are dispersed quickly by winds and currents. Another problem that affects the marine life is excess phosphorus and nitrogen flow into the sea from towns, factories and other man-made sources which cause intense algae growth. Algal blooming consumes large amounts of dissolved oxygen and in areas with poorer water exchange the oxygen runs out and living organisms will not survive there. Also, the author points out a problem considering heavy metals which increase the water toxicity. It is estimated that about half of heavy metal inputs to the North and Baltic Seas originate as air pollutants. Heavy metals are indestructible and do not break down. When they sink to the bottom and stay strapped there, they may become toxic to the organisms in the area and also, for people, birds and animals who eat the contaminated water organisms. Last but not least, oil and oil products are also playing a big role in marine pollution. In
Where does it originate and / how to Western Europe? The idea of transmutation arose among the Alexandrian Greeks in the early centuries of the Christian era, then it passed to Arabs and then from Arabs to Western Europe. Since then realization was very important to all chemical workers down to the time of Paracelus and even later. 4)narrow and wider meaning of alchemy Narrow sense of the word, alchemy is pretended art of making gold and silver, or transmuting the base metals into the noble ones. Wider meaning that it stands forthe chemistry of middle ages. 5)why is the philosophical principle important in alchemy? Philosophical principle unified and focused chemical effort, which previously was expanded on acquiring empreical acquaintance. Alchemy is an early phase of the decelopment of systematic chemistry. 6)origin of the word alchemy, where does it come from, first used It has an Arabic descent, prefix al is the Arabic article, second part comes from

A NASCAR race car engine is called a V-8 engine. It has 8 pistons. By family-car standards the engine is huge, about 5.6 liters · POWER 750-800 horsepower · It only takes 20 minutes to burn a full tank of gas. The temperature inside a NASCAR V-8 engine can reach 2000 degrees Fahrenheit the pressure can reach 1500 psi, or more than 100 times the normal air pressure we feel around us every day. Some parts exposed to the worst of an engine's extreme heat use special metals to keep them from melting and fusing with another part of the engine. NASCAR rules 1)carburated V-8 with iron block 2) NASCAR also requires teams to use blocks, cylinders and intake manifolds made from castings of approved manufacturers 3) NASCAR places strict limits, for instance, on how engine cylinders are bored THANK YOU!

Objectives 1 Greenpeace is perhaps best known for its campaigns to protect whales and other large aquatic animals from hunters and trappers. Greenpeace programs target multiple areas of ocean defense, centering primarily on pollution and unfair or abusive fishing practices. 2 Many electronics and other products contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals that are difficult to dispose of and impossible to recycle. Greenpeace studies the effects of these chemicals on water, air and the human body and advocates substituting safer alternatives for dangerous materials. 3 Logging and clear-cutting of ancient forests drive species of plants and animals toward extinction and threaten the lives of people whose survival depends on the forest's resources. It's not a solid rocky substance but a compound substance. That would have been kind of a liquid or jem. Also it is said that the philospher's stone is a unusually heavy red powder or sometimes a red stone. But you also encounter it a yellow waxy material perhaps something like amber. The philosopher's stone isn't can't be found but instead you have to creat it. The problem is that no one know excaktly how. Why did they look for a philosopher's stone? Because besides the ability to make base metals into noble ones it was said to have another even greater power. It could potentionally make the holder of philospher's stone immortal. So the stakes were high. Everybody knew that they could rule the world with this mysthical substance. But now everybody believed in it. Mixing together diferent substances probably shorten their life span by decades. They spent their lives to find it but I don't think that they managed it. Why i would like to have a philosopher's stone
It can cause brain damage, kidney problems and even Alzheimer's disease. The countries that are producing the majority of the pollutions that causes acid rain are not that badly affected (Germany, Britain, USA). Instead the wind direction means the acid rain falls in the other places (in Europe : Scandinavia, USA; Canada) Cultural effects Acid rain and the dry deposition of acidic particles contribute to the corrosion of metals (such as bronze) and the deterioration of paint and stone (such as marble and limestone). These effects significantly reduce the societal value of buildings, bridges, cultural objects (such as statues, monuments, and tombstones), and cars. Famous buildings like the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Taj Mahal in India and St. Paul's Cathedral in London have all been damaged by this sort of air pollution.

