Introduction of SCM

INTRODUCTION OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM) A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that performs the functions of procurement of materials, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. Supply chains exist in both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary greatly from industry to industry and firm to firm. Supply chain management is typically viewed to lie between fully vertically integrated firms, where the entire material flow is owned by a single firm and those where each channel member operates independently. Therefore coordination between the various players in the chain is key in its effective management

Business peciliarities in Ukraine and Bealrus

A shadow economy swelled and compensated for an unknown share of the economic collapse. 2001-2008 Between 2001 and 2008, the Ukrainian economy picked up significantly. Many of Ukraine's large-scale capitalists--the oligarchs--are former Soviet-era industrial managers who succeeded on a grand scale when industries were privatized. Their wealth was originally based on a traditional, simple formula: convert cheap energy and raw materials into metals and manufactured goods. The six richest Ukrainians are all metallurgy magnates. In Ukraine--like in Russia--incumbent managers (there is a special term in Russian for such executives/ owners Red Director) were present at the birth of private property and could harness privatization. The political atmosphere of nation building helped keep foreigners-- Russians and Westerners alike--mostly out of the game. The major exception was the

The Burger King menu has evolved from a basic offering of burgers, fries, sodas and milkshakes in 1954 to a larger, more diverse set of offerings that includes several variations of chicken, fish, salads and breakfast. The Whopper, a sandwich that has since become Burger King's signature product, was the first major addition to the menu by Mr. McLamore in 1957. Not all introductions have had the success of the Whopper; BK has introduced many products which failed to catch hold in the marketplace. Some products that have failed in the US have seen success in foreign markets, where BK has also tailored its menu for regional tastes. The company's "Golden Age" of advertising was during the 1970s when it introduced its mascot the Magical Burger King, a memorable jingle, and several well known and parodied slogans. Beginning in the early 1980s, its advertising began to lose focus; a series of less

Chika Onyeani ………………………Every African must internalise this book - period….DAA INTRODUCTION In October 1960, Nigeria received its independence from Britain. By then, Ghana the former Gold Coast had been independent for three years under the great Osagyefo Kwame Nkumah. It was a time for celebrating Africa’s coming of age, as more and more African countries received their independence either from Britain or France. It was especially a poignant time for Africa, as then British Prime Minister Harold McMillan articulated his now famous “winds of change” sweeping Africa. We had high hopes for Africa, for the Black race, that the insidious imposition of foreign rule on us, the looting of Africa’s natural resources by our colonial masters accorded us would be things of history. That is more than forty years ago. Unfortunately, the promise of independence has not been fulfilled.

Word of these new amazing weapons quickly spread around the world and soon rockets were being used in military operations in North Africa and Europe. During the 15 th and 16th centuries they were widely used in naval battles to set fire on enemy ships. Around this time they also started being used for more peaceful purposes again. In the 16th and 17th century Europe fireworks displays using rockets became a very popular form of public entertainment. In the late 18th century the British army suffered two serious defeats at battles in Seringapatam, in India. The main reason for these defeats was that the Indian prince, Haidar Ali's army included a corps of rocket throwers. They used very large bamboo rockets which had a range of hundreds of metres. The British were determined to learn from their mistakes and a British officer, William Congrieve, began work on developing even bigger and better rockets. All about High Tech

All about High Tech High tech is technology that is at the cutting edge--the most advanced technology currently available. There is no specific class of technology that is high tech--the definition shifts over time--so products hyped as high tech in the 1960s would now be considered, if not exactly low tech, then at least somewhat obsolete. This fuzzy definition has led to marketing departments describing nearly all new products as high tech. Economy Because the high-tech sector of the economy develops or uses the most advanced technology known, it is often seen as having the most potential for future growth. This perception has led to high investment in high-tech sectors of the economy. High-tech startup enterprises receive a large portion of venture capital. However, if, as has happened in the past, investment exceeds actual potential, then investors can lose all or most of their investment

There is no such thing as a totally sustainable tourism

Probably, one of the first definitions for sustainability from tourism point of view is given by World Commission on Environment and Development (1987) that sustainability is certain progress that will satisfy the needs of present without damaging the future needs. Sustainable tourism (ST) has several definitions, to create a new one, some of main definitions are required to discuss at first. All these definitions have some parts common and other parts vary; nevertheless they all can offer solutions for themes. Butler (1999) suggests that key problem in ST is incapacity to define ST to all parties to meet their needs. Hunter (1997) suggests that it would be extremely useful to see ST as an example of flexible and an adaptive arrangement, where different tourism methods are chosen by suitability to local conditions. Swarbrooke (1999) adds to Hunter (1997) that sustainable tourism is not only preserving
