Doing business in Australia

Greetings and conversation *Australians are not very formal, so greetings are casual and relaxed – a handshake and a smile are appropriate. * English is the spoken language at business meetings. However, stick with standard terms; do not experiment with Australian terms. * Popular welcome topics include the weather, sports, anything related to Australia in a positive way is a good conversation starter. * Topics to avoid –religion and politics - unless the Australian counterpart brings it up. Do not get into immigration and aboriginal issues no matter how curious you are. Also, comments on accents will not be welcome, as they often distinguish social classes. Business meetings and meals *Regarding dress code, men should wear a dark coloured, conservative business suit. *Similarly, women should wear a smart dress or a business suit. *Punctuality is important, it better to arrive a few minutes early.

vegetables and fruits so I would make buffets healthier. Secondly, I believe that it would make classes more effective to watch different educational movies. Doing the same thing from day to day is simply boring and some variety would surely increase students' interest in class. The third thing I would do to spice up life at school is organizing more fieldtrips. There are many different cultural and historical exhibits and museums kids may never visit unless they skip classes to do so. To sum up, I would say that although the Minister of Education could change a lot, our school life today is pretty good.

Further more, the instructors in the studio help young promising artists discover and develop their talents. Secondly, the art studio is situated in an excellent place and is open round the clock, which is very convenient for the students as it allows them to relax and study there without going too far away from the school. The venue can also be used to host exhibitions where artists can demonstrate their works of art. Thirdly, I feel that it is my responsibility to let you know, unless the arts department’s decision is changed, a protest will be held. In conclusion, it is vital for our school to have an art studio. It is essential for struggling artists of our school but it also helps to promote the school and attract new prospective students. I really hope you reconsider this decision. Yours Sincerely, …..

In your advert you also claim that the product will be delivered within 10 days, but it took 3 weeks until I got it. I had to buy another gift for my friend. I am really sad, because that china figure would have matched perfectly with the theme of my friend's new room. I would like you to refund my money as soon as possible. Unless I receive a satisfactory reply within the next three weeks, I will have to take further action. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours faithfully, Lisanna Mark

The advantages and disadvantages of multiculturalism

things such as new oriental cuisines and much more. Many different traditiones expand that way. On the other side, people are different and probably, when they move to another country, they expect or hope, that there is better life, but often they are wrong. The obstacle can very easily be even the language. If you don't know or understand the language of the country, it can be very tricky to live on. But in good will, learning the language isn't very hard, unless you're learning Chinese symbols. The threat of terrorism may get worse as the result of multiculturalism. Many people can also choose the wrong path, so they may become criminals and murderers. As well there may arise problems, disagreements and opposite opinions about racism. Multiculturalism is good and beneficial, when it when it doesn't destroy the country's own traditions, habits and of course people. In that way, multiculturalism is useful and developing society !

For & against about credit cards.

Using credit cards Credit cards have been very popular for two decades already. There are many ways to pay for your shoppings and not to worry about how much money you really have. First of all, credit cards are an amazing invention because it makes our everyday-lives so much easier. We do not have to carry cash with us, we can pay by a credit card. Carrying cash is actually pretty dangerous because you can get robbed. But when your card gets stolen, you just call to the bank and they close it for any further operations. Second of all, it is comfortable and feels like somebody is taking care of your finantial business. But on the other hand, when you recieve your credit card bill at the end of the month, the reality hits you really hard. You have not thought of how much you spend and eventually you find out that you do not actually have the money to pay for what you have bought. Lots of people have e...

