A young man called John Harmon stands alone on the deck of a ship sailing up the River Thames. He looks down at the dark river and asks himself that is that right to come back . His father is dead and John is rich now, when he will marry a girl he has never seen. That was told in his father’s will, where is told that John Harmon will inherit all his father’s money when he will marry a certain girl who is named Bella Wilfer.
It is an autumn evening and dark shadows are covering the river. There is a boat and in it is sitting Jesse Hexam with his daughter Lizzie. Suddenly, another boat appears and the man in it starts to talk with Jesse. He is called Rogue Riderhood and he says that Jesse is his partner , but Jesse doesn’t agree with this and he asks Lizzie to row home as fast as she can. While rowing, they find a drowned man at the end of the boat’s rope. Later Mortimer Lightwood, who was old John Harmon’s lawyer , receives a letter from a boy named Charley Hexam where is said that young John Harmon is dead. Mr. Lightwood, Mr. Wrayburn and Charley go to Charley’s home. Later when the guests leave, Lizzie asks Charley to leave their house and gives him some money. Because of John Harmon died, his money will go to the old servant Noddy Boffin. A part of that Mr. and Mrs. Boffin decides to offer a reward to the man who finds out the killer John Harmon. The same evening Boffins come to the Wilfers house and want to help Bella. After there was offered a reward, a man comes to say that Jesse Hexam killed Harmon. He hasn’t said it before , because he wanted a reward. When they go to find Hexam, they find him dead. At the Boffins house there is a guest. It’s John Rokesmith, who wanted to be Mr. Boffin’s secretary . He gets the job and both Boffins are happy . The same day Bella goes to live in the Boffins house. Bella decides to go visit her old home. When she left her home, he also goes to his father’s office. There she gives her father a purse where is fifty pounds because she wants that her father buy some new clothes. One day Bradley Headstone, who is Charley Hexam’s schoolmaster, asks Lizzie to marry him and Charley is already agreed with that, but Lizzie says no and Charley gets angry about that answer. A sailor knows that Rogue Riderhood had lied about Harmon Murderer because of money and tells him that his blaming words can hurt Hexam’s children . Mr. Boffin becomes more unkind to John Rokesmith every day and Bella feels sorry about him. Eugene Wrayburn tells Mr. Lightwood that every evening when he goes out after dark, he is followed by Bradley Headstone and sometimes Charley Hexam is with him. So Mr. Wrayburn goes to walk with Mr. Lightwood and the schoolmaster is following them . After some time Mr. Rokesmith decides to leave his work and says that he loves Bella. Because of that Bella decides to leave too and they want to marry. Lizzie hears a cry and a splash and she notices that Eugene is drowning and she gets him to the doctor . Lizzie finds out that Eugene Wrayburn is dying and his last wish is to see her. When Lizzie goes to see Wrayburn, they want to marry. Charley said to Mr. Headstone that Mr. Wrayburn is killed and he suspects that Mr. Headstone killed him. Riderhood says to Mr. Headstone that he knows that he wanted people to think that Riderhood attacked Mr. Wrayburn. Because of that they both drown. One day John Rokesmith says to Bella that he found a new job at the Boffins house. There Mrs. Boffin explains what has happened and Bella understands that she married with John Harmon. One day Mr. and Mrs. Boffin watched John, Bella and their child and Mrs. Boffin says that old John Harmon’s money has turned bright again at last. And Mr. Boffin smiled and agreed.

Plot Overview Jane Eyre is a young orphan being raised by Mrs. Reed, her cruel, wealthy aunt. A servant named Bessie provides Jane with some of the few kindnesses she receives, telling her stories and singing songs to her. One day, as punishment for fighting with her bullying cousin John Reed, Jane’s aunt imprisons Jane in the red- room, the room in which Jane’s Uncle Reed died. While locked in, Jane, believing that she sees her uncle’s ghost, screams and faints. She wakes to find herself in the care of Bessie and the kindly apothecary Mr. Lloyd, who suggests to Mrs. Reed that Jane be sent away to school. To Jane’s delight, Mrs. Reed concurs. main character is typically being placed in a most painful situation just to please a friend. Antagonists (particularly rivals in love) are frequently terrifying, and just as often get their come-uppance in a delicious fashion. Although his plots are on the surface formulaic, Wodehouse's genius lies in the tangled layers of comedic complications that the characters must endure to reach the invariable happy ending. Typically, a relative or friend makes some demand that forces a character into a bizarre situation that seems impossible to recover from, only to resolve itself in a clever and satisfying finale. The layers pile up thickly in the longer works, with a character getting into multiple dangerous situations by mid- story. An outstanding example of this is Code of the Woosters where most of the chapters have an essential plot point reversed in the last sentence, catapulting the characters forward into greater diplomatic disasters.
