Fairy tale

Once upon a time there was a boy named Sebastian. He had a gorgeous mother, who was very kind and helpful, her name was Cassy. One late night an old woman came to their door. She was sick and dieing and she said: ''I know you are helpful. So I ask you, could you go Far Far Away and bring me green flowers? These flowers could help me to heal.'' Cassy agreed and said: ''I pack my suitcase tomorrow morning.'' Then she went to Sebastian and told him: ''I'm going to leave tomorrow morning and will be back after a week.'' Sebastian was in the bed and very sleepy, he couldn't understand and he thought this was just a dream, but in the morning he understood this was real. Cassy was already half way to Far Far Away when she reached ocean. At the beach she saw red bubbles shaped as big basketballs. Crossing beach made her journey much harder. Finally she reached Far Far Away. It was really snowy there. Despite the snow there were green flowers ev...

The rolling bun

Russian national tale "The rolling bun" Once there lived an old man and old woman. The old man said, "Old woman, bake me a rolling bun." "What can I make it from? I have no flour." "Eh, eh, old woman! Scrape the cupboard, sweep the flour bin, and you will find enough flour." The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour. She mixed the dough with sour cream, fried it in butter, and put the rolling bun on the window sill to cool. The rolling bun lay and lay there. Suddenly it rolled off the window sill to the bench, from the bench to the floor, from the floor to the door. Then it rolled over the threshold to the entrance hall, from the entrance hall to the porch, from the porch to the courtyard, from the courtyard through the gate and on and on. Edgar Allan Poe The tell-tale heart tõlge

Foursyte Saga - The Man of Property

John Galsworthy The Man of Property PREFACE "The Forsyte Saga" was the title originally destined for that part of it which is called "The Man of Property"; and to adopt it for the collected chronicles of the Forsyte family has indulged the Forsytean tenacity that is in all of us. The word Saga might be objected to on the ground that it connotes the heroic and that there is little heroism in these pages. But it is used with a suitable irony; and, after all, this long tale, though it may deal with folk in frock coats, furbelows, and a gilt- edged period, is not devoid of the essential heat of conflict. Discounting for the gigantic stature and blood-thirstiness of old days, as they have come down to us in fairy-tale and legend, the folk of the old Sagas were Forsytes, assuredly, in their possessive instincts, and as little proof against the inroads of beauty and passion as Swithin, Soames, or even Young Jolyon. And if heroic figures, in

A Midsummer Nights Dream

Some of the characters: *Theseus: Kind and generous. He must enforce the law, but talks privately with Egeus and Demetrius to get them to relent. He appreciates the effort that goes into the play-within-a- play, and the sincerity of the ordinary people. He lets his imagination turn good people's sincere effort into a good performance. *Hippolyta: More literal-minded than Theseus. She cannot bring her imagination to consider a bad play good. But she notes that the lovers' tale of paranormal experience in the woods presents "great constancy" -- what paranormal investigators look for today. Like most of us, Hippolyta decides, "If they're all telling the same story, there may be something to it." *Demetrius: Not a nice person. By the time he says he wants to feed Lysander's carcass to his hounds, this seems completely in character. I don't know what Helena sees in him. Neither does she -- such is the irrationality of love, even before the lovers enter the forest

for generations. While Emily takes notes, Billy tells the story of how the Quileutes came to be werewolves. They were originally spirit warriors, able to leave their bodies to defend their tribe, but when the last great chief, Taha Aki, merged his spirit with that of a wolf after Utlapa, a traitorous warrior, stole his body, the werewolves were created. They discovered that as long as a warrior chose to continue changing into his wolf form he would not age. As Billy's tale ends, Old Quil begins the tale of the third wife's sacrifice. Taha Aki saw his third wife as his true mate and gave up his wolf form so that he could grow old with her. After he had grown old, women in the neighboring Makah tribe began to disappear. The Makahs suspected the Quileutes because of their magic, so Taha Aki charged his eldest wolf- son, Taha Wi, to find the culprit. Taha Wi took five other wolves with him to search the

Tsehhov daam koeraga Chekov Lady and the Lapdog

The december uprising happened 10 years prior to the book, so Pushkin could have been inspired by the way authority could be challenged by the lower people. The fact that Lizaveta comes out as the strongest character could be significant? Maybe the fact that Herman is German and was described as having 'the profile of Napoleon' could suggest that the relationship between the countess and Hermann reflects that of different countries during the time? Not really sure, hope it helped though. The tale opens in the "present" (about 1830) during a card game in the St Petersburg rooms of a Horse Guards officer named Narumov. Among the assembled guests is a young officer of engineers, Hermann, who is of German origin, and who never gambles, but observes the play keenly. Tomsky, another member of the company, remarks that his octogenarian grandmother, the Countess Anna Fedotovna, also does not "punt"

a very long time. It is actually a story of those who did nothing to stop the master doing anything he wanted to do. Caught in a trap of fear, the ghosts that exist in this ancient place are those who had opportunity to overturn the master, but never acted to do so. The evil master has never been seen, only his victims. Howling and wailing have been heard. Unsettled feelings and images of being horrified have been recorded. But never a glimpse of the evil one. And so, while you read this tale, never--ever be afraid to expose and overturn those who wish you ill, if you are truly encountering evil. There are always solutions. There is always intelligence and most of all, honor and courage, and those are the best ways to solve problems. Never be a victim. Without integrity, you may become a ghost yourself.

