The Tudor Dynasty ( Tudorite dünastia) Powerpoint Show

THE TUDOR DYNASTY THE TUDOR DYNASTY The Tudor dynasty or House of Tudor was a European royal house of Welsh origin that ruled the Kingdom of England and its realms, including the Lordship of Ireland, later the Kingdom of Ireland. Its first monarch was Henry VII. Henry VII THE TUDOR DYNASTY The Tudors extended their power beyond modern England, achieving the full union of England and the Principality of Wales in 1542 and successfully asserting English authority over the Kingdom of Ireland. They also maintained the traditional claims to the Kingdom of France, but none of them tried to make substance of it, though Henry VIII fought wars with France to try to reclaim that title. After him, his daughter Mary I lost the claim on France forever with the Fall of Calais. ...

imaginary island country of Utopia to himself and to Pieter Gillis. This novel describes the city of Amaurote by saying, "Of them all this is the worthiest and of most dignity". * Utopia contrasts the contentious social life of European states with the perfectly orderly, reasonable social arrangements of Utopia and its environs (Tallstoria, Nolandia, and Aircastle). In Utopia, with communal ownership of land, private property does not exist, men and women are educated alike, and there is almost complete religious toleration. Some take the novel's principal message to be the social need for order and discipline rather than liberty. The country of Utopia tolerates different religious practices but does not tolerate atheists. Hythlodeaus theorises that if a man did not believe in a god or in an afterlife he could never be trusted, because he would not acknowledge any authority or principle outside himself.

double-counted on the casualty lists. The death toll has been put at between 1,490 and 1,635 people. Less than a third of those aboard Titanic survived the disaster. Some survivors died shortly afterwards; injuries and the effects of exposure caused the deaths of several of those brought aboard Carpathia. The figures show stark differences in the survival rates of the different classes aboard Titanic. Although only 3 percent of first-class women were lost, 54 percent of those in third class died. Similarly, five of six first-class and all second-class children survived, but 52 of the 79 in third class perished. The last living survivor, Millvina Dean from England, who at only nine weeks old was the youngest passenger on board, died aged 97 on 31 May 2009.

"The perfect man"

Adam is a very talented young artist, who is very handsome and sometimes doesn't know, what he's doing. Jean is this interesting mom, who has got hurt so many times, that she's afraid of men. She is a really bad rolemodel to her daughters at first, but when she pulls herself together and learns from her mistakes, then she is wonderful. And Zoe is a very smart and funny young lady. Ben is this handsome man, who owns a restaurant. He ois a complete romantic and knows about women a lot. My final comment is that it's one of the best films these days. I recommend it to all of you. I could watch it over and over again without getting bored. Kerli Hämarik, 10.b

The attire of the dancers is extremely traditional wherein they wear white shorts, red sashes, black trousers and straw hats. Red and green ribbons along with flowers and streamers are also added to their attire to make their look all the more colorful. Churches are beautifully decorated with different color flowers. Presentation about Casey Brown´s Ted talk

2. slaid (video) 3. slaid - introduction My presentation is about pricing consultant's Casey Brown's speech about knowing the value of yourself as an employee or as a company and making others see what you are worth. This speech seemed interesting to me, because the gender wage gap what she is aiming to is also actual in Estonia. The gender wage gap is a subject that affects somehow all of us. Gender wage gap figure has publicly launched a couple discussions on fair treatment of women and men, and gender balance issues. Casey Brown has some really good tips that we could use to help us. 4. slaid fear and doubts The main point of Casey's speech is that: No one will ever pay you what you're worth. They'll only ever pay you what they think you're worth, and you control their thinking. Casey Brown told two stories. One story was about herself reevaluating her pricing to her clients. She found that eventhough she was pricing consultant an expert, she had doubts and fears too

erratically and upsetting the other characters with his wild speech and pointed innuendos. It is also important to note that Hamlet is extremely melancholy and discontented with the state of affairs in Denmark and in his own family--indeed, in the world at large. He is extremely disappointed with his mother for marrying his uncle so quickly, and he repudiates Ophelia, a woman he once claimed to love, in the harshest terms. His words often indicate his disgust with and distrust of women in general. At a number of points in the play, he contemplates his own death and even the option of suicide. But, despite all of the things with which Hamlet professes dissatisfaction, it is remarkable that the prince and heir apparent of Denmark should think about these problems only in personal and philosophical terms. He spends relatively little time thinking about the threats to Denmark's national security from without or the threats to its

