ÄGE LÜMFOIDNE LEUKEEMIA Äge lümfoidne leukeemia (ÄLL) on kiirest progresseeruv pahaloomuline kasvajaline haigus (nn. verevähk), mis haarab rakkude arengureas lõpuni arenemata ebaküpseid rakkude noorvorme. Need mitteküpsed rakud e. blastid hakkavad kontrollimatult paljunema ega suuda täita küpsetele rakkudele omast funktsiooni. Enamasti levivad leukeemilised rakud ka mujale organismi. Tegu on harvaesineva haigusega, haigestumus on 1–2 esmasjuhtu 100 000 elaniku kohta aastas. Äge lümfoidne leukeemia tekib sagedamini esimese 10 eluaasta jooksul, kuid haigestumise sagedus suureneb vanuse kasvades üle 50 eluaasta. ÄLL on koos ajukasvajatega üks sagedamini lapseeas esinevaid pahaloomulisi kasvajaid. Meestel ja poisslastel esineb leukeemiat sagedamini. Laste ÄLLi puhul on tervistumise võimalus 75%.
