INTERVIEW: DIFFERENCES BETWEEN TEACHING IN CHINA AND IN ESTONIA According to a Chinese language lecturer of a University in Estonia, teaching in China and teaching in Estonia does have some differences. The lecturer received a BA from Shanghai Teachers' Collage and MA in Education from Boston University. She has taught overseas students for 3 years in Guangxi University in China before coming to Estonia in 2013. Since then she has taught in various universities in Tallinn. Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text

Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text The Summary is based on the text taken from the Journal `The News letter' written by David Cranmer. Principal among the reasons is the obvious one that once the extensive context is understood, it is easier to concentrate on the detail of individual words. Large-scale vocabulary building is, in general terms, therefore better done after the text has been presented. (Cranmer 1986:60) Another important reason is that it is possible at this stage to exploit the new lexis in its own right, not just as a means comprehension, If we are to bring new vocabulary into active use and not just passive understanding, it is not sufficient for us just to teach it. It should be done in a way, so that teachers should be sure that it is learnt and used. If the words are taught after the target text, then the meaning of the words will be more understandable. In this case, the `matching' is...

Canteen Firstly, the canteen`s food prices are too low and service is very slow. It would be a good idea to mark down the price of food and to put meals on the table before lunch break. As result service would be faster and more students could afford eating school lunch . Library Furthermore, the majority of the students (56%) are not agreed with library opening hours and range of books. By buying more books and changing library opening hours, we could solve the problem. Teachers` teaching styles Last, the minority of our class students (22%) do not like the teachers` teaching styles. Teachers should explain more clearly what they exactly want from students. In this way all the students would accept the teachers` teaching styles. Conclusion To sum up, I feel that the above improvements would make things even better. If these suggestions were carried out, both teachers and students would be content with teaching and studying conditions in the school.

Art-based learning

Art-based learning We can see that art-based learning is not a regular method in school. Although I barely can understand why. It seems to me, that it is rather interesting way of learning. I also would like to point out, that childrens emotional memory is strong and pleasant things will be understood and remembered more. Therefore I would like to discribe the method thoroughly. Only in the past few hundred years has reading been the primary way of teaching religion. For centuries, religious education relied on hearing and seeing. Religious education can benefit by returning to the ages-old methods of hearing and seeing to complement reading. This method enables you to make the old learning way-seeing available for the students nowadays. It is about deepening our understanding of faith. In times past, when people could not read, it was through pictures that they came to realize the glory of God's world and the meaning of the Bible(http://books

The Advantages and Disadvanatges of Having a Part Time Job

Generally speaking, students can benefit a lot from part-time jobs. The first advantage is that students can earn money. Earning money by themselves is good way to learn how to be independent. Students don't have to ask money from the parents and they can see that earning money is not so easy. Second advantage is that students can acquire more experiences and polish their skills when taking part-time jobs. For example, if someone enjoys teaching, working part-time as a tutor may help him or her improve teaching skills and gain experiences. There are some disadvantages, too. First of all, it is the lack of time for focus on studies. There is very big problem that students can't find time for studying. It is obvious that if you have a job, you automatically have less time to do the rest. As a result, they get exhausted, and even skip classes to have a sleep after hard work. In conclusion, nothing is perfect

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government?

enough about it. Government is also responsible for enforcing laws, and protecting people. Government should find a solution for every small problem. Small problems get quickly big, fear and intolerance in people spreads if nothing is done about it. So yes, small problems matter and need to be taken care of. In conclusion, one thing is to prevent problems from growing bigger and finnaly global, enforcing the human rights laws. The seconf really important aspect here is teaching children about tolerance and give them knowledge about world at an early age. It is a long and difficult process, which should be addressed by the government with a greater importance.

Positive sides of outdoor learning

that everybody is important. Outdoor education is a beneficial tool to create a sensible and aware society. Todays increasing environmental problems obligates everyone to take responsibility. Students often come across the phrases "recycle" or "reduction of pollution", but not always is the background nor the causes explained thoroughly. Students cannot develop their environmental disposition without effective, meaningful teaching, that outdoor education provides. Teachers can and should give students deeper knowledge about natural resources and how exactly their deficiency will affect them personally. Direct contact is the best way to learn. Outdoor education is necessary to encourage students to become good stewards and to think globally but act locally regarding the environment and environmental issues. Also, outdoor education is not only important to raise environmentally responsible

Kuidas vähendada sotsiaalset looderdamist?

