Suggested improvements to shop

To: Clara Philipp From: .................. Subject: Suggested improvements to shop Date: 1st April 2011 Introduction The purpose of this report is to make recommendations for possible improvements in the shop. Advertising To begin with, it would be a good idea to think about buying advertising space on local television stations or radio stations. Moreover, we should distribute flyers around our local community, newspaper inserts or on community bulletin boards. In this way the public knows that our shop exists and we will have larger circle of customers.

Report: Suggested improvements to the shop

To: Tim Burton From: Ester Kängsepp Subject: Suggested improvements to the shop Date: 28th Feb 2013 1) Purpose The purpose of this report is to suggest ways to make the shop more profitable. 2) Shop condition The shop condition is at this moment very bad. Shop has lost many customers and it has changed a lot lately- has become not so attractive like it used to be and income has decreased because of that. Firstly, it would be a good idea to make some flayers about the shop’s planned changes. 3) Shop’s apperance Secondly, I think it would be useful to refresh shop’s appearance. Paint it all over again and redecorate the interior. Customers would like that and it will invite new people to the shop. 4) Increasing the shop’s income Finally, we could organize market days, when the prices are low and there are a lot of different goods. This is the way, how to get people to the shop and it will increase the income and pro...

Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) west of Amesbury and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of Salisbury. One of the most famous prehistoric sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. Archaeologists had believed that the iconic stone monument was erected around 2500 BC, as described in the chronology below. However one recent theory has suggested that the first stones were not erected until 2400-2200 BC,[1] whilst another suggests that bluestones may have been erected at the site as early as 3000 BC (see phase 1 below). The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. The site and its surroundings were added to the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1986 in a co-listing with Avebury henge monument, and it is also a legally protected Scheduled

The Most Exciting Holiday of My Life

with my family and with aunt and her husband. We were in a nice hotel near the beach. The second day I wanted to go shopping in the city but my parents disagreed. They suggested that we should go sightseeing. At last we found that we could go walk in the beach where also were many shops. But it was miles away, so we had to rent a car. We could rent a car from our hotel's reception. Unfortunately we were told that all cars were hired out. Then my parents suggested to spend the day swimming in a hotel pool, but I didn't feel spending my day like this. We found a place to hire cars near the hotel. The only available car was Citroën C1. This was really small, but our only choice. We fitted ourselves very uncomfortably in this little car and drove to that city. It was so refreshing to get out. I ran to the shops and bought as many pretty things as I could. After some time, I saw that I had lost my companitons

Tallinn

Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and also the largest city in the country. It occupies an area of 159.2 km2 (61.5 sq mi) with a population of 411,196. During different periods, the city has been known under several different names. In 1154 a town called Qlwn or Qalaven (possible derivations of Kalevan or Kolyvan) was put on the world map of the Almoravid by cartographer Muhammad al-Idrisi who described it as a small town like a large castle among the towns of Astlanda. It has been suggested that the Quwri in Astlanda may have denoted the predecessor town of today's Tallinn. The earliest name Kolyvan may be derived from the mythical Estonian hero Kalev. Up to the 13th century the Scandinavians and Henry of Livonia in his chronicle called the town Lindanisa: Lyndanisse in Danish, Lindanäs in Swedish, also mentioned as Ledenets in Old East Slavic. According to some theories the name derived from mythical Linda, the wife of Kalev and the mother of Kalevipoeg. who in an Estonian

Halloweeni jutt

" Suddenly, a zombie jumped from behind the bush! The zombie shouted, "Boo! Guess who!" Ben knew who it was and said, "John, you silly thing. You scared me! Where have you been all this time?" Laughing, John said, "Sorry I'm late, but there was a problem with my costume. Let's go trick or treating. There'll be no candy left for us if we wait any longer." "That's okay," Ben said. "Let's get started." Ben suggested they go east first. Several houses looked promising that way, and Ben remembered that the folks in one particular house gave out great candy and were fun to visit. ." Their hearts still pounding a little, Ben and John walked along the street. The first house they came to was creepy- looking. A long sidewalk lead up to a front porch. In the moonlight, the house looked deserted

