The School I come from

So far I have had five teachers (not including my current teacher), who all have been very different but they had one thing in common, they all used I love English books. With my first teacher we wrote down lots of rules about grammar and other stuff like that but I did not understand them so for me it was more like a waste of time. With my second, third and fourth teacher I met in Jõhvi High school and they all were not good teachers because they did not want to teach us, during their lessons half of the class just played with their phones and other half of the class tried to study on their own. My fifth teacher was the one who taught me almost everything that I know now, in her lessons I was never bored, because we had so much to do during her lessons, we singed songs, read poems, did group works, where we only could talk in English and when she saw that someone was bored she left him/her more difficult

Home Schooling

http://www.abiks.pri.ee There is big different between home school and state school. The way how there are taught is different too. There are arguments both for an advantage and disadvantage. Firstly in home school parents have the freedom to decide what to teach. Furthermore they have the freedom to decide how to teach. Secondly parents can teach their children more than just facts and when children learning what interests them, it motivates them to learn even more. But on the other hand home schooling isn't the best way. In state schools are more children and they can speak between each other and it is helping in future. Moreover children learn how to judgement with others. In state schools child can do teamwork and it is very usefull. To sum up there are some good things and bad things in home schooling

Essay: my ideal job

My ideal job When I graduate university, I would like to become a teacher. I want to teach Estoninan language and literature. I want to teach highschool students. I’d like to teach in my hometown, Tartu. I want to become a teacher beacause I like kids. Also, I like to teach and explain. Literature was my favourite subject in school. I like almost all books from compulsory literature. Especially I like „Master and Margarita“ and „Dorian Gray“. I think it is very important to read books, especially young people should read. Literature improves their vocabulary and changes their picture of the world and maybe teach tolerance. I’d give enough time to read every book carefully. I wouldn’t just make a test with

Play sports and you get a lot more than a fit body

Play sports and you get a lot more than just a fit body Sport plays a role in every person's life. A lot of us enjoy doing different sports, others maybe not so much. Everybody needs some sport while growing. It is not only because the world today is filled with computers and people are always sitting by desks. Sport has many positive effects on people besides having a fit body. There is a saying that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Team sports show and teach how to work in a group, how to communicate. People who play sports can release some energy in the game also and they will be calmer, their decisions will be more calculated. Training regularly will teach how to divide their time between school or a job and training. I think that sport is a good way to teach a person some responsibility and consistence, too. To make some improvement in a certain sport a person has to keep training consistently.

There is something distinctive about every generation

There is something distinctive about every generation Most of the people in general are all the same. Their values, thoughts, realtions and things like that. But every generation has some differences in them, every generation has something distinctive. Having about four generations living together is something very important, but in these days we tend to forget that. Every generation has something to teach the others, all of them have different experiences, conceptions and ways they like to solve problems. For example the ways people acted fifty years ago may not fit into today's world, but then there are the grandchildren's generation that can show and teach elderly how it is acceptable to do something. And then there are older generations that can remind youngers why it is important to appreciate family relations, remember your relatives and what are real values in life, because

To a Skylark

In the spring the Skylark's song awakens the world which shows how much power the little bird has. As the poem progresses Shelly starts to wonder where the Skylark gets it's inspiration from. He is jealous, in a good way, and wishes he could create something as powerful. Shelly admires the most, how the skylark sounds very joyous. People may get their inspiration from happiness but it is often connected to sadness as people dwell upon memories and hopes. Shelly asks the lark to teach him to sound as joyous because he says that none of the existent books could ever teach him such art. Shelly ends the poem by asking the bird to teach him at least half of his skills so that the world would listen to his poetry in the way he admires the Skylark's singing. Wordsworth Wordsworth's poem is more about the speaker rather than the bird. It also praises the lark and its ability to sound joyous but it concentrates more on the wish to reach the same heights as the bird.

