl Marx. Wright also saw difference from the obedience relationship between classes, he distinguished domination and exploiting rather than just upper and lower class, which have very concrete aspects that define them. In my opinion, Wright did not think the same because he did see the society in a much larger context and bigger picture, whereas the middle class was dealing with life instead of revolutionizing, which inevitably causes inequality. Some people have business knowledge and others have skills, which necessarily makes one getting exploited by the other. What he wanted to say was, that the proletariat does not have to be against the upper class. All in all, I am more into Erik Olin Wright’s view rather than Marx’s. Unless there comes a time in

Estonian hero Kalev. Up to the 13th century the Scandinavians and Henry of Livonia in his chronicle called the town Lindanisa: Lyndanisse in Danish, Lindanäs in Swedish, also mentioned as Ledenets in Old East Slavic. According to some theories the name derived from mythical Linda, the wife of Kalev and the mother of Kalevipoeg. who in an Estonian legend carried rocks to her husband's grave that formed the Toompea hill. It has been also suggested that in the context the meaning of linda in the archaic Estonian language, that is similar to lidna in Votic, had the same meaning as linna or linn later on meaning a castle or town in English. According to the suggestion nisa would have had the same meaning as niemi (meaning peninsula in English) in an old Finnish form of the name Kesoniemi. After the Danish conquest in 1219 the town became known in the German, Swedish and Danish languages as Reval (Latin: Revalia). The name originated from (Latin)

vulnerabilities can be identified early in the product lifecycle [12]. For example encrypting data and having strong passwords, which are not as easy to bruteforce as for instance is to bruteforce a PIN code. ’’ Some researchers have proposed attribute based encryption method and access controls in cloud computing environments. However, a huge number of devices as a characteristic of IoT was not considered in the existing schemes. Through context extraction based on detection, data owner performs encryption and decryption. In decryption process, each user can decrypt only desired data. Therefore user can receive data in low overhead environment even though there are a large amount of device exists. In the end, access control using context has shown some benefit, but also needs more study about it. ’’ [13]. The issue of privacy should be tackled alongside, so that the devices do not collect and forward too much

Story about English Humor

They are absolutely innocently taking the advantage of other innocent people. Certainly we cannot talk about all disabled people from that point of view, but the exception affirms the rule. And in Britain, you can find a lot of exceptions. The second thing which also amused me was the humiliation of other people for unjustified reasons. The scene of a transsexual lady, feeling sick and puking in the teacup was a perfect example of humiliation in nowadays just in different context. It is a real problematic topic every single country and it only gets worse. Actually it is quite sad that people are only laughing at it, ignoring the problem whether they see it or not. But as to look from the other side then it is good that even if people haven't noticed it yet, then maybe the problem comes out from making fun of it? Maybe NOW people really notice that, yes, we have a problem here. And maybe that forces people to find solutions. But that's only my imaginary.

Doing so might cause her to skip a necessary step or avoid an entire process that could greatly simplify her life--and greatly increase her enthusiasm for your product. 5 Break the process down into small, easy-to-remember steps. Then present the steps in sequential order, from first to last, being sure that each step leads logically to the next. Be sure not to omit any important background information that will clarify the next step and place it into the proper context. 6 Write in plain, clear, simple language, and be sure the wording you use to write your manual is not ambiguous. If an instruction can be understood in more than one way, rewrite it until it becomes crystal clear precisely what you want the reader to do. 7 Test the manual on a sample group of subjects who fit the profile of the intended user group. Observe how easy or difficult it is for the group to complete the procedure for which the company has commissioned you to write this manual

Along with the blue gradient of course. These white circes are firstly shaped as circles. And circles, viewing from the far distance, may look like a star. Another thing is their color. When we view the sun for example, or just look at the sky in the night, we see white dots and we know, based on the physics class, that these are the stars. Therefore these white, circled dots are perceived as a stars in this context. - Orange lines are firstly orange because, again, it is this brands's one of the main color. And secondly, based on color theory it is the complementary color of the blue. It is suggested to use complementary colors, because they have the highest contrast therefore it is easly seen. They 'cancel' each other out, making same contrast as black and white colors. Complementary color schemes are believed to be aesthetically pleasing.

