Moreover, this number may be somewhat larger if we take into account that I have no exact information about the activities of all Estonian composers living outside Estonia. From this uneven and variegated whole I had to choose works worthy of attention. Thus I have had to treat the symphonists in the same manner. I apologise if a colleague does not find his name mentioned. The volume for this extensive work is limited. As the manifold activity of several elder composers still has deep significance today, I have, for the sake of completeness, discussed their other spheres of operation. Symphonic music is divided into two large subsections: instrumental and choral (oratorio and cantata) works. The latter has been severely cut from this work; some examples from momentous stage and oratorical works constitute an exception. The

Despite its enormous impact on the development of the Estonian language, individualistic Pietism found a direct response primarily among the German-speaking clergy and nobility. The Estonian peasantry appears to have welcomed the movement of the Moravian Brethren which had started in Herrnhut in Saxony. In contrast to the Pietism, emphasizing penitence in the spirit of the Old Testament, the christocratic theological approach of the Moravians made them an optimistic and popular movement. This began to spread widely among Estonian 5|Page peasants in the 1730s, when the founder of the movement, Count Nikolaus Ludwig Zinzendorf, visited Estonia. As in its ministries elsewhere, the Estonian Moravian organization was based on Zinzendorf's congregational administration which divided each congregation into so-called choirs. The

Despite concerted evolution that homogenizes a large number of rDNA gene copies, the presence of different gene variants within a genome has been reported. Characterization of an organism by defining every single variant of tens to thousands of rDNA repeat units present in a eukaryotic genome would be quite unreasonable. Here we provide an alternative approach for the characterization of a set of internal transcribed spacer sequences found within every rDNA repeat unit by implementing direct sequencing methodology. The prominent allelic variants and their relative amounts characterizing an individual can be described by a single sequencing electropherogram of the mixed amplicon containing the variants present within the genome