People these days are thinking less and drinking more

"People these days are thinking less and drinking more'' Nowadays, alcoholism is rising and this is a big problem not only amongst teenagers but also amongst adults. When there is a problem or a difficult situation people do not think how can they solve it. They think, "Where is my bottle of vodka?'' There are several possible solutions to this problem. What clearly needs to be done is to encourage people to handle their problems without using alcohol. Firstly, we have to teach them that thinking clearly is more effective than thinking with an alcohol bottle. Secondly, we should tell them that they have got supportive friends whom they can rely on. Another suggestion is that the media should not promote drinking. Commercials are very effective with teenagers because commercials are very colourful and memorable. Also, when teenagers see some beautiful advertisement with lots of people who are having a party with drinks they want to be like them

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government?

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government? Intolerance in society is actually the intolerance of it’s individual members. Intolerance is rooted in fear and ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown, it is natural. But it can only grow, if it gets encouragement, either from parents, who are also ingorant or school, who just do not teach children any better. And fighting intolerance requires Law. Intolerance can be fought with education. Tolerance can be teached at an early age only, later it is difficult change a person’s values. And if intolerance starts with the fear of the unknow, education can help. Government should emphasise education more and more. Children should learn about tolerance and human rights and about other ways of life. School should teach children to always be open-minded.

If you have created something, then try to be open minded

If you have created something, then try to be open minded Teacher: O'Mahony V.PG 11A 09.03.2009 This written essay here is talking about my thoughts and facts of life, what is around us. First I thought that why is always easier to create something but to destroy is much harder. Exactly there have been so many wars in history. Everybody wanted to own a lot of countries and others had to fight for their created country. Also they started to teach young people to kill and protect their country with killing enemies. Also government tried to keep a low profile, if there were some wars in state. These are my thoughts of creating and keeping something. In the old times were many wars. Some states predominated over other weaker countries or states. Weaker countries had created their own and loved country and they wanted to live like that for a long time. But also stronger countries wanted to broaden their

In the beginning of colonialism, the term savage was defined by fear natives in America and Africa were considered barbarians, who were inferior to the white man intended to be surpressed because for the difference in civilizations and traditions. Only with the arrival of the likes of Rousseau did the savage become something exciting and noble, a new and strange idea that could teach us a different way of living. Noble savage was sneaking its way into literature Friday in Robinson Crusoe (1719), Uncas in Last of the Mohicans (1826); and with the arrival of television, into film an TV series Tonto in The Lone Ranger (1949-1957), Pochahontas (1995) and Nobody in Dead Man (1995). An Essay

After primary school in Estonia you have two ways to walk: high school or industrial school, where they get profession. Youngsters in United States of America and Great Britain have easier to make choice choosing a profession, because there they start to prepare people to get a job very early. High schools in Estonia teaches every subject almost equally, so everyone have to study everything, except for some schools that are oriented to teach few subjects in depth (IT classes, art classes etc). It´s much easier to make future career plans and to find suitable profesion if school teaches how to manage in real life with practical activities like different projects, presentations and so on. I think USA and Great Britain schools are very developed in teaching pupils how to think and find answers on their own because their school system supports learning through projects, teamwork, presentations. Estonian school system is obsolescent in

I could help with accommodation, organise games and activities, teach children various skills such as pottery, offer some help with general problems. I have some questions about the volunteer work. What are the best ways to prevent teenagers from committing crimes

What are the best ways to prevent teenagers from committing crimes Nowadays there are many reasons why teenagers could be influenced into committing crimes. A lack of life experience can lead teenagers into criminal and even dangerous situations, such as robbery, taking drugs or drinking alcohol. I think, there are many ways to prevent teenagers from committing crimes. Firstly, I think, that teenagers lifestyle is their parents responsibility. Parents have to teach teenagers how to control their anger. Also it shouldn't be allowed for teenagers to watch cruel movies with violence. Moreover there are different programs, which help teenagers to use communication as a mean of handle conflicts, arguments and misunderstandings. Also there should be special lessons at school, which will help student to overcome with their problems. In conclusion I want to say, that there are many ways how to prevent teenagers from committing crimes

