Eating out

When i go out with my parents, we always go health food restaurant. There i order root vegetable soup and juice. Sometimes me order afters too. Hesburger and health food restaurant are very different, one is healthful and one is unhealthy. In general we should all eat a wide variety of nutritious foods, plenty of breads and cereals (particularly wholegrain), vegetables, legumes (such as chickpeas) and fruit, low salt foods, and use salt sparingly, small amounts of foods which contain added sugars. Healthly eating is not about trict nutrition philosophies, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, its about feeling great, having more energy and keeping yourself as healthy as possible. Anna Täker 10d 05.02.2010

Old Tallinn

Kunda Gymnasium Rait Türkel Old Tallinn Report Instructor:Teacher Kristi Aron Kunda 2012 Introduction Like most cities with an eight-hundred-year-old past, Tallinn is a patchwork of historic areas. The city's pride and joy is without a doubt its Medieval Old Town, but equally enchanting is the Kadriorg district, a throwback to the time when Estonia was ruled by the Russian Tsars. Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It occupies an area of 159.2 km2 with a population of 416,470. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, 80 km south of Helsinki, east of Stockholm and west of Saint Petersburg. Tallinn's Old Town is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is ranked as a global city and has been listed among the top 10 digital cities in the world. The city was a European Capital of Culture for 2011, along with urku, Finland.T...

The vocabulary of American English probably started developing on the first day after the arrival of the first English-speaking settlers, and it has continued to change for 400 years. As the New World had many plants, animals, and other things that were not found in Britian, the settlers added new words to their vocabulary every day. Their language was also influenced by the languages of the Native Ameircans and the settlers from other countries like Spain,France, and Germany. Examples of Native American words include tomato, potato, maize, tobacco, moccasin, and barbeque. Vocabulary changes are not as easily accepted by older people, but young generations often use a mixture of both types of English. There are no borders for songs, films, and

He later added: "It is very difficult at all to see how it is possible to become immensely valuable by singing what I think are the most hideous songs." feet thick at the base and walls soaring ninety feet high, the dominating shadow of the Tower loomed forebodingly over the huddled wooden buildings of medieval London, a visible expression of Norman power. The White Tower consisted of three storeys and contains the austere Norman Chapel of St. John, which remains one of the best preserved examples of a Norman chapel in England. The present castle, now covering eighteen acres evolved around the Conqueror's keep, being added to by successive generations. The Tower of London in The 20th Century During the First World War eleven German spies were shot by firing squad in the Tower of London. Only one bomb was dropped on the Tower during that war and fortunately it fell on the moat. During the Second World War the Tower of London was closed to the public and the crown jewels were removed to a safer location. During the war the Tower suffered bomb damage and two 19th century buildings were destroyed. Part of the Old

Fast food

Fifth level Why is it so popular? You can buy fast food just about anywhere that sells food and snacks. Vending machines, drive- thru restaurants, and 24 hour convenience stores are probably the most common places to find fast food. It's so popular because for under $5.00 you can usually get a filling meal. However, fast food is inexpensive because it is usually made with cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats, instead of nutritious foods such as lean meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Is fast food bad? There is no such thing as a "bad" food. All foods can fit into a healthy meal plan. It's true that fast food is usually high in fat, calories, cholesterol and sodium, but eating fast food every once in a while is not going to cause you problems. If you eat too much fast food over a long period of time, though, it can lead to health problems like high blood pressure,

The first translation of the tragicomedia that is interesting for me is by James Mabbe and Dorothy Severin. It is one of the most well-known translations of La Celestina. Mabbe translated the work while Severin edited it and added the introduction and notes. The original translation by Mabbe was in 1631 in London, and uses English from that period. The bridge connects Scotland's capital city, Edinburgh, with Fife, leaving the Lothians at Dalmeny and arriving in Fife at North Queensferry; it acts as a major artery connecting the north-east and south-east of the country. Described in the Collins Encyclopaedia of Scotland as "the one immediately and internationally recognised Scottish landmark", it may be nominated by the British government to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Scotland. The bridge and its associated railway infrastructure is owned by Network Rail Infrastructure Limited. Until 1917, when the Quebec Bridge was completed, it was the longest cantilever bridge in the world. The Forth Bridge remains the second longest. Edward the Confessor & Westminster Abbey

famous are Charles Darwin, Sir Isaac Newton and David Livingstone. The history of the abbey starts in 1050, when King Edward The Confessor decided to build an abbey. Only a small part of this original Norman monastery, consecrated in 1065, survived. The only representation of this original building is shown on the Bayeux Tapestry. Most of the present building dates from 1245 to 1272 when Henry III decided to rebuild the abbey in the gothic style. Large parts were later added: the Chapel of Henry VII was added between 1503 and 1512, while the two West Front Towers date from 1745. The North entrance which was completed in the 19th century, is the youngest part of the abbey. 1) The Nave 2) The Cloyster 3)Chapter House

