Shaun White
Shaun White won the gold medal in halfpipe at the 2006 winter Olympics . The boarder, sometimes called the flying tomato, sor his wild red hair , won the event by beating his fellow a famous snowboarder Danny Cass . White is an athlete who does two thing : snowboarding and skateboarding. He was the first person to won at both Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports .
Shaun White was born September 3, 1986 in California. Shaun started snowboarding when he was six years old after watchin his bigger brother Jesse White trying it. Shaun started to compete in amateur competitions a year later . After winning almost every snowboard competition he took part , he was became sponsored by Burton , the worlds most famous snowboarding company, and became a pro when he was only 13.
Shaun was given a nickname Future Boy, when he first started as a pro. He was only 13 but he was already pushing the limits of snowboarding. White got his reputation by doing big air and tying together snowboarding tricks in ways that had never been done before . In 2003 Shaun ruled over everybody in Winter X Games and every other event he decided to take part. Shaun won a gold medal in the slopestyle and the superpipe and also took the games’ “ best athlete” award. A month later Shaun became the youngest winner of the US Open Slopestyle Championships. In 2004 he won the X games again .
In december 2005 Shaun qualified for the Winter Olympics of 2006 in halfpipe snowboarding by winning two US Olympic team qualifying events in Colorado. He became an Olympic Champion after winning the gold medal in halfpipe snowboarding in Italy . His gold medal run included back-to-back 900s and was run with AC/DC’s “Back in Black ” as his background song .
After setting new standards in the world of snowboarding Shaun decided to make his mark in skateboarding also. White joined Tony Hawk on his Gigantic Skatepark Tour in 2002 and made his pro skateboarding debut at the Slam City Jam in 2003. some years later he finished first in the vert half pipe , which qualified him for the X Games in 2003.
Shaun released a snowboarding movie called The White Album in November 2004 and his newest snowboarding flick is clles First Decent. Pro snowboarder Hannah Teter is also boarding in the movie. Shaun’s success in snowboarding and skateboarding had made him a ton of money . He now own three huge houses and a couple of cars. He just got his driver licenses.