Referaat Islami usust

In most Muslim countries, the process of divorce in Islam is known as talaq, which the husband initiates by pronouncing the word "divorce". Scholars disagree whether Islamic holy texts justify traditional Islamic practices such as veiling and seclusion. Starting in the 20th century, Muslim social reformers argued against these and other practices such as polygamy in Islam, with varying success. At the same time, many Muslim women have attempted to reconcile tradition with modernity by combining an active life with outward modesty. Certain Islamist groups like the Taliban have sought to continue traditional law as applied to women. Modern times (1918present) By the early years of the 20th century, most of the Muslim world outside the Ottoman empire had been absorbed into the empires of non-Islamic European powers. After World

Benny Goodman and his Orchestra were the 'King of the Swing', as were Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw. The music was fast and frantically paced and led to dances being banned from dance halls, as the young women being flung into the air by their partners showed their stocking tops and underwear. Jazz continued to be popular. 1940s - The Second World War brought fast, frantic (and often American) dance music - boogie-woogie or jitterbug. Dances were held in church halls, village halls, clubs, Air Force bases - everywhere! Class and social status in Pride and Prejudice

mediocre class illustrates the differences between them in even the smallest aspects of the everyday life. "When my niece Georgiana went to Ramsgate last summer, I made a point of her having two men servants go with her. You must send John with the young ladies, Mrs. Collins." This statement from an aristocrat, Lady Catherine, to the girls of rather inferior descent, comes to show that if one Miss from a noble family required two servants whilst travelling, then two women of mediocre class were expected to have only one. Perhaps Lady Catherine is one of the characters in the book through whom the reader gets the greatest gist of how important class was in everyday life of the 19 th century people. During a conversation with Elizabeth Bennet Mr. Collins advises her not to fret about her appearance before visiting her ladyship. "Lady Catherine will not think the worse of you for being simply dressed. She likes to have the distinction of rank preserved."

Artificial insemination is an alternative way to have children and it is used by couples who cannot have children naturally. Artificial insemination is a treatment which has many phases and it is both physically and emotionally tiring. The procedure is very hard for the couples and some people cannot deal with the pressure and quit. What is more, the procedure is expensive and it is difficult to find the money. Artificial insemination is most successful with women under 40 because it is the age limit when having children naturally is difficult. During our research, we questioned two women who have been in this procedure and we searched for information on the Internet. It turned out that even though this is not women's favourite way to have children, it is an option if there is a problem. KASUTATUD KIRJANDUS 1. Northanger Abbey

Now you know what to expect from me. Henry Tilney My name is Henry Tilney. I am actually not sure what to tell you about myself, because I am just an ordinary man and I think of myself as a rather boring person. I definitely do not want to sound self-centered, but I must say that I am always rather gentle and caring. I pay attention to others' feelings and never want to hurt anybody. I often display a humorous arrogance and ironic humour towards women. I especially like to do that to Catherine because she is just so naïve. Do not get me wrong, I love and respect women very much, but sometimes I just cannot hold back a good joke. I usually say the opposite of what I mean, in order to seem funny. Isn't that rather clever? I have to admit that I am a perceptive person because I understand people quite well. I have read many books and I work as a clergyman, I think that this explains why am I good at understanding people.

instituted by the Europeans in order to accomplish their objectives, as they viewed them at the time. In these wars the Indian tribes were at a great disadvantage because of their modest numbers, nomadic life, lack of advanced weapons, and unwillingness to cooperate, even in their own defense. The end of the wars more or less coincided with the end of the 19th century. The last major war was not really a war, it was a massacre in 1890 where Indian warriors, women, and children were slaughtered by U.S. cavalrymen at Wounded Knee and South Dakota, in a final spasm of ferocity. A stupefying record of greed and treachery, of heroism and pain, had come to an end, a record forever staining the immense history of the westward movement, which in its drama and tragedy is also distinctively and unforgettably American. Native Americans today have a special relationship with the United States of America.

See tekkis valjude, pidevate mürsuplahvatuste tagajärel.

Other than generating jobs and money Coca-Cola Company has a huge role in politics as well because they have a lot of money and with lot of money comes a lot of power to do and change things. For example they try to promote economic growth and decent work for everybody including women, men, young people and persons with disabilities and equal pay for equal work value. They are committed to enable the economic empowerment of 5 million women across its global value chain by 2020 (Business for 2030). Washington

The Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery are often confused with the National Gallery of Art when they are in fact entirely separate institutions. The National Building Museum, located near Judiciary Square, was chartered by Congress and hosts temporary and traveling exhibits. 4.There are many private art museums in the District of Columbia, which house major collections and exhibits open to the public such as: the National Museum of Women in the Arts; the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the largest private museum in Washington; and The Phillips Collection in Dupont Circle, the first museum of modern art in the United States. Other private museums in Washington include the Newseum, the International Spy Museum, the National Geographic Society museum, and the Marian Koshland Science Museum. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum located near the National Mall maintains exhibits, documentation, and artifacts related to the Holocaust.