Animals we miss today

*Habitat loss: Is considered to be the main cause for animal extinction. Humans are clearing our forests for wood and timber. The foodchain is disturbed and animals will die. *Wildlife trade: Poaching and wildlife trade are another common threat to animals. International wildlife trade has also been linked to drugs trade. The most common anilmal trade is pet trade, such as orangutangs. Animals are also killed for fur(tigers, leopards, cheetahs) *Climate change: It has been recently suggested that warmer global temperatures may be affecting animals. In fact, it has been suggested that the golden toad became extinct because of the warmer climate. The Animals *T-REX: Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest land carnivores of all time. His weight was about 7 tons.He had a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Fossils of T. rex have been found in North American rock formations. More than 30 specimens of T. rex have been identified, some of which are nearly complete skeletons

Pessimism vs optimism

famine and disease. A PESSIMISTIC approach  Thomas Malthus (1798) proposed his work during the early stages of the industrial revolution when inadequate food and clothing were common features in England.  His argument was that population increases (geometrically) or at an exponential rate if unchecked i.e. 1-2-4-8- 16-32 etc  Food supply at best increases at an arithmetic rate i.e.1-2-3-4-5-6 etc A PESSIMISTIC approach  Malthus suggested that a rise in population, however small, would mean that eventually population growth exceeded increases in food supply and that yields from a given field could not go on increasing forever and that the land available is finite.  He believed the population-resource balance was maintained by various ‘checks’: Negative (preventative) checks are methods of limiting population growth:e.g. celibacy, delaying marriage which lower fertility rates

I would really like to see you again and it would be very great if you came to see me in August, but unfortunately I have a really important soccer match during that week and I can not miss that so maybe you could come the week before or after. Please let me know as soon as possible because my mum wants to know so she and my father will probably plan a trip to somewhere in order for us to be all alone in the house. My bike actually broke so unfortunately we can’t go cycling but my dad suggested that perhaps we go canoeing. It sounds very fun to me so maybe if you’re intrested we could go try that, but it’s totally OK if you don’t want to, just let me know. So let me know when you could come and if you’re up for canoeing. I’ll be waiting for your reply. Best wishes, Alex

My Super car - Ford Mustang

My supercar Ford Mustang My supercar is Ford Mustang. The Ford Mustang is an automobile manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. It was initially based on the Ford Falcon. Production began in Dearborn, Michigan on 9 March 1964 and the car was introduced to the public on 17 April 1964 at the New York World's Fair. It was Ford's most successful launch. Leading stylist John Najjar, who was a fan of the World War II Mustang fighter plane, suggested the name. The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American automobile sports car sedans with long hoods and short rear ends, gave rise to competitors such as GM's Camaro , AMC's Javelin, and Chrysler's. Mustangs grew larger and heavier with each model. Although some other pony cars have seen a survival, the Mustang is the only original pony car that has remained in production without interruption after fourty years of development and development.

The survey has been conducted among our class students. Canteen Firstly, the canteen`s food prices are too low and service is very slow. Savanna

maintained by anthropogenic fire. These fires are usually confined to the herbaceous layer and do little long term damage to mature trees. However, these fires do serve to either kill or suppress tree seedlings, thus preventing the establishment of a continuous tree canopy which would prevent further grass growth. Prior to European settlement aboriginal land use practices, including fire, influenced vegetation and may have maintained and modified savanna flora. It has been suggested by many authors that aboriginal burning created a structurally more open savanna landscape. Aboriginal burning certainly created a habitat mosaic that probably increased biodiversity and changed the structure of woodlands and geographic range of numerous woodland species. It has been suggested by many authors that with the removal or alteration of traditional burning regimes many savannas are being replaced by forest and shrub thickets with little herbaceous layer.