Article: Estonians

Estonians... Estonia is quite a northern country and therefore Estonians may seem a bit peculiar to ones from south, but don't be scared, they will not eat you (alive). Estonians are quite tranquilly and bottled up people - they might love or hate you and if you're not an expert will not make a difference as they didn't care at all. Rarely tend they to kiss or hug each other unless their beloved ones. So if they nevertheless do it then there's a great chance you're dealing with some non- Estonians. But there's no reason for worrying- if a person is from a region where that kind of over-loving-behaviour is common and he or she practices it anyway then a bathetic Estonian will just bear it and play along. In case of visiting like in many other European countries in Estonia it's also polite to bring

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Facebook

If you want you can even sell some things on Facbook and if you´re dog or cat get´s lost you uplode a picture of the animal and you´re friends eill share it and usually everyone will find their animal. Now it's time to talk about some disadvantages of Facebook. Using Facebook for your need is actually good for us but when we waste most of our valuable time then it becomes harmful. Facebook often brings bad effects on student results, addicted students do not get good marks in their exams unless they cheat or way too smart for the class. In the end Facbook is not a bad thing it can even help at some problem but if you´re addicted to Facebook you need to do something about it. So everyone needs to be caerful about using Facebook.

How to keep Estonians in Estonia - kirjand

In my opinion the first thing to do would be changing out politicians. I feel like the only thing they want is to make teir lives better, not the average person's. Whatever it is that they change it only drives Estonians away. I think that if everyone could get higher education for free they wouldn't have to get a student loan which they are not able to pay back after graduating. They have to get a well-paid job. But here in Estonia you can't get a great job unless you have a relative who's a top executive. Because of this many people go to a foreign country for a short time. At least that's what they say. Most of my friends and relatives who have gone abroad years ago are sure they are never coming back to live in Estonia. I'm not sure if it would help to keep Estonians in Estonia if kids would have a normal childhood but it really makes me angry that they have to be able to read at the age of 5. I think it wouldn't hurt to

Skulptuur “Kristallmets”

Juhendaja: Anne Jaama CRYSTAL FOREST Sculpture „Crystal Forest“ represents crystals made out of wood, which tips have been painted colorful. Usually it’s gold, silver or diamonds that are considered a country’s valuable treasures. Unfortunately, they are not found in Estonia, but we still have something to value and draw more attention to – it’s wood. Today, forests cover up to 55% of our country’s territory but it’s possible that this number might start decreasing quickly unless we start taking the state of forests more seriously. A good forest grows approximately 70 years so the young peole who plant trees on their land, won’t probably be building houses with them, instead their children or grandchildren will. We dream of Estonia, where even the children of our kids know what the word Forest means and can walk there any time, pick berries or go skiing in the winter. Since we didn’t want to waste what we were drawing attention to, we

Why does Marx elevate proletariat? Do you see Wright doing the same? What do you think why?

because he did see the society in a much larger context and bigger picture, whereas the middle class was dealing with life instead of revolutionizing, which inevitably causes inequality. Some people have business knowledge and others have skills, which necessarily makes one getting exploited by the other. What he wanted to say was, that the proletariat does not have to be against the upper class. All in all, I am more into Erik Olin Wright’s view rather than Marx’s. Unless there comes a time in my lifetime when an event such as a revolution really comes to life. Until then, they both make good points and have ideas that are worthy of looking into.

"What makes a good movie?"

to have some great special effects. Some movies have been successful even without any special effects, but nowadays people expect to see special effects in every movie. Special effects are now mostly made with the help of computers and the level of the effects depends on the skill of the people doing them and the level of their equipment. When all three are good and people have put much effort in them, the movie will probably be great unless someone messes things up very badly. But even when one of these elements is a bit weaker but another is superb, the movie can still be a great success.

Should a mosque be built in Tallinn?

radicalization is not religion, but the feeling of exclusion. The feeling of not being wanted within society. Many parts of Europe are currently caught in a vicious circle A terrorist attack occurs, so people no longer want Islam in their home town. The muslim population, as a result, feels alienated and pockets of radicalized muslims start to form . Every so often, one of these groups commit another terrorist attack and thus, the wheel just keeps turning. Unless we find a way to break this circle, things will only get worse as time goes on. We must keep in mind that the road from legitimate suspicion to rampant paranoia is often much shorter than we think. These are, indeed, volatile times for muslim people living in Europe. Deadly terrorist attacks from Islamic fundamentalists have stricken fear into the hearts of many and have resulted in a rise of tribal mentality within many parts of western society. In