(,,A Farewell to Arms," 1929), mis sünge lüürilisusega käsitleb Esimeses maailmasõjas haavatasaanud sõduri armulugu oma raviõega. Sellel romaanil oli suur edu ning ta saavutas rahalise kindluse. Nad ostsid Pauline'iga Key Westis maja. Key West ja Hispaania kodusõda Hemingway läks 1929

Referaat Spanish California

Not until 1542 did Spaniards sail north to Alta California, and Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's expedition of that year made landings as far north as modern Santa Barbara. The Spaniards, of course, were hardly the first to discover this land of wonder and extremes. The earliest Californians were adventurous Asians who made their way across the Bering Straits to Alaska thousands of years ago when a warmer climate and a now-vanished land bridge made such travel easier. These men and women and their descendants settled North and South America, spreading out to form the various nations and tribes whom the first European visitors to this hemisphere dubbed "Indians." The mountain ranges of the Pacific Coast isolated these early settlers from the cultures that developed in neighboring Mexico and the western United States. Still, more than two hundred years passed before Spain made any concerted effort to colonize the coastal regions Cabrillo claimed for the crown. Coastal

tribe, but when the last great chief, Taha Aki, merged his spirit with that of a wolf after Utlapa, a traitorous warrior, stole his body, the werewolves were created. They discovered that as long as a warrior chose to continue changing into his wolf form he would not age. As Billy's tale ends, Old Quil begins the tale of the third wife's sacrifice. Taha Aki saw his third wife as his true mate and gave up his wolf form so that he could grow old with her. After he had grown old, women in the neighboring Makah tribe began to disappear. The Makahs suspected the Quileutes because of their magic, so Taha Aki charged his eldest wolf- son, Taha Wi, to find the culprit. Taha Wi took five other wolves with him to search the mountains, but sent half the pack home when the trail they followed led them too far north. Tahi Wi and his two brothers never returned. Taha Aki went to the chief of the Makahs in mourning, and enmity between the tribes ceased

perhaps not the most popular. The football World Cup attracts more global interest, as measured by the larger television audience. In ancient Olympic Games the Olympic flame was ignited and it burnt until the end of the games. In modern Olympics the flame appeared in 1928. The flame represents purity, endeavor of perfection etc. In 1936 Carl Diem suggested what is now the modern Olympic Torch Relay. It is lit in Olympia by women wearing ancient-style robes using a curved mirror and the sun. It is given from runner to runner until the games have begun. The Olympic flag was created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914. There are five rings on a white background. The rings are blue, white, yellow, green and red. They represent the five continents of the world. The motto of the Olympic Games is "citius, altius, fortius" which means "swifter, higher, stronger".

History of the USA.

In 1865 the South accepted the loss. Lincoln was shot in 1865 and the next president wasn't strong enough to unite the country, so problems weren't solved. At the beginning of the 19th century many settlers came to America, in search for a better life. By the middle of the 19th century there were already 34 states in the USA. The United States grew to be one of the great powers of the world. The nation fought in the First World War. After the war women got the right to vote for the first time. In 1929 the Great Depression began with the stock market crash. Banks, factories and farms shut down and many Americans were unemployed. Franklin D. Roosevelt, who won the presidential election in 1932, promised a New Deal. Over the next two years, millions of unemployed were given jobs and numerous measures were also taken to help the farmers. In 1941 the United States entered the Second World War when Japan attacked the Hawaiian Islands

The family who turned back the clock.

The family who turned back the clock. When Malcolm Jones woke up last Monday, he heard the birds singing. Not remarkable, you might think, especially given that he lives near a forest. But birdsong in the Jones household is usually drowned by a tidal wave of electronic music crashing around the house as soon as his four children wake up. This is a family who have chosen to fill their home with every conceivable gadget. They have nine television sets, including one in each bedroom and in the kitchen. All the children have their own personal computers and CD players. Of course, there are all the usual appliances we all take for granted, such as the washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, deep freeze, microwave oven, and video recorder, but they also have an electric trouser press, two power showers, an Olympic-sized spa bath and jacuzzi, three cars, and a music system which plays throughout the whole house. ...

USA ajalugu

The Roaring Twenties suddenly ended in 1929 with the Wall Street crash. This crash marked the beginning of the worst depression in America, called as the Great Depression. The period was full of contrasts. In 1925 Klu Klux Klan, who had killed mostly blacks, but also Catholics, Jews an everybody not born in America, had over 4 million members. The Twnties were also a period of sexual reolution, when the existence of an instinctive "sex drive" in young people, mostly women gained social acceptance. Radio and magazines began to present standardized behaviour models. That was the beginning of porn (don't read it teacher!). WORLD WAR TWO Relations with Japan worsed and while negotiations were underway between the two countries the Japanese attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbour in 1941. congress responded by immediately declaring war on Japan.