Most needed profession in Estonia in 21th century

hard work it really is. Maybe healty people dont value this job, but people who have been sick or take part in some accident, they know how needed occupation it is. Secondly it would be policeman profession. There is very much criminals, in Estonia, and in all world. But policemans trying take care of people safety. I think, if there is no policemans, in world, then it would be disaster. Third would be teacher occupation. We need smart peoples, for saving lifes in world. It is important to teach childs and give them education. Then we are growing up people, who could appreciate everything important (nature, education jmc.). Actually all professions are important. I can't prefer one job for other. Teele Ploompuu

passed. What is very positive. Also, it would make life easier for students. Secondly, we should pay more attention to rural schools. There are a lot of schools which would be needed to renovate. It should be a lot of money to invest. We should not focus only on the city schools. Finally, as far as I know from year to year decrease in the number of high school graduates. And this is a great loss for our education. Because we need more and more people to teach at the University of engineers and IT professionals. In conclusion, educational needs of our increasingly well-educated people. This is our future. High School education should be more valued. But most students are going to learn a vocational school. But all this can be changed.

What are the most needed professions in Estonia in the 21st Century

All adults should have jobs. That means they need to choose a professions. In my opinion one the most needed professions is a doctor. When people get sick, they need doctors to check them, put diagnose and treat them. In my opinion there are few specialists in Estonia because lot of them go to foreign country, mostly because of the low salary in Estonia. Another job needed is teachers. If you want to study a specialty or aquire a high school you need teachers who will guide and teach. The third most needed profession is builders. The cities grow and new building`s are being razed and in turn, the economy is growing. Some old houses are being restored like they used to be in the past. I think that all three professions are needed in Estonia and that employees in this field do not leave Estonia when raise salary and they are recognized. There are many other employees who are in dire need and without them Estonia would not function.

The importance of education

The importance of education Education is one of the most important part in our today's society. Children are our future and educating them is really necessary. In the first place, giving children education is really important, because they are our future leaders, teachers and they have to develop our government for centuries. Moreover, schools, highschools and even universities teach some of the things you will have to encounter in your life after studies and have to step to work-life. In Fact, you will probably have to make presentations, CV-s and know how to communicate correctly with people. Furthermore, education gives you experience you can always relay on. It is shown in your documents that you will have for rest of your life. Different jobs require different level of education. For example, if you have documents

Honesty is always the best policy

Honesty is always the best policy Honesty is one of the first things that parents teach their children, and it is for a good reason. They say that honesty is the most valuable attribute in a person. But is it really the best policy? It isn´t always easy to remain totally honest in difficult situations. We have all lied to our close friends and parents, just for our own good. But the truth is that you always get caught with lying and it only makes things worse. Being dishonest may lead to serious consequenses amd you have to deal with them afterwards.

I use my computer a lot less than my phone maybe 2 or three hours a day, whereas I use my phone at all times. - , , , . . , . - , , . , . , - , 2 3 , . Safe streets again

most important. Also criminals cannot accomplish crimes, because they definitely do not want to be caught. Secondly, we have to establish tougher sentences for those who commit crimes. First reason being is they will sit longer in prison. Second reason: delinquent will think before he does something. For intance murderer will get death penalty or perhaps some burglar will do community service for long hours. Another option is to teach children not to take a evil road. It takes time, but everything comes down to mind and thoughts. Specialist will give lectures about problem anticipation to parents, children. We have to give them education which will prevent them from doing offences. To conclude, we have many options, which we can start using now. For now we can use temporary or long lasting choice. By the time we get older we will have contructed a safer and better society.

salary and students scholarship. This would boost up their motivation to give quality education to our children. Also i would invite more exchange students into our schools and send our children more often to learn in foreign countrys.