speaking city in the world. Canada belongs to British Commonwealth of Nations. It rules itself in very much the way the United States. Its capital is Ottawa. The country is divided into provinces and territories. Both the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia are much bigger than the states of Texas. Furs, farms, forests and fisheries make up much of Canada's wealth. The country is also rich in minerals. Canada has copper, lead, silver, gold and other metals. The discovery of rich oil fields in Alberta in 1947 has made oil production one of Canada's leading industries. South of Newfoundland is one of the greatest fishing regions in the world. Much of Canada is covered with forests. A great deal of the wood from the forests in Quebec is used for making paper. Western forests produce much timber. The farms of eastern Canada are rather small. Potatoes are an important crop. Near the Great Lakes there are many orchards.

Keemiline valem Humiinhape Humic acid has the average chemical formula C187H186O89N9S1 and is insoluble in strong acid (pH = 1). One of two classes of natural acidic organic polymer that can be extracted from humus found in soil, sediment, or aquatic environments. The process by which humic acid forms in humus is not well understood, but the consensus is that it accumulates gradually as a residue from the metabolism of microorganisms. Transition and heavy metals--for example, Fe3+ or Pb2+--as well as other compounds having aromatic or hydrophobic (water-insoluble) chemical structures (i.e., organic pesticides or anthropogenic hydrocarbons), react strongly with humic acid. This property makes it an effective agent in sequestering many of the pollutants in terrestrial and aquatic environments. Fulvohape Väiksema molekulmassiga kui humiinhape.

Hybrid technology is most efficient when electric and gas energy are equally utilized. Generally this ideal lies between 30-40 miles per hour. Why no t to purc has e a hybrid? · Even tho hybrids seem to be the solution to "go green"and save the enviroment, its a long way from it. · Hybrids are not zero-emisson vehicles. · High tech parts use various rare alloys and metals. · Batteries use nickel which travels 10000 miles before manufactured into a battery. · High tech parts need to be recycled separetly.(2 motors, alloys, computer parts) · Batteries can still oppose a treat to life in the case of a car accident. · Producing a hybrid takes more energy than the car can save during its lifetime. Why no t to purc has e a hybrid? · Hybrids are more expensive than traditional cars, to buy and to keep running.

vehicles, aerospace, telecommunications, chemicals, electronics, food processing, consumer goods, lumber, and mining. Before the 1980s the main industry in America was manufacturing, but then more high technology industries became main industries. High technology industries are petroleum refining, aerospace, steelmaking and automobile industry. Advances in chemistry and electronics have revolutionized many industries through new products and methods. Science has vastly expanded the number of metals available for industrial purposes, notably such light metals as aluminum, magnesium, and titanium. In the 1980s and 1990s, the United States was the world leader in computer manufacturing. At the beginning of the 21st century, however, the high-tech manufacturing industry registered a decline, because all the big companies moved themselves to the cheaper manpower in the East (China, Taiwan, and Singapore). In 2002, the United States was the world's 3rd-leading steel

There is a widespread belief, both in America and in other countries, that the United States is in economic decline. Agriculture is very wide-spread, above all in the prairie regions, where wheat and other grain crops are grown. Cotton is grown in the Mississippi valley, tobacco in Maryland and Virginia. California is famous for its fruit, and the west for its cattle-farming. Poultry farming is highly developed in the countryside near all big cities. The United States is rich in various metals and minerals. It holds first place in the capitalist world. The Great Lakes and the rivers, especially the Mississippi, are important waterways. For Americans, democracy means more than majority rule. It also means minority rights. The American democratic government was established in March 1789 in the Constitution of the United States. In this system, rights and powers are divided between the individual states and the central, or Federal government
capital. During the 1950's, geologists found huge deposits of coal and iron ore in Australia. Manganese, natural gas and petroleum were discovered in the 60's. Australia has got minerals like: copper, gold, silver, zinc, iron, nickel. Manufacturing. Australia imports more manufactured goods than it exports. The nation has to import many of its producer goods factory machinery, construction equipment and so on. Australia's iron and steel industry produces enough of the metals to meet the needs of other industries. The leading manufactured products are food, cars, paper, chemicals, clothing and shoes. Most of the factories are located in and around Sydney ad Melbourne. Forestry and fishing. Forests cover about 6 per cent of Australia. The majority of Australia's trees are eucalyptuses. The wood of eucalyptus is used for making paper, floorboards and furniture. Although Australia is surrounded by water, its fishing resources are limited