Squares of London

It is within the City of Westminster, and about equal distances (about 400 yards / 370 metres) north of Trafalgar Square, east of Piccadilly Circus, west of Covent Garden, and south of Cambridge Circus. Piccadilly Circus Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster, built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with the major shopping street of Piccadilly. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction. Piccadilly now links directly to the theatres on Shaftsbury Avenue, as well as the Haymarket, Coventry Street (onwards to Leicester Square), and Glasshouse Street. Kõne Briti majandusest inglise keeles

In 1998 compensation claims cost 6.8 billion pounds in Britain. That's a massive amount of money to pay. Let's put that number in context. If you are a sports fan, you could afford a 248-season contract for one of the most paid basketball players in the world, Lebron James. At that time it was eight times the budget, which was approved by the Estonian Government. So it was a heavy sum to pay. In Britain I think they can only blame themselves. You see, unlike many other nations, the UK has no single core constitutional document. In this sense, it is said not to have a written

Epic (ingl. k eepos)

The poet prays to the muses to provide him with divine inspiration to tell the story of a great hero. 3. Narrative opens in media res. This means "in the middle of things," usually with the hero at his lowest point. Earlier portions of the story appear later as flashbacks. 4. Catalogs and geneaologies are given. These long lists of objects, places, and people place the finite action of the epic within a broader, universal context. Oftentimes, the poet is also paying homage to the ancestors of audience members. 5. Main characters give extended formal speeches. 6. Use of the epic simile. A standard simile is a comparison using "like" or "as." An epic or Homeric simile is a more involved, ornate comparison, extended in great detail. 7. Heavy use of repetition and stock phrases. The poet repeats passages that consist of several

Entry ticket week 39 - Ave Nurmeots

 It is not enough anymore just to come up with an innovative product or its features. To achieve a bigger and more sustainable competitive advantage different types of innovations should be combined together. 2. Name an example of a company from the book, which has gone beyond product innovation –explain which of the 9 other types they have used?  I really liked the example of Microsoft reinventing integrated office tools. When I think about it in today’s context, it seems very logical – a lot of companies do that. But that must have been an amazing innovation for that time. They used: o Profit model – instead of paying for the different applications separately, they combined them into one package that the consumers can purchase for a cheaper price (compared to the total price of purchasing the applications separately).

You must have a plan of action to be followed. I advise you to start with learning Estonian language. Without language you do not have the opportunity to watch the news, read newspapers, communicate and be understood by the public. You are excluded from the cultural context of the country. Art Museum of Estonia

There are separate rooms in the palace that have been adjusted for arranging temporary exhibitions. The Baltic-German prints about the Kadriorg palace and park are displayed in a separate room. The engravings and lithographs with views of Kadriorg by the 19th-century masters like J. Hau, Th. Gehlhaar, L. H. Petersen and others make the visitors realize the historical significance of the palace ensemble and its importance in local cultural context. A collection of Estonian, Russian and English silver- and goldsmiths' works was added to the Kadriorg Art Museum's exhibition on the 8th of March in 2002. Silver Chamber is open during the opening hours of the museum (exept 13-14). Object-oriented programming.

One might say that a class is a blueprint or factory that describes the nature of something. For example, the class Dog would consist of traits shared by all dogs, such as breed and fur color (characteristics), and the ability to bark and sit (behaviors). Classes provide modularity and structure in an object-oriented computer program. A class should typically be recognizable to a non- programmer familiar with the problem domain, meaning that the characteristics of the class should make sense in context. Also, the code for a class should be relatively self-contained (generally using encapsulation). Collectively, the properties and methods defined by a class are called members. Object A pattern (exemplar) of a class. The class of Dog defines all possible dogs by listing the characteristics and behaviors they can have; the object Lassie is one particular dog, with particular versions of the characteristics. A Dog has fur; Lassie has brown- and-white fur. Method An object's abilities

Linna ja eluaseme sotsioloogia tekstide kokkuvõtted

1. Louis Wirth «Urbanism as a Way of Life» Oma uurimistöös Louis Wirth kirjeldas Chicago linnaelu ja linnastumisprotsessi.
