Should a mosque be built in Tallinn?
Dear classmates and teacher ,
Today I want to talk to you about a topic that has brought with it a great deal of controversy in recent years . Namely, should the construction of a mosque in Tallinn be permitted?
Estonians often like to pride themselves for being more tolerant and open -minded than those from other post-soviet nations. This sort of a progressive mindset, however, rarely extends to the principles of religious freedom . But why? Why are so many people opposed to something that in its core is just another place of worship much-like any other? After all, the construction of the mosque wouldn’t even be funded by tax-payers. In addition, most of us don’t oppose the building of churches, even though Estonia is currently the 3rd least religious country on the planet .
Many people fear that the building of a mosque would open a door for Islamic radicalization in Estonia. I for one, find that very hard to believe since the main cause of radicalization is not religion , but the feeling of exclusion. The feeling of not being wanted within society. Many parts of Europe are currently caught in a vicious circle – A terrorist attack occurs, so people no longer want Islam in their home town. The muslim population, as a result , feels alienated and pockets of radicalized muslims start to form. Every so often, one of these groups commit another terrorist attack and thus, the wheel just keeps turning. Unless we find a way to break this circle, things will only get worse as time goes on. We must keep in mind that the road from legitimate suspicion to rampant paranoia is often much shorter than we think.
These are, indeed, volatile times for muslim people living in Europe. Deadly terrorist attacks from Islamic fundamentalists have stricken fear into the hearts of many and have resulted in a rise of tribal mentality within many parts of western society. In these volatile times we should all come together. Instead of isolation, we need integration. Instead of building walls, we need to build bridges. It would be naïve to think that the building of a single mosque in our nation ’s capital would solve all our problems, but it would be a great start.
I would like to end my speech with a quote by captain Jean-Luc Picard from the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation: “With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied – chains us all irrevocably. Those words were uttered as wisdom and warning. The first time any man’s freedom is trodden on, we are all damaged.” Thank you all for listening .

Muslims wishing to convert to Islam are required to recite the creed. 2) Prayer Ritual prayers, called alh or alt, must be performed five times a day. Salah is intended to focus the mind on God, and is seen as a personal communication with him that expresses gratitude and worship. Salah is compulsory but flexibility in the specifics is allowed depending on circumstances. The prayers are recited in the Arabic language, and consist of verses from the Qur'an. A mosque is a place of worship for Muslims, who often refer to it by its Arabic name, masjid. The word mosque in English refers to all types of buildings dedicated to Islamic worship, although there is a distinction in Arabic between the smaller, privately owned mosque and the larger, "collective" mosque. Although the primary purpose of the mosque is to serve as a place of prayer, it is also important to the Muslim community as a place to meet and study

alMahfz, the "Preserved Tablet". The Shi'a understanding of predestination is called "divine justice" (Adalah). This doctrine, originally developed by the Mu'tazila, stresses the importance of man's responsibility for his own actions. In contrast, the Sunni deemphasize the role of individual free will in the context of God's creation and foreknowledge of all things. and Shafi'i, established around the teachings of Abu Haifa, Ahmad bin Hanbal, Malik ibn Anas and al-Shaif'i respectively. All four accept the validity of the others and a Muslim can choose any one that he or she finds acceptable. The Salafi is an ultra-orthodox Islamic movement which takes the first generation of Muslims as exemplary models. The Shias are making the second biggest branch of Islam, constitute 10-20%. While the Sunnis believe that a Caliph should be elected by the community, Shia's believe that Muhhamad appointed his son-in-law, Ali ibn Abi Talib, as his successor and only certain descendants of Ali could be Imams(leaders). All in all, they believe that Ali ibn Abi Talib was the first Imam, rejecting the legitimacy of the previous Muslim caliphs Abu Bakr, Uthman ibn al-Affan and Umar ibn al-Khattab. Shia Islam has some several branches. The largest of which is the Twelvers, followed by Zaidis and Ismailis

of the great wisdom teachings of humankind. The messengers – Buddha, Jesus, and others, not all of them known – were humanity’s early flowers. They were precursors, rare and precious beings. A widespread flowering was not yet possible at that time, and their message became largely misunderstood and often greatly distorted. It certainly did not transform human behavior, except in a small minority of people. Is humanity more ready now than at the time of those early teachers? Why should this be so? What can you do, if anything, to bring about or accelerate this inner shift? What is it that characterizes the old egoic state of consciousness, and by what signs is the new emerging consciousness recognized? These and other essential questions will be addressed in this book. More important, this book itself is a transformational device that has come out of the arising new consciousness. The ideas and concepts presented here may be important, but they are secondary

that. I suppose I could share my plant knowledge with a single student, or several, and it wouldn't make much difference to me. The whole role of apprenticeship and master-apprentice needs to be expanded beyond its present confines of carpentry, masonry, electricity, and the like. It is true all of us are genetically capable of only so much; that our upbringing and education can be the same yet we turn out differently because of our genes. Well, how should you or I raise kids? Or if we don't want to be parents, how do we help educate children in general? Most mature adults feel a responsibility to both self-education and assisting others; the majority even tax themselves to help educate others. Schooling choices are varied. If money was not problematic I would send my kids to the best schools. If money is lacking (and so far, it is) I'd send them to the best public schools within reasonable proximity

HOUSE AND HOME tööleht

Almost 63% of British people own their own homes. There are about 25 million homes in the UK, of which seven out of 10 are owner-occupied. Most live in terraced houses and tower blocks located mainly in town centres, semidetached houses in districts nearer to town centres, or detached houses which usually lie in expensive suburbs, closer to the countryside than the centre. Many people live in rented accommodation, including council flats and houses built and owned by the local government. Modern council housing estates may be a mixture of different buildings, providing a variety of facilities for their inhabitants, such as play areas for children, a community centre, etc. Since the 1980s, council tenants have been allowed to buy their own homes very cheap if they have lived in them for more than two years. Since the early 1990s, building new houses and flats has been very slow. But today the number of new homes built soars to an 11 year high
