Moulin Rouge
It is a movie about two lovers who fall in love but their love is not possible. Woman, Satine is a courtesan who works in Moulin Rouge and the man, Christian is a poor writer who writes a play „Spectacular Spectacular“ for Moulin Rougle and Harold Zidler who is the owner of Moulin Rouge.
At the beginning Christian presents himself as the Duke to win Satine’s favour. The reason was not that he wanted to trick her but to present his work to Satine. Satine believed that Christian was the right Duke and tried to seduce Christian eventhough the man recisted. They fell in love after Christian reads her one of his poems .
But Zidler had planned Satine to spend the night with the right Duke because he wanted him to become the investor of the Moulin Rouge because Zidler wanted Moulin Rouge to be a real theatre . He used Satine to do that.
After Christian had read poetry to Satine the real Duke arrives . Satine understood what had happened and tries to hide Christian. Satine wanted Christian to leave without the Duke noticing but the man refused. Satine now had to get rid of the Duke. She told Duke that they should wait and pushes him out.
After that Satine collapses. Christian went to help and the Duke returns. He finds the lovers in a very akward position. The Duke was very mad and Satine made up a lie that her and Christian were only rehersing for the „Spectacular Spectacular“ . The Duke believed her and was agreed to finance the play on the contition that he is the only one to see Satine.
As everybody prepares for the show Christian’s and Satine’s relationship becomes deeper. They constantly make up excuses as to why Satine cannot spend time with the Duke. The Duke starts to complain to Zidler.
Christian and Satine are happy together as long as Zidler sees them kissing. Zidler understands the whole situation and promises the Duke that Satine will have dinner with him. Then Zidler goes to Satine and tells her that she must end the affair . After that Satine collapses again and she could not make it to the Duke that night again. Zidler solves the problem and calms the Duke down by telling him that Satine is confessing. Satine tries to tell Christian that their reletionship is over but the man convinces her that they should be together by writing a secret song which he puts in the show.
They are singing the song and the Duke is listening while one of the jelous actress is pointing out that the song and the whole play is really about Satine, Christian and the Duke. Duke gets mad and tells Zidler to change the ending , so the courtisan will choose maharajah. Satine insists that she spends the night with the Duke to discuss that decition. Her real plan is to sleep with the Duke so the play’s ending would stay the same .
That night the Duke offers Satine everything she has ever dreamed of but when she looks out of the window she sees Christian and she cannot go through with her plan to sleep with the Duke. The Duke tries to rape Satine but another actor saves her.
Christian and Satine wanted to run away together from Moulin Rouge. Zidler finds Satine getting ready and tells her that the Duke will kill Christian if they leave. The next day Satine goes to Christian and tells him that she had chosen the Duke. Christian is forces to leave Moulin Rouge.
At the opening night one of the Moulin Rouge’s actors convinces Chistian to go back to the Moulin Rouge because Satine may still love him. He sneaks into the Moulin Rouge. He goes to Satine to give her money for sex but Satine tries to send him away because she is afraid the Duke will kill him. They end up at the stage together where everybody are surprised to see them. Zidler saves the show telling everybody that Christian is the sitar player in disguise. Christian tells in front of everybody that Satine is now the Duke’s and throughs money at Satine telling her that she means nothing to him anymore . As Christian starts to leave Moulin Rouge Satine starts to sing their secret love song showing that she still loves him. Christian comes back and they sing together which makes the Duke very angry. The Duke’s bodyguard tries to shoot Christian but Zidler stops him. Duke understands that he has lost the fight and leaves.
The show ends and everybody are ready to take a bow, but Satine collapses again. She is very ill and dies in Christian’s arms. The movie ends with Christian in his apartment writing their story on his typewriter which he describes as the tale of a „love that will live forever“.

Film review - Moulin Rouge

It's a film made in collaboration between the USA and Australia. What made me want to see it was the trailer which was very dark, mystic and also musical. I really like musical films. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann and stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. The film is set in the beginning of 20 th century in Paris. The main character is a poor English poet Christian who meets a group of bohemians who tell him that he should write a musical play for them to be played at the Moulin Rouge. There Christian meets Satine, the club's star and Paris' most famous courtesan, whom he falls in love with. After some time Satine falls for him as well. Things get really complicated when the club's owner invests in a wealthy duke to help pay for the club's remodelling but the duke will only pay if he gets Satine. That ends up as a crazy love triangle and the ending is very tragic. The soundtrack is very good and all the songs are medleys from various

Tsehhov daam koeraga Chekov Lady and the Lapdog

Chekov Lady and the Lapdog Reid about Chekov: The characters in Chekhov's plays are never fully "known" as a writer, he seems to delight in maintaining a sense of indeterminacy, and unknowability, about them. The bare facts are always laughably inadequate to the complexity of "real" people. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was born on 29 January (New Style), 1860, in Taganrog, a small port on the Sea of Azov, in southern Russia. As the son of a grocer and grandson of a serf, Chekhov was a first-generation intellectual. His modest background and upbringing are crucial to his development as a writer. Chekhov always felt that he missed out on childhood. It was a very hard lifeand it may have contributed to his poor health: he succumbed later on to the"family disease", tuberculosis, which led to his early death at the age of 44.His mother was a quiet, gentle soul who was full of stories of her early life. In later years, Chekhov would say that "we inherited our talent from our father, but mother