Igal juhul tuleks olla teadlik produktiivsuse langusest rühmas töötades ning olla juba varem valmis meeskonnaliikmete sotsiaalseks looderdamiseks - selle vältimiseks oleks vaja kasutusele võtta eelnevalt mainitud abinõud. Hästi kavandatud grupitööd võimaldavad luua keskkonna, mis soodustab rühmaliikmete ühist ning individuaalset panust (Jones, K. 2013). Viited: Jones, Kyra (2013). Filmi analüüs "Invictus"

December 11, 2009. The film is produced by Clint Eastwood, Lori McCreary, Robert Lorenz, Mace Neufeld and directed by Clint Eastwood. The story is based on the John Carlin book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation about the events in South Africa before and during the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The title of the film is also a title of a poem ,,Invictus", written by William Ernest Henley. I quite liked this film. It is an interesting and teaching film, which make people think about their attitude towards other people. Nelson Mandela, who released from Victor Verster Prison after 27 years spent in jail, is the first black president of South Africa. He concentrates on problems, which are associated with racial divisions between black and white South Africans. The problems between black and white are obvious even between his own security team. Mr. Mandela attends a game of the Springboks, which is the South Africa's rugby union team.

protagonist. The best example of a noble savage projected to a mentor is Yoda from the Star War (first appearance in 1980) series. He's a Jedi master and a teacher to Luke Skywalker in a time of a civil war between the Empire and the rebels in a galaxy far far away. In order to defeat the Empire, Luke must face his adversary Darth Vader. The only way to do that is to fullfill his destiny and become a jedi, and that is where Yoda steps in. He mentors Luke in the way of the Force, teaching him patience and the balance between the Light and the Dark side, how to restrain his anger and recklessness. Luke is the hero the consumer follows. Yoda is the mentor who gives the actual lessons. Luke does not teach us anything, we learn with him in course of the story. Yoda is the savage with the quirky apprearance, strange voice and grammatically incorrect sentences, bottomless wisdom and badass Force skills. Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid (1984) is another example

Life in future

glass cities, where to live. Water won't be drinkable and people will buy all needful water from shops, actually not from shops but from the internet, because there won't be shops anymore. Food nearly won't exist anymore; energy will come in tablet form. Transport will be a lot comfortable and faster. Cars will be soundless and all vehicles will whir ten times faster. You will think nothing of taking a holiday in outer space. Students will learn from TV, recorders and teaching machines. They will get pills to make them learn faster. We shall be healthier, too. There will be no common colds, cancer, tooth decay or mental illness. But this will be artificial and impermanent. People will be lazier because they won't have to do any work and life will be extremely comfortable but boring. It looks that if everything will be so easy, people will probably die simply from boredom. It's the way I think the world will live in the next century - if there is any world left!

Using computers for school subjects

their own good. Sitting in front of a computer screen all day, every day, is bad for students' health, it can damage their eyesight. Also, it will be too expensive. It would be difficult to buy computers for every student. Setting up and updating the software will create additional costs. If schools buy too many computers, there may not be left money to pay salaries for the teachers. Will it ensure the high quality of teaching? On the other hand, we are living in the 21st century and nowadays everything is done with computers. Computers can be convenient and useful. For example, they can help students search for information. In conclusion, I believe that computers are great inventions, but students should not use them in every school subject. Students should do things with their own hands, not using the technology.

Smacking children

is child abuse. Children's behaviour needs to be controlled but they shouldn't be suffering. Firstly it seems to me that parents who continuously beat their children don't care about them. Although few slight slaps for punishment are enough parents still beat them hard. Parents should be the ones who protect children not the ones who children have to be afraid of. In addition some parents equate smacking with discipline although these two are not the same. Teaching is discipline, smacking is punishment. Parents who don't smack their children still discipline them. They are just using ways that don't involve pain. Moreover the law is against all kinds of physical punishments. Some parents still keep beating their children. They think that it's their own business how they raise their kids but law is for everybody. It is their own business as long as they comply with the law.

The importance of education

The importance of education Education is one of the most important part in our today's society. Children are our future and educating them is really necessary. In the first place, giving children education is really important, because they are our future leaders, teachers and they have to develop our government for centuries. Moreover, schools, highschools and even universities teach some of the things you will have to encounter in your life after studies and have to step to work-life. In Fact, you will probably have to make presentations, CV-s and know how to communicate correctly with people. Furthermore, education gives you experience you can always relay on. It is shown in your documents that you will have for rest of your life. Different jobs require different level of education. Big school or small school