On friendship

love with her, that she is unworthy of your love. In friendship and in love we are always humble, because we see that a free gift has been given to us; and to lose that humility because we have lost friendship or love is to take a pride in what should shame us. We have our judgments and our penalties as part of the political mechanism that is forced upon us so that we may continue to live; but friendship is not friendship at all unless it teaches us that these are not part of our real life. They have to be; and we pay men, and clothe them in wigs and scarlet, to sit in judgment on other men. So we are tempted to play this game of judgment ourselves, even though no one has paid us to do it. It is only in the warmth of friendship that we see how cold a thing it is to judge and how stupid to take a pleasure in judging; for we recognise this warmth as a positive good, a richness in our natures, while the

Character sketch - Sal Paradise, On the Road by Jack Kerouac

outgoing as his new friend. Sal is inspired by the wildness that is in Dean Moriarty and wishes to be brave like him. Sal sees Dean as his hero and role model thus overlooking Dean's faults and protecting him when others call Dean crazy. Dean makes many mistakes throughout the novel, but Sal quickly forgives him and everything starts from the beginning. In some ways Sal envies the madness of Dean, but is unable to replicate it himself, unless he is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Sal and women. The beginning of On the Road already gives away that Sal is not good with women and this is proven many times in the book. Sal sees women as a way to be pleasured and entertained. Moreover, Sal goes along with Dean's crazy ideas to pick up girls whenever and wherever possible, but tends to leave them like Dean as well. For example, Sal is thinking of marrying Lucille but Dean shows up and convinces Sal to go on the road again

Reading task

Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief A film review by Bill Gibron The new Harry Potter wannabe, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, gets so many things right that when it goes astray (which happens with more and more frequency as it goes along) you kind of wish it hadn't tried in the first place. Unless your last name is Harryhausen, you shouldn't really maneuver Greek mythology, and you definitely don't need to use it as a source from some Shrek-inspired collection of tired pop culture riffs. Yet that's exactly what this Chris Columbus helmed half-success does. We begin by learning that the fabled gods of old do exist, and that Zeus is especially mad at brother Poseidon. Seems the head hocho's magical lightning bolt has been stolen, and each accuses

Éclipse chapter 12 - kokkuvõte

without him, she wouldn't want to live even a day, let alone eternity. Reassured, Edward tells Bella that he understands her qualms about marriage; but he asks her to try to understand how natural getting married seems to someone of his own era. For a moment she visualizes herself as a radiant, turn-of-the-century bride-to-be, before quickly returning to her own reality. Edward, for his part, remains unwilling to relent and change Bella unless she marries him first. They agree they are glad to understand one another's perspectives better, but it is still an impasse. When Edward arrives the next morning to take Bella to school, she is staring blindly at a newspaper report on the latest string of gruesome murders in Seattle. The newborn vampire there is clearly getting scarily out of hand. Bella is terrified by the idea of the Cullens going to Seattle to deal with it, but also of the Volturi turning up to sort things out themselves

Barcelona

Word Processing Practice ex 1 sí sí BARCELONA sí sí It's vibrant and hip, it buzzes till dawn and will leave you exhausted, exhilarated and aching for more. For a sleepless weekend, Barcelona is the place to go. CATALANS The Catalans really know how to have a good time. They love life, love to party and see little point in sleeping when they could be out enjoying the night scene. At the hour when most people in Britain are heading home to bed, the action in Barcelona is just warming up. And when most Scottish clubs are closing their doors, the hippest clubs in this city are just opening theirs. GAUDI Most tourists will want to take in stunning sights such as Gaudi's wackily- designed flats, his unfinished Sagrada Famiglia church and the city's more traditional Santa Eulalia cathedral. Young locals, however, are more likely to be found w...