German Federal Election, 2009

German federal election, 2009 On the 27th of December, germans went to the polls in parliamentary elections. It was a vote that would decide the shape of the German parliament. The opinion polls before the elections suggested that Angelina Merkel would keep the top job and she did. The Christian Democrats won with 33% of the votes. The Christian Democratic Union, the Christian Social Union of Bavaria, and the Free Democratic Party have announced their intention to form a centre-right government with Angela Merkel continuing as the Chancellor. It is said that Angelina Merkel is the biggest poker face in German politics. In her four years as chancellor she has outmanouvered her opponents and become the country's most popular politician and as the German economy is recovering from recession, the people see her as a safe pair of hands. With Angela Merkel as popular as she is, you might think that the result is a for gone conclusion,...

On June 8 2004, Venus passed directly between the Earth and the Sun, appearing as a large black dot travelling across the Sun's disk. This event is known as a "transit of Venus" and is very rare: the last one was in 1882, the next one is in 2012 but after than you'll have to wait until 2117. Venus orbits the Sun at an average distance of about 108 million km, and rotates once every 243 days. Studies have suggested that several billion years ago Venus's atmosphere was much more like Earth's than it is now, and that there were probably substantial quantities of liquid water on the surface.

clericalism got him in trouble with the authorities until he was finally deported. He was prompted to return to Italy once again when his mother became ill. He became a journalist for the socialist newspaper, Avanti! (Forward!).After initially writing on numerous occasions against the war in the socialist paper Avanti, Mussolini relented and he and his class were called up in August of 1915 for active duty. Although his military record was unremarkable, it was without blemish and it has been suggested that he may have been prevented from moving further along in the ranks due to his ongoing political agitation in various periodicals. Mussolini was first married to Ida Dalser in Trento in 1914.. The couple had a son, Benito Albino, one year later. In December 1915, Mussolini married Rachele Guidi, his mistress since 1910, and with his following political ascendency the information about his first marriage was suppressed and both, his first wife and son were later persecuted .With Rachele,

excuse that if he can`t have a partner, then his creator can`t. Victor swore vengeance and he started to follow the creature in order to kill him. The creature escaped to the North Pole and that’s how Victor got to the vessel. Victor got very ill and eventually he died. I quite liked the novel, altough it was hard to read. It’s a tragic and a sad book about a creature who had no purpose in life. The book was suggested to me by my brother, who had the oppurtunity to listen it in audio version. I would recommend it to everybody who enjoys science fiction and tragic books.

Kaali meteorite crater Eighteen kilometers from Kuressaare towards Kuivastu is the location of Estonia's most unique geological object, Kaali lake. The meteoric origin of the lake basin was first suggested by J. Kalkun-Kaljuvee in 1922. The crater walls are covered with trees and vegetation. A path around the rim of the crater allows you to observe it from all sides. The water level of the lake changes with the seasons, as you can see from the photos below. When the lake is nearly dry a small elevated central mound appears in the lake, distinctive of impact craters. Symbols of Saaremaa Bread. Saaremaa and sour-sweet bread seem to be inseparable.

The other story was about communicating our value. She shared a story about a woman who runs a very successfull web development company, however she was introducing it to clients by saying ,,I have a little webdesign company". In this and many other small ways she was deminishing her company and herself in the eyes of the potential clients. In this way she was communicating that she didn't belive herself that she didn't had much to offer. The point that Casey Brown suggested to her and everybody else is to focus on the other party on serving and adding value and not feeling like bragging. Roman invasion

over southern England, and another 30 years for them to conquer all of the West Country and the mountains and valleys of Wales. The battle for Yorkshire and the remainder of northern England was still underway in AD 70 The first Roman city was Camulodunum also called Colonia Vitricencis. It was the seat of Roman power and governance of Brittania until sacked during the Boudiccan revolt. Why the Romans came to Britain is not quite certain. Two reasons have been suggested: 1) The Romans were cross with Britain for helping the Gauls (now called the French) fight against the Roman general Julius Caesar. 2) They came to Britain looking for riches - land, slaves, and most of all, iron, lead, zinc, copper, silver and gold. How long did the Romans stay in Britain? The Romans remained in Britain from 43 AD to 410 AD. That is almost four hundred years (four centuries). Why did the Romans leave Britain?

