A for-and-against essay

Songwriters aren’t paid fairly for their songs which are streamed Nowadays when mobile devices are our everything, everything can be done with your mobile phone. You can listen to music, watch videos, play games and even do coding with your phone. There are lots of musicians, rappers and songwriters whose lives are a dream to many. However, things aren’t always as they seem. Firstly, in 2006, a website called Spotify was created. In Spotify you could listen to music anywhere you want, very easily and without spending any money. Songwriters started getting a lot of attention and spins for their creation. In addition, by 2021, Spotify had already reached 158 million users. Songs are making history by getting huge amounts of streams, over 1000 million streams. Another advantage is that newcomers who upload their music to the internet may get a huge boost and rapid spins, make some money and get famous more easily. On the other hand, ...

Charles Dickens "Our Mutual Friend"

father is dead and John is rich now, when he will marry a girl he has never seen. That was told in his father's will, where is told that John Harmon will inherit all his father's money when he will marry a certain girl who is named Bella Wilfer. It is an autumn evening and dark shadows are covering the river. There is a boat and in it is sitting Jesse Hexam with his daughter Lizzie. Suddenly, another boat appears and the man in it starts to talk with Jesse. He is called Rogue Riderhood and he says that Jesse is his partner, but Jesse doesn't agree with this and he asks Lizzie to row home as fast as she can. While rowing, they find a drowned man at the end of the boat's rope. Later Mortimer Lightwood, who was old John Harmon's lawyer, receives a letter from a boy named Charley Hexam where is said that young John Harmon is dead. Mr. Lightwood, Mr. Wrayburn and Charley go to Charley's home. Later when the guests leave, Lizzie asks Charley to leave their house and gives him some money

Hamleti esimese monoloogi kokkuvõte

Hamlet's first soliloquy The soliloquy begins with Hamlet wishing that his body would melt, turn into water and become like dew (hommikukaste). He also would like if the God hadn't made a law forbidding suicide. He says that life seems weary, stale, flat and useless to him. He moans as it is terrible. The world was like and unweeded garden that had finally gone to seed but only ugly things thrived. He can't believe what had happened as his father was dead only two months. Not even that long. He says how excellent king his father was compared to the current king, his uncle. His father was like the sun god Hyperion compared to a lecherous satyr (ihar satüür). He believes that his father had

To: Klick Costumer Service From: Edgar Rootalu, [email protected] Subject: Laptop Fujitsu Siemens enquiry I saw your advertisement in the latest ,,Eesti Ekspress". It raised some interesting thoughts in me. I consider buying this notebook. First, it says that it is quick and powerful. Does this mean that I can play every computer game existing. Another question is about the price. It says the computer has a remarkable discount. So how much did this thing cost earlier? I have a technical question also. The operation system is new Windows Vista, but can i run some old programs too like from ninties? The ad says i can do the payment by instalments. So if i do this can i do everything with the laptop or i have some limits which comprise downloadings and such other things. How high is the interest rate? I look forward to your answer! You are what you read

You are what you read. Dear audience, Form my topic I chose You are what you read. I chose this topic, because I kind of disargree with the it. Yes, it's true, that you recive knowlage from reading, and that designs your view of the world. For example if you read a book about UFOs, with different facts and examples, then you will probably start to believe in it too. However, if you read a book that says UFOs aren't real and explains what people have thougth to be UFOs, you have no choice but to argree with the statements. So yes, i think that, you are what you read, but you read what you choose to, whitch means that you are what you choose to be. On the other hand I think that the topic should be You read what you are, beacause you choose what you want to read. Let's take the same UFO example. If you are a realist, then you'd choose a book

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

November 8, 1991 Charlie has some good news and some bad news. Firstly the good ones: Charlie got a B for his English paper on Peter Pan. His language skills are also improving. He says that he wants to write when he grows up. At the same time he is helping Mary Elizabeth with her Rocky Horror Picture Show fanzine, Punk Rocky. Charlie also says that he loves Sam. And the bad news is that Sam has already a boyfriend Craig. Charlie's sister tells him that Sam used to be a "blow queen". This hurts Charlie very much, because he didn't want to think like that over Sam. November 12, 1991 Charlie likes Twinkies. He tells a story about rats, pleasurable rewards, and electric shock. It's a very interesting experiment and it tells that rat or mouse would put up with a lot more voltage for the pleasure. November 15, 1991

Philip Larkin poetry analysis

talking about England and USA. He describes the darkness that is creeping up. In my opinion he is talking about USA, which is beginning to creep up on England or on Europe. And because of that England is becoming a less dominant and more isolated place. He is saying that intimacy is dying and that may represent the globalization. Another political poem I really enjoyed is ´´Homage To a Government´´. Larkin says that next year they are going to bring all the soldiers home, because they (citizens) want the money for them selves. And that their children do not know it's a different country, because they did not achieve anything in the war. But at least they can leave their children some money. I think that Larkin means that the troops are going to be brought home from Vietnam. At the end of almost every line in the first stanza is /And it is all right