In 1453 Sultan Mehmed II ordered the building to be converted into a mosque. The bells, altar, iconostasis, and sacrificial vessels were removed, and many of the mosaics were eventually plastered over. The Islamic features -- such as the mihrab, the minbar, and the four minarets outside -- were added over the course of its history under the Ottomans. It was in 1935 that the first Turkish President - Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, converted the mosque into a museum. Halloween

Jack. As the legend says, Jack was a man who tricked the devil and after Jack had died he was allowed neither in heaven nor in hell. With a lantern in his hand he began to search for a resting place on Earth. This was the original JackoLantern. Since Halloween came to America from Ireland (Scotland and Wales) people used pumpkins because they were bigger and easier to hollow out than turnips. During the centuries the cultures have added their own elements to the way Halloween is celebrated. Druids in Britain and Ireland would light bonfires, dance around them and offer sacrifices of animal and crops. The fires were also intended to give warmth to the households and to keep free from evil spirits. Through the ages these practices changed. Kids love dressing up for halloween. European Union economic

up. For today, the aim of this union has made 180º turn but the reason why more and more countries are joining it is still same to rise the economy. So how does it work? European Union is functioning like an independent country. It collects taxes to reach its objectives. Taxes are collected mainly from member countries GDP (1,1% of countries budget) but as well the import duties on good bought into EU. Also, every member country is paying 0,1%-0,33% of their VAT (value added tax). It is the way how EU gets its budget which is about 120 billion per year. This money is spent mainly to improve agriculture (direct aid, export refunds, storage, rural development and other) but also to improve less prosperous regions by building up infrastructure and supporting companies with different kinds of grants. EU is also the largest aid donor in the world. For example EU has supported Georgia's ambitions to get closer to the EU between 1992-2009 with 865 million.

Many battles were fought in the state, for example in 1862 and 1863. Symbols The official state flag of Tennessee was adopted on the 17th of April in 1905. The three white stars in the center symbolize the three different geographical regions of Tennessee. The white circle binds them together. The blue stripe along the margin was added for distinction when the flag is hanging; with the stripe, not only the red shows while the flag is hanging. In 1796, the Constitution of the State of Tennessee provided for an official Great Seal. Although the style of the present seal has changed, the basic elements remain similar to the 1796 provisions Mockingbird, Tuliptree, Iris, Limestone. Brazil's national drinks

It is the most popular distilled alcoholic beverage in Brazil. It is also known as aguardente, pinga, caninha or other names. Cachaça is mostly produced in Brazil, where, according to 2007 figures, 1.5 billion liters (390 million gallons) are consumed annually, compared with 15 million liters (4.0 million gallons) outside the country. It is typically between 38% and 54% alcohol by volume. When it is homemade it can be as strong as the distiller wants. Up to six grams per liter of sugar may be added." The major difference between cachaça and rum is that rum is usually made from molasses, a by-product from refineries that boil the cane juice to extract as much sugar crystal as possible, while cachaça is made from fresh sugarcane juice that's fermented and distilled. While many rums are made from molasses, "cachaça rum" is made from "cachaça", by-product quite different from molasses. Cachaça is prior to crystallisation of sugar. Molasses are produced after crystallisation

E-internet

There are also legal issues to take into consideration.Such vast changes will not happen overnight. It is impossible to say exactly how many texts there are on the web as the number is changing all the time. One thing which is certain, however, is that a growth in the use of internet is guaranteed.Companies doing e- business simply need time to translate their sites into the various languages necessary to do business. Meanwhile, more and more material in different languages is being added to the Web at a fast pace. While all this is happening, local companies, with few employees, doing e- business only in the language of their target market and who are aware of the cultural aspects of that market, will certainly be at an advantage. The problems of language and culture could well limit larger companies from expanding and so offer more opportunities to smaller businesses in poorer areas of the world.

clay or plaster before casting the final work in bronze using the lost wax technique. At his home in Much Hadham, Moore built up a collection of natural objects; skulls, driftwood, pebbles, rocks and shells, which he would use to provide inspiration for organic forms. For his largest works, he often produced a half-scale, working model before scaling up for the final moulding and casting at a bronze foundry. Moore often refined the final full plaster shape and added surface marks before casting. Moore produced at least three significant examples of architectural sculpture during his career. In 1928, despite his own self-described "extreme reservations", he accepted his first public commission for West Wind for the London Underground Building at 55 Broadway in London, joining the company of Jacob Epstein and Eric Gill. In 1952, he completed a four- part concrete screen for the Time-Life Building in New Bond Street, London, and in 1955

