Katherine Mansfield

fragile and insecure young woman. All at once she starts to perceive her role in this complex world. Moreover, she begins to wonder over the values and delusions, which are of great importance in life. Throughout the story it stands to reason that she is trying to establish her true self, even though she is steadily influenced by her family, especially by her mother. On account of her constant questionings she finally evolves into an individual, who is capable of distinguishing essential truths of life from unimportant ones, however she still remains to be uncertain, which may indicate that her discoveries are not all-encompassing in nature and may fade away from the memory. From the very beginning it is evident that Laura is a young lady, who tries to learn how to establish herself. During that process she has to step out of her comfort zone for several times. She is often afraid of looking silly or simply weird. As well as, she constantly questions how she should behave

La Celestina Ejercicio de Traducción

( ° Denotes translations taken from Finch) 2 Literary Translation (that I would write in a book which keeps the spirit of Rojas) It's easy to see, Parmeno, that Calisto is lovesick. You shouldn't blame him for succumbing to such a strong force; true love conquers all. And you should, know, if you don't already, that there are two universal truths about love. First, is that it is in man's nature to love a woman, and in women's to love a man. Secondly, those who are truly in love must be driven mad by the force of the erotic fantasies that come so naturally, which God gave us in order for humanity to continue; we would perish without this driving force. Literary Translation (even more evolved, that way I would speak) Calisto is obviously falling for her Parmeno

Martin Luther King

First of all, I will gonna tell you about his biography, about his early years, private life, how he lived and what education he had. After I would like to tell about his role in the advancement of civil rights and generally his career as a activist and orator. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin, Jr., was a middle child. At the age of 13 King was skeptical of many of Christianity's claims. However, he later concluded that the Bible has "many profound truths which one cannot escape" and decided to enter the seminary. King was very precocious student, he skipped both the ninth and the twelfth grades and entered Morehouse College at age fifteen without formally graduating from high school. He had degree of sociology. King married Coretta Scott, on June 18, 1953, they became the parents of four children. During their marriage, King limited Coretta's role in the civil rights movement, and expected her to be a housewife.

The Life of Dante, the Inferno of Dante

Pound sees the Inferno as a satire on man's aimless turmoil and restlessness that continues to the root of Hell where it finds its end at the gate of Purgatory. Dante is represented as truth, intelligence, and love, and Pound generates a positive portrayal of Dante's work. Tate, Maritain, and Pound give insightful and pertinent observations of the Inferno, however, one major aspect, which was overlooked in their critiques, was the theological truths Dante uncovered on his imaginary journey through Hell. The reality of God, the Creator's love and man's choice is evidenced throughout the Inferno. On this spiritual pilgrimage, Dante has lost his way and tries to get back on the right path to gain salvation, but many temptations are faced along the way. Dante uses allegory in his story to depict these temptations or sin. In the dark wood he encounters a leopard, lion, and a she-wolf.

Priorities of Estonian History

It is apparent that partiality has leaked into much historical writing over the centuries. Does that nullify the histories? Siobhan Kattago has advocated for pluralism in politics and historical interpretation. She wrote that mankind must recognize, tolerate, and even respect different understandings of history. We must find points of common interest, yet respect cultural differences. She suggested that it is possible for two or more right versions of history, multiple truths, to exist side by side, at least to the point that we can recognize them as valid viewpoints.3 In my opinion, attaining this evenhanded analysis of the past is one of the main priorities of Estonian historical research. Historians must take a balanced look at all the sources, considering others' points of view. Indeed, this is essential to historiography in general, that historians remove themselves from their own passions and narrow outlooks to see things the

What does Hume think about general abstract ideas? Why? “There is no such thing as abstract or general ideas, properly speaking”. 18. According to Hume, what is the difference between relations of ideas and matters of fact? Matters of fact are the more common truths we learn through our experiences. Mathematical propositions assert relations between ideas, and ideas only. The truth of a mathematical proposition is independent of questions about existence. 19. What does Hume think about the notion of cause-effect? We understand matters of fact according to causation. The notion of cause-effect is a complex idea that is made up of three more foundational ideas: priority in time, proximity in space, and necessary connection. 20

Science as a body of knowledge Science is the collection of results and ‘facts’ that we know. Science discovers new truths and increases our knowledge. However, part of this body will probably be proved to be mistaken in the future. Therefore, it is better to define science in terms of methods rather than in terms of results. 3. The Origins of American Literature

The transcendentalists were, for instance, among the early advocates of the enfranchisement of women. Ultimately, despite these practical manifestations, transcendentalism was an epistemology, a way of knowing, and the ultimate characteristics which tied together the frequently contradictory beliefs of the loosely formed group called "The Transcendentalists" was the belief that man can intuitively transcend the limits of the senses and of logic and receive directly higher truths and greater knowledge denied to the mundane methods of knowing. Among the most famous of the transcendental leaders, in addition to Emerson, Thoreau and Alcott were Margaret Fuller, George Ripley, F.H. Hedge, James Freeman Clark, Elizabeth Peabody, Theodore Parker, Jones Very, and W.H. Channing. But the arch-advocates in literature of most that the transcendentalists stood for were Emerson and Thoreau; and the two documents which most definitely give literary expression to

voice, the two engaging in a subtle rivalry with each other.” The voice tone is very important in Larkin’s poetry, because almost all his poems have a deliberate orality that ends up conforming, because we have seen in commented poems, the same structure of text. Peter Levi said that he had never heard Larkin read his own poems, but the voice in them is so perfectly conveyed that one knows exactly how they should go. In order to arrive at his own truths, Larkin locates itself in the perspective of the reader, of the man (more or less) current, and he shows all the way to him as if this (with more or less effort) also could cross it. Suddenly he appears, with his voice unmistakable, and narrates us all the experience that ends at the epiphanies, the revelations, and epigrams. As Booth says: Larkin presents himself in his poems as “a vivid and actual being who is the

Being Millian certainly implies being rigid. But the reverse does not hold. Although Kripke cites Mill and argues that names are rigid, rigidity does not imply being Millian. For definite descriptions can be rigid. Suppose we fall in with the prevalent view that arithmetical truths are all necessary truths. Then there are arithmetical descriptions, such as "the positive square root of nine," that are rigid, because they designate the same number in every possible world, but are certainly not Millian because in order to secure their reference they exploit their conceptual content. Indeed, they seem to Russellize: "The positive square root of nine" seems to mean whatever positive number yields nine when multiplied by itself. So that description is not Millian even though

If you believe only your religion is the Truth, you are using it in the service of the ego. used in such a way, religion becomes ideology and creates an illusory sense of superiority as well as division and conflict between people. In the service of the Truth, religious teachings represent signposts or maps left behind by awakened humans to assist you in spiritual awakening, that is to say, in becoming free of identification with form. There is only one absolute Truth, and all other truths emanate from it. When you find that Truth, your actions will be in alignment with it. Human action can reflect the Truth, or it can reflect illusion. Can the Truth be put into words? Yes, but the words are, of course, not it. They only point to it. The Truth is inseparable from who you are. Yes, you are the truth. If you look for it elsewhere, you will be deceived every time. The very Being that you are is Truth.