(direct speech), but reported (indirect) speech. Therefore, you need to learn how to transform direct speech into reported speech. We use reported speech when we are saying what other people say, think or believe. - Example: If this verb is in the present tense (says), it's easy. We just put 'she says' and then the sentence. When we are reporting things in the present, future or present perfect we don't change the tense. : direct speech: "I like ice cream" reported speech: She says she likes ice cream - But, if the reporting verb is in the past tense (said), then usually we change the tenses in the reported speech: direct speech: "I like ice cream" reported speech: She said she liked ice cream. ......... · When there are Changing tenses: present changes to past:::: am/is --- was are -- were want/like/know/go etc --- wanted/liked/knew/went etc do/does --- did have/has had will --- would can --- could wanted/liked --- had wanted/had liked

How To Get Better Grades

HOW TO GET BETTER GRADES To get better grades you have to learn everything and to be careful not to miss anything. In school you have to listen to everything your teacher says and you have to do your homework. Homework has to be done everyday and it has to be checked, because in your home your parents can check your homework for mistakes. When you are at school you have to be prepared and be ready to answer any questions that teachers could ask you. If you have something not done or forgot to do something, then you have to apologise to the teacher and it has to be done for the next day. The main key to success is paying attention in

She is answering the questions that are asked from her with very long sentences. But she is also saying things that are not necessary. What is Freddy's attitude towards Liza? Freddy is giggling at her. How does Liza leave? She says good by to everyone but before she leaves Freddy stops her and asks if she is walking but Eliza says that not bloody likely and leaves. What does Higgins suggest Clara to do after she said that they had to leave? Why does he give such a suggestion? He suggests to try the new small talk at the three at-homes. He says to pitch it in strong. Higgins said to his mother that Liza was useful. Useful in which way? He said that she knows where all his things are and remembers his meetings.

Reasons why human beings are unique

Much of what he said stills stands. Yes, we see the roots of many behaviours once considered uniquely human in our closest relatives, chimpanzees and bonobos. But we are the only ones who peer into their world and write books about it. We see the roots of many behaviours once considered uniquely human in our closest relatives "Obviously we have similarities. We have similarities with everything else in nature; it would be astonishing if we didn't. But we've got to look at the differences," says Ian Tattersall, a paleoanthropologist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, US. To understand these differences, a good place to start is to look at how we got here. Why are we the only human species still alive today whereas many of our early-human ancestors went extinct? The Cataclysmic Death of Stars

The Cataclysmic Death of Stars Republished from the pages of National Geographic magazine Written by Ron Cowen March 2007 Ever since he was a teenager, Stan Woosley has had a love for chemical elements and a fondness for blowing things up. Growing up in the late 1950s in Texas, "I did everything you could do with potassium nitrate, perchlorate, and permanganate, mixed with a lot of other things," he says. "If you mixed potassium nitrate with sulfur and charcoal, you got gunpowder. If you mixed it with sugar, you got a lot of smoke and a nice pink fire." He tested his explosive concoctions on a Fort Worth golf course: "I screwed the jar down tight and ran like hell." "kaboomWoosley", now an astronomer at the University of California at Santa Cruz, has graduated to bigger explosions--much bigger. Woosley studies some of the most powerful

170 injured when two bombs exploded near the finish line of Monday's race.FBI Special Agent Richard DesLauriers told a news conference that pieces of nylon had been recovered from the scene, along with fragments of ball bearings and nails that were "possibly contained in a pressure-cooker device".He said they were being sent to the agency's laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, where experts would reconstruct the devices to determine their make-up and components The BBC's Paul Adams, in Boston, says vigils for the victims were held across the city on Tuesday night as Bostonians still wrestled with why anyone would want to attack their much-loved marathon. Associated Press quoted a source close to the investigation as saying that the bombs consisted of explosives placed in 1.6-gallon pressure cookers, one with shards of metal and ball bearings, the other with nails. The bombs were put into black bags and left on the ground, the source said.

stupid, or a martyr. Every hero has faults and these faults along with heroic deeds make the man or woman; a hero, heroine. "Antigone" would be considered a hero in the sense of being a martyr. Because of her love for her family Antigone wanted to give her brother a proper burial, and even though he did evil deeds, she respected him. She believed that all of the dead were in a state of equality. When faced with the decision to obey the King or obey her heart, she says on page 23, in lines 86-90: "I will bury him myself./If I die for doing that, good:/I will stay with him, brother;/and my crime will be devotion." This decision, to bury her brother, was very heroic in that even though she knew death was at stake, she knew where her loyalties lied. On page 39, lines 560-575, Antigone stands up to her uncle and tells him to his face that he has disobeyed the Gods decrees. In line 562, 563, and 564 she says:

