in Japan

Air pollution
➢ The presence of toxic chemicals  or
compounds ( including  those of
biological  origin) in the air, at levels
that  pose  a health risk.
➢ The  effects  of air pollution is global
warming , heart problems, acid  rains
etc.
➢  There  are  solutions  like public
transport, cleaning smokestacks,
laws , renewable  sources ,
The history
➢  Industrial   activity  in Japan devoloped
rapidly after the World War II.
➢ People became  really  sick and  described
it as more horrible suffering   than  death.
➢ In the 1970s Japan managed  to clean up
without  sacrificing  growth  by investing
in pollution-control technologies.
➢ They made new laws. It was the start of
“Japan’s Pollution Diet”.
➢  Today , Japanese cities are  among  the
world’s least polluted, according to the
World Health Organization.
Air pollution in Japan
➢ The air pollution is  different  in different
seasons.
➢  During  the  winter  air pollution in Japan is
particularly  bad  since  the polluted air  comes
not only from industrial and  vehicle
emissions  within Japan, but also from
polluted air masses that are derived from
China .
➢ In the  spring , the wind regime in Japan
becomes less dominated by air masses
blown in from China and thus air pollution in
Japan  begins  to drop in most  areas , except
in the  Kanto  Plain  district .
Air pollution in Japan
➢ There is normally low to  medium
levels of air pollution in Japan in the
summerHowever , if there's no wind,
you're likely to get a  build  up of smog
if you're  located  in a valley.
➢ During  autumn , air pollution in Japan
begins to increase as winter
approaches. Sea breezes become less
common with each  passing  week in
autumn.

Thoughts on Air Pollution Essay

Air pollution Every day, the average person inhales about 20,000 liters of air. Every time we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous chemicals that have found their way into the air. Air pollution includes all contaminants found in the atmosphere. These dangerous substances can be either in the form of gases or particles. Air pollution can be found both outdoors and indoors. Pollutants can be trapped inside buildings, causing indoor pollution that lasts for a long time. The sources of air pollution are both natural and human-based. As one might expect, humans have been producing increasing amounts of pollution as time has progressed, and they now account for the majority of pollutants released into the air. Air pollution has been a problem throughout history. Even in Ancient Romepeople complained about smoke put into the atmosphere. The effects of air pollution are diverse and numerous. Air pollution can have serious consequences

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

However, as our environment changes, so does the need to become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution. While water pollution is caused by oil spill, acid rain, urban runoff; air pollution is caused by various gases and toxins released by industries and factories and burning of fossil fuels; soil pollution is majorly caused by industrial waste that deprives soil from essential nutrients.

Nuclear power plants have experienced an admirable safety record. About 20% of electricity generated in the U.S. comes from nuclear power, and in the last forty years of this production, not one single fatality has occurred as a result of the operation of a civilian nuclear power plant in the United States. In comparison, many people die in coal mining accidents every year and approximately ten thousand Americans die every year from pollution related to coal burning. The nuclear power industry generates approximately 2,000 tons of solid waste annually in the United States. In comparison, coal fuelled power plants produce 100,000,000 tons of ash and sludge annually, and this ash is laced with poisons such as mercury and nitric oxide. Even this 2,000 tons of nuclear waste is not a technical problem. Reprocessing of nuclear fuel, and the implementation of Integral Fast Reactor technology, will enable us to turn the vast majority of

Acid Rain

Acid rain and the dry deposition of acidic particles contribute to the corrosion of metals (such as bronze) and the deterioration of paint and stone (such as marble and limestone). These effects significantly reduce the societal value of buildings, bridges, cultural objects (such as statues, monuments, and tombstones), and cars. Famous buildings like the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Taj Mahal in India and St. Paul's Cathedral in London have all been damaged by this sort of air pollution. Acid rain can also damage stained glass windows in churches, railway lines and steel bridges. The acid rain slowly eats away them all. Building materials crumble away, metals are corroded, the colour of paint is spoiled, leather is weakened and crusts form on the surface of glass. Economic effects Acid rain causes more acidic water, which might kill the fishes. This would effect the fisherman, who would not get enough money, therefore less money would be spend and economy would be affected

Water pollution Attention for water pollution exploded in the 1980s. The oil spill of the Exxon Valdez showed many around the world just how horrible the effects of water pollution could be. However, even the Exxon Valdez spill barely touched the surface of the problem of water pollution. The ship spilt only 5% of the oil spilt that year, and oil is just one of many pollutants that people dump into the water every year. Every year, 14 billions pounds of sewage, sludge, and garbage are dumped into the world's oceans. 19 trillion gallons of waste also enter the water annually. The problem of ocean pollution affects every nation around the world. This is especially true because water is able to transport pollution from one location to another.

release heat at night, when the heat is needed most. This passive solar design feature is called direct gain. Development, deployment and economics The 1973 oil embargo and 1979 energy crisis caused a reorganization of energy policies around the world and brought renewed attention to developing solar technologies. Deployment strategies focused on incentive programs such as the Federal Photovoltaic Utilization Program in the US and the Sunshine Program in Japan. Other efforts included the formation of research facilities in the US (SERI, now NREL), Japan (NEDO), and Germany (Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE). Commercial concentrating solar power (CSP) plants were first developed in the 1980s. CSP plants such as SEGS project in the United States have a LEC of 1214 ¢/kWh.[139] The 11 MW PS10 power tower in Spain, completed in late 2005, is Europe's first commercial CSP system, and a total