They are only found in Australia and nowhere else in the world and they are called reptile-mammals. Economy The Australian economy is dominated by its services sector, yet it is the agricultural and mining sectors that account for 65% of its exports. Rich in natural resources, Australia is a major exporter of agricultural products, particularly grains and wool, and minerals, including various metals, coal, and natural gas. Agriculture Agriculture in Australia is a major industry. Most of the farmland in Australia is pasture for raising cattle and sheep. Farmland covers about 65 per cent of Australia. However, most of this land is dry grazing land. Crops are grown on only about 5 per cent of the farmland. But farmers use modern agricultural methods and so make the cropland highly productive.

The Queen is represented by the Governor-General and six State Governors. The federal parliament has two houses and is elected by all Australian citizens. Voting is compulsory at elections and people who do not vote are fined. The leader of the political party with a majority in the House of Representatives becomes Prime Minister. Australia is rich in natural resources. It is a major exporter of agricultural products, such as wheat, wool sugar cane, and minerals, including various metals (copper, lead, gold, silver, tin and zinc), coal and natural gas. Nearly all the world's high-quality opals are mined in Australia. The service sector of the economy makes up 69% of the gross domestic product. Although both agriculture and natural resources give up only 5%, they make up most of Australia's exports. The best-known national symbols of Australia are the national flag, the coat of arms of Australia, the golden wattle, the opal, the colours green and gold and the National Anthem.
The American system of federation was imitated too, especially in English- speaking nations like Canada and Australia. Climate The climate of the U.S.A. differs greatly from one part of the country to another. The coldest climate is in the north, where there is heavy snow in winter and the temperature may go down to 40 degrees below zero. The south has a subtropical climate, with temperatures as high as 49 degrees in summer. Economy The United States is rich in various metals and minerals. It holds first place in the capitalist world for production of coal, iron and oil and it also produces silver and gold. It has a greatly developed car, machine, and ship-building industries, textile and food industries. Agriculture is very wide-spread, above all in the prairie regions, where wheat and other grain crops are grown. Cotton is grown in the Mississippi valley, tobacco in Maryland and Virginia

railways, which were built first to link the mining settlements with the coast. Kalgoorlie is an important mining town near Perth. A pipeline, 350 miles long, brings water to it from Mundaring reservoir behind Perth. Water has to be carried to another important mining centre on the edge of the desert in western New South Wales. This is Broken Hill where there are great silver; lead and zinc mines. These metals are now more valuable than gold. They are sent by train to be smelted in Port Pirie. Much zinc is then sent to Tasmania for refining. Afterwards the zinc is used for making iron sheeting for roofs, building and water storage tanks. The latest scientific discoveries in Australia are copper, tin, tungsten, bauxite, `rare earths' and uranium. Oil has also been found in Western Australia. Iron and steel are still the basic metals. Estonia. Eastern Virumaa is an important industrial area which has many mines and ash hills. The county also has virgin forests, pre glacial valleys, beautiful lakes, bogs and attractive beaches. There is also Narva, the town on the border of Estonia and Russia, it is the easternmost and third largest town in Estonia. Kohtla Järve is an industrial toen inhabited by mostly Russian speaking people. Sillamäe was once closed to visitors because of the processing of rare metals and radioactive substances, it has now become an industrial centre and is considered one of the most pleasant towns in the county. Western Virumaa has a beautiful rural landscape, its highest being the hill of Emumägi. The Baltic glint is lower there and lies further away from the coast. Forests cover more than 40% of the county. The soil is very fertile for crop growing but industry is also widely developed. Järvamaa is located in the