Workday needs fairy tales

Workday needs fairy tales Every person has a way to escape the day to the wonderland, through the music, the art of movies, or through the books. Person can loose a job, all the collected treasure, their love. Even if they have just one friend who cares and supports them, they are not alone. It is very encouraging to think that there is someone who will run to help you, when everyone else turn their back. Music is something that can light up the worst day. Music is filled with many feelings, many words and a lot of soul. Music is like a good friend who is always there. If a soul is filled with hate, music is the one to answer with raw, aggressive and straight forward sound. When the mood seems hopeless, it's music that surprisingly lifts the corners of your mouth with it's swinging and rhythmic melodies. Jaanipäev

This is seen as a way of guaranteeing prosperity and avoiding bad luck. Likewise, to not light the fire is to invite the destruction of your house by fire. The fire also frightened away mischievous spirits who avoided it at all costs, thus ensuring a good harvest. So, the bigger the fire, the further the mischievous spirits stayed away. Midsummer's eve is important for lovers. Among Estonian fairy tales and literature there is the tale of two lovers, Koit and Hämarik .These two lovers see each other only once a year and exchange the briefest of kisses on the shortest night of the year. Film review

Frank Bryant's life wanting an education, although she has no idea what it is that she's asking. Her brash sincerity earns the respect of the doctor who has previously resigned himself to a life of empty lectures and booze. Rita's character is a breath of fresh air for Bryant and he begins to care about someone, or something for that matter, for the first time since his wife left him. As each begins to wake up to life in their own way, the story comes to a close as an inspiring tale of self discovery and of the power choice that comes through education. In my opinion was Rita very freewheeling and acute oservations, and - let's be honest - by Rita herself, Frank also feels a deep sadness as he watches her warm impulsive reactions being replaced by the sort of cold analytical approach he so much loathes in other students and colleagues. Rita has a coal and she knews what she want next from world. I think that

Macbeth saab suure kiituse osaliseks. See jättis Macbethi tummaks.

Edgar A. Poe

self-destructive romantic artist and the self-control of the conscious and conscientious craftsman, the passivity of the dreamer indifferent to all that exists outside his dream world and the restless activity of a keen mind always on the alert. · Poe himself classified his tales as "grotesque", "arabesque", "ratiocinative", to indicate variations in his intentions. The ,,arabesque" are those in which horror or other emotion in violent suspense gives the tale its power ("The Fall of the House of Usher") In the ,,grotesque" tales the effect is achieved by a grim and ironic humour ("The Masque of Red Death") In the ,,ratiocinative" the effect comes from the use of rational analysis in reconstructing a series of events ("Murders in the Rue Morgue", "The Gold Bug") · The economy (tobacco had exhausted the soil) and also the spiritual life in Virginia was deteriorating (the democratic touch was disappearing, Virginia became

Estonian national holidays

After this battle against Estonia's traditional oppressors, the lighting of the traditional bonfires became linked with the ideals of independence and freedom. St John's Day marks a change in the farming year, specifically the break between the completion of spring sowing and the hard work of summer haymaking. Midsummer's eve is important for lovers. Among Estonian fairy tales and literature there is the tale of two lovers, Koit and Hämarik. The tradition before the Soviet occupation, which has now been restored, was for a fire to be lit by the Estonian President on the morning of Victory Day. From this fire, the flame of independence was carried across the country to light the many bonfires. St John's Day became an unofficial holiday, with many work places closing down. It once again became an official national holiday in 1992.

Apperances are deceitful!

People's eyes are attracted to beauty and it's quite natural. We look at flowers, landscapes, pieces of art, and so on. We understand why it is beautiful. People also think of a man's/woman's appearance as of a masterpiece of nature and enjoy it as much as a landscape in the Alps. But is the essence of this beauty the same? Landscapes are parts of nature, pieces of art are created by gifted people; these objects are not alive, don't possess an intellect, so it is much easier to define the essence of it's meaning and purpose. Humans have divine gift of speech, abstract thinking and freedom of action. We can't but agree that it's very difficult to define, what is hiding behind good looks. Our mind is used to assume that beauty contains only good things. We forget that beauty can also be dangerous. This rule can be applied to some people that use their appearance to harm others for their own profit. Good looking people are called lucky and...