Page 2 of 9 Problem Definition In this part you describe the problem you set out to solve. You provide sufficient detail so someone can both understand why the problem is significant and how it has been solved in the past. Your problem is further detailed by providing key design requirements that the solution must meet. The problem definition section should have the following subsections using the suggested labels for each subsection: Problem Scope A short paragraph explicitly stating the problem to be solved. Technical Review This section describes why the problem is important. It is a long section providing background information of the problem. It contains a state-of-the-art technical review that brings the reader up to speed to the current state of the field which you are working in. Chances are that the reader is not an expert in the field, as you are

Report To:headmaster From:Liis Subject: Suggested improvements Date:2nd May 2011 The purpose of this report is to comment on conditions in the college and to make recommendations for possible improvements. Although conditions are generally good, there are one or two problems. Firstly, in large classes, there is not much desk space. Secondly, the classrooms tend to be darl, especially in the winter months. Finally, during video lessons, some of us find it difficult to see screen properly. There are number of changes that could be made in order to improve the situation. To begin with, I would strongly suggest that the number of students per class kept to below ten. In this way... To sump up, while most of us are satisfied with the conditions, I feel that above improvements would make things even better. If these suggestions were carried out... Complaint Dear Sir I am writing to complain about the holiday apartment I rented from you on 15...

The Great Plague of London

Pepys was not among the group of people who were most at risk: he did not live in cramped housing, he did not routinely mix with the poor, and he was not required to keep his family in London in the event of a crisis the most notable fact about Pepys's plague year is that to him it was one of the happiest of his life On 31 December, in his annual summary, he wrote that 'I have never lived so merrily (besides that I never got so much) as I have done this plague time Pepys suggested that the Navy Office should evacuate to Greenwich, although he did offer to remain in town himself. The Great London fire In the early hours of 2 September 1666, Pepys was woken by his servant who had spotted a fire in the Billingsgate area . He taught that the fire wasn't serious and turned back to bed. Soon a servant woke him up again and told him that 300 houses had been destroyed and London bridge was threatened. Pepys went to the Tower to get a better view

SWEDISH FOOD

Upheld mostly to protect people’s teeth and prevent dental cavities, the tradition is historically linked to dubious medical practices. In the 1940s and 1950s, at Vipeholm Mental Hospital in Lund patients were used in a series of human experiments for research purposes, and fed large amounts of candy to intentionally cause tooth decay. Based on its findings in 1957 of the direct relationship between sweets and tooth decay, the Medical Board suggested Swedes eat candy only once a week — a tradition that is still upheld in many households today.

Rare animals

time running out before the building work begins, extinction is imminent for a species that was only recently added to the UK's red list of endangered species. Can China's rare `bear' survive? Pandas are not a species at an `evolutionary dead end' as is sometimes claimed, according to new research that has been carried out by scientists at Cardiff University and in Sichuan in China. Previous findings have suggested that the serious decline in giant panda numbers in modern times is related to its unusual dietary requirements the species exists almost entirely on bamboo habitat isolation and relatively slow reproductive rate. But this new study, published in Molecular Biology and Evolution, has uncovered an important relationship between the species' decline and human activities. "It is clear that the species has suffered at the hands of human activities such as deforestation and poaching," said

The giver 1-6 chapter

Lily's parents remind her of a past experience when she was a Six and had felt out of place while visiting a different community of Sixes, and Lily decides that she now feels sorry for the Seven, who must have felt like a stranger, rather than angry at him. Lily's father got her to stop being "angry" at the little boy on the playground by talking to her, and reasoning with her. He asked her how she would have felt if she was in a new, strange place. He suggested that maybe the boy did not know the rules of their community, and did not know he was breaking them. Lily said that she understood, and said that she was no longer angry with the boy. 5. What is Father's job in the community? Nurturer who works with infants. He enjoys his job and takes it very seriously, constantly trying to nurture children who will stay alive until the Ceremony of Names. However, even if he is attached to a child, he will release it if that seems to be the best decision. 6

