New tool to estimate reading speed parameters This section introduces the tool which has been designed and programmed to es- timate reading speeds, as well as the dialogue boxes the user will encounter when using the macro and also the final table the program generates to present the re- sults. According to the functional specification defined at the beginning of the project (a project aimed originally at the provision of a tool which would pro- vide quantitative results in a teaching environment), it was decided to program this new application as a macro for MS Word using source code written in Visual Basic. This means that the above mentioned "tool" which makes the reading speed calculations is just a macro programmed in Visual Basic for Word. As the name implies, the limited liability company (LLC) provides limited liability to its owners in such a way that they are not liable for the LLC's debt obligations. The liability of a partner in an LLC is limited to the investment made in the company, while his or her personal assets are not at risk. The LLC can be established by a single person or by several persons jointly. 6 CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW BLACK 6 Charter capital The presence of charter capital is required to set up a limited liability company. The Law on Entre- preneurs does not establish a minimum or maximum capital requirement for establishing a LLC. The amount of the charter capital, therefore, rests entirely with the partner(s) of the company. Rights and Obligations of Partners The partners of the limited liability company are entitled to create an agreement, which sets forth their rights and obligations and the distribution of shares

presented to explain the deadline slippage on one of the case studies. The schedule is accompanied with a data exchange diagram to illustrate how collaboration can affect the project deadline. From this analysis, it was discovered that one of the reasons why there has been an increase in the design and construction of buildings with highly complicated geometry is the advent of 3D and BIM tools. The main themes that emerged were: • 3D and BIM increase collaboration between different project participants; • A reduction in construction time is evident only when the building models are openly shared; • Intelligent models help to find clashes and reduce re-work; • Models increase accuracy during fabrication and construction; • Shop-drawing review is sped up; • Steel design takes place in a more concurrent fashion; • 3D illustrations help to explain erection sequencing; • Building models provide rigging information for erection crews.

Legend of Pocahontas Pocahontas is most famous for saving the life of John Smith, a leader among the English colonists. In 1607, Smith was captured by Powhatan warriors and held captive for four days. When two large rocks were brought in, the legend goes, Smith had a hunch his beheading was imminent. But Pocahontas begged Powhatan not to kill the Englishman and, being her father's favorite, the chief obeyed his daughter and spared Smith. It is true that Pocahontas had acted as an ambassador for her people to the English. In the first years of the colony, she served as a courier for traded goods and as a negotiator between the two sides. But by 1609

The final secret message, wrapped up and sent, is the cryptogram. (The term "ciphertext" emphasizes the result of encipherment more, while "cryptogram" emphasizes the fact of transmission more; it is analogous to "telegram.") To decipher or decode is for the persons legitimately possessing the key and system to reverse the transformations and bare the original message. It contrasts with cryptanalyze, in which persons who do not possess the key or system— a third party, the "enemy"—break down or solve the cryptogram. The difference is, of course, crucial. Before about 1920, when the word cryptanalysis was coined to mean the methods of breaking codes and ciphers, "decipher" and "decode" served in both senses (and occasionally still do), and in quotations where they are used in the sense of solve, they are retained if they will not confuse. Sometimes cryptanalysis is called codebreaking; this includes solving ciphers. The original intelligible text that

Each pixel was converted with an 8-bit ADC, resulting in 1 byte per pixel. The data rate was therefore 150 ¥ 1024 ¥ 200, or 30,720,000 bytes per second. We planned to use the VME bus as the basis for the system. Each scan from the CCD had to be read, normalized, filtered, and then converted to 1-bit- per-pixel monochrome. During the meetings that were held to establish the system architecture, one of the engineers insisted that we pass all the data through the VME bus. In those days, the VME bus had a maximum bandwidth specification of 40 megabytes per second, and very few systems could achieve the maximum theoretical bandwidth. The bandwidth we needed looked like this: Read data from camera into system: 30.72 Mbytes/sec Pass data to normalizer: 30.72 Mbytes/sec Pass data to filter: 30.72 Mbytes/sec Pass data to monochrome converter: 30.72 Mbytes/sec Pass monochrome data to output: 3.84 Mbytes/sec If you add all this up, you get 126
