In 1998 compensation claims cost 6.8 billion pounds in Britain . That’s a massive amount of money to pay. Let’s put that number in context . If you are a sports fan, you could afford a 248- season contract for one of the most paid basketball players in the world, Lebron James. At that time it was eight times the budget , which was approved by the Estonian Government . So it was a heavy sum to pay. In Britain I think they can only blame themselves. You see, unlike many other nations, the UK has no single core constitutional document. In this sense, it is said not to have a written constitution, but much of the British constitution is embodied in written documents , within statues, court judgments and treaties. So in my opinion that’s a stupid system. Because if you watch other countries how much do they pay for compensation claims then it’s nothing.
Though in other countries there are huge sums what civilians get from companies . A former female police officer was awarded an estimated £1,000,000 in a package , after complaining of bullying and sexual and racial harassment. For instance I think it’s absolutely ridiculous to get a million for that. I think many people have suffered much more and would deserve much more. But that all concludes in people’s ego. It’s the side that people get greedy.
At that moment lawyers step into play. They have helped create a world in which dissatisfaction leads to blame. Most victims of legal harassment will settle with money in order to avoid a lengthy and expensive trial. The defendant, however vast they may become, will be carried by his or her lawyer , working for a share of the profits. The „ambulance chasing“ lawyers who are involved in this sort of legal chicanery get rich because when they win they can win simply billions. Innocent defendants know that they have a choice : they either spend years fighting the case or else they settle out of court. Many small businessmen have gone bust because they cannot afford the premiums they've been expected to pay. Public services have deteriorated still further as central and local governments are forced to spend an increasing amount of money and time fighting or settling legal battles brought by people who have seen a small piece of misfortune as an opportunity to get rich quick.
Definitely you can’t forget to mention the most normal people from whom comes out greedy evil geniuses, who cleverly defraud companies/governments. Naturally, many people have sought to get rich quickly without having to undergo the pain and inconvenience of an accident . Others have found ways to find someone else to blame for an accident for which they were responsible. For example, one man received a payout of £238,000 in compensation from his local council after that he had broken his ankle in a pot hole. I mean how much more stupid can the justice systems get, unbelievable.
In conclusion, I think that the world has gone completely mad with those compensations. I would put it on the conscience of the greedy lawyers who wisely get the money out of the courts and bigger percentage to themselves. Honour to them but that still doesn’t make it right. Or maybe the laws aren’t so perfect after all. But there isn’t any clear solutions to it. Maybe to develop a new kind of legal system, desirably the perfect one. Therefore I would leave you with one statement :
“There has always been, there is and always will be holes in the constitutional laws.”