An analysis of the problem of Political Power - essee

Also, others can be affected with threats and force. (Kilp, 2010) Political power includes also right to force the others and to punish them if they disobey. Who should have that kind of power? Actually the political power is quite mysterious by itself. If someone has legitimate political power over me then he or she has a right to force me to do things that they want.(Wolff, 1996) But how can other person have rights to tell me what I have to do? It feels insulting if someone says to me what I have to do especially if he or she thinks that he or she has a right to punish me if I disobey. But of course there is a different view. We need to think about, how will the others behave if they were not held back by laws. If we think about it then there might be a lot to say about the importance of political power. (Wolff, 1996) Nature condition We think that it is self-evident that we live in the world of political institutions.(Wolff,

All about High Tech

Universities can assist companies through research partnerships, sharing laboratory space and equipment, providing below-market-cost incubator space, and facilitating tech transfer and commercialization. Considerable high-tech growth has occurred around universities and research centers in San Jose and San Diego, California; Boston; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C. "Some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Europe have relocated in U.S. cities to gain access to American research," says Kah. A recent example is Novartis, which recently moved its worldwide research headquarters to Cambridge, Massachusetts, to take advantage of the synergies of being part of one of the most vibrant biotech clusters in the world. "High-tech firms prefer cities that have a critical mass," says Dennis Donovan, principal with Wadley-Donovan Group, a site location firm. "This mass must have a compatible talent pool, universities or institutes with related R&D, and comparable companies and suppliers

Schools kill creativity

Schools kill creativity Kristiina Moosel N-14 Ken Robinson had a greate speech in TedX 2006. He was discussing about creativity and how we help ourselves and others to develope it. Mostly I agreed with him but still there were some points, where I could argue with him. Ken Robinson says noone knows how’ll the future be like. The future where our kid’s are going to have to live in. Still our education system wants us to prepare them for that. Prepare them for the mystery, for something we have no idea about how it’s going to be. If I had no younger relatives, I’d have to dissagree with him - I mean, when I was in secondary school I had to study mostly only those subjects I’d really need in the future. But I have some relatives younger than I am

Dover Beach

Perhaps the author tries to raise awareness on how the rapid industrialization and progress in science moves man too far away from what he also conciders importaint his roots and his faith. In the final stanza, the lover is addressed again. The author solemnly (a bit desperately even) makes an oath to always be true to her and expects the same from her. He explains this by stating that a world without faith is actually dark and complicated and says that what seems to be new and interesting and making our lives more comfortable actually pushes us further away from being in touch with our inner selves (faith) and holds none of the pleasures it seems to offer. In a world like that the only comfort he can find is in his lover and therefore does not want to lose her.

Gender equality in higher positions of companies

Many high-level positions in companies are filled by men even though the workforce in many developed countries is more than 50 percent female. Companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women. To what extent do you agree? In the 21st century it is all about gender equality and every individual wants to achieve high level position in their work place. In the past, women, in many societies, had less rights and privileges than men. The statement says that companies should give a certain number of higher positions to women. However, I do not agree with this requirement completely. Giving a certain percent of higher positions to women certainly is an easy solution but in my opinion it will bring even more sexism. It shows that women are somehow weaker, fragile and need help for everything. And this on the other hand, will cause a situation where females will receive less credit for their jobs, even if they do their work really well.

Halloween

4.Picture 56.History of Halloween 7.Luther's celebration 89. Turnips and Halloween 10.New elements 11.Druids in Britain 12.Picture Halloween is a holiday in many English speaking countries that is celebrated on the night of October 31st. Children wear costumes and they go to peoples' homes saying "Trick or treat!" to ask for candy, sweets in the United Kingdom, or lollies in Australia, and then people give it to them. This practice originally involved a threat. A threat is when someone says that they will do something bad if they do not get what they want. In this case the threat could be explained as: "Give me a treat or I will play a trick on you." Children today usually do not play tricks if they do not get treats. However, some children still get up to mischief (pranks or things to make fun of people; like putting toilet paper in trees; writing on windows with soap or throwing eggs at peoples' houses)

But Kate Hilpern discovers that plenty of help is at hand Some of the jobs that career changers are most keen to break into PR and teaching, among them are the very same jobs that people are queuing to get out of, says John Lees, author of How to Get a Job You'll Love and Take Control of Your Career. Many of us get to the point, whether in our twenties, thirties, forties or fifties where we decide to change careers. Some of us will make radical changes, while others will move to the edge of their comfort zone, perhaps shifting from acupuncturist to homeopath or PR office to journalist. But the key to making the right decision, says Lees, is to bring your dream back down to life with a hard thump
