for careers. It works well." Emma White, a personal development coach, believes it's important that people understand the breadth of careers out there. "Sometimes I get people coming to me saying something like, 'I just know I want to work with animals.' They go away amazed at the opportunities available." You might even like your new role so much that your partner decides to copy you. When Chris Oldale, 43, an HR manager, went on a taster course about becoming a gas engineer, he took his wife, 49, along. "What I had not expected was to see her getting stuck in with a blowtorch. She wound up liking it so much that she gave up her IT job to join me in my career change." The same happened with Annie and Paul Clayton, both 42. "We both worked in the police for nearly 20 years," says Annie. "But Paul had become disillusioned and had a friend who was a tree surgeon. He started helping him out and he loved it, so he gave up the police

worldwide. The Indians have created virtual economy in the communities they live. When a dollar 2 comes into the community, because of spider-web mentality, that dollar does not leave the community. They reinvest it by buying from other Indians. Indians have studied the art of being a major economic force in America without antagonizing any particular group. You don’t see them in hostile neighbourhood, where they could be held hostage by the anger of that group. They are mostly in businesses which cater to every group – newspaper retailing, taxi/limousine, gas station ownership, and motel/hotel operators. The Jews have used to some extent this “Spider Web Economic” doctrine, but not on the scale of Indians. The Indians are its best ardent practitioners. It is the only and best economic method I have seen which can easily catapult an economy like ours out of its indolent state. I feel totally librated

In the Field Services Department of the Melbourne Construction Company (MCC), a problem has arisen over the maintenance of company vehicles work which is carried out by a sub contractor, the Autocheck Maintenance Company (AMC). Several vehicles have been unavailable for use for long periods because of a deterioration in the quality of AMC's services, and this has caused considerable operational difficulties. When the MCC Transport Manager heard of the problem, he immediately telephoned the Transport Supervisor and asked him to write a short report detailing the background and extent of the problem. Text 1 is the report that the Transport Supervisor drafted out. However, knowing that his report writing ability was not particularly good, he asked his secretary to revise it before she typed it up. Text 2 is the report that was finally sent to the Transport Manager. Read both of the reports and see if you can identify:

This 2005 Values Report marks a new frontier in our reporting. This report is about the future, not the past. It focuses on the challenges facing us as a values-based company. We understand that values are never static, being constantly challenged by new legislation, market developments, social change, even advances in science and technology. Lydia, my love, though you are the youngest, I dare say Mr. Bingley will dance with you at the next ball." "Oh!" said Lydia stoutly, "I am not afraid; for though I am the youngest, I'm the tallest." The rest of the evening was spent in conjecturing how soon he would return Mr. Bennet's visit, and determining when they should ask him to dinner. Chapter 3 Not all that Mrs. Bennet, however, with the assistance of her five daughters, could ask on the subject, was sufficient to draw from her husband any satisfactory description of Mr. Bingley. They attacked him in various ways--with barefaced questions, ingenious suppositions, and distant surmises; but he eluded the skill of them all, and they were at last obliged to accept the second-hand intelligence of their neighbour, Lady Lucas. Her report was highly favourable. Sir William had been delighted with him. He was quite young,

Kuidas muudab mudelprojekteerimine teraskonstruktsioonide valmistamist ja ehitamist

The purpose of this study is to determine how 3D and BIM are changing the design, fabrication and construction of complex steel structures. The thesis is qualitative in nature, in that it tries to determine the effects of virtual design and construction based on in-depth analysis of two case studies. Data were collected during 5 interviews with people who were intimately involved in the projects. Background information was obtained from professional journals, engineering articles and conference papers. During analysis, the data were compared to propositions that emerged from the literature review to determine whether a clear pattern was present. A comparison table was created to compare the effects of virtual design and construction of the two projects. Additionally, a schedule is presented to explain the deadline slippage on one of the case studies. The schedule is accompanied with a data exchange diagram to illustrate how collaboration can affect the

Logistics: The cost of transporting materials as low as possible consistent with safe and reliable delivery. Here the supply chain management system enables a company to have constant contact with its distribution team, which could consist of trucks, trains, or any other mode of transportation. The system can allow the company to track where the required materials are at all times. As well, it may be cost effective to share transportation costs with a partner company if shipments are not large enough to fill a whole truck and this again, allows the company to make this decision. 3. India. The main reason for these defeats was that the Indian prince, Haidar Ali's army included a corps of rocket throwers. They used very large bamboo rockets which had a range of hundreds of metres. The British were determined to learn from their mistakes and a British officer, William Congrieve, began work on developing even bigger and better rockets. Within a few years Congrieve had developed 14 kg iron rockets that could be fired over 3200 m. These rockets were successfully used against Napoleon in the battle of Waterloo and during the US War of Independence. By the 1889s other applications for rockets were being developed. They were used for signalling, for whaling, and even for rescuing people from sinking ships. If a boat got into trouble near to the shore, a rocket with a thin rope tied to it would be fired out over the boat; survivors in lifeboats could use the ropes to pull themselves ashore

You must draw, draw, draw, and with time and tutoring, will improve. This is a truism, just like saying "reading is valuable." I imagine nobody complains about children spending too much time working. If anything the contrary complaint rings loudly. What I don't begin to know is the ideal breakdown, according to age, of reading, listening to instruction, and working or hands-on time. What about technology in excess? Before the age of printing and cheap paper, comparatively few people could become learned. Now, theoretically, our electronic age makes learning easier than ever. Well, technology is indisputably better. We can store and retrieve data much more efficiently. We can communicate in a flash. But still, at the basic level, we must be well grounded -- we must possess common sense, civil manners, frank discussion skills, reasoning abilities, and moral fiber. It is possible to be a technological genius, say a computer nerd, without social skills or civil conscience

The Medium Is the Message

This happened whether the railway functioned in a tropical or a northern environment, and is quite independent of the freight or content of the railway medium. The airplane, on the other hand, by accelerating the rate of transportation, tends to dissolve the railway form of city, politics, and association, quite independently of what the airplane is used for. Let us return to the electric light. Whether the light is being used for brain surgery or night baseball is a matter of indifference. It could be argued that these activities are in some way the "content" of the electric light, since they could not exist without the electric light. This fact merely underlines the point that "the medium is the message" because it is the medium that shapes and controls the scale and form of human association and action. The content or uses of such media are as diverse as they are ineffectual in shaping the form of human association.

It was to Forks that I now exiled myself-- an action that I took with great horror. I detested Forks. I loved Phoenix. I loved the sun and the blistering heat. I loved the vigorous, sprawling city. "Bella," my mom said to me -- the last of a thousand times -- before I got on the plane. "You don't have to do this." My mom looks like me, except with short hair and laugh lines. I felt a spasm of panic as I stared at her wide, childlike eyes. How could I leave my loving, erratic, harebrained mother to fend for herself? Of course she had Phil now, so the bills would probably get paid, there would be food in the refrigerator, gas in her car, and someone to call when she got lost, but still... "I want to go," I lied. I'd always been a bad liar, but I'd been saying this lie so frequently lately that it sounded almost convincing now. "Tell Charlie I said hi." "I will." "I'll see you soon," she insisted