I prefer large school. In a large school there are many opportunities to learn. First I would say that the big school is located in city. This is important to me. When I live in city i have to choose many number of schools. I have to do much more than go home and school. I have more time and i can go in many hobby groups. Secondly I would say that I do not like that teachers have less time. Teachers have little time to deal with people individually. Preparation of teaching materials is more difficult to have many classes in school. Work hard to improve because teachers do not have much time. Thirdly I would say I do not like that there are few nature in a big school near. City people do not surrounded the clean nature. People living in polluted climates, where cars travel every day. People should move to the land where it is cleaner and more recent. In a large school it is better to live and learn. The school has a wide range of areas and

Essay: What Makes a Good Teacher

What Makes a Good Teacher As everybody knows, being a teacher requires different qualities that many people do not have. It is commonly accepted that teaching is often extremely difficult and stressful because pupils can sometimes give the tutor a hard time. Only the tough ones survive. I reckon it all comes down to the circumstance whether the teacher loves her job or does she do it just for the salary. If she only does it for money, the children will not take her seriously. She should also have a vast knowledge of her subject. Otherwise, it is really difficult for the attentive and eager pupils to get answers to their questions

What qualities should, should not a teacher have

What qualities should/should not a teacher have The quality of the education of young people depends on the work of the teacher, who is largely responsible for the exchange of knowledge and skills for young people from an early age up to adulthood. What characteristics must a teacher have in order to do their job as well as possible, so that young adults become enough to start their own life? The teacher must have an advanced level of knowledge in their field. The more qualified the teacher is the better and more clearly he knows how to convey his material for students. From that depends how well young people acquire the knowledge and benefit from skills they have obtained in their later life. Teaching skills are very important. Every teacher should know how to be youthful and attractive enough in its subject, so that the students would give it an interest and they would like to acquire knowledge in this matter. If the subject seems at...

Presenting arguments

There're two points here. Firstly, the cost to the environment. Think of all the rain forests. Secondly, the advertiser may pay, but the costs are passed on to the consumer. There are two problems here. Some of these homes are a long way from bus routes. Moreover, bus services can disappear altogether when the tourist season comes to an end. .... the economic strength of Japan hasn't led to much teaching of Japanese. You also have to consider the vast size of the knowledge base available to English speakers - academic research, scientific reports and an infinite number of books and periodicals. Also, the very act of hosting the World Cup or the Olympics gives a great boost to tourism.... Again, that depends on the alternatives. I prefer the comprehensive system, but I wouldn't want my child to be in mixed ability classes for all subjects.

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

Yet I think there are still many things that could use a change. I think, that one good change has been made related to the national exams, they have been improved a lot. This has assured an ongoing high level of education in Estonia. Our colleges' curriculums have also certified our college students' competitivity worldwide. I would like to bring out the education getting more and more creative as a positive change. I have noticed the use of active teaching methods and personal approach to the students. If I would be the Minister of Education, I would make the first change in turning the educational system to be more student-centered. I find, that not only those students need personal approach, that are going to study in a college but also those, who are going to continue their studies in a vocational school or are heading to work. I would definately change the exam system, so it would reduce the students' studying load in

Educational problems of public school, Report

themselves by what they wear. Kids should have the sight to wear what they want to. Everything would be dull and boring if everyone came to school looking the same. I and the other students in estonia think that parents shouldn`t have more say in school curricula. 39% British students believe that it is necessary. Parents can talk to their child at home about their difference of opinion. Parents shouldn`t be telling teachers what they should be teaching. In conclusion Estonian and British pupils have different aims of education. Standard of education is rated mostly ,,good" in both countries. British students tend to think that corporal punishment is necessary in school. 11.A klass

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia If I were the minister of education in Estonia, I would change many things. Firstly, I would rather spend our money on building schools and purchasing new equipment for teaching, than wasting it on our tough national examinations, because there are a lot of schools that would need a new building. Secondly, English would be taught as a second language at schools. It must be a compulsory subject, because most of the world's population is talking English. I would have all the textbooks revised so that they would be updated with latest happenings and etc. Especially history, because we are learning from textbooks

Internet chatrooms do not serve a useful purpose, essay

You can also play games and make a group conversation there. But actually it is not full of joy. In chatrooms there are sometimes older men who are trying to contact young girls. I saw a documentary about chatrooms lately and there were men who set up a date with under- aged girl, they recorded it and it was sent to police, because having more-than- friends-relationship with under- aged girl is against the law. Parents and schools should be teaching more about Internet safety nowadays to help kids understand about chatroom dangers. In my opinion second important danger is cheating money from innocent people behind their back. Internet chatrooms gain money by adding any kind of advertisements to their application. Many of those advertisements have text for example ,,You won 1 million'' or ,,Write here your phone number and get new Mobile Phone''. But if people click there and insert all the numbers and