Tolerance and Diversity

acquainted with. The origin of a person is usually top priority. However, some people do not care where their friends are from and what the colour of their skin is. "Tolerance" is a noun with profound meaning. It has been built on an individual opinion, on the influence of friends and how the society affects people. Human nature is one-sided, because they believe in exact stereotypes of people and try to follow them. Many characteristics are also immediately being added to the person's characteristics according to its origin. It is better if you never evaluate anything by its appearance in order not to come to the wrong conclusion. People are very easily affected. Media and television are the main influencers. People today just watch television, read newspapers, magazines and take almost everything they say very seriously. Sometimes it seems that people's brains have been paralyzed by the media. They are

Political analysis (PEST) Lithuania

Tax policy After regaining independence in 1990, Lithuania is a fully functional parliamentary democracy. The chief of state is the president, and the head of the government is the premier. The president is directly elected by the people and serves a 5-year term. The parliament, known as the Seimas, has 141 members who are elected for 4-year terms. Of these, 71 are directly elected by the people and 70 are elected by proportional vote. The tax burden, at some one-third of the GDP is moderate by international standards and will further be reduced as the liberalization progresses. These are mainly income and value-added taxes . Tax revenues come from a variety of sources. Goods that are imported into Lithuania face import duties that range from 10 to 100 percent (but average 15 percent on most goods). The highest tariffs are on tobacco, automobiles, jewelry, and gasoline. The personal income tax level is 33 percent with rates of betwee...

Steve Jobs Presentation

Jobs resigned from Apple five months later and founded NeXT Inc. the same year. In a speech Jobs gave at Stanford University in 2005, he said being fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to him; "The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life." And he added, "I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awfultasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.,, NeXT workstations were first released in 1990. The revised, secondgeneration NeXT cube was released in 1990, also. In 1996, Apple announced that it would buy NeXT. The deal was finalized in late 1996, bringing Jobs back to the company he co founded. In August 2011, Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple, but

Easter in England

a hill... without breaking it! More traditions Morris Dance is the biggest attraction of Easter jubilation in England. This dance is always staged by professional male troupes who observe old spring dances to frighten away the evil spirits of winter. The attire of the dancers is extremely traditional wherein they wear white shorts, red sashes, black trousers and straw hats. Red and green ribbons along with flowers and streamers are also added to their attire to make their look all the more colorful. Churches are beautifully decorated with different color flowers. White lilies are placed on the altar and these gorgeous flowers are also displayed on the graveyard. For offering prayers in the church, men and women dress up in their special outfits and as a part of their wardrobe, colorful Easter bonnets embellished with flowers is like a must. In 1963 both the Contemplative branch of the Sisters and the Active branch of the Brothers was founded. Mardi Gras

One float was carrying the king of the Crewe on a throne and another carried a devil sitting among flames made from paper and representing hell. Later, a person of true royal blood found his way into the festival. Alexis Alexandrovich Romanov, the brother of the heir to the Russian throne, went to New Orleans, where the Mardi Gras was being planned. When the planners discovered that a royal person was attending the noisy festivities a float was added for a new king, "Rex." That year, 1872, set the pattern for the Mardi Gras that is celebrated today.. The Grand Duke Alexis was surprised and honored to sit on the float and play the role of Rex. Alexis and Lydia, her loved one whom he had fallowed to New Orleans, probably never even met, but they began a tradition. Rex and his queen are chosen each year to ride on the largest float. They are masked and in costume. Those around the royalty, called "maskers," toss "throw-

Book report/review "The Snow Child"

In my view, the book achieved its goal perfectly. The author knew exactly what kind of a message she wanted to bring to the reader and I believe that she succeeded. One specific point, which left me a bit confused was Fauna, the snow girl. I still can not understand how and why she woke up and became a real person. I guess this is the fact, which makes this book special, but I would have liked the book more if the author would have added a story about how she woke up. In general it was book that was a perfect combination of happiness and sadness. Happiness and sadness were in balance, however the book ended sadly. I would recommend this book to everyone, I see it as one of those books, which you have to add to your have-to-read list.

ideas how it should be done and how to interest a big bunch of overgrown teenagers – especially since Latin classes were the 10th or 11th in a day, so everyone was dead tired and braindead by that time. So we got a taste of grammar – horrible! - a bunch of proverbs! - yay, something useful for a change! - some texts – can't remember a damn thing et cetera et cetera. This concludes the languages I've learned from school. University has added some Hebrew – pretty cool, especially how it's written and how they actually added letters to the Bible without actually changing a word; and some Greek. Oh yes, there's Greek. The thing is, about ten years ago I hitch-hiked to Greece and we went around the northern parts of it, lived some time in Athens, travelled across (literally in cross-shaped) Peloponnesos peninsula and even made a short trip to Crete. Came back with very little knowledge of Greek language, though