Argumentative essay "Too many people spend too much time playing games and sports"

sports. Some say that people nowadays spend too much time playing games and sports. It is my opinion that it is important to do sports and playing games is developing. First of all, there aren’t too many people who do sports, i’d say too less. Most people I know enjoy staying indoors. I think everyone should take part in sports in order to have healthy body and a healthy mind. Secondly, playing computer games is rather good than bad. Games help people relax and they can teach us a lot about history or geography as well. Opponents say that people are wasting time on games and sports. Firstly, they argue that sports can be injurious. For example, you broke your leg while playing football. They also say that computer games are addictive and make people aggressive. However, in my opinion, sports and games is very good way to spend your free time. In conclusion, games and sports are not as bad and dangerous as some people say,

Future career

become a stewardess, but life went the other way. My father works in Finland. He is a builder. Sometimes he is abroad for several months. He worked couple of years ago at the same hospital where my mother works. He was an ambulance driver. i can't say that some jobs are unnecessary or pointless, but i can say what jobs i don't like. I think i don't want to become a doctor or even a nurse, because i don't stand blood. In the future i want to become a teacher. I want to teach Estionian language or literature to high school students. To become a good teacher, i have to go to high school and graduate it with good results. Then i want to go to university. When i was a little younger i wanted to become a singer, a dancer, a hairdresser or a seller, like any other child. And now i know, the older i get, the certain will be my views to the future.

My hobby

MY HOBBY My hobby is roller-skating. I roller-skate whenever I can cause roller-skating is my favorite hobby. This hobby got started when I was a little boy. I had always wanted my parents to teach me how to ride with roller-skates. Soon they got fed up and tired of my bagging to get some roller-skates. So they bought me a pair of roller-skates. So as soon as I could, I learned to roller-skate. I started with just standing still with them. Soon I could roller-skate across the street. Now I roller-skate just about everywhere where it's possible. The wonderful thing about roller-skating is that I do not have to buy a bus ticket. For example, I do not have to be in traffic congestion

Teaching the Vocabulary of the Text

it is easier to concentrate on the detail of individual words. Large-scale vocabulary building is, in general terms, therefore better done after the text has been presented. (Cranmer 1986:60) Another important reason is that it is possible at this stage to exploit the new lexis in its own right, not just as a means comprehension, If we are to bring new vocabulary into active use and not just passive understanding, it is not sufficient for us just to teach it. It should be done in a way, so that teachers should be sure that it is learnt and used. If the words are taught after the target text, then the meaning of the words will be more understandable. In this case, the `matching' is the best thing to learn new words. The definition will be given to a learner and he/she has to find the word with the identical meaning in the text. What should be added to the topic, I believe, not hundred percent of new words will be learnt by students

Teacher's Day

International Teachers`Day In many countries, Teachers' Days are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers; World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world on October 5. I was a third A grade teacher and My assignment was to teach them the Estonian and math. The first lesson was the Estonian, and we read poems and talked about the modern school of boys and girls. The second lesson I spent with the students of the Eleventh A. I will provide them with the necessary information, which had previously been told to me. Next, we talked about the how the gymnasium student must behave and interact. I was trying to talk about them as much as possible, however, that although they were not interested

basketball. My favorite sport is Skateboarding. Although this is not sport. But some people thinks that skateboarding is sport and others not. For me it's sport because it's pretty hard to drive all the day and then go to home and to your homeworks and so one. I drive with my friends and it's pretty fun because i can do some tricks that my friends can't do and then they are going to learn that trick. Of course my friends can to tricks what i can't do and it's fun to learn and teach some new tricks. But sport is important thing in our life. For example we have here in estonia so many good athletics like Erki Nool, Gerd Kanter and so one. It's good to see when your country contestant win a medal. We have won quite a number of medals like Gerd Kanter did it in Peking and won a Gold. It's good because our small country have so many good athletics. And this give a respect. Thanks for listening