Report

The reader needs the information. A report should be clear and easy to follow. The person who reads it should find the information quickly. THINK: why you are writing the report, why the reader needs your report and what she might be interested in. Think about the best way to present the facts. If it’s a report of events (e.g. a traffic accident), describe them in chronological order. It should NOT be written like a letter! NO salutation/sign-off. Impersonal style (PASSIVE!), unless you make suggestions or give personal opinion – then you can use “I”. Formal language –no contractions, slang, etc. You can use the following format at the beginning of the report: To: From: (DO NOT write your own name. A member of the student committee etc. is fine) Subject: Basic structure 200 (+/- 10%)  Introduction: Aim of the report Status of the writer (who you are – not your name – to write the report given in the task)

Bella realizes they are missing something important, but she can't figure out what it might be. Carlisle calls the Denali clan to request help in dealing with the army, but he is told that Irina and Laurent had a relationship, and the clan refuse to help unless Carlisle gives them leave to destroy the werewolves in retaliation for Laurent's death. Past simple and continious

Past Simple is used for this meaning. When I lived in London, I walked through the park every day. 4 Used to & would Used to This often contrasts with the present. The contrast may be stated or understood. I used to go swimming a lot (but I don’t now). The negative form is either: I didn't use to or I used not to (rare for some speakers) The form I didn’t used to may also be found. This is usually considered incorrect, unless we consider used to as an unchanging semi-modal form. There is no present time reference possible. Would This is used to describe repeated actions, not states. It describes a habitual activity which was typical of a person. Every week he'd buy his mother a bunch of flowers. Used to would also be possible here. Compare: I used to like cowboy films. Would is not possible here. Would is more common in written language and often occurs in reminiscences. Unfulfilled past events 1

Summary of philosophy of right (õiguse filosoofia kokkuvõte)

Morale obligates to obey the universal rights. Philosophy of Right, III: Abstract Right and Morality The Philosophy of Right begins with a discussion of the concept of the free will and argues that the free will can only realize itself in the complicated social context of property rights and relations, contracts, moral commitments, family life, the economy, the legal system, and the polity. A person is not truly free, in other words, unless he is a participant in all of these different aspects of the life of the state. The basis of individual rights lies in property. Property is not merely material acquisition--it is central to an individual's assertion of identity and personality. Property is an expression of self and the locus of an individual's claim to rights, since it is through property that one can say "this is mine," a claim that others respect.

Dorian Gray, Lord Henry Wotton, Basil Hallward

Dorian Gray Dorian Gray is the kind of person you could look up to from far far away but whom you would never want to be. To others he seems pretty, almost ideal but in the real world there is no such thing as an ideal person. His good looks does him no good in more than just one way. It makes him vain and obsessed with his appearance. Also looking good is something everyone wants to achieve. And people who envy you often gossip and start nasty rumors about you. A person like Dorian Gray worries about his fading beauty and would do almost anything to keep it. For example he would wish a pretty portrait of himself age instead of him. It is easier to hide away a ugly-looking painting, that depicts the eeriness of your soul, than yourself. All that matters is the present day and the face that you see from the mirror. Right? As it turns out, even for Dorian, the saying out of mind- out of sight doesn't really work. You can only try to den...

can run with you. But, if one day you call and there's no answer....I might need you. - If I reach for your hand, will you hold it? If I hold out my arms, will you hug me? If I go for you lips, will you kiss me? If I capture your heart, will you love me? - Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you only have one life to live and one chance to do all the things you want to do. - It's not enough to have a dream, unless you're willing to pursue it. It's not enough to know what's right, unless you're strong enough to do it. It's not enough to learn the truth, unless you also learn to live it. It's not enough to reach for love, unless you care enough to give it. Men who are resolved to find a way for themselves will always find opportunities enough; and if they do not find them, they will make them. - Why do we close our eyes when we sleep, when we cry, when we imagine, when we kiss, when we pray

"Marketing"

persuasive selling, no-pressure selling, targeted selling, but all of them amount to the same thing in the end; selling is the art of persuading the consumer that buying the product or service will benefit him or her. Whatever product or service you're selling, then, you need to focus your selling efforts on communicating the benefits of your product or service to the consumer. The benefits may be tangible or intangible, but unless the individual consumer is convinced that he or she will personally experience the benefits, your product or service won't sell. Think about it. Why do women smear color on their eyelids? Did anyone in the entire world ever actually need a hula hoop? That's the art of selling.