Queen Victoria and her time

during the queen's minority. Ignoring precedent, Parliament did not create a council to limit the powers of the Regent. [3] Princess Victoria met her future husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, when she was sixteen years old. Prince Albert was Victoria's first cousin; his father was the brother of her mother. Princess Victoria's uncle, King William IV, disapproved of the match, but his objections failed to dissuade the couple. Many scholars have suggested that Prince Albert was not in love with young Victoria, and that he entered into a relationship with her in order to gain social status (he was a minor German prince) and out of a sense of duty (his family desired the match). Whatever Albert's original reasons for marrying Victoria may have been, theirs proved to be an extremely happy marriage. [3] Early Reign In 1837 Queen Victoria took the throne after the death of her uncle William IV. Due to her

studies that have evaluated inter-rater agreement have usually showed that the agreement coefficients between the computer and human raters is at least as high or higher than among human raters themselves (Elliot, 2003; Landauer et al., 2003; Page & Petersen, 1995). All AES engines have obtained exact agreements with humans as high as the mid-80's and adjacent agreements in the mid-high 90's--slightly higher than the agreement coefficients for trained human raters. Several validity studies have suggested that AES engines tap the same construct as that being evaluated by human raters. Page, Keith, & LaVoie (1995) examined the construct validity of AES, Keith (2003) summarized several discriminant and true score validity studies of the technology, and Attali & Burstein (2006) demonstrated the relationship between AES and instructional activities associated with writing. AES is not without its detractors. Ericcson & Haswell (2006) performed a

and the world. At its centre is Nelson's Column, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base. Statues and sculptures are on display in the square, including a fourth plinth displaying changing pieces of contemporary art, and it is a site of political demonstrations. The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars. The original name was to have been "King William the Fourth's Square", but George Ledwell Taylor suggested the name "Trafalgar Square". The northern area of the square had been the site of the King's Mews since the time of Edward I, while the southern end was the original Charing Cross, where the Strand from the City met Whitehall, coming north from Westminster. As the midpoint between these twin cities, Charing Cross is to this day considered the heart of London, from which all distances are measured. In the 1820s the Prince Regent engaged the landscape architect John Nash to redevelop the area

Priorities of Estonian History

2 Tiit Rosenberg, Vene balti ajaloo historiograafia XIX sajandi II poolel ja XX sajandi algul," 1-2. It is apparent that partiality has leaked into much historical writing over the centuries. Does that nullify the histories? Siobhan Kattago has advocated for pluralism in politics and historical interpretation. She wrote that mankind must recognize, tolerate, and even respect different understandings of history. We must find points of common interest, yet respect cultural differences. She suggested that it is possible for two or more right versions of history, multiple truths, to exist side by side, at least to the point that we can recognize them as valid viewpoints.3 In my opinion, attaining this evenhanded analysis of the past is one of the main priorities of Estonian historical research. Historians must take a balanced look at all the sources, considering others' points of view. Indeed, this is essential to historiography in general, that historians remove

available for development. There is considerable leeway for adjustment of the siting and configuration of the above grade buildings under consideration. At this level of investigation, only schematic studies of this question can be undertaken. A number of schemes of massing options have been studied, and the strongest two have been selected for illustration to suggest alternate ways to approach this unique problem. At this stage, it is suggested that the recommendations in this study be equally reviewed. Spectacular solar site: the southern face along Grant Road will provide enough solar energy for the entire three level structure. Skylights, balconies, and sunken gardens provide light to below grade levels. An open design: interior plan of lower level conference room utilizes moving dividing walls to create privacy amongst community. Above is a detail from the proposed expansion plan north of the Grant Community Center.

Lewis Carroll

are many superficial references to her hidden in the text of both books. It has been pointed out that Dodgson himself repeatedly denied in later life that his "little heroine" was based on any real child, and frequently dedicated his works to girls of his acquaintance, adding their names in acrostic poems at the beginning of the text. Gertrude Chataway's name appears in this form at the beginning of The Hunting of the Snark, and no one has ever suggested this means any of the characters in the narrative are based on her. Though information is scarce (Dodgson's diaries for the years 18581862 are missing), it does seem clear that his friendship with the Liddell family was an important part of his life in the late 1850s, and he grew into the habit of taking the children (first the boy, Harry, and later the three girls) on rowing trips
